Julie is a walking ray of sunshine with talent shining from every orifice. We had the pleasure of meeting her last year, and we are blessed enough to call her a friend.We are in the middle of restoring a 150 year old house and we hold fundraisers to help with the restoration costs. Julie approached us about turning the walls of the house into an art gallery during one of our fundraising open houses. We were honored to have her art displayed throughout the manor. The hardest part was watching her take them down one by one the following week; each piece is beautiful and lit up the house!She donated a percentage of all sales to the Duncan Manor nonprofit organization dedicated to historic preservation, and we are happy to say many of her pieces found new homes that weekend.We are looking forward to visiting the Julie Meulemans Gallery and know it is a welcome addition to the Bloomington-Normal community!

I have fallen in love with Julies inspiration pieces as well as commissioning several other. My husband and I proudly display three of Julies creations, and have gifted another. Her work speaks to me in movement, color and passion. There is something extraordinary about Julie, her creative genius, and how her art makes you feel. My husband jokes that we cant have any more, but when we see another piece that calls to us - he cant resist either!

When my husband and I first moved into our new home, we felt that our bedroom needed a little more personalization and personality. After seeing Julies work in several places, we decided to reach out to her to commission a large and unique tri-canvas piece.While we really liked the abstract styles represented in many of the paintings of hers we had seen, we were looking for something that complemented the colors and feel we envisioned for our room. Moreover, we were looking for a piece that represented a neo-figurative interpretation while using traditional and bright color highlights. At first Julie was hesitant with our choices but after a few conversations, agreed to proceed. Other than a few high-level examples and color palates, we gave Julie wide artistic freedom.After several weeks, Julie contacted us and scheduled an appointment to show us the completed piece. When she unveiled, we were both extremely pleased with it and were so appreciative of Julie agreeing to provide us her interpretation of the work we wanted. We were also extremely pleased with how she meshed her style with ours to provide us an individualized and welcoming feeling to our room. Moreover, Julie went the extra mile and hung the piece nicely and neatly in our desired space.Outside of the art, Julie is a thoughtful artist that makes an earnest effort to provide a client what they are looking for while also maintaining the artistic integrity she envisions. We would commission another piece and recommend Julies work to others!
