This museum is a small gem, with unusual displays and an interesting collection of local and regional art. The collection began when about 100 years ago a local high school principal asked that each graduating class present the school with a work of art. These seniors from many years ago chose well, and the result is now an eclectic and high quality mix. There are also regular special exhibits and displays from visiting artists. The facility itself is attractive and a short walk from Oceanside beaches and cafes. A enjoyable way to spend an afternoon.
This museum is wonderful! Well-laid out and inspiring art. We saw a very cool exhibit of a collection of art from Gardena High School senior class purchases over several decades. Fascinating and beautiful!
Very interesting exhibit of paintings that were purchased by the senior class from 1928-1956. Inspiring!
Not very much art which is the main reason why I can’t give it five stars. The service was helpful and polite. The artwork itself was beautiful. They have a number or events always going on which is really nice and although they’re small, it is still worth visiting. They’re near the beach and many other fun places which makes the trek out there worth it.
Good range of different art mediums and artists. Clean open exhibits. Love that students can attend for free! Would reccomend and go back. Plus a nice gift shop!
If your going to this art museum, keep in mind that it is small. Its got interesting stuff though if your looking to kill time. The front desk people were helpful and more than willing to explain things if you have questions.
Amazing Showing! Local and non Local artists shown here. Definitely a must see for art lovers of all kind in the area.
We have been to this museum half a dozen times over the years, with and without kids. The building and exhibits have grown in size and sophistication. The key is to get on line and plan your visit to coincide with an exhibit that matches your interests...the entire place will be devoted to it. Great small town art museum. Fantastic exhibits from local and well known artists. Easy to find, lots of parking options and close to other points of interest.
Lots of unique art. There was a Disney animators work there as well. Right next door to new Civic Center. Who woulda thunk??
Beautiful intimate museum. Highly recommend. Great gift shop too :)
Small and a very commercialized feel was not impressed about spending money for 5 minutes to walk through. I read fine arts museum. Definitely not that. so for me that was part of my disappointment. By commercialized, I am referring to the exhibits on my visit that day with themes of Disney, Star Wars, and the main floor felt to me like social media beauty, glamorizing narcissism. For me it was a disappointment and beauty is in the eye of the beholder so I honor that the theme and style would appeal to others. Simply expressing my opinions, I was expecting a fine art museum which this museum is not.
My partner was busy with a Confrence so I wandered around town on my own. As a undergrad art major I’ve enjoyed museums. The museum had some beautiful exhibits. One was from Disney artist Brian Kesinger. His art is so whimsical and fun. The other was of art fashion. I want sure I’d like it but it was beautiful and thought provoking. The staff was friendly and helpful. They directed me to other sites I might enjoy. I wish I lived closer to enjoy more of their exhibits.
The art was weak, more room devoted to finger nails than actual artwork. One of the rooms was a star wars dedication to the artist who collaborated with Disney. The price is 8.00 for adults. All in all it was boring.
I was surprised of the quality of art coming from a small town like Oceanside. They do a pretty good job curating the good shows and they got a cool environment in the right neighborhood. Once you go more than once the art gets to age like fine wine in your experience.
Very cool place, free for military and students!
A great museum in Oceanside, to enjoy art exhibitions and different kind of events. Nice staff always ready to help or answer questions.
They had a great display up when I went and would recommend it to any one.
Super sweet place to visit. Theres art in everything.
Fabulous and innovative art displays, Friendly and helpful staff and docents.
Diamond in the rough. First time visitor and the show proved to be interesting, displayed uniquely and liked the general vibe.
Beautiful museum with art pieces depicting SD best talents. Easily accessible, guest services were very kind and knowledgeable. We cant wait to return!
Amazing art. Great dance performances at the art Walk. The surrealism exhibit, watercolor exhibit and the sculpture were all great. Amazing staff also!
Oceansides hidden treasures. This is a must see when you come to Oside. Check the website to see what the latest news is.
We loved it! It was a peaceful afternoon strolling the galleries with the family. I really enjoyed and connected with several exhibits. The staff was great and made sure we got all the discounts for the students in the family.
Love the dresses
This museum is doing wonders for the local art community but also shows how far Oceanside has developed into a cultural diverse community.
Excellent museum. All regional artists and man are there a ton of them The mixed use of materials makes you wonder how they thought of it (but Im glad they did)GO!
Very interesting collections, always changing.
A very pleasant surprise. I was not expecting much when I visited the museum but it is very much worth the time. The exhibits were very modern, which is something Im not always in to, but this was good and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Some of the exhibits like the David Fokos The Book Pages Project were excellent. His like others were thought provoking. While the museum is not huge give for self plenty of time to spend looking at and reading the art. Ill definitely go back soon.
Great community art place to enjoy a quiet and cool Saturday afternoon!
Nice but very very small museum
Great exhibitions.
Had an amazing time . The staff was so helpful and sweet. They also gave kids the experience of creating their own art at the museum.
Excellent art, the exhibits change fairly often and the entrance fee is only $8
Walking around town we happened upon the museum, It was a free admission day so we figured, why not?! A wonderful collection of water colors (appealing to even my ordinary taste!), and a temporary exhibit of James Hubbell, kind of academic, analytical artist -- interesting and significant. Check the OMA website to see what is coming next!
Enjoyable place to visit whenever your in Oceanside. Always an interesting displ or two
Great gift shop, features local artists.
Excellent gallery including San Diego local artists and a wide array of mediums.
Cultural center of Oceanside. Become a member, take fun classes, and enjoy the art.

Beautiful art and great location
Well done presentations.
Has large spaces for special exhibits so when one goes out of ones way to see them, each has many pieces to view up to 50!
Lovely museum a must stop for all in love with anything Art
This was such a fun place to visit. Their exhibits were very enjoyable and I cant wait to come back. Students get in free.
I love this museum. They feature local artists and showcase unique talent.
Very cool place
I worked a private event here and it was a beautiful venue to have a party! I walked around a little bit and it was really cool and Id like to check it out in the future.
It is not a big museum.
Great, hidden treasure in this cute little town. Interesting Modern Art. Awesome, friendly, and knowledgeable staff. Thank you Museum

It was Cool
Love this town, great place
Beautiful museum.. a must see if in CA the exhibits were very different and it is something good to do with friend or a family event.
The Rolly Crump exhibit was a glorious peak into the mind of a Disney beatnik. His design and execution was awesome. Wish there were more Disneyland-focused pieces but I had fun. Very easy musuem to get through at a decent cost; $8 p/p. You should visit if you find yourself in Oceanside.
I like the free entertainment
Surprisingly nice local museum. Interesting exhibits & fantastic gift shop!
Bobby thill will truly be missed.
Cool place to look at art.
Great exhibits
Excellent art
Local museum featuring local talent. Park on the street or the garage by the civic center before viewing the art on both floors.
Very unique art mostly made from recycled materials.
Had an exhibit on wounded warriors and the art they produced. Loved it.
The Oceanside Musuem of Art has fascinating intriguing exhibits with descriptions and biographies of the art pieces and artists. There are usually three exhibits occuring simultaneously. The first Sunday of the month is free. There are many events. Thrre is an elevator.
Great local art museum with a shockingly good selection of art and an open modern layout. Definitely worth a visit especially for the low cost of a ticket
I liked the dark art exhibit although some of it was a bit odd for my taste . The use of local artists is very cool.
Small but they host quality exhibits. Definitely worth a visit.
Great place for families (kid friendly)!
Nice collection of works by local artists. There is quite a variety of styles here so there is almost certain to be something you will find interesting.
Small but honey and has some interesting pieces
