Great complex! Ive been going to games here for a few years to watch my nieces play and now my son is playing soccer too! Well-kept and organized. Theres a concession stand and sno cone truck (Ive never used either though) and a three-stall bathroom for girls and one for boys. Bathrooms are pretty clean for an outdoor facility. The fields are clean and the goals are in great shape.
So clean and well organized! Best soccer in the state!
Fields are nice. Parking for the tournament was tight, we had to get there an hour early to find a spot somewhat close to the field we were playing on. Plenty of food choices and concessions.
Norman Youth Soccer is a first class organization. From the coaches, the administration, and involvement in the community. They provide soccer in all competitive levels and stress developing champion qualities both on and off the field. I am proud to have such a wonderful program in my city and for my children to be part of it!!!
Phenomenal soccer club!!!
I have two kids who have moved through the program- from rec to academy and now competitive. I have been impressed with the impact that the coaches have had in my kids lives and feel that soccer has been instrumental in their growth outside of the classroom. Im thankful for the NYSA family!
I highly recommend NYSA for youth soccer. I coached my daughter for 5 years as a rec. player and we had a great time. She has been playing competitive soccer the last 4 years and it has been a great experience for her, learning life lessons & making friends.
I play Celtic and the fields are great!!
The staff at NYSA, everyone from the administration to the leadership to the coaches, love the kids they work with and are dedicated to skill development. Every place has it challenges, and that is no different for this club, but they are always striving to improve, both in procedure and in the facilities, and to create the best environment for the youth involved with soccer in Norman. Glad we can be a part of it.
It was a good experience for us. I would definitely encourage it.
Wonderful soccer experience here for all. Big things coming for the complex and the leadership group is always trying to be better!
Great experience for our child that is playing her 9th season in the club. As a rec, academy and competitive player, we know that even beyond soccer, she has been impacted by her coaches and mentors. Thanks NYSA!
Very poor refs! Poor scheduling! Cancels games if it has rain even a little the day before. So we’ve had to play 3 games in 2 days on more than a few occasions. Most of our team will not be signing back up to play at this facility ever again.
NYSA is a wonderful place to play. From recreational all the way up through competive it is a fantastic and professional environment. Very well run!
Our family has been a part of NYSA in some capacity since 2000 starting with Rec soccer, Academy and Competitive. All three of our children have been involved at all of these levels. Our children have also been training and worked as referees. The staff has always done a great job of investing in the kids regardless of what level they have played. I can say that our experience has not been perfect but honestly believe that the staff, the board truly want what is best for the players and want to use the vehicle of soccer to help kids grow not only as athletes but as confident and productive members of our community. You can really begin to see this environment manifest itself as former players are now having families and are investing their own time and energy into the club through volunteering in many capacities. NYSA is a gem in our community and we need to continue to support it at all levels.
Whether your child wants to play soccer recreationally or at the highest level, this club is the best around. Coaches at all levels care about player development.
Great complex and club! Love hosting the Striker/Keeper Camp at Gillis-Rother Soccer Complex every summer!
Don Rother and staff at NYSA are simply the best. My personal experience with 3 kids in the club has been amazing. Lots of clubs talk about development being the priority but NYSA practices it every day.Simply the bestT. Hammer
I have had two daughters be part of NYSA for many years. One at the recreational level when they were younger and both at the competive level as they got older. I can honestly say their experiences and mine have been very positive on many levels and they will carry the positive memories for many years to come. From the coaching to the friends for life they make, its worth every smile or tear. Its cliche but they have learned lessions for life.
These guys run an excellent program. We are proud to have our kid in it.
My kids love playing soccer but the way NYSA is running has turned into a complete joke. It is unfair that kids living in Norman have been put on the waiting list because of all the kids signing up to play from the surrounding towns. Norman kids should have the seniority to play. I am also very disappointed in the closing of the Store and that we will have to buy our uniforms online. I see this being a huge cluster of chaos once fall season starts. It is also ridiculous how they treat the refs. They rooster 7, 8 yr old kids to ref 12, 13 yr old boys by themselves. If my son didnt love soccer so much we would not keep feeding money to this association.
Mostly love the NYSA. I think the refs could do with a bit more training though.
Great place for kids to learn and play soccer. I saw parents enjoying more than the kids.
Terrible place, got mad at my kid for kicking a ball around the little fields at the front. Told us we could use the goals in the back. We go back there and the fields are a HAZARD. Ruts everywhere and the nets have tons of holes. Why offer public fields if your arent going to maintain them? Avoid at all costs.
How can you play competitive sports without the competition? No coaching or cheering from the sideline? Seriously?
My daughter loved playing soccer!
Great fields.
PLEASE get soccer season schedules out more quickly! Families have to make arrangements and plans around soccer, and we need more of a heads-up.
I saw a sign for soccer sign ups and called the number on the sign. The lady on the phone told me that teams were forming and to register online on their website and my child would be assigned a team. After I went online and paid almost a hundred dollars(which seemed a little steep to me) and completed my registration I got an email from Leah Tidwell saying that the teams had already formed and I would have to call around to all the team coaches myself to see if there was any space on a team for my child to join. I was annoyed since I had just called the day before and asked if teams were still forming and I was assured they were. Then I thought it was rather ridiculous to ask me to do all the leg work of finding my child a team. When I politely voiced my displeasure in a reply email, Leah Tidwell promptly emailed me back (within two hours of her first sending me an email) and said all the teams were full and I would just be given a refund. I immediately emailed her back and asked when and how I would be receiving my refund and NEVER heard anything back from her, I had to call the NYSA office the next day and she answered the phone so I asked her when I would get my refund and she said she already transferred it back into my account. I called my bank and asked if the funds were there or if there were any pending credits/deposits and they informed me there was none. It showed up back in my account days later thankfully. It struck me as odd that within the matter of two hours of her first contacting me all the teams filled up and there was no space for my child at all. This was the first time I signed my child up for an organized sport and I was so dissatisfied with the coldness and unprofessionalism of Leah Tidwell and the Norman Youth Soccer organization. Leah Tidwell never offered an apology or atleast compassion for this unfortunate situation. I would not consider ever involving my child with this organization ever again! I had already told my child that they were going to get to play soccer this season and then when all that was ripped out from underneath us it would have been decent for Leah Tidwell to atleast be remorseful and kind! If your wanting your child to play soccer take my advice and LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE!
