Seems like a good place for firing ceramic work, since my campus closed the our clay studio. You do have to pay for firing, which Im not sure how they determine how much youll be paying. Paid around $20 to get a couple of projects fired, so I think its a fine alternative for now. Havent ordered anything off their store yet though.
I started ordering with the ceramic shop during covid. They have been great and responsive via email and have called me when I requested it. They even did their best to get my orders together quickly when I told them I would be in the area (my studio is down in Delaware). They do have super long lead times on equipment right now but were super transparent about that with out me asking. very happy to be ordering from them! ️
Absolutely amazing company! I don’t remember the name of person I talked to on the phone but they were super helpful and made sure my order was ready for my friend to pick up! Definitely went out of his way to ensure my order was ready to go! A+++++ and claps/snaps to them!
I purchased a kiln from this store online in August, never received it and in September Marc said he spoke with the company and would arrive mid-October (after MANY unanswered calls, emails and PayPal dispute). I said I wanted a refund if I did not receive it and it is NOVEMBER and I still dont have a kiln or a refund for >$1,000 item. BEWARE!

This place is awesome! I have worked with ceramics for a little while, but with COVID, I decided it was time to create my own home studio. I ordered a Skutt KM-822 through the Ceramic Shop, and Kelly was in touch right away with helpful information to prepare for my kilns arrival. She was super transparent about Skutts currently delay (not in her control at all) and answered my endless stream of questions along the way. My kiln has arrived and Kelly was available (and extremely prompt!) to answer emails with further questions I had. Overall, I am so happy with this experience and I will definitely shop here again!
I’ve spent thousands of dollars at this shop but it’s only because I believe in second chances. The first purchase was a kiln and wheel. I payed for it but never received an order confirmation. So I called and they acted like I had not ordered it even though I could prove it. Finally they found my order. They refused to send my wheel first even though it was already made, I’d pay the shipping and the kiln was going to take and additional two months. Fine, so I waited two months for everything.Their processing time can be insane. Much much longer than other websites. I’m really over them. Now they lost $50 worth of glaze. I received an email saying it shipped and it wasn’t in the box. I need this glaze to fulfill my orders! Now I might have angry customers because of their disorganization. It’s now been two weeks and I haven’t been able to reach anyone by phone or email (the email they ask you to contact). That’s borderline illegal and I want my money back. Will be taking my business somewhere that actually sends what they’re going to send.
I cant say enough great stuff about The Ceramic Shop. I have had great experiences with the staff. When I was shopping for a new kiln, I had great personal customer service. I needed supplies and found nearly everything on their website (if something was out of stock, the website actually said OUT OF STOCK, amazing!). I have tried buying supplies and equipment from the biggest online ceramic store and they are simply terrible. Read the reviews. Thankfully the clay community has a great online store they can trust, The Ceramic Shop! I sincerely mean this: The Ceramic Shop is a small business I will support for as long as I possibly can. Thank you for everything you do Ceramic Shop, please know it is truly appreciated.
I have shopped at The Ceramic Shop for many years. But will no longer. Their staff is rude and clearly cares nothing about customer service. If you place an order with The Ceramic Shop be prepared to inquire at least once about your order and cross your fingers that you are given the items you paid for. If you complain expect to be treated as if you are in the wrong. This is not a store where they care about customer satisfaction.
DO NOT BUY FROM HERE. I just recently purchased a wheel from this shop online. I received a confirmation email that my order had been processed but no email with tracking information. I waited a couple days and heard nothing so I sent an email asking about it. Nothing. So I sent a couple more. And 4 phone calls. Both phone calls went through voicemail. I’ve tried to contact them. That I’m extremely frustrated to not have heard anything and that I no longer want the product for the sheer negligence and disregard they show for their customers. IT HAS BEEN OVER A MONTH OF TRYING TO CONTACT THEM. Lack of attentiveness that makes me doubt what kind of quality their products might have. If they can’t ensure the quality of their customer service, I can’t have the faith that they will in their product. They stated on their website and in the order that shipping would take about 2 weeks. The worst part about not being able to contact them is that I cant be sure they’ll cancel my wheel order so I can buy one from somewhere else. They’ve practically stolen my money at this point. I don’t want to give them my business and I don’t want to be stuck trying to send them back a heavy piece of machinery at my expense simply because they were irresponsible.
After many years as a ceramic shop customer, this shop Just gets better. My first kiln purchase was in 2012 from the ceramic shop. Every step of my pottery journey has been supported by this professional team of artists and technicians who know their business. Now a studio owner myself, I continue to rely on this quality team to keep things running in my studio. Along with my old faithful kiln! And wheels and all the rest. How to kill a business 101. Live in Canada and wanted to order something. Online they say, I needed to contact international sales for a quote. Apparently nobody answer the phone or reply email. Hey guys, covid dont spread through a telephone lines. it is so easy to get extra ip phone number home for cheap.... have to pay more in other store, but They at least answer the phone!!
I HAD A DIFFICULT TIME FINDING A SPECIFIC PART AND ASKED FOR HELP LOCATING ONE. THEY KEPT IN CONTACT WITH ME TO INFORM ME OF THEIR PROGRESS. THE STAFF WENT FAR BEYOND WHAT COULD BE EXPECTED OF THEM AND FOUND THE CRUCIAL PART, I NEEDED. I AM SO IMPRESSED WITH THEIR SERVICE. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY!!

Shopping online was easy with pick up available. However they were out of so many things. Like to rolling pins. I ordered a Uwedgemat and a wooden turntable. The wooden turntable is made of pressboard with a laminate. It works fine but really isnt wood.The wedgemat had tape residue on the canvas side. For $40 Id think it might be in better shape.This is my first time shopping here so I cant really say but so far I am not impressed.

Yes, they are moving slowly. Yes, its annoyingly slow. But they are moving.My order was well packed. I received an incorrect item and reached out via email. It took a full week to get a confusing reply. Im not sure why I had to send a photo of the wrong item? Or why they have so many customer service issues that it takes more than a week to straighten out their mistakes? With two representatives. Or why I had to email again days after I sent the requested picture to ask for a return label. I did get my refund and a return label, since the item i ordered is out of stock. But I also feel a little bit like they sent me the wrong item on purpose, instead of just canceling the out of stock item. So I wont say not to order from them, but I will say that was probably the last time Ill order from them.

Items arrived damaged. I had a hard time getting in touch with them at first... I was almost afraid that I would not be able to get my items replaced. When I did get through, I learned that they had never received my emails :(Liz was AWESOME in working with me... so kind, so pleasant! She looked at the photos I sent and happily sent out replacements the very next morning... She even called me right before shipping to let me know it was on the way AND emailed the tracking!I will purchase from them again!
I ordered a kiln online in the beginning on February 2020. Despite kilns usually taking weeks to be made and delivered, the one I wanted was already in stock. So I received my kiln within 3 weeks of ordering. I did have a loose element when I got everything unpacked. I reached out to Kelly as she was who I initially was in contact with for my purchase but also because the website lists her as the point of contact for repairs. She helped me out with advice, an instructional video, and sent the Skutt pins I needed along with shipping/tracking info. I was very pleased with my kiln purchasing experience and have since ordered glaze from The Ceramic Shop. Im hoping for another good purchase experience.HOWEVER, before kiln purchase my husband twice called the 800 number listed on the website trying to get advice before we ordered. He left 2 voicemails and didnt get a callback. Still leaving 5 stars for my overall experience as of today!

Great clean well lit place to get your glazes, clay and tools at. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Just wish they were open on Sundays.
Poor customer service. My account says order is shipped and complete. No tracking number given. Emailed multiple times and left multiple voice mails. No response. Very disappointed. Was looking forward to trying my new toys. Order with caution.
It has everything ceramics youll ever need. Unfortunately they lost my order and had to wait almost two months to get it. As long as you dont need it right away I recommend!

Went in pretty much having an idea what I needed to get started. However past that I was almost clueless. The Ceramic Shop staff was flat outstanding in helping me along. I drove an hour from where I live. Because its by far and above worth the knowledge an outstanding staff, and every Ceramic product available under a single roof can give you ! Very worth the trip. And will make it over and over...
There is staff there....but not very helpful whatsoever. Most of them are busy, i guess. One guy hauling clay from one place to another had an attitude when i had a question about a price. I also overheard someone that worked there politely cursing someone out over the phone about her degrees in ceramics and etc. Must have been the same lady that hung up on me a few days prior when I was asking a question about the products they sell. Depending on how good this clay is, I may or may not be back. The guy really rubbed me the wrong way. Also the store seems haphazardly put together (kind of like the website)and nothing is clearly marked(as far as clay, also just like the website lol). Im gonna pray for them, because they definitely need it.

Ordered a Mini Slab roller on 1/1/2019. Order went through however on their site my order is there but no help on the phone or through the email address I was asked to use for follow up. I have called numerous times and have not spoken to anyone, message not returned. My wife really needs this item and I am about to cancel my credit card transaction.Help!

Its the only ceramic supply store within 2 hours of me and has everything a ceramic artist needs. Huge. But.. .My last few experiences here have been very bad. The clay I last purchased from them was contaminated and I wasted not only money but massive amounts of time and compromised customer relationships because of it.Also, their staff is often rude and unhelpful. They dont seem to know the business or their products very well and have been unable to provide information on how to use them.And the last time I came, after a 2 hr drive, they were closed during their normal business hours. A hand written sign was plastered to the door.Very frustrating.I used to recommend them but they have lost my business. They arent affordable enough or close enough to make dealing with them worth while.

I have been ordering items from this company for a while, but my recent experience with them was over the charts. I accidentally ordered the wrong tabletop wheel for demos, and even though their policy states no returns on equipment, they worked with me and allowed me to exchange it for the correct wheel. They wil always be my go to for pottery supplies!

If you are into pottery, you gotta go see the showroom! You will feel like a kid in a candy store! Google maps will take you to the Markley street side but the parking lot and entrance are on the opposite side of the building, with parking lot entrance on Basin street.
Just OK. Dont know if Ill shop here again though. Website said item was IN STOCK, order appeared to be shipped (based on the online order history). The day after the expected delivery date I got an email stating that my BACK ORDER ITEM HAD NOW SHIPPED. I had no idea anything was Back Ordered 10 days later still havent received it. This was my first order with them...and first impressions are so important....after this Im sure Ill look elsewhere and even pay a little more with a company that I know to have better practices.

I ordered a banding wheel. I received it, but it was horribly dusty, had what appeared to be clay in the grooves, and 2 long deep scratches on it. I suspect it was used. I sent an email with pictures to them No response.
Very well stocked with most everything a ceramic artist needs and the folks who work there are knowledgeable and helpful. They stock a good variety of clays and glazes, including their own line of glazes. Its a pain to get there, but they will be moving to Norristown within the next few months so access should be easier.

I love the staff, selection and everything about The Ceramic Shop. Im even glad its an hour or more away from me, because if it were closer I may need to take out a second mortgage since Im a tool junkie and they always have a great selection. The staff are always helpful, and if one doesnt have personal experience using a product or equipment, another usually does. Every proprietary product Ive tried (Mr. Marks Wax products, Hydrobats!!!, Crack Pots, etc.) have all worked exactly as promised and have been great investments. Oh, and did I mention that their prices are fantastic?
I ordered a Giffin Grip and an 80 mesh sieve from their online store! The trimming bat was offered at an awesome price (much lower than other ceramic suppliers) and the glaze sieve was a deal too! The shipping and processing was super fast and I received the package in great condition! I will be ordering through their site again next time I need pottery supplies!

Had a damaged box come in with expensive glaze that spilled all in the box. I have called and left three messages and 3 days later I STILL have not heard back from anyone. I am really used to companies I work with to be really great on just answering the phone. This was the first time I ordered, dont know if I will do so again.

I definitely wont ever shop here again. Ordered a Pottery Wheel and Kiln on Dec 6th - Pretty big purchase for me - $2,500 plus. The first thing that happened is they shipped the wrong wheel. After researching, I wanted a Brent and they shipped a Shimpo. It was a lower quality and I eventually got the difference in money refunded. It was too much of a hassle to return especially since it was on a palate, and a Christmas present, but now I regret I did not figure it out at the time. ( I have a feeling they just shipped what they had )Now Its been two months and they had this whole story about Skutt Kilns being back logged or something, and as of today they said they have shipped a kiln but can not get the third party shipper to respond and its been over a week. My local Potters center said the the supplier a half hour away has over 10 Skutt kilns in stock and not sure why I had to wait two months to get nothing. Frustrated and feeling duped !
