My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Things were probably a bit different than usual, due to the pandemic, but the staff went above and beyond to ensure the hotel was clean and everyone was as protected as possible. Our room was clean and beds were comfy. The pool was definitely the highlight of the stay. We enjoyed a meal at the pool bar the last night of our stay and can’t say enough about how delicious the food was and how friendly the staff was. In spite of being ushered inside due to a thunderstorm rolling through, we enjoyed our stay immensely and would definitely stay again.
Nice hotel and resort. I will say it would be better during non-pandemic times but it is still worth the visit. If you want to be surrounded by other places to visit, it is very rural. I would stay closer to I85 if youre really looking for other things to do or you dont golf.
Best kept secret! Dont think twice, just book! The pool is magnificent. The place is clean, of course, it is a country club. Priced perfectly! Nestled in a great community away from the noise. The staff treats you like youre a member of the club. Definitely a 5-star experience. Breakfast was exceptional. Omelet station made it even better.
The lady who checked us in was very sweet and accommodating. The rooms were nice and I loved the separate shower and tub. We had room service which was delicious and nice since we have avoided eating inside restaurants since March due to Covid-19. They even had some Halloween pumpkins on display which my 6 year old son loved.
We were only booked for a night as our halfway point to Sandestin, FL. Such a fun place! We could have easily stayed longer with so much to do! My 7 year old son said to make sure to give a “thumbs up” so I’m doing just that!
Very nice! Lives up to the Marriott standards and you can tell that it is new. The views were beautiful and the grounds were very well maintained and gorgeous. The bathroom was very nice spacious with everything you need. The bed was comfortable and the room well appointed. The lay out of the hotel was nice and breakfast was delicious.
Fantastic place! Stayed here during a recent golf trip at RTJ and the location to the golf course was a perfect setup. Southern hospitality at its best from the moment we checked in. Special shoutout to Charlie, Mary and Erica in the loss prevention dept. I had left several items on my balcony after checkout and they couldn’t have been more helpful getting the items shipped to me. Great experience all around, I’ll be back!
This resort has been 1 of my favorite places since 2002. Southern Gentleman still opens doors & has impeccable taste & manners.
Do what you do so well that they will want to see it again and bring their friends.” – Walt DisneyI cannot say enough good things about how the management, Jim Keller in particular, of the Marriott Grand National Resort in Opelika, Alabama went above and beyond to make the very best of our stay despite the COVID-related reductions of services and amenities. The staff were consummate professionals and are doing their best with what they have to work with and we felt very safe due to the safety and sanitization measures in place.Thank you for truly saving our birthday week despite a rough start. We hope to return in the spring of 2021 and enjoy the full range of amenities, service, and experiences they normally have available.
Front desk people were outstanding! First room A/C not working properly and room wasn’t probably cleaned. Front desk made the move to next room very easy. Second room much better.
The spa service is excellent, the amenities are high class. The staff is very helpful.
Amazing layout... Hotel is very nice with EVERYTHING you can think of on property.
Received my first Hydrafacial today and it was wonderful. Alice the lady that did my facial was nice and professional. I will be back and look forward to another facial with Alice.
This was my first time in a resort and spa. It was absolutely fabulous. We enjoyed our stay! Rooms were clean, staff very courteous and professional . Would definitely stay again.
From the moment we arrived at the hotel to check in we were met with happy, smiling faces. After checking in we went directly to the Spa for a couples massage and throughly enjoyed the experience as the front staff and the individuals performing the massage did an excellent job. Our entire experience was delightful thanks to your caring and attentive staff. We would gladly visit the property again for business or pleasure anytime. Thanks for a Great Stay
This is a perfect spot in the center of a golf, tennis and cycling destination resort, and an easy drive from my home in Atlanta. The ideal getaway for our annual business meeting. We opened with a round of golf, and relaxed with a set of tennis after day one. I left energized. Using the shuttle made our group dinners easier than if we stayed in town.
Nice hotel a little pricey for what it is but enjoyable pool is nice need better service and friendly faces even with a mask on. For the price you should feel like you are being catered to.
The Marriott Opelika Resort is situated in a somewhat secluded wooden area only 15 minutes to Auburn University. The rooms are large and airy. The bar is comfy and food is good. The staff was extremely friendly. My only complaint was the breakfast bar which costs $19.95 per person and quality of food average.
This place is in a secluded area. Very nice. 3 pools. Golf court. Game room, which was closed due to covid 19. We really enjoyed our stay
Comfortable beds. Parking is a little far away but its a great place to stay
We had a big birthday party for my mothers 80th birthday. Check in was so simple and the front desk staff was very accommodating to every need we had. John helped me with my bags and stuff I had for the party. at least 2 trips to the banquet room and 1 trip to the suite. He even helped set up the 4 tier birthday cake... you could not imagine a more helpful and kind soul. Sharron was our event coordinator and had arranged every detail. Sharron is amazing and you could not ask for anyone better to work with you for an event of any magnitude. She led us through the process and made sure every desire was attended to promptly and accurately. The food at the party was amazing. Chris in the kitchen made sure the food was prepared perfectly and served hot. Everyone at the party only had great things to say. This was our one time shot to do something over the top for our mother; I can not stress enough how thankful we are that we chose to use Grand National for our event. We were thrilled and have made new friends here at the resort. THANK YOU!!!!
We were disappointed in the large crowds & lack of sanitizing. The pool was over capacity & very crowded. We never saw anyone sanitizing the chairs & tables around the pool or around the bar area. It made us nervous. The pool water was dirty as well as the pool grounds. They didn’t seem to have enough staff to help keep things cleanly. The rooms aren’t being cleaned daily due to covid which is understandable however it was frustrating to have a dirty room to return to each night. Our party was supposed to have adjoining rooms & they couldn’t accommodate that even though we had booked weeks ago. We used to enjoy coming here with our family but it seems it is not as cleanly as it used to be.
I cannot adequately put into words how wonderful it is at this Marriott. This resort/spa is a gem! I have stayed here many times to escape the busy-ness of life. The hotel staff effortlessly treats you like family with warmth and kindness to make sure your stay is nothing less than perfect. The spa is second to none offering quiet rooms with soft music and dim lighting to create an inviting and calming atmosphere to regroup. The services provided by the spa prove to be top notch. The hotel’s guest rooms are cozy, and the beds are extremely comfortable. Pricing for the hotel and the spa are well within reason. The pool area offers fun for all in the warmer months.
My experience at Marriott Grand National is always exemplary! We Love everything about this location and it’s amenities! We return yearly to experience everything the resort offers for birthdays and pleasure as the prices are very reasonable! Great Location and Vacation! I Love Grand National as it is so relaxing here!
Positive: The view from the room. Negative: No
I really enjoyed it. Great place with great rooms
This resort was extremely clean and well maintained. The spa was so relaxing and comforting. The pool and bar area were very nice as well! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.
Other than the Southern Oak Restaurant breakfast order being slow for pickup and the Southern Oak Cafe and Bar staffer being a bit on the short fused side, we had a great time around the wonderful pool.
Positive: The room was clean, friendly staff, and the pool was nice. They set the chairs apart from other families for covid 19 purposes. Negative: Wish we could of had a microwave in room.
The hotel is very clean and relaxing. The restaurant serves yummy food at decent prices. There is a heated indoor pool with a hot tub. Also has a beautiful outdoor pool and hot tub. The outdoor pool has a kiddie slide which goes through the rock formations into the pool. The rooms have at least 50 flat panel HDTVS and in room safes. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The whole complex is off the beaten path which ensures peace and quiet.
Beautiful property with top notch service. Bed was very comfortable
Incredible experience, and I had the entire mens side of the spa to myself. The staff was great, inviting, and the massage therapist was excellent. I wish Id had more time to stay and relax afterwards, but did get about 40 minutes to shower and relax before having to drive back home. No one ever rushed me, and told me to stay as long as I wanted after my massage. The facility is spotlessly clean, and theres nothing like soaking in a jacuzzi after a deep tissue massage. Im going back as soon as I have the opportunity.
Positive: Everything! Negative: Nothing
This was the best hotel I have ever stayed at. The room was immaculate, the bed was very comfortable, and the pools where awesome. Wish we could have stayed longer
Wonderful hotel with a helpful staff. It was awesome to get away snd spend some time at the pool. The reason I downgraded it a star is that people were smoking on their balconies and the smell seeped into our room. One of my family members has COPD so we try to avoid cigarette smoke. I also could not sit on my balcony because of the smokers.
This amazing property is worth the drive as it is nestled amongst the pine trees. The staff from the first moment you step onto the property welcomes you with southern hospitality. The rooms are modern while still holding on to tradition with a mural of a black and white golf course in the room. The beds are quite lovely and comfortable after a long day on your feet or traveling. My room had a private balcony that faced the pool adding a tranquil sound from the waterfall. Throughout the property, there are footpaths to get out to discover numerous paths on foot or bike. The breakfast was satisfying due to their large appetizing selection of fresh breakfast choices such as biscuits & gravy, scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, an omelet & waffle station, fresh sliced fruit, crispy bacon, sausage, grits, and oatmeal with all the toppings. Im a Bama fan, and I was deep into the Auburn tiger country. RTR
A very nice getaway, with lots to do without leaving the property. Staff member Jennifer went over the top to ensure me and my wife had an excellent visit!
Calveta went above and beyond to make sure we were happy and comfortable. Thank you, Calvetta!
Pool area makes for a great vacay. Property was super clean and staff was following all CDC protocol.
Great food, service and fun! Clean facilities and friendly staff.
Best of the best. Great property.
It was fantastic. It was so relaxing. The food and beverages were on point. Its a little drive out and a bit on the pricey side. It was all well worth it.
Nice place to spend a few days! Pool for kids and for adults, it also has an indoor pool!
Amazing space, large pools for both kids and adults. Allison at the pool bar is incredible.
Stayed the weekend for a wedding. ENTIRE staff was gracious, courteous, kind, friendly, went out of their way to make the wedding party comfortable while insuring a beautiful ceremony and reception. Tim, very detailed, Jake, extremely helpful with all my concerns and Cassie saved me by pressing my dress that was crushed in my luggage. The resort was beautiful and kept clean. Will definitely be back, but hopefully will stay longer!
Tremendous gem in Alabama. Awesome setting, amenities, golf, staff and ownership. They really take care of this property. A diamond for the Marriott Brand and Region!
I rated the hotel average only because of the of the food in the restaurant. They need more of a variety of foods, and the menu needs to be updated. The hotel is far out in the woods away from other hotels and restaurants, and I didnt feel like driving that distance, and was disappointed in the choices on the menu; otherwise had they had more of a variety of food, and more items to choose from, I would have given them a better rating....
Almost Everything was Superb! The only complaint I have is with the Attendant that brought up our food for breakfast on Sunday a.m....he wasn’t friendly...maybe he was having a bad morning or something....other than that my visit was Awesome! John, the Attendant that brought our bags up was Great!!! I actually asked for him the next day, but he wasn’t working. I will be back! Love the premises.
Very relaxing great salon and spa and bar and breakfast.
A beautiful resort.... a lot of limitations due to covid19.
I had a great time, me and a friend shared a room. I went down with his family and another family from our church. I prepaid my room, he gave his credit card for the $50 incidental. They then overdraw his account, charging him for everyone elses room. So, he spent most of the vacation wrestling with management. So, 3 stars for the hassle.
Thanks for a great experience at your hotel. Temperature and services were outstanding. Appreciated the smiling, helpful staff members.
Gorgeous hotel with wonderful balconies and very quiet location.
Paid for A balcony room with a pool view and received a balcony room with a parking lot view… Very disappointed
The grand national at Opelika is a beautiful bucolic resort well worth a weeks stay if you can find the time. From the train whistle reminding of its historical past to the well manicured golf course to the great clay tennis courts with a sociable and knowledgeable pro heading the program, the resort offered me time to recharge, engage and visit friends while visiting Freshman son. War Eagle, Hey!
Really nice hotel. A little older but well kept and rooms were remodeled and modern. Good workout facility. Friendly staff. Fantastic grounds and setting on the RTJ. Great views from the rooms.
Great hotel with affordable pricing. Great pool & game room. Definitely stay there again.
We managed to have a last hurrah before Gov. Ivey had to shut down facilities. We were able to forget about the fears and unknown future with our little granddaughters and daughters and best girlfriends as we enjoyed the beautiful peaceful outdoors, pools, and luxury accommodations.
Check-in was a breeze. The on site dining experience was amazing. The room was clean. The bed and bedding was perfect, and the bathroom was above expectation. Overall, it was an excellent stay.
Positive: The beautiful scenery and amenities Negative: That there was not enough vending machines
My stay was just wonderful!! The staff, even down to the maintenance employees, were very friendly. I travel extensively for my work and over the past 28 years of staying in hotels, many in large cities, this property was by far the best experience Ive ever had!
EVERYTHING about this hotel is top notch. The bed, the shower, the food, the property and the staff was all perfect. I would absolutely stay here again!
It would be a 5 star but they close the pool at 9 pm and I think it would be better if they at least opened it until 10 maybe even 11.
Grand National is a beautiful hotel and a peaceful setting, off the beaten track. The staff and services are very nice, and we enjoy staying here every time we are in Auburn for a football game. We appreciate Marriotts efforts and we use them wherever we go, when at possible.
Very nice comfortable nice getaway nice people great experience
Amenities were great, the only thing that could use a little help Is maybe when there is a convention of 100+ people there could be a second bartender at the bar for after hours. Everything else staff was great!!
The staff of this hotel provides a warm and friendly southern hospitality from checking-in to checking-out. The Southern Oak Restaurant serves southern-style breakfast buffet, a must-have--if I could only have their recipe for grits! Yummy!
Pretty good food at poolside grill today. Thae pool is awesome too.
Positive: Clean room, balcony, bathtub, comfortable beds, very nice stuff!
This is a wonderful facility with beautiful grounds however the level of service is not what you would expect from Marriott. We spent two nights, the first of which a noisy refrigerator kept us up. Unfortunately, we had to ask 4 times to have it fixed or turned off (it had to be removed to be turned off). Housekeeping also missed servicing the room but showed up and offered more towels when we asked. We would love to return when the weather is better but will check reviews to see if service has improved first.
I would recommend this venue for a wedding or any other event. The resort is beautiful and the service is great! Everyone goes out of their way to help with all of your needs. We had a wonderful wedding weekend experience.
Beautiful, comfortable place, but the people are its greatest strength. Reception, Southern Oak restaurant Sunday breakfast staff, housekeeping; everyone here at this entire facility are tops at respectful, competent, welcoming customer focus. We will definitely be back!
The resort is lovely, the rooms are nice. Our check in staff was amazing but the kitchen staff is extremely disappointing, to the point we couldnt find them. Sadly the morning desk staff wasnt concerned in finding out why they were working.
Beautiful place, very relaxing
The smoke detector light was flashing on all night. After complaining to the staff at the front desk while checking out, she did not even apologize for the inconvenience
Beautiful modern room, fantastic dinner and breakfast, great pool area. Perfect place for our Mini Honeymoon!
This is a fabulous place to get away and recharge. We just wish we had planned to stay longer than 1 night. Only 2 details that need to be addressed but nothing to prevent us from returning. The pool is amazing. The only suggestion I have is it is not the best for parents trying to watch children due to the rock features apart of the landscape. There needs to be a life guard for the amount of children & noise(waterfall/music/kid’s laughter). It is impossible to relax and enjoy completely. Not enough chairs to be near the pool & guests. I am not suggesting a babysitter, just a little extra safety. My child is an excellent swimmer, but the slide was not being properly used or monitored. There is only one kitchen providing the entire hotel food service, despite several different locations/menus placed around to order(it is quite deceiving). We had an amazing attendant/mgr who took the time to tell us what the time frame was & explain why the wait was so long. This is amazing hotel, I only suggest because I want to see them continue to flourish.
Was here for a company meeting. This place is great and the staff was awesome. If I was in the area myself I would stay here in a minuye
Property is amazingly beautiful. Grounds are perfect, hotel is very clean, desk staff are well attentive, internet is intermittent and doesn’t work in certain areas, location is perfect for seclusion and Romantic getaways.
Positive: Location was great! Staff was one of the most friendly I have met! Negative: No
Great nights sleep after a long day! Clean and quiet in a relaxing beautiful property!
Easy and friendly check-in. Staff interested in making the stay pleasant. Asked several times if there was anything we needed. Great water slide pool and fitness center. Wish we could have stayed more than one night. Loved the live music while we swam.
Beautiful scenery and awesome room! Challenging golf round made for a great weekend getaway.
Absolutely Superior. Banquet & catering Excellent! Sharon surpassed our expectations!! Moms 80th was a huge success. Out of town guest relished the service, decor & food. All around EXCELLENT!
Awesome place to stay...breath taking views and reasonably priced.
We got an amazing upgrade free of charge since they were not very booked up. We loved having the extra space of the living room and the wrap around balcony!
Very accommodating and wonderful staff. Went for a friends wedding and was treated like we were part of the wedding party. Cant say enough about this resort.
Great location, very accommodating and excellent for a Conference. Meeting space is very nice. Evening social event on the Patio was fun with great food and service. I highly recommend.
Very comfortable room. Staff was accommodating and friendly. Very clean facilities.
Positive: Pool bar Negative: Rooms outdated
This hotel is really a retreat! Its perfect for relaxing and enjoying nature. The rooms are extremely comfortable with great views. The resort amenities are great and excellent staff supporting them. Its a great golf resort.
This is our 3rd year to come here for my moms birthday. We bring a couple kids to swim & greatly enjoy our short getaway. We had drinks & ate at the splash bar. We didn’t even have to leave the resort. Lots of options! Highly recommend!
This was the most amazing stay for our Anniversary. We only live 5 miles away but it felt like we were on a private resort far far away! We watched football at the pool bar, had drinks with new friends and a great dinner at the restaurant on site.
Nice hotel at a great golf course. Would have liked to been able to drink in a cool pleasant atmosphere but was forced to use the splash outside bar (inside bat closed) so could not carry on a good conversation with all the kids splashing around. I thought the restaurant for breakfast opened too late for a weekday if you had an early tee time on the golf course. Its a nice hotel, just poorly managed Is my opinion. Not all seniors have small kids and that seems to be where the emphasis is.
