Figure skating here is great, sometimes very high elite skaters are on sessions. Coaches care about Kids and pro shop is stocked to fit skaters. They order in too if not immediately available.

It is a very cheap place to go to and they offer both figure skates and hockey skates. There are a lot of children, but most of them are fantastic at Ice skating. The line to turn in our gear can get very long, but it usually moved pretty fast. There is also the option to host a birthday party at the Ice palace, and you can order pizza from them. The pizza isnt the greatest, but definitely edible.

Great place for two hour weekend fun!

Went for hockey tournament. Two sheets of ice. Facility better than average but somewhat confusing as to placement of locker rooms, concessions, bathrooms,... Bar was average at best. Poor beer selection. Poor location, again no signage or indication as to what was where. You have to wander around or find someone who works there which isnt exactly easy considering they have no signage themselves. Lots of traffic through central area. Just not well laid out. Second level viewing was useless.

On Sunday the ice belongs to hockey gamers like sure they are hockey gamers but for the entire time it’s open it’s for hockey like people might want to skate to

Went to the Try Hockey for Free event this morning, kids had a blast! One third of the rink was blocked off for free style skating and walkers were provided for the kids who were new at it; another third was for hitting the puck around; and the last for shooting against a goalie.There were employees helping to give guidance and corral the newborn gazelles, giving hockey tips, just kind of free floating where needed. All of them had sharp eyes for when one of the kids was looking for help, I felt comfortable backing off and letting the kids fall where they may.Overall great time, this was really fun. Only down side is two of them want to learn hockey now so Id better save up for the dental bills. What was I thinking?! Thank you, Carolina Ice Palace!

We have been coming every weekend now. Its a wonderful place to spend the day. So much fun!

Playing hockey here is a blessing because I wanted to get back into hockey for so long and finally had the chance when I moved to Charleston! I would only suggest to fix the ice on a more regular basis.

A very nice facility with courteous and helpful staff. Unfortunately, it is not family friendly and quite unsafe for small children. There are a half dozen or so apparently regular customers who skate around and around the rink at speeds approaching 20 mph as they dodge in and out of the children. I asked one of the young men how much he weighed and he said 180 pounds. I explained the physics of 180 pounds travelling 20 mph and concentrated in 4 square inches of kneecap while striking a 40 pound child. He respectfully listened and responded well. The 140 pound young man who actually hit a child did not respond so well. He said it was the childs fault for turning unexpectedly.

The Carolina Ice Palace has an outstanding family fun atmosphere in which to make great family memories. They have something to entertain persons of all ages. Tremendous job CIP, keep up the good times

I play adult hockey here. Ice is in good shape most games, has a nice bar, and a well stocked pro shop.

My daughter and I go all the time and the people are always nice. The shop there is great when got skates from there and they made sure that it fit are feet perfect.Thank you all the employee that work there!!!

Absolute chaos! Worst holiday planning ever. No mention of one rink down, too many people crammed into the one working rink. Ran out of skates so paid for two who didnt get to skate. Impromptu parties taking up tables so no place to sit with a snack. Rudest adults Ive ever encountered. Palace needs to rethink their holiday skate times and skate availability before having to pay then,just watch rest of group enjoy themselves! Will certainly think twice before returning with out of town guests

Their adult learn to skate is a waste of money if you are a true beginner. The class has nearly 30 adults and 1 instructor with 1 or 2 helpers. Of the 30 people only 5 or 6 were true beginners, the rest were all looking to pick up 1 specific skill. The beginners got very little attention and the rest us were coached on the skill(s) we were hoping to obtain skating backwards or snowplow stop. Therefore, I learned a few things, but I felt bad for the few individuals who spent 100 dollars to learn how to stand and march on the ice after 10 weeks and should have been the only ones in the class so they could get sufficient help. They should have separated it into 2 classes.

Unpleasant and condescending party manager. 2 of the employees were simply outstanding, but the manager had a foul attitude and was borderline disrespectful to my mother and one of the guest. The people under her clearly did not enjoy working with her either. Will be reaching out to the owners on the details of our visit.

The ice palace has been open for 45min and the line was still out the door. Long line times = less time for my kids to ice skate. Wouldnt recommend.

My son is learning skate and I really am happy as he is enjoying with the way they are teaching.

I like coming here but the rental skates arent the most comfortable. I dont expect them to be but some are so old they need to be retired. The staff is fine, but sometimes when I am here there are unsupervised children that just weave through people and sometimes pushing people out of the way. Other than that, it is a lot of fun and highly recommend any time of the year!

I love skating here with my kids on Sunday afternoons. The snack bar is great for grabbing some refreshment while taking a break from the ice. However, sometimes it is so crowded it is just not worth going. It would be nice if they would have maybe a once a week 16+ free skate, so that people who want to skate without tons of screaming children leaving their walkers all over the place can do so. Their rental skates are also terrible. Sometimes they will let you trade them in for ones that dont hurt so much, but the last time I tried to do so, I was told that the good skates were only for people taking lessons/figure skating there. Ended up buying my own skates because the ones they rent out are so bad you cant really skate in them.

This is a great place to cool off and have fun on those really hot summer days.

Fun for the whole family. Great prices, friendly staff, reasonable prices on birthdays. Sign your kids up for a class and one of their awesome instructors will teach them at their level. My kids have been taking classes there for years and love it.

We stopped in just to check it out. A hockey game was in progress and it was kind of cool (no pun intended), to watch for awhile. We stopped in to the sports shop on our way back out, and bought a Pittsburgh Penquins Hockey hat, last one on the rack, mind you. All in all, an interesting place.

I love visiting the rink when we come down. My kids skate and Staci, in the bar, is so friendly!

We love coming in here to skate. I forgot to see if they have a season pass or anything like that, but it would be very nice if they did. Going on Sunday can get busy because a lot of kids are usually there, but still very skate-able.

The only place (that Im aware of) you can ice skate in the Lowcountry. This is also the home of Charlestons professional hockey team (Go Stingrays!). They have a small hockey boutique shop and finder food. Its a nice place that gets a little busy on weekends.

Food is great, priced appropriately. Beer selection is great, cheaper than most places in town. Bartenders are awesome, if their name is Staci.

Its an amazing place and fun to do with friends but its very popular and a lot of people run into each other on the ice. If you stay to the wall or know what your doing than that wont be a problem though.

Walked in to try the Penalty Box sports bar. Asked the person at the entry kiosk where it was. She pointed to the back, but didnt bother to take the effort to mention it was closed. Wasted a good walk for nothing. For the record Google said it opened at 1800 and I went around 1900.

Do NOT call this place to book a child’s birthday party unless you want to disappoint your child. My wife and I called three weeks in advance to book a birthday party for our daughter. We sent out invitations to her friends and all of our family in preparation. We received a call this morning informing us that we were going to have to reschedule our child’s party because they scheduled a hockey tournament after the fact. Their “party supervisor” refused to take ownership for their error, showed no empathy at all, offered no accommodation for the inconvenience, and simply told us we would have to reschedule for another date. My wife and I are now left to explain to our daughter why she can’t have the party that she wanted along with having to book another venue and update all of the invitations that were sent out a week ago.

Public skate is fun but can get crowded because its very popular. Decently priced public skate. Pro shop is decently helpful and has good selection of hockey gear. Wish it had more public skate times, cheaper prices for gear and they brought back the arcade but still an amazing spot to be at any time of day or night.

Typical skating area, 2 rinks snack shop and a pro shop. The only problem with this place is the bar inside, selling alcohol is definitely not necessary for high school hockey games. Some of the parents are bad enough without it. I can understand having the bar open for college and after adult pickup and beer leagues, but come on when high school kids are playing?

This place is absolute trash. My daughter has been going there for lessons and practice for 2 years which ended today. We have dealt with the awful service, sky high prices, and food that may not be fit for human consumption for years until today when they tried to double charge us for lessons insisting that is how its been for years. The front desk girl, the assistant manager, and the general manager were all the most horrible, condescending people Ive ever dealt with. When I brought up the fact that I have never, in 2 and a half years, had to pay the extra fees they were trying to charge they began to act like it was my fault that the service was so bad. The manager kept telling me that I would do whatever he told me to do as if I were a slave rather than a customer who has spent thousands of dollars there. I am beyond disgusted with how my daughter and I were treated and do not recommend you visit. This is a terrible operation run by an absolutely awful human being. Management were the most rude, condescending people I have ever dealt with. The food is priced higher than an amusement park and I dont know for sure that its even fit for human consumption. The pizza is made with cheese that doesnt even need to be chewed before it dissolves - cheese should not do that. The prices have gone through the roof while the quality has hit the floor.If youre on vacation or looking for a fun night out, I suggest you head down to Frankies Fun Park. I promise you, you will regret it.

This place is fun.

Never have what I need and always over priced. So I went in and there was no one to greet me.. then I get told I didnt pay, my kids got ran through the ringer and things werent as fun as I was trying to make this trip with my family. Needless to say I will find other sources of entertainment besides this and with this being Charleston that should be very easy to do. The ice palace.needs to step their game up and hire adults instead of children and people who cant man their posts at the front. New things to do and more fun to be had.

From a hockey players perspective: The facility was clean, locker rooms had no smell, and the pro shop all is good. I bought a pair of CCM jetspeed skates and I was helped being fitted, baked, and trying on various skates until they found my tailored fit. I never have had a pair of skates fit so well (thanks to CCM) but also the staff who helped where patient and helped me try on numerous pair. However about 6 months later after purchasing my skates the steel on one broke. I could not find my receipt and in order to have my warranty my CCM covered I needed it. John helped me out by going through the system and printing out the receipt and emailing me a picture. This type of service I appreciate mostly and would recommend the pro shop to anyone looking for hockey gear (plus they have sales)

Not a bad place to spend your afternoon... On busy afternoons this place tends to get crowded. Im my experience... your experience will be better with less people. This rink is kind of small, therefore I give it 4 stars. Everything else is spectacular, staff is very helpful!

Best (only?) place in town to go ice skating. They rent skates of all sizes as well as two sizes of walker designed to help inexperienced skaters stay vertical. The staff is friendly and helpful, and despite a strong odor of hockey locker room upon entering the building, the facilities are clean.

We take homeschool learn to skate classes. Weve been talking lessons for over a year and absolutely love it. My girls have improved monumentally in their skating skills.

Cool place, but the bar didnt open on time.

The ice just keeps getting worse and worse. According to their website the rink just got redone, but there is no way to tell that after you step out onto the ice. It is full a groves and feels like you are skating on a gravel road. I am happy to have an ice rink around here but if there was another option I would go somewhere else. The best thing about this place is the pro shop. The people in there are very helpful and are willing to take the time to make sure you get what you need.

I have been taking my little girl Bailey Rose there for almost 2 and a half years, she will be 11 in December this year, I feel like this is the best place to all around be a kid and grow up in a great environment. She not only loves the figure skating, but all of her best friends are there! I cant say enough about this place, but I will say its our favorite place in Charleston to go for good clean FUN!
