Great golf course. Played very well and or best ball play today we were -7 .7under forgetaboutit
Gorgeous 70+ degree day on 11/8! Course is in perfect fall shape. Greens and playability some of the best in state..
This is one of the best public golf courses I have ever played. Its not all about crushing the golf ball, this course actually makes you think about the lie and pin placement. Hitting over the ravine at Hole 4 is extremely fun but difficult at the same time. The scenery is also beautiful. This is a must play for any golf enthusiast.
I have been going to Shining Rock for a few years and was shocked by the condition of the course today. The greens were incredibly fast and pockmarked, there were no rangers on site that we could see to keep play moving along. Not to mention that there was no refreshment cart doing the rounds as usual, and it was a boiler out today!Completely understandable that due to the pandemic things would change but the course definitely needs some TLC.On a positive note, the staff upon check-in and tee-off were fantastic. Courteous, friendly, and on top of making sure tee times were honored. Once on the course however, it was a different story.
Great conditions, challenging course. All electric carts are equipped with gps and touchscreen to show hole layout, and for mapping out your shots by distance.
Nice track. even seems to have kept it together through the brutal summer that ate a lot of other courses in the area alive. greens slick and tricky. could have used a ranger, didn’t see one all day and the group ahead was definitely slowing things down (cart gps says we finished 15 min off pace). some of the tee boxes banged up. good challenge, lots of tees for varying levels. probably the best bang for my golf buck i’ve had all summer.
Beautiful patio to have lunch with friends on a beautiful day. Food was good. Cordial staff. They shouldnt allow cigar smoking.
Friendly folks all around. Course well maintained and OPEN! Nice course but hilly and lots of rolls. If you are not a straight shooter (like me) be prepared to lose some balls. But I still keep coming back
Lots of elevation changes. Didnt use driver much. Fun course.
Great food, service, and scenery (sitting outside)!
The course was in very good shape and I had a good time today with the WCWGA.
Food was delicious. Reservations needed, social distancing being practiced. Views are spectacular.
Beautiful course. Landscape is very nice.
Even in Covid-19 times, great takeout food, terrific staff and awesome golf course views. You have to try this restaurant. Takeout only.
Hilly and plays longer than actual yardage. Carts are a must. But a challenging course.
It was in great shape
The course was great. Greens were slick and had lots of break. We played from the blue tees, good mix of short par 4s, long par 3s and risk/reward par 5s. The pace of play was pretty slow, didnt see a ranger once out on the course. Saw the cart girl once on #4 and that was it for the rest of the day. No range but you can hit into a net to get loose. Short game area is a bunker and small chipping area but the green is not maintained. Will definitely be back, course was that good.
Very good food
Very well maintained. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. The greens were fast and challenging, multiple elevated tee boxes with beautiful views of the course and surrounding countryside, excellent course for the price.
Great course! Played with the Safari Club on 10/4. Course was in excellent condition throughout. Several elevation changes made for an interesting layout. Very challenging, but fair. This was our first visit to Shining Rock, and hopefully, well be playing it again next year.
Very nice course. It is one of the best coursed that the Safari Club has played this season. Its in excellent condition. The greens are shaped like a potato chip and very fast. Its like putting on a pool table . For a 30 handicap its tough. Give it a try.
Course was alright... Not 40 bones for 9 holes nice... The definition of a bougie course.
Our Safari group traveled to the middle of the state to play this public golf course which is rated as one of the best in Massachusetts and it didnt disappoint us..The course layout is challenging and the conditions were great...Will be back again soon
This place gets 3 stars for value and 5 stars for service. I played here once last year and loved it. However, I believe the prices were raised this season so I was reluctant to play it again. I decided to give it a shot and I was rather disappointed. For the condition of the course, the price is a bit high. It seems to be a common theme in the area, as it seems courses continue to raise prices every year. My round was rained out by the 8th hole but the pro shop provided me with a credit for 9 holes and added a 10th hole for the inconvenience (still not sure of the point). Overall, if this place was 15%-20% cheaper I would play here more often.
Just love it! The course is excellent and the food is delicious.
The golf course is always in great shape. Very challenging.
Very challenging layout and great conditions. Play can get a bit slow due the previous sentence.
Great Golf Course and very challenging
Fast greens, nice layout
