We always have a wonderful time watching and supporting our local Stingrays Hockey team at their home games and location at the North Charleston Coliseum. This also makes for a great experience with the family. Our children always enjoy the food court and gift shopping. We all do. Thank you to all of the hard efforts at keeping such a great place to visit.
I enjoy the events that l attend at both venues, but when me and a friend plan to go see the Madea show with Tyler Perry. There were cheaper tickets online, but when you got to the box office they tried to charge you almost double the price and claimed that those seats were not available. The the parking fees are out of this world in addition to the service charges taxes and whatever other fees they make up to add to the ticket prices. In a way, the pandemic has done some poetic Justice for people like me who have been screwed around by a lot of different businesses that right now are suffering cuz nobody can go to them. Hopefully, they have sucked it enough money from the parking lot and all of those fees to sustain them until the pandemic is over. Both the coliseum and the performing arts center management are getting exactly what they deserve.
This is the main place to go for big events while in Charleston. They offer concerts, games (such as Stingrays hockey), graduation ceremonies and more. Ive been here for those three and it will get crowded fast. For graduation ceremonies:- Come early to get your desired seat, they shouldnt have assigned seating.- They do offer arrangements for guest in wheelchairs.- I believe you can bring in a camera besides your phone.- Should be able to bring in a purse or bag- Large beach balls and fog horns are not welcomed.- Parking should be free. For concerts and hockey games:- You can come early to get to your seat but since the seats are assigned it doesnt really matter- They only allow diaper bags or clear bags when going to the game and they will still search it.- They do assist with wheelchaired guests.- Concession and alcohol are sold during the event. You will need to get a wristband to purchase alcohol for the hockey games, Im not sure about concerts.- Cost for parking, some nights are free during the games.
The North Charleston Coliseum is one of my favorite sports and event venues in the Charleston area. I have been to countless basketball games, hockey matches, concerts, and graduations ever since they opened and have had a great experience each time. The arena is just the right size and it is at its best during a sold out game or concert when every seat is filled and the place is rocking. There is plenty of parking available even during the most crowded events and it is easy to get in and out of as there are several entrance and exit roads that are between two interstates. I still get excited going to events here and look forward to each visit as I know it will be fun and exciting every time.
Was there by appointment through Harris Teeter and Kroger for free COVID-19 testing. Fast, smooth, efficient and the staff was really working hard to keep the flow of appointment vehicles receiving expedited service. Thank you kindly to everyone there.
The staff was really friendly. The parking was conveniently located to the entrance. The allowed capacity for the facility was just the perfect size for those who have issues with really large crowds.
Went here to watch the PBR with the family. Was action packed the whole time. I have to say that I have never seen my father-in-law smile so much. He hasnt been to an event in a long time and was really pleased that he said yes to go to this event. Family fun...
Fantastic performance of Waitress! This venue is a perfect place for any stage production; truly not a bad seat in the whole theater. We have been to this venue ( N Charleston performing arts center) often and they know how to get you in and out of parking with least problems. Even when you exit on to the streets the police are there to assist.
Overall I love this venue. The theater is comfortable and the sound guys did a great job making the band sound great from all over the room. There is never a line in the bathroom because there is plenty of stalls. The only complaints I have are that the walk from parking to the theatre is incredibly long and the drink prices are really high. I paid $18 for 2 glasses of wine. Also, we chose to sit all the way in the back because the seating is tight and everytime someone tries to exit into the aisle, everyone has to stand up to allow enough room for the person to pass through.
The Mother Church! No “Misbehavin’” in the MSG of the South! Great place to see a show.
Great venue but seats i payed for was unavailable and seats i got was not what I wanted but i didnt really have. Choice
We love going here for events but hate the cost of parking. For this reason I can only give them 3 stars. They had reasonable parking prices then doubled them last year or the year prior. I cant help but feel this was a greedy thing to do.During hockey season we use to attend 3 or 4 games a month but now go watch 2 or 3 a season. I have stopped going to events like the boat show and wont go to a concert here. The concession area here is nice and is able to process a large volume of people quickly. Concession prices are fair. More than enough restrooms to keep up with a packed house.
Good venue, stage was in the center and allowed great viewing from the floor. Mumford and Sons, March 2019
Rays are awesome... super friendly staff and a great place for a birthday party!
Two reviews in one here, lets start with the Performing Arts Center. I like the fact that they have some great performers who have shows here. I enjoy concerts, preferably rock concerts. Its (The Performing Arts Center) not the type of venue where youll rock out or anything. Its a pretty reserved audience so it kind of dampens the mood for a rock concert. You cannot take pictures or videos inside, so dont plan on snagging a picture of your favorite artist on stage. Security is really strict about that. Thats their job, so I dont hold it against them. However, the staff seem to be a bit rude and unhelpful here to be honest. The Performing Arts Center is not my favorite place for a concert, however, its a nice venue for other types of performing arts. Ill return, but only when I know for sure that this is the only place to catch a particular performer anywhere near me. If the artist is performing at another location nearby AND this venue, Id more than likely choose the other venue to see that performer. Just being honest. I do enjoy the Coliseum though for concerts! Theres a HUGE difference between the two Performing Arts Center and the Coliseum venues. Now, the Coliseum is an awesome place for seeing concerts. I wish I had an option to review these two different venues separately, as they are two different venues. The Coliseum would be 5 stars and the Performing Arts Center would be a 3.
Laid back venue. One of my favorite places to catch a concert. Im always surprised how big the seats are. Plenty of space between rows too. Acoustics are perfect.
Great venue! Located by Tanger and lots of restaurants. Will definitely be back for future events!
Went to see the stingrays play, and had a blast. Our seats were pretty easy to find. The concessions were reasonably priced compared to most.
Caught the KISS concert here. Would definitely come back for hockey season too.
A great and save place. I was here for a graduation ceremony.
We have been here numerous times and always have a blast! Fun for all ages!
Good location, easy to get in and out of. Crowd control was great.
We have been here for many performances over the years. But Kansas has outperformed any musical concert we have attended! Excellent show!
Wish the parking wasnt cash only. In this day and age, the technology is there to offer other options...Also, be aware of the NO BAGS policy, or youll be making a walk back to your car.
The PBR rodeo was great 5 stars for them. The low rating is for the parking. We were almost to the main entrance before they closed it down and rerouted everyone to the other entrance half hour before start of show. No one directing traffic back there until you get into parking lot. It took us 45 minutes to get into parking lot. Parking needs to be fixed.
Awesome....loved the Disney on Ice..cannot wait until next year...
Awesome! Took my 5 year old grandson toThe Monsterjam 2020!
First time here. Very nice venue! Great acoustics and not a bad seat in the house.
Went to the Trump rally here. This place did great hosting us all. Not a bad seat in the place
We had an awesome time at Sesame Street however you should really think about not selling bubbles to kids until after the fact. Because the bubbles going up in the stands hitting other peoples faces is not a good thing. Some people could be allergic. That could be a lawsuit!
Weve enjoyed every show weve seen here. Overall, easy to access location and they do a decent job of traffic control for the larger events. Paying for parking at the venue always seems like a cheap ploy though.
Love going here. No seat is bad its a great experience every time. Very impressed with the Harry Potter show
Five Finger Death Punch Concert was totally AWESOME
The hockey game was very entertaining. Only downside was the food. It was our first Sting Rays game and didnt know after the first period almost all the food was sold out. No kids meals available, hot dogs, or pizza. My kids were pretty bummed. The Sting Rays won so that was exciting to cheer them on to victory.
The first and only time Ive been to this venue was way back in 2017 to see Hall and Oates perform. It was an awesome experience. The ticket prices seemed fair, the venue was clean, and the acoustics were great too. Everything sounded crystal clear. Honestly, it was one of the better concert experiences I can remember. I would imagine other events held there are just as enjoyable. Go check the place out and have a great time!
We saw Hall & Oates! Easy in & out. Great experience
I love the PAC. Just saw Rain tonight. The Beatles tribute band. They were awesome. Highly recommend. The staff at the facility were all very helpful, friendly, and professional.
Great venue -- saw Sebastian. Coordination & directives to the crowd left a lot to be desired. Not enough signs or personnel giving instruction.
The stadium was very organized and easy to navigate, and you were never that far away from the performer no matter your seat. I really enjoyed my first concert at the arena and I look forward to many more! The ONLY reason this venue isnt getting 5 stars is because of its outrageous drink prices. I completely understand up charging and making money, I get it. But 10 dollars for a small alcoholic drink? Seriously? I think that is wildly priced, but thats just me. Because the liquor and beer you provided werent even the higher end brands.BUT overall, I really did enjoy my time there.
We stood in the hot sun for 5 hours+ only to find when we got in that only 3 concession stands were open for 13,000+ people. We are here for President Trumps Rally. The lack of concessions are rediculous.
We had an amazing time at the Alan Jackson concert! My parents came from states away to visit me and attend this concert for my dads birthday. Unfortunately, when I arrived I learned that my tickets purchased on a third-party app were no good so we had to purchase new tickets - only seats remaining were in the nosebleeds. My husband asked an usher if we could sit in our original seats if no one sat there, and she said we could after Alan Jackson got on stage (she would come get us). Sure enough, Alan Jackson came on stage and the usher came to get us. She then informed us that there were people sitting in those seats, but that she had an even better surprise: wristbands for the pit/floor section! We couldnt believe it! For her kindness alone this place deserves 5+ stars.Everyone was so nice and the venue was very easy to navigate, etc. Beerand concessions prices are high, but in line with what other venues charge. I would definitely go here again for an event. (Update - I did receive a refund for my bad ticket purchase! Will only buy through Ticketmaster from now on!)
Clean and friendly with excellent family friendly events often! Easy parking and helpful staff. Awesome management!
Went for Phish and their 3 night run last December. Staff was cool, got us through security fast AF... Got right down on the floor with my refillable water bottle which was super cool. Even got given some ice and lemons!
I enjoy the many events held there. I feel safe in the arena, the food venues are good, and I never have any difficulty with parking or exiting the parking area with ease and expediency.
Had a very lovely time at their dinner theater performance, Carol of the Bells. The food was very good and the performance was great! Also, the night was very reasonably priced. I wou look d definitely go back for another performance!
$10 to park so I would park close and Uber over for $6. Beers are all $10, pretty pricey. Its fun to watch hockey in Charleston. Go stingrays!
Im not a fan at all of the Colisuem! Ive went there twice since I moved to South Carolina. The first time was for a hockey game, which I felt was personally over priced and for the Donald Trump rally a few weeks back. When I went to the hockey game, it was defiently a different experience. Like I mentioned above, I feel like it was over priced. I couldnt even understand what the guy was saying the entire game. I dont know if his mouth was too close to the microphone or what. I couldnt understand a thing. I also didnt like the fact ever second I had cow bells ringing. I would never go back even if someone paid me. Maybe if I could actually hear to be able to understand what was going on a little Id feel differently. When we went to the Donald Trump rally, I have to admit Im about 50/50 on it. Ive went to one in WV before he was President and I felt it was SO much better and more organized!! The outside here wasnt God awful. They had a solid line up, which wasnt bad. A lot of people cut line still though. They would have friends or family members hold a spot in line and theyd just up there. Thats not fair for anyone and very poorly managed. I liked they had people walking around asking if youre registered to vote, etc. That was nice and have the big screen up was also a huge plus. Although I have to ask, why do people think they can take lawn chairs in? I mean how dumb can people be? Im sorry, but do you really think theyll let you do that?Thats insane! The inside in my opinion was a disaster. We got there around 9:30am and were kinda far back in line. Well we made it to the floor, very very close to the front. In WV the first two rows were reserved for people who donate big money. Behind him were coal minors. They had no seats on the floor, it was standing room only which was stupid. We had some women near us who thought the world revolved around them and decided to sit down causing the biggest fire hazard ever. Well security finally saw them and made them get up. But somehow they brought in Im guessing a comforter from the hotel. It was insane!!!One decided to sit back down and be stupid. It was a huge mess. The music was horrible, and way too loud. Someone should have been speaking the majority of the time to get your mind off the long wait. And even when someone spoke it was hard to hear for someone people.I personally feel theyre just there to make a buck off people. Food should not have been allowed in period. You could have gotten food outside.Basically I will put it this way. I will NEVER be back!!
Saw a show here recently. Great venue with tons of hotels nearby.
This is a very nice venue. The staff was friendly too. Of course the food is over priced but luckily there is a Wendys a short walk over a wooden bridge behind the venue. Eat there before you go. The police did a great job of traffic control also. I would not hesitate to go to another event here and I had to drive 2.5 hours to get there.
Awesome venue! Saw The Nutcracker for the first time as an adult. Great performances. Just remember, its like going to a concert: drinks are pricey.
This venue is the most disorganized venue I have ever been to! If it’s a big event don’t plan on eating here because you’ll wait in line for 2+ hours to have them shut the concessions down and be given nothing to eat or drink! Also the sound system is absolutely horrible. Worst experience I have ever had at a venue like this! Obviously completely unprepared for an event of this size!
I dont like the seating there is no center walkway for movement and if needed escape in the lower area. 70+ seats side by side is scary . Shows have been great.
Great place to see concerts! The sound was great and not too loud! The concessions, like everywhere else, are ridiculously expensive! Overall a great experience.
Ive rated 5 stars because its easy to get to, theres parking on site and theres a variety of entertainments. Last weekend we went to the professional bull riding tour - which was great (once we were in our seats).BUT the event was just about sold out - parking was very slow which was bad enough, but then the lines to get through security were ridiculous - only 2 people checking pocketbooks!Apparently theyre moving to see-through bags but they will still need more staff directing and doing security.
Saw Disney on Ice. Venue was nice, clean, and all the staff were super helpful and friendly.
Entry was disorganized and took too long. Venue was easy to navigate and the shape of the room provided for largely even sound. Be prepared to $$$ for drinks. Everyone was friendly and I had a great time.
Saw Phish here and was surprised by the quality of the sound. Pleasantly surprised!
Hockey game was good but the concessions now that theyve moved them into those two areas only still in line for 30 minutes had plenty of pretzels until I got to the end of the line and then they only had one and were not ready for the volume.
We had an outstanding time at the Alan Jackson concert! Our memories will last a lifetime! Had an issue with the tickets that were purchased well before hand and had to buy another set of four. But an angel of an usher/security person gave us the opportunity to go on the floor! It felt like there was many courteous people in North Charleston SC! It was truly A Good Time!
Staff is amazing, hardly any wait for food or beverage. The police inside were very kind and accommodating, the ones right outside the doors however where aggressive. Very aggressive.
Nice place to see a venue. Doesnt seat a lot. Probably reason there arent more shows. Nice clean place. Smoking is all outside. Nice that Embassy suites is attached to it. So if you travel a distance you can stay there and walk to Arena
The staff was super nice and hooked us up big time with great seats for me and my pregnant wife during a sold out weekend long event. Really made the experience so much better, Thank You!left is where I always turn the phish
This place is awesome! I saw my nephew graduate here last year. Last night we were at the Coliseum again for my very first Hockey game! Its a large, clean, multi functional space for any number of events.
We come to NCC all the time between hockey games, concerts, and more. Weve never had a bad experience. The bathrooms are clean, the concessions arent extremely priced, and theres not really a bad seat in the place.Lets Go Rays!
Great Love Life Conference! Awesome venue!
Traffic getting in was horrible, but other than that, it is exactly what I remember from 20 yrs ago.
It would be really helpful if they had a different entrance/exit for disabled persons. This would not only help the disabled persons from being frustrated/stressed/fatigued - it would also mean that they could enjoy the event so much more. Last time I was there it was not as much fun as it could have been as there was no directions to the disabled parking and there was still quite a walk to the event. Its a nice venue but Really not handicap accessible, which was really surprising. I hope that theyve upped their game since then!
Great seating, it slopes down towards the stage, so really every seat is good. The acoustics are great. One of the better places to catch a show
Enjoyed watching the Rays win against the SwampRabbits. This was what we dis for my 4year old grandsons birthday. This kid loves playing hockey and watching it. Been skating since he was 2
Great venue...going back for more show! Bob Seger was awesome!
Granddaughter was dancing at the Globetrotters game. How lucky we are to be part of these memories. As for the Globetrotters, Thats my kind of basketball! FUN!!!
We went for a rally. While there was plenty of room for spectators, the concessions are only in one enclosed area. You have to line up to get in. Terrible setup for a coliseum.
Nice colosseum and rabid hockey fans. These guys love their Stingrays!!
The coliseum is okay but the Performing Arts Center is great. Good acoustics and they have a variety of concerts and shows. The absence of a center aisle is a bit of a nuisance, but I dont make a big deal of it. Its still a good venue.
Pretty good arena, easy to get into and out of. I always have a good time here. The seats are a little tight and the beer is overpriced.
Had a great time with my daughter. Just make sure you bring your own drink /food we went to see frozen on ice & it was great, but they wanted $10 for a lemonade plus all the other stuff they try to sell you. Pack your own snacks and water!!!
We had an amazing time at President Trumps rally. The only thing is they could have had more concession area open. There was a very large crowd there
Saw James Taylor. A phenomenal show!
Went to a hockey game and i had a blast. Everything was set up the way it should be and where i was seated was clean and the seating area is easy to find. It was very nice
Missed half the show (Dave Chappelle) because the venue required 95% of people to get their tickets from Will Call and only staffed it with three people. We showed up 40 minutes early and waited in line for 2 hours. Staff couldnt even manage the lines - instead there was a jumbled mass of people that became increasingly hysteric. Staff was constantly yelling our misinformation and contradicting one another. A group of smart middle schoolers could have organized a better event.
I love thier hockey and monster truck they have clean bathrooms nice workers and the best food and is you could not get close to the areana for the monster trucks they had busses to pick you up
Took my grandson to see monster truck jam..his first hes three....loved it and the arena the glory on his face worth a million...for sure a embedded memory and a start of a tradition
Great place to take in a hockey game.
Went to see my grandson graduate from high school. I had to use my walker that day. They walked all those with special conditions right to an area for them. I was truly impressed. Very special day!
So VERY DISAPPOINTED from yesterdays services....Totally get standing in line for events and food...but to stand in line for an Employee to make a comment to another Human Being after we have all been standing in lines not only to get in but to also get something to eat and or just a water and be told and I quote after customer was refused service when asked the question what do I do if my sugar drops, I have been waiting in line for over 2 hours and the employee literally says Not my problem, Its Illegal for me to CONTINUE to sell food.and shuts the metal windows..all awhile having plenty of food available in the only 2 concession stands you had open. Totally would understand getting to your turn and no more food because u are out and have to close. And then well lets be honest way more then 200 people still in line after 2 and 3 hours standing in that line to walk to their seats and see SEVERAL employees standing around with a hotdog and a mt. dew or a bottle water...YOU, NORTH CHARLESTON COLISEUM OWNERS AND EMPLOYEES SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF FOR THAT and being WAY WAY Understaffed, which btw was so unfair to your other employees who tried to atleast get water for their guests!!
I attended the Joyce Meyer conference which was amazing. The venue is older but kept clean. The only thing I was not happy about was the venue refusing to allow purses in to a woman conference. We all paid quite a bit for the tickets, so to have to worry about how to carry personal items..was very disappointing. There was enough parking and good food selection.
Seats were pretty good. TVs did not show speakers. Audio was just ok.
Saw Diana Ross. She was amazing. The venue is great!
Great place to watch Minor League hockey really exciting when you sit down low next to the players box really entertaining friendly staff
Always good Also the employee who works north ticket seller was priceless. Nice to have a person like Gordon. Made you smile and made it easier and not minding giving up your change
Nice venue. Great parking. Great staff. The beer is a little pricey.
Went to Monster Jams here for the first time and had a blast! Recommend that you Uber in as the traffic was heavily congested getting in and out.
We had a great time at the Tyler childers concert!
Comfortable venue for the Joyce Meyer Ministries Women Conference but needed more food vendors for all the guests. Looooong lines. Also, healthier choices of food would have been nice for 8,500 women.
Saw the Lion King and it was amazing. There were no bad seats. Would definitely see a show in this venue again.
Great spot for a show. A little crowded, but fun.
