I went on the Chubasco yesterday for our school field trip. Had a super awesome experience. It took about 45 minutes to get out to our fishing spot, Jolene the cook was very kind and helpful. Made us a delicious lunch! (Burgers-chips-drink) once we got to the spot, Mikey showed the kids how to use a conventional fishing reel, how to put on the squid, and how to set the hook once in the water. Once we started fishing, it took a little while to get down to the bottom as we were fishing depth of around 200 feet. The rockfish that we were pulling up or anywhere from 4 to 12 inches long. Lots of kids got a few Birdsnest and tangles. The crew mates were super helpful and quick on getting them fixed so they could continue to fish. On the last spot that we fished, I was reeling Up my catch, as this huge mako comes up and nips it. It was about 4 1/2 feet long. It’s blue color was so cool! The crewmates were prepared to catch it as they put a line out. However it never returned:( on our trip back, the crew let us take photos with our fish before filleting them. I took about an hour to get back to the landing. But in that hour, we got to feed seagulls, take photos with our catches, and basically be face to face with lots of dolphin pods. Once we got close to the mouth of the harbor, the waves were basically breaking inside the Harbor. The captain and crew mates work together to time it perfectly so we didn’t capsize. Once back into port, we thanked the crew mates, Paid for our fish fillets. and got off the boat safely. I personally will definitely be returning. Had an awesome time!

These guys were friendly, funny and super helpful! But our favorite was Captain Bruce the rescue dog! Honestly. Great fishing, really great deckhands handing off their rod to kids to let them” reel in the catch”. Just good people. Chill and fun.

Had a great time caught our limit. Good times cold beer cant wait to return. Great atmosphere on the boat with captain and crew being very attentive. Started off with a nice Red Snapper and the bite was on.

Amazing trip. Crew was very helpful and they have the best sanwiches out in the sea. Had a great time getting yellow tail and Dorado. Highly recommended.

Ive gone on a few different charter boats for fishing and this has to be by far the best experience Ive had. All the crew were super friendly. I am a beginner at fishing and they helped out so much with such a great attitude. I would definitely come back here again and will recommend to others. Keep up the great work!

9-4 fishing is perfect. Boat is well maintained. Crew are really friendly and helpful. The captains work really hard to put you on fish. We have not had a bad day of fishing aboard the Chubasco. Highly recommend.

The crew is great. Max was amazing with our 6 and 7 year old granddaughters--he was so patient with them and helped them fish all day--teaching Emily all she needed to know to help her land her fish.

Great deal for 1/2 day trips. They only run 1x a day but run a little longer than most and you dont have to get up at 5am to make the morning trip. Great crew, captain is always able to put us on some good fish and always willing to move to find them. Even with a full load the boat doesnt feel too packed.

Good boat, great crew, well-organized, attentive and helpful. They had enough crew on deck that I felt like I never had to wait long for help. I liked that these guys let you do your own bait rather than wait for someone to come bait your line, some people though will prefer to have that done for them.

Nice trip great crew . Ocean was rough the day I went out. Only caught under size fish. But was still fun. Crew hooked some fish & let the 2 kids on the boat reel them in .

Excellent fishing experience. Captain Chad and Tony were very helpful and made the whole experience great. They took care of everything and got us plenty of fish. Will definitely be back.

Thoroughly enjoyed both 1/2 day trips we took with Captain Tiny and Captain Ernie. Caught plenty of fish. The crews were very helpful and courteous. Parking is the best. Plan to go as often as possible.

For an awesome time on the water, Chubasco 2 is the company to do it with. Captain Ernie is knowledgeable and professional and the crew are exceptional. Keep up the awesome work you guys!

The fish werent really biting too much, but the crew was really top notch. The crew was always there to help with the Sculpins spines, when the gear was stuck in the rocks, handling the fish that we caught, and replacing lost tackle.And the best part is they serve Ballast Points Sculpin IPA....We plan on returning in a couple months when there should be better fishing.

12 of us went out on a half day trip with Tiny and Kalum on the Pronto. These guys were unbelievable!!! We caught 40 tuna in 2 hours and with these 2 it was a day I will never forget. Thank you!

I grew up in San Diego and have gone on my fair share of deep sea fishing trips. This one topped them all! Took my dad out on fathers day for a half day trip. They went to some great spots and the captain didnt waste time in a spot that wasnt biting. Crew was nice and worked their butts off to make sure everybody was havin a good time! They had ballast point sculpin on board, 2 thumbs up for that! Like I said, Ive been on a lot of deep sea trips and this one was by far the best. Thanks guys!

We had an awesome time out on the water. No downtime between waiting to catch fish as Ernie, the owner, is a great captain and makes the whole trip fun.

Went out yesterday and the fishing was off the charts. Everyone went home with the full limit, mostly sea bass. Crew was great and very friendly

Excellent time aboard the boat. 9-4 is the perfect time but make sure to bring sunblock or the fish wont be the only thing being cooked by the end of the day. Rental tackle is nice and sturdy and the crew is incredibly helpful and friendly. Lots of enthusiasm on the water with everyone catching fish. We pulled in at least 25 keeper Calicos, many more shorts, a couple barred sand bass, rockfish, a sculpin, and even 6 or 7 white seabass, about 22 inches, 2 by yours truly. Highly recommend Chubasco 2
