Passed this building over the years and agree with the novelty of architecture but also with the dilapidated state. There comes a point when location, function and actual construction materials and design are no longer viable. Unless one finds people with a vision willing to sink large sums in an uncertain payoff, you’ll get nothing more than a decaying building that will eventually just take up space and satisfy nostalgia and nothing else except maybe a tax shelter. It looks like it should belong in Epcot or as a science exposition. Novelty can really throw a wrench into practicality.
They just dont make buildings like this any more. I banked here in the 1980s. I remember going inside the dome to make deposits or withdrawals. Really a cool place. Hopefully a purpose will be found for it, would be great for an architectural or engineering firm.
The place is fairly neat to look at, but its also kinda sad. I bet back in the day it used to be super cool, but now its only the remnants of what it used to be. It would be amazing if it got a good cleaning, the dirt and vandalism makes it kinda an eyesore. I would love to see it re-purposed!
The Gold Done is now sadly closed down. It is roped off
Old memories of grandparents banking chase bank im going to work on it to be a museum of the plains first american indians and settlers titanic days
This building needs renovated. Beautiful could stand about$300,000 work
What is it for? Who put it there? Why? You could very easily Google these queries, but if you are like me then the mystery is more alluring then the answer.
This place is a land mark of central OKC. Back in the day it was built. The roof structure was state of the art in design and materials. It has been there as long as I can remember. It has been many different uses. Such as banks, restaurants, bars extra. People have fought for it to be a land mark as the City wanted to tear it down do to the cost of the roof repair maintenance.
I love it is still here. I hope it gets repurposed soon!!
Didnt live up to yhe hype for me. Feels like its ran by a bunch of young hipster kids. Asked for the heat to be turned up, was briefly, then ac went pumping again, when its 67 outside, my 6 and 3 yr old were shivering the entire time. Server never really came to check up on us. Maybe Im just too old fashioned.
Until sum body putz financial investment n diss property, i feel sad fo da community evolving around da property!! I re-caw thirty five yearz go dat intersection of Classen n NW 23rd wuz da shizznit!!
Im old enough, at 54, to remember the gold dome as a bank when I was a child growing up in OKC, and it has never ceases to enthrall me. My most wonderful experience of this landmark was being flown over it in a propeller plane when I was 4 years old. Apparently, the site keeps changing hands, and many uses for the building are bandied about; I cant wait to see what this great building will become next!
I would turn this place into a club/restaurant if I owned it would be the hottest spot in okc
I appreciate da sacrifice of great people!! Many people n diss world need to experience a commitment to stay alive!!
Nice place but unfortunately it seems to be abandoned
It needs some rebuilding
I am ranking this high because of its Historic importance in Oklahoma Modernism and architecture. I use to come here a lot in the 80s when I was young. Save Oklahoma Modernism. Its more then just a building its Oklahoma History.
This place is great for collecting dust, homeless hangout, and all around eye sore. I wish they would tear it down or build it up...
It may be a historic landmark but the is nothing in the building, not that can be seen anyway.
Cool looking be nice to know what it was at one point
I didn’t grow up here so I wouldn’t care what they turned it into. It might be the new weed spot. But who cares. :)
Love it there you must see it
Eye sore.. If it was renovated and being used, it might not be so bad..
If you dont like it then shove your 1 star review where the sun aint shining.
Passed by, it looks like they are going to work on the building
Always wondered if this place held any significance, very pretty.
Its really nice in here love this place
It used to be some place special. Now its just a stop on route 66 to take a picture on, and a Pokemon Go gym.
Place really really needs work in the worste sort of way. If they dont get a move on the place will be worth NOTHING ANYMORE
Theyre fixing the place up
Historical monument. Save the dome
Very interesting. Shame its empty.
This Dome started out as a bank . Bank went belly up in the 80s, I believe. Its been empty since then. Supposedly, the roof leaks terribly, so I guess no one wants to take on the project. Just, FYI. I grew up in Oklahoma City.
Kind of sad it is slowly going away even with the efforts people trying to rehabilitate it. I remember it as a kid when it was bank and was amazing.
Great landmark to go see
I would get rid of it . Build a 7/11 OR a Oncue, Really
Dont tear it dowm
Homeless shelter basically. Dangerous. Keep driving.
It use to be a bank at one point in time!
Its good to be here to see the architecture of the gold dome.
Only points for it being historic. Its in bad shape.
Beautiful place, I hope we get something nice. A grocery store would make a killing in this area we have no options.
Great place for an event. So much culture..
I wish it would reopen its such a neat building.
Really wish someone would repair this landmark and open up something inside, it is a shame that it just sits there on such a busy corner.
Its kinda of a eye sore, should tear it down,, build a 7/11 or an Oncue there would make area look better.
Vacant. Why does Google want me review this?
Prohibition room was one of the greatest location for a very good beer and five star food. Its ashamed that they where forced to close their doors.
Iconic building.
Place changes name so much heard it is going to become a medical weed place dont know if true
It is a pretty historical landmark.
It’s sad to see the building empty and become an eyesore
Security was poor that day, they were not nice to anybody.
Closed but nice building
