Many many years ago back in the LATE 1980’s I lived in the Vicksburg Village Apts across the street from the Irving Rec Center. I was a kid 9-12 years old at the time. I spent much of my free time playing pool, fuse ball, and basketball at this facility. I saw gang members beat each other with pool sticks, very young women pregnant with their first children and many other young kids going through rough times. Not saying that this at all what the rec center represents today, but during my young days it was a somewhat seedy yet educational environment. I spent a lot of my quality free time as a kid there and miss the memories.
Loving the atmosphere. Loud
Irving Recreation Center puts on a fantastic summer camp. I felt very confident dropping my kiddo off each day. The counselors are kind, attentive and energetic; theyre well- organized and my son made lots of positive memories (and some new friends!) this summer. The camp director is clearly very passionate about his job and you can see how that overflows into the staffs attitude. I have nothing but high praise for Irving Rec!
Just a normal junior high basketball gym. Enjoy watching my kiddo play ball.
Nice facility. It had a very nice set of bleachers that were actually comfortable for a huge volleyball crowd and, while the place was packed, we were comfortable enough.
The Pioneer Library System has a 24 hour library machine here. Its a great place to get a free movie or book.
Love that the school and community unite in this facility.
Staff are helpful and engage with the children.
Its a gym
Great place
