Greeted by a very open security guard. Bar area is small, but nice drinks. 2 gender neutral bathrooms in the back with a medium sized dance floor for the groove. Good music, and good energy is important.
First time at this bar. Music was great . But the bar tenders focused more on playing with each other then actually servicing the customer. Just imagine the revenue this place is loosing not having the focus being the customer. Don’t get me wrong having fun at work is great but not at the expense of the customer and revenue. If I was the owner I would be concern.
Friendly staff. Quick service. Great vibe. Fun dance floor in the back with good music playing. Would return here again.
This place was cute night out. Fun groovy vibe. Laid back vibe, easy going and relaxed. Ill def be back. Nice place to bring a friend for drinks, good music and laughs.
The Port Bar is so accessible and a welcomed LGBTQ+ bar centrally located near 19th Street BART on Broadway Street in Oakland. I loved the rainbow and colorful design and innovative use of shipping port containers. The music and disc jockey was poppin. The bartenders make a strong and potent drink, no lie.
If I could give them a lower rating I would. I walked past this place on November 11th and stopped in for some water for a second. That next day and for the next four days I was vomiting and convulsing daily. It was the worst case of food poisoning I have ever had. I vomited nothing up except for the water that was given to me and I hadnt eaten anything else up to that point. it was a terrible experience and I spoke to the owner about it and they do not seem to care at all. Theyre not concerned with people getting food poisoning on their property. They will just tell you to go to hell. I would not go here
This place sucks. Bartenders arent very aware of their surroundings. They have a music service where customers can pick songs but the second I did, the bartender changed the music to their own phone. The drinks arent great. I ordered a mezcal margarita and got something with a bunch of orange juice and tequila. The crowd is chill but overall, Im not stoked about this spot at all.
The port bar Was lit this Friday no lie ...the drinks are great you get your moneys worth. The layout is so queer I love it. And its good vibes and no drama .i love this new queer safe space6
I didnt know this was a gay bar until I first walked in. Good for straight or gay people. Just a good bar to hangout after a long day. Great music.
Just a bar with a little dance floor/stage. Been there a couple of times, last time was crowded because is a very small place. As soon as we walked in, it stunk like people been drinking for days and days, very disgusting.
This is my home bar. The DJ rotation is exceptional and the bar staff is spot on. Every day perfection. Twice on Sundays.
Nice vibes, very good drinks, bar staff is awesome
The one well known spot for the LGBT crowd in Oakland. The bartenders are friendly and lively. Also Shanté, the security outside, is a hoot! During Ru Pauls Drag Race, Port will air episodes on Thursday nights on their big screen before their own drag show. During Pose FX, Port will air their episodes too!
Had a blast. Latina cantina was amazing. Drinks are pricey.
Service & Drinks are really good
I loved it. Great music and atmosphere. Totally going again
I love going there! They have some awesome drinks and always come up with new ideas. Management is amazing and very accommodating. They host some awesome and entertaining events on a regular basis that are very much worth going to. I would highly recommend this bar.
This place is very hit or miss for me especially depending on what type of event is going on. Small bar with tiny dance floor most people seem to be regulars. This is proably the only LGBT+ friendly place in oakland that I enjoy on ocassion.
Friendly queer bar with a great staff. Port of Oakland theme decor. Lots going on different nights of the week. The close at midnight Sunday thru Wednesday nights.
Intimate bar right next door to the Paramount Theater. Yummy cocktails.
Loved the place, staff is super friendly, I live in SF and I get used to rude Bartenders, but definitely a good experience at this place. The door girl is a sweetheart and the hot dogs outside Amazing! They did a pretty good job designing the place btw, lighting looks very cool.
We loved this place! We were attending a concert next door and were a tiny bit apprehensive to walk into the bar but Im so glad we did! The energy was amazing and our bartender Matt was incredible and so friendly. We just fell in love with him! I highly recommend this bar to anyone in the area that likes to have a good time in a great atmosphere ️
The busiest bar I went to on a Thursday night. The DJ created great energy with the music. Small dance floor in the back, crowded bar up front. Friendly staff and patrons as well. Overall, clean, nice bar with good drinks. Parking is typical downtown parking meters, sometimes free after a certain time.
A nice intimate gay bar that is great for happy hours and/or dancing.
OMG!! If you can relax and have fun dancing all night.. great drinks & cash only!!!
Chill space and its nice that weve added another LGBT bar in the east bay. Ive yet to attend when its super busy. That being said, I enjoy being able to go and have a beverage and mellowing out. Good music and friendly staff!
Great bar and strong drinks. Perfect happy hour
First visit a couple months after opening was great. Great music and vibe. The following several havent been so good. One bartender has attitude, the go-go boys can be a little... odd, and the drinks are a little pricey. New Years Eve 2016 was pretty sad. Not great music, not great drag show. Odd go-go boys. And the Big Event which started a couple minutes after midnight, was a balloon drop with an underwhelming 40 balloons, and the worst sparkling wine Ive had in years. Not sure Ill be back, but its nice to have the option of a 3rd gay bar in the East Bay.
Fun, especially on Thursday nights when the whole community gathers in the back room to watch drag race
Great neighborhood gay bar. Ive popped in here for a quick drink and left hours later because the music was too good to leave. Its not always like that, but sometimes their DJs are fantastic. This place gets a great crowd of people who just want to have a good time. A great local gem.
I dont know what the owners were thinking when they designed this bar. After visiting this bar 5+ times, I cant get over how dangerously tight this floor plan is. Getting from the main entrance to the back of the bar requires walking single file past the bar and around either part of the bathroom.Every time I have been here, the sound system has been awful. The microphones that entertainers use tend to be way too loud, and the fidelity of music is lost in the metal walls and high ceilings. I think this space could use some acoustic panels for the sake of the costumers hearing.
Nice place great people
Great bar, staff is wonderful. Clientele are very down to earth. Love the atmosphere!
Has a dancefloor which is small-medium size yet youll find your groove. Drinks are delicious and reasonable prices. No cover unless its a special event (Pride or someone is hosting) Go-go dancers. They accept cash and credit cards. Free water. Anything else please ask.
Bartender was cold & charged my gf and I $8 on the $5 drink night. Thinking its because were both femmes but could be wrong. Seemed pretty obvious to us though. Got ripped off nonetheless in my own community.
A little small, but otherwise pretty nice bar. Patrons have always been super friendly, as has the bar staff. Love their concept of big girl drinks.
Attacked for being white. I was engage out side the bar being threatened to be beating up for being white. No body knows me. Nobody knows my struggles. Dont blame the white agenda on me. Horrible experience never going back. I thought gay people were to see past this and have like struggle that bring us together!
A great bar with friendly (and hot) bartenders, fantastic drinks, and a poppin atmosphere! The vibe is awesome
Very warm.and inviting atmosphere. Friendly staff
Cute friendly gay bar.
Delicious mixed drinks and a great homey neighborhood atmosphere. The two owners are always on the floor and often behind bar. Events are pretty fun, especially the Ru viewing parties. My favorite gay hangout when I lived in Oakland.
Cute little gay bar right next to the Paramount. Large space in the back for dancing
Fun place to hang out. Good events. Bar service is very slow...always. Parked my car 100 feet away on a Tuesday night (for trivia night...highly recommend) and it got broken into. Small for dancing, but the DJs are good.
Its ok club, for starters out. But need .more peoples on the weekend. Like starting on a Friday,Saturday,Sunday. But it got good music. Also good employees. Nice people.
Cute place. Okay music
Very nice for a RPDR screening. Great strong margarita. Friendly to a fat straight girl.
Good vibes with good people. Had a great time and enjoyed myself.
Cozy, nice vibe.
It was cool, nothing special, but then again it was a rainy Monday night. It is cute and cozy. I may up this a star if I see a show or have a weekend experience.
I love this bar. The staff are super friendly and the bartender made me a custom drink that was off the hook. Also theres a taxi truck outside for when you need some food.
The music is alright... The drinks are great. I love Sabrina and Paul soooooooo much!
Nice bar. Good for dancing. When it gets crowded inside, it gets really hot. Cute dancers.
Unsafe restrooms... At least when I was there. They were co ed and no privacy. Meaning everyone is in the same restroom they can look in and see you in I d of restroom. I dont know why no one has reported them yet
I love this place and always have fun. Mixed crowd with cool bar tenders
I love Sean, Richard, and Sabrina My fave Bay Area bar! Great address, staff, space and drinks
Just visiting with my son for the holidays and went in to have drinks and really had a good time I also enjoyed the art that was up
Best lgbtq bar/lounge/music in east bay
Fun little space. Creative drink specials.
The owners, Sean and his partner are infusing amazing new life into Oakland gay night life. Shirtless bar backs and male and female dancers. What else gay need. Check this place out!
A hip little bar in Oakland, more diversity than the Castro
Fun, loud, gay bar for not-cheap drinks and drag shows.
Nice spot to chill after work, decent drinks nicely priced. Cute dance floor and good DJ
On NYE very empty. Nice place but staff seems busy chatting & we left even when it was dead slowwww bc tired of waiting for another 35 bucks round. Cld have potential though. Ute place good booze choices and fair CA pricing.
LGBTQ HOTTEST SPOT IN OAKLAND
It tha PLACE to be Wednesday & Thursday NIGHT it really GOs DOWN IN THA DM
Didnt go in there
I have been here a couple times after work and also visited during Oaklands pride celebration. The house Moscow mule concoction is delicious.
My favorite
Good bartenders and fun nightly activities like trivia night.
Remember its a bar.the Library is closed and down the street.
Good times and good drinks. Staff is super friendly.
The owners and the staff superb and amazing Boutique bar with great music festival live vaulted High ceilings in a historic building from the 20s great drag shows great house music electronic music great 70s R&B just a wonderful place to be as I go weekly
Rad spot. Thank the lord for another queer bar in Oakland! Generally a strong mixed crowd of Oaklands finest crazy and the occasional curious SFer. Why dont they have a slushie machine?
Horrible bartender. Very rude, wouldn’t look away from her phone, rolled her eyes at us. There were 2 people in the whole bar. This place is a joke. Cold as ice
No safe place to use the restroom. Both multi stall restrooms are unisex. This place is uncomfortable to me and had a very miserable time because of it.
There is alway a event going on there. They love to entertain and the drinks are good
Says open til 2, but closes at midnight m-weds- just missed it,but looks quaint from the street- at least theres -something- in downtown oskland-
Loved the energy! Every made me feel welcomed!
Downtown Oakland, great pace for dancing. .. trendy place
Bartenders are a bit full of themselves and not overly friendly.
Fun crowd and good beer selection.
This has become my new favorite spot in the East Bay!
Nice bar, only wish it was a little bigger.
Good vibe both at slow times in the narrow front bar and when the place is packed and the rear dance floor is hopping
It was great until they started blasting the TV app loud we could not continue our conversation. We left because of that
Great bar tenders and crowd!
Nice bar. drinks are a bit pricy
No appropriate rest room for women! all of the multi-stall restrooms are shared!
Excellent bar
Great drinks and great space! I come here almost every time Im in Oakland.
Trey was a terrible bartender that ignoring me and my female friend. See you next tuesday.
The Saturday night DJ was fantastic!
For a gay bar this place is not that much fun and its noisy for the wrong reasons but its the only uptown gay bar i guess.
