A truly beautiful place to visit. It shows a diverse array of landscape. When I went part of the trail was closed and under construction but what I did see was breathtaking. It was the clearest blue water Id ever seen with my own eyes. The wildlife was unbelievable I saw a black crane, white heron, a monkey, schools of fish, a small alligator. My fiancee and I paid $2 each just to take a walking tour but they have glass bottom boat rides you can take a tour on, they also have kayak rentals and you can bring your own kayaks. Go during the week to have it practically to yourself.
We go to Silver Springs at least once a month, sometimes more, to canoe. It is very clean & well maintained. The only time we have not seen any gators was this past weekend when instead we were treated to manatee spotting. In the summer the stores are nice to grab water, a quick bite or icecream.
It was a really nice state park. Camp sites were large and private. It was off season and very hot, and there wasnt any swimming facilities. Nice clean restrooms and showers. The glass bottom boat was nice and we enjoyed sitting in the rockers watching the boats. Some beautiful flowers to enjoy as well. Ice cream shop and snackbar souvenir shop all convenient for you to enjoy.
It was absolutely beautiful and the grounds are well maintained. I believe this will be a regular stopping spot when we visit this area. Very peaceful as well.
Didnt get to stay, they were booked solid. I will have to make another trip. They were very helpful in finding a good place for me to stay.
Awesome place! A must see!
Love, Love, Love this camp ground! Big pull through sites and super quiet...very clean bathrooms to boot!
Beautiful park and campground with more than enough to do if youre looking to connect with nature. Do wish it was a bit closer to town, but then again, the natural beauty itself would be lost.
$8 admission. Request a trail map when you arrive. 10 miles+- of various walking trail loops, mostly about a mile each. Most trails meet up with other trails, so if youre in the mood to keep going, just hop on another trail loop. Bring water. There is no water, trash cans, or bathrooms once you leave the parking lot. Trails are well-maintained and very well signed (the signs being trail names & color-coded: if you dont request a map youll be very frustrated). Mostly sand and sand with a thin layer of vegetation ranging from well packed to 3 inches of loose sand. Decent Verizon signal. Grounds are in excellent shape.
We stay in the cabins that are quiet, spacious and well kept. They are surrounded by a wrap around screen porch that allows you to be out when the bugs are. They are well stocked with linens and cooking utensils, and have all modern conveniences. Cabin ten had stairs, but it appeared that the one across was wheel chair accessible. The fire pit had built in seating and there was an outdoor grill available for use. It was a drive to launch a kayak. There were many hiking and biking trails and a wonderful museum open on weekends. Every staff member we ran across was informative, friendly, and helpful.
Great directions, many hiking options and family friendly atmosphere.
The park is, very well maintained and the staff, are helpful and friendly! I would, recommend this Park, to anyone looking for a quite getaway.
I think this is one of the most beautiful places in Florida. Take a kayak or a glass bottom boat to go around and see this beautiful nature for yourself. There are biking and hiking trails. Florida is unique and Silver Springs will show you that its not all about the beaches.
Large, spacious sites. Laundry facilities available ($1 for wash and $1 for dryer which are new). Bath house needs much better lighting thou. Walking trails were nice. Lots of wildlife... lizards are abundant, many kinds of snakes (poisonous and non), plenty of gators, wild monkeys, and frogs..
We camped in our 20 and stayed for 3 nights. Ended up being 26 at the coldest night and it was awesome! As a Floridian we dont get to experience those temperatures that often. Park was excellent. Clean facilities, knowledgeable staff and the camping area was great - A ton of space between sites! Cool trails, bike and walking, and a great place to relax.
Great. Efficient. Friendly.
Great park
Great park. If you have never seen the spring, make the trip. Very well maintained park.
They tore this place down was nice to take the kids but the State bought it
This park is great if you like to get to know the outdoors. I was hoping for better bike trails but the trails here are for family and not technical like I would have hoped for.
Gorgeous & spacious sites. Clean and pleasant bathhouses.
My Sunday Funday spot. Close by. Loves going for long walks on the Forrest trails.
This is one of our favorite parks to camp. The sites are level and most are relatively large. All sites have electric and water and a few have FHU.The sites, as well as the park, are clean and well maintained.Great park to kayak the Silver River or visit the head spring.Have stayed here before and will stay here again.
Paddled the river from spring head to Toms. Beautiful! Wildlife is everywhere. Staff is great, and will pick up and bring back to launch for a low fee. Highly recommended.
Loved it here. Already booked our return trip for next year.
This hiking area is near the Park Rangers Office. It one of the many entrance starting areas...
A very nice state park and the campsites are large. They also have a washer and dryer which is wonderful!
Very comfortable in the woodlands a lot of Space to walk around in
Little piece of old florida
Small and quaint but worth the stop. We walked trails for several hours and felt the peace with nature. Just what I needed.
We love this park. Sites are all large with plenty of separation between sites. Recent upgrades include new bathhouses and new electric hookups. Some sites have septic. The museum located near the campsites is only open on weekends but well worth the visit. The main park has glassbottom biar rides, restaurants and a few shops. great kayaking with a nice launch site in the main park. Campers can access main park or boat launch for free. Bring your hang tag or reservation confirmation.
A very nice quiet campground with spacious sites!
