Wish the cafe had more variety. Thats really the only complaint. Everything was very clean. Lots of handwashing stations. Good variety of exhibits for the price. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We went with our 22 month old and felt very safe. For people looking for things to do during covid this was a great activity. Would love to go back.

Visited the maritime aquarium for the first time again in many years with the family. It was very interesting and enjoyable. It was nice to do something local in the area. Parking was very close and not expensive. $2 per hour parking garage. The staff was very polite and welcoming. The building inside and out was very well kept and clean. I thought there would be just children there with their families. But I came across young adults without children and young adults In group of friends such as myself, enjoying them selves. All ages visit. The pieces of educational information on every exhibit was great. It took about 1 1/2 to walk through the entire aquarium comfortably at now rush. Everyone was required to wear a mask and keep their distance of 6 feet. Which worked out well. I have to mention my most favorite part was the jelly fish exhibit (Very relaxing) and sharks. I very much recommend the maritime aquarium if your looking to do something exciting and educational locally. 5 star

Definitely, a must-visit the Aquarium, I really enjoyed our trip to this Aquarium. The aquarium staffs are very friendly and resourceful, they even go as far as allowing visitors to jiggle a Jellyfish which adds more fun to the experience. There are lots of fishes, sharks, turtles, and other very exciting aqua life animals. Also, this place is family-friendly, so I definitely think you should visit whenever you can. Theres a military discount if you show a valid military ID.Please like this post if you find it resourceful. Thank you

Very nice aquarium! It was smaller than I thought it would be based on their website, but it is very well laid out and the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. The types of fish(and even their selection of animals) was very diverse and interesting. Even their gift shop was well done. Their COVID-19 precautions were well set up and executed and I felt safe there the whole time. Will definitely return soon! Highly recommended!!

We had a blast. They eliminated a few attractions that would normally cause clutter, smart idea. More spacious. They have hand sanitizer throughout the exhibit, they require you to follow the guided one way path which covers entire aquarium which I really liked. Masks are required and they even label highly touched surfaces so you know to hand sanitizer after for safety. We had a great time for sure and will be back again. Dont forget to bring your parking garage ticket with you! You pay at machine downstairs before going back to car

We love the Maritime Aquarium! It is a sweet place to visit . I love that it is small enough to see everything in a few hours but very engaging. My son loves to touch the sharks, rays and jellies and just sit in the calm shark exhibit and watch them swim around . They also have an interactive touch exhibit where a volunteer brings out several sea creatures and talk about them. My favorite spot is the peaceful jelly exhibit. Be sure to catch a great show (and some popcorn ️) in the IMAX theater! You can also take the boat ride to Sheffield Island! That is a wonderful experience in itself! We keep a yearly membership because we enjoy the aquarium and everything it offers so much! We have enjoyed several enrichment programs, camps and birthday parties over the years This is definitely worth a trip if you are just visiting the Norwalk area and definitely worth a membership for locals ️. As a special note, in light of the current pandemic, we have been very impressed with the safety measures and procedures they have put in place so that we are able to continue to safely visit. Thank you

Perfect aquarium to let kids explore their interest. There are steps and kid sized / height windows all over and a 0-5 year old play area, so there are tons of kid friendly features. I have been going to the Maritime for years and I couldn’t help but think how our little friends were doing over there during quarantine. Once they reopened my boyfriend and I decided to go and what an experience. I have never found the Maritime to be so peaceful and serene due to the amounts of crowds it brings. It felt like we were the only ones there and we were never in a room with another group-seeing the shark tank was probably the best part. They mapped out the floor plan with the “6-ft apart” stickers, limited entry and we just felt safe.Zusi is also a sweetheart. Friendly and knowledgeable..

Fun aquarium that’s not too far for an entire family from NY/NJ. During Covid-19 they closed the outside area where they let their seals to swim around, but maintainedto open the most of their aquarium operations for the public. Went here with my wife today. Great aquarium, spent a total of 2.5 hours looking at all of the exhibits(except for the Shark and Ray touch pool, which was closed). Our favorite exhibits were the seal tank, jellyfish section, and we absolutely loved the blue macaw they had there. Giving it 4 stars because some of the exhibits(a small number of them out of 75) were done with entirely fake props and that didnt seem fair to some of the animals. Overall wonderful experience, would recommend to other lovers of aquariums. Side note: They have not only marine life but several birds, reptiles, amphibians, and other wildlife as well.

Even with the Covid rules, this aquarium is wonderful. Its easy to follow the rules: advance-scheduled admission, masks, one way traffic, and six feet apart. The exhibits are still great and the animals dont know theres a pandemic out there. They were fun to watch and the accompanying plaques were interesting. My favorites: watching my daughter overcome her fear at the touch tank, the sleeping pile of meerkats, the Deep Waters special exhibits, and of course the sharks.

Review №63

The aquarium was very well maintained with lots of things to see and do. The reason for 3 stars instead of 4 was the lack of employee investment. Many times my kids were at the touch tank areas and would ask questions to be met with blank stares and a spaced out employee. Same with during the Lego event, my 5 year old wws confused on how to put something together and the employees walked away to socialize with other employees every time we tried to talk to them. The only exception the Jellyfish tank, she was was wonderful. The extra more interactive activities would have been a lot better if the employees were more invested.

We went for a field trip. It was a nice day. My son loved it but him and I wished there were more to see. He was expecting dolphins and whales etc. Its a much smaller aquarium then id expected. There were a lot of fish, frogs, jelly fish. You could pet the jelly fish and sting rays if you wanted to and they had sinks near by with soap and paper towel to wash up after which was a plus. The most fascinating thing was watching the sand tiger sharks they had in tanks. You got an up close experience looking at them. They allow you to take pics which was nice! They do have an I max theater that plays movies about nature and animals and such. That was a special part of the trip. Over all I might visit again if they make updates.

So happy to have such a nice aquarium so close to home. We go at least once a year because they are constantly changing the feature exhibits. The entire place is very clean and simple to navigate. The cafe is actually decent for the tired quick bite after a busy morning or afternoon of exploring.

I recommend visiting on off peak hours because its hard to do anything when its crowded here. Overall I like it a lot. Not perfect but worth it.

Lots of exhibits. Easy to follow. Definitely read the posted signs for the explanation of what you are looking at. At the sea lions, go left to see crustaceans, sharks, and other fish. The map isnt too helpful, but does give you an idea of where you are in relation to the other exhibits.

CAUTION: The aquarium exhibition itself is good, although lots of construction going on. They’re doing a good job of keeping numbers safe and the walk-through experience relatively safe. However, this is where I caution everyone. Today, I visited and went to the cafeteria to get my kid an ice cream. I saw the Chef take off his mask and have a long conversation with the lady on the cash register (she had her mask on) and he was surrounded by exposed hot food....pizza, especially. COVID is passed via airborne droplets and he was within a foot of exposed pizza that had not protective cover on it. He was talking all over the pizza. Not wearing a mask around food was shocking to watch for a business that is trying to take so many good measures. I was totally grossed out and urge anyone to be carful eating here.
