Hidden gem of a park in Oaktown. If youre looking for some peace and privacy this small park has it.Awesome views and ample parking.
Very nicely groomed grass and the bay right there. Sadly I couldnt make the entire walk to the pier. Maybe as my stamina increases. More walks!!!
Best place to view Golden gate Bridge...
Bathrooms (2) are available, lifeguard on duty, very clean beach, trashcans available, water is clear enough to see rocks and beautiful scenery. Only negative for me is very, and I mean VERY, limited parking places in their lot.
My daughter first time catching a fish.
Remote enough to be able to avoid crowds of people, allows for unusual and up close observations of Port activities (entertaining, informative), relaxing SF city views over the Bay, quiet (except for the unloading diesels - NOT on the weekends).
Mistakingly ended up there, theres beautiful everywhere...even where the tractor trailers meet up
Nice out of the way place to sightseeing the bat
There is alot of things good about this park. But, the BEST thing about this park, is, that it is mostly deserted. It is a great place to get away from it all, right here in Oakland.
Beautiful park with great views.
The ocean view is soothing
Area around the parking lot was a bit of a mess due to those birds, but if you walk down toward the fishing pier, it’ll be much cleaner. You can see the San Francisco cityscape across the bay and Oakland port at the same time. San Francisco side was a little bit foggy when I visited there, but it was a great view nevertheless.
Very scenic park easy to get to. The major problem is you must watch your step. The park is absolutely covered in goose poop landmines. Youve been warned!
Disapoited a little bit sone african americans broke right rear glass and took 4 of mh backpacks during korning hours
Quiet...beautiful
Its an amazing experience to see this wonderful place. You will love it!
Nice place
The view was amazing but it gets cold at night so bring a heavy jacket
Great all of this please definitely be coming back
Very nice place to visit great view of San Francisco
I located this park online. It had nice pictures and good reviews. Dont believe the hype. It is a DUMP. Went there looking to spend a day fishing and less than five minutes after exiting the car, we decided to leave. Total waste of time.
Looks like an abandoned place. When we went there on Friday evening for walk there was no people around and the place smells yuk. Don’t even think of going there.
Is nice place for ride bike
Hardly anyone out here. Nice little walk by the water. Able to fish off the pier
Great views of SF and less than 10 other humans during the 30 minutes I spent here!
Great fishing spot. Great running spot, great view. Enjoy
Clean place to go no off the wall people has play ground and restroom
Nice and quiet at sunset.
Immaculate
Great view of the cranes
Myself an a group of other veterans a great veteran day there.
Always fun n lots of wind..
Beautiful scenery. Party and gathering friendly environment. Plenty of public parking
Fish on!
Its cool
Very organized the way the trucks move in and Out.
Fantastic view of San Francisco and bay bridge, but little else to do
Incredible view and peaceful
This is not a very touristy spot, but it gives you great views of the bay and San Francisco. Locals come here to fish at the pier. You also can watch the harbor operations, mainly during the week.
Very quiet peaceful place place
I like it. First time here. But Ill come second time with my girlfriend. Its really nice in here
Too windy and it smells
Love this place great view of sf and a good place to go fishing
Its enjoyable
Fun walk along the bay.
Port view park is a small park with adjacent parking that has a play structure for kids (good for toddlers) and a small sandbox area. The flat paths make this a good area for teaching children how to ride a bicycle or scooter. There is a small museum in the outbuilding which has info on the local area and the old railroads that once thrived here. There are handicap accessible porta potties here which makes this park work well for kids and grandparents. Though it isnt always the cleanest, so be prepared.Fishing Portview Park:There is a small fishing pier a short distance from the park. The water here is a shallow sand bottom with not many features except grass. My common catch here is Black perch (along the rocks) Croaker, Bat rays, Smoothhound/Dogfish, Leopard sharks and smaller sized flatfish. Not surprisingly ghost shrimp, clams, mussels and grass shrimp are the best baits to use for perch and croaker. Squid and Sardine Ive found is best for the rays and sharks in the evening/night (Cast towards the middle of the deeper area towards the shipping area or straight out towards the breakwall, there is a depression about 60 out) Also if you intend to land the larger fish (The pier sits about 10 above the water) youll need a crabnet to lower down or a long rod to walk the short distance down to the rocks. A landing net really helps here for landing the rays and sharks.A short walk further west from the pier along the rocks I have found to be very productive also. The rocks go down at a good angle because of the shipping lane and at the bottom is sand. The area right where the rocks meet the sand is where i have caught Small rockfish (bait/jigs), Flounder (pileworms/grass shrimp) small halibut (swimbait) and larger sized perch (bait/jigs). Pre 9-11 I used to walk out onto the little point near the loading area ive gotten a few larger fish there tossing swimbaits, You cant do that anymore. And the sand dredging closed the mouth off for bait schools which attracted the bigger predator fish.So stop at the fence.Good luck and have fun
