I love going to this theater every year for the showing of Its a Wonderful Life. Just recently went to an ISU Graduate School event here for the 3 Minute Thesis competition and this theater was a perfect setting for it.I plan to keep an eye out for indie film showings here so that I can give this theater more repeat business
Really cute theater with vintage vibes. Would definitely come back if they showed another 1940s romance movie. The vibe of watching a black and white movie in the beautifully preserved theater was an experience!
The Normal Theater is a great historical venue refurbished to look the way it did in the 1920s and is run by volunteers. We love the the variety of films available. Admission is reasonable, popcorn is only $1 and they even have a drawing or trivia before the show with prizes! Everyone is so friendly. Its like stepping back in time! Those ceiling lights in the photo are real neon lights.Just be sure to dress accordingly. In the winter, they turn up the heat quite high.
I always love going to the Normal Theater! They feature all kinds of film, from classics and indies, to the weird and obscure (like tonights treat, Hausu)! Wonderfully maintained classic theater.
This place was anything but normal. I attended a wedding here, and it was pretty cool with a nice atmosphere.
Went to a viewing of the documentary of Scramble the SeaWolves. It was a humbling experience. How many more untold stories of heroism are out there?
This old theater is nicely renovated. The lighting on the Marquee over the entrance is very nastalgic. The interior has a classic feel to it. The staff is friendly. They do a fantastic job. We enjoyed the popcorn and Pepsi! Loved it! Great experience.
Went to see The Rocky Horror Picture Show. It was a good and fun cast. Similar to what I remember from 40 years ago. It was an old theater with plenty of vintage charm. I wouldnt hesitate to return the experience was definitely something to enjoy.
Beautiful historical theater that play great one off movies and cinematic classics
This is a wonderful volunteer run, historic theater. It plays oldies, goodies, and often is the only way to see some of the smaller independent titles in town. Cash only, but cheap and fun.
Amazing movies and great feeling. Lots of great and classic movies. Always looking for another classic to see Everytime I pass by and is an amazing historical building!
The environment was a little posh for the Rocky Horror Picture Show, but it was a beautiful building and they did an amazing job, especially for being an all coed troupe. They really practiced some great choreography, so we veterans could tell it was a tight show. Wish they offered it every week, it at least every month!
Awesome historical theatre. Great atmosphere and good show. Acafellaz were awesome.
All the charm of a single-screen theater with excellent prices for college students, . Ive been to multiple screenings at this theater and the experience as an audience member can be varied. Firstly, the crowd can be entirely college students, sometimes drunk, who laugh and sneer at any chance theyre given in a film. I guess Re-Animator wasnt made with a sedated audience in mind, but the audience participation can be a bit much at times. Another thing to note about the theater is that the audio mixing can be all over the place. I was there for Citizen Kane with the audio was turned up WAY too loud (enough to make my dad plug his ears), and for Purple Rain, where I could hear individual audience members quietly singing over the soundtrack. I say give this theater a chance, they have a very good mix of classics & arthouse, and your experience might be like mine with The Exorcist-- with the audio mixed absolutely perfectly.
A great place to see a movie! Old or new!!
Great place to see interesting movies, classics or little movies that otherwise never make it here. Restored in all its 1930s moviehouse glory.
Went for the Christmas showing of Its a Wonderful Life and it was a good time. The atmosphere is nice in there. Feels very classic
I accidently bought a ticket for super size me two and was unable to attend due to my duties as descibed by my title, but I hear its nice
Best theater in town. Large variety of movies and great, cheap snacks! Very friendly staff. Always a good experience.
This place is amazing. I believe its a historic landmark and its run by volunteers. They show all kinds of movies, from new to old. They even have special event nights so check the calendar to see whats coming up. A local gem. Definitely a great date night stop.
Love this old theater. Visited it many times over the last several decades, so it brings nostalgia for me. The seats are sturdy and from the original time of its opening - not quite comfortable or spacious but the experience remains memorable each time.
Authentic and precious to see the movie once.. Hats off to the management who are the reason to maintain with history..
I live close so Ill walk down anytime they play a movie I like! We have a family tradition of going to see White Christmas every year. Been that way since I can remember.
Historical site playing classic movies and inde offerings. Awesome atmosphere in the theater which really takes you back to a different era. The marquee outside makes you feel like youre out on the town in the 1950s. Perfect for a date night, especially if they are playing a movie you both love. Id give 6/5 stars if I could.
This is an AWESOME theater. It has fantastic atmosphere, a great selection of indie, Classic and foreign movies and the staff is extremely friendly. Its also the only theatre Ive been to with reasonable priced snacks.
This is a gem of a theater. Love the classics n Indy films they play. Perfect little art deco time capsules
Great for movies. Cheap tickets and snacks. I was at a live, full band concert here and it was way too loud. They seem to be moving more toward concerts lately, but they dont have the equipment for it and theres no sound dampening at all
The normal theater is one of the most unique and fun experiences in town. There movies they show are always interesting and snacks are just a dollar. I went to see the labyrinth just after David Bowie died and everyone sang his songs together after the movie. It was magical. Only complaint is that it can kind of get hot in there because of the old HVAC system.
I have loved the Normal Theater experience! I have lived here for 10+ years and it wasnt until this year that I first started going. What a interesting building, great use of the venue wi th movies and plays and more! I cant wait to return for more!
Great restoration of an art.deco.theatre! Shows small run movies and classical movies.
Echo In The Canyon. Loved it.
Lovely, quaint little theater. You really cant go wrong here. It feels so local and fun and homey. Its great.
Great theater - historic from the 1930s that has been completely restored. Very few still exist like this. And you can buy some popcorn and not have to take out a loan! You have to go there at least once for the experience!
Awesome place.
Amazing venue for the independent films that so many of us want to see . Old architecture but updated facilities. A true hidden gem.
Excellent picture and sound
This is a historical establishment that has been very well maintained. Their online presence is fairly well put together so you can check whats showing and buy tickets in advance. They accept cash or card and also have a modest concession stand. Two of my favorite and most memorable visits include seeing Loving Vincent this past December and seeing Casa Blanca on Valentines Day a couple years back with my now-Fiancée. Prices are reasonable too.
I was very happy viewing a movie in the Normal Theater. I will be going there more often.
Great old theater. Cheap concessions. Friendly staff.
Love this place ...like old town experience !!!!
The Normal Theater is a gem. The programming is an eclectic mix of old favorites, cult classics, and new fare that never gets played at the multiplexes.
Literaly the best place their is
Love the theater and special events there.
This is a nice little revival theater. Popcorn is a buck. Tickets are cheap. Seating is alright, Im a tall man, so my knees were hitting the sweaty in front of me.
Great cheap concessions, and old movies plus film festivals. A great local landmark
I really enjoy coming to this theater. They play a lot of movies I grew up with, Ive also caught a couple indie films here.
Good old school place.
Wonderfully restored Art Deco theater evokes the glamour of 1930s movie houses, screening a wide variety of films, from big-screen epics to indie documentaries. One of my great childhood memories was seeing The Wizard of Oz in this theater.
Just wonderful, great movie selections and awesome prices. So many great memories
Beautiful art deco theater with an amazing schedule of films you cant see elsewhere.
Beautiful, classic cinema, publicly owned. Tickets and snacks are a bargain. This theater is a treasure of the Town of Normal.
A deco classic running classic, independent, documentary, and other non-mainstream movies in the heart of uptown Normal
A vintage theater with a great atmosphere and excellent service
Everyone was yelling big and I couldnt hear half of the movie. Was not worth my money.
Nice historic theater! The price is right and concessions are so much cheaper then any other theater!
Wonderful historical venue for watching classic films.
Movie starts at 7pm. It is now 7:15 and still waiting for people to sit down so the movie can start. Wont do this again.
Great atmosphere and service. Would definitely recommend and return.
White Christmas...On wed ....Roasted in the heat but great place
Awesome experience! Great food comfortable seats, awesome seatside delivery service!
Great history and the best place in Blono to see an old film. The staff is also supper friendly
Small theatre showing art and classic films, with inexpensive concessions.
Cool old theatre with drawings & quaint concessions!
A lovely place to be entertained
Seeing a movie here is a great experience.
So cute
Great place!
Classic takes you back to going to the cinema as a kid
Its like our second living room, only cleaner.
Staff were unhelpful and the seats were uncomfortable.
Cool, old theater.
Fun time
Great!
The Normal Theater is a hidden gem in Central Illinois!!
Good movie
Great theatre!

Step back in time...the theater is in pristine condition. Ticket and concession prices are a real deal.
They play lots of classics especially around Christmas time.
