Truly amazing atmosphere and winery. Great for a night out or just a nice dinner date. They have handled this pandemic extremely well and have the best selection of food and wine around! Side note, order the chicken pasta and ahi tuna, they are amazing!

Mermaid winery has a great wine selection and atmosphere. The outdoor seating is very nice, although the view is not(just a parking lot). The wine flights are great! They are well priced and make it very easy to try multiple types of wine. Wine bottles are definitely overpriced though. Overall we had a good experience with great service.

Great place for wine. I had the norfolk express bottle with a salad. Both were delicious. The server was friendly and parking was ample. No liquor at this location but wine was delicious. I rated it 4 stars because the outdoor seating had a ton of bugs. A suggestion would be to use citronella candles or offer bug spray.

Great experience getting back to Mermaid after leaving the area for so long. Got the olives and baked brie to go with our Norfolk Express red blend. Happy to be back and eager to enjoy the wine club membership!

Large selection of wine without wallet breaking prices. The staff was enthusiastic, friendly and very knowledgeable. You have to try the Mermaid Fries!

The place was nice and staff was friendly. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars is because they sat us at a dirty table and we had to tell them. Also, the group I was in were not very familiar with wine and were told our server would help us out, but she didn’t seem to have as wide of a knowledge as expected and wasn’t really able to guide us. Overall, nice experience with good wine

Excellent experience. Jacolbi was hands down the BEST waitress we have ever had. She was super polite, fun, well-mannered, knowledgeable about the wines. We will be back soon!!

Fantastic birthday celebration. Delicious wine flights. My favorites were the Mermaid wines. Delicious and well made. The place is very romantic and cute. I will go back in a heart beat to free wine tastings Friday’s or food during happy hr. The baked Brie was amazing. So good.

Indoor seating is very limited. Have a reasonable outside seating. Had the blackened tuna and enjoyed it. My friends tryed several samples of wine and found something to please their palate.

Definitely recommend! The restaurant isnt very large, but the atmosphere is cozy and perfect for a winery restaurant. Our fantastic server, Ryan, was very knowledgeable of their menu. He gave our group recommendations for food as well as wine. They had an abundance of wine to choose from and even had wine slushies! We all tried a variety from the menu and loved everything we ordered. I had the chicken salad sandwich and it was delicious. It was a slow evening so we even met the cook, Nick. He was polite and friendly as well. Overall the experience was delightful and I will definitely be returning when I visit Norfolk again.

If you want to have fun trying a bunch of wines check this place out. I am NOT a wine expert, so sampling is a fun treat. Not only do they have wines they produce, they have wines from around the world. They had about a dozen different themed flights. It also a restaurant. We had a great cheese plate that went well with the wines. We picked out one of their bottles that we liked. We impressed ourselves that it was one of their award winning wines.

Lovely experience. We held our holiday party in the private tasting room yesterday evening. The owner, Jennifer, responded quickly to our emails and communicated everything clearly. She even helped with a custom menu. When we arrived, the space was beautifully decorated with flowers and festive candles. The staff welcomed us warmly and even assisted one of our elderly members. The staff and bartender were very friendly and helpful through out the entire evening. We will definitely have future events here and highly recommend it to other organizations. Thank you, Mermaid.

Ive never once in my life have been to a winery that felt as personal as the Mermaid Winery did. Our server was more knowledgeable than we ever would have guessed. He explained the menu and wines in the entirety and recommended certain wines to us based of what we liked. We had the classic and french flights and both were outstanding. Not to mention the cheese board. That thing is life. Dont be afraid of the fancy exterior; this place feels homey.

Mermaid to order ...The food was very tasty and the staff was very helpful. Although they do not have a gluten-free menu, they were able to make a gluten-free dish for one of our members on a restricted diet. The restaurant is clean and the ambience relaxed. Stop on by and give it a try!

I love the elegance and simplicity of this place. The menu is small but delicious and the wine is Ahhh-mazing! The server Mallory is very attentive and friendly. Def will continue to visit!

We recently had our wedding reception at the Norfolk Mermaid Winery location and could not be more thrilled with how the event went! Jennifer was amazing to work with and Jonathan made sure the event went off day of without a hitch. Food and wine were both amazing, our guests were very happy! Thank you Mermaid Winery for making our night incredible!!!!

Amazing Amazing Amazing!!! The staff are on point from the time you walk in the door until you leave. My lady and I were greated upon entering as if the place was all setup just for our Date Night. The Chef is phenomenal!!! No detail was missed from ever dish this man pushed out of the kitchen. The kitchen is very very small but the Chef and his team are making magic back there. The legs on the wine glass created by our bottle of Illusion with an alc content of about 12-14% was right on point. All in all we will be visiting the restaurant again and we will be bringing our friends and visitors from out of town to this place.Thank you to the entire Mermaid Winery Team for making our Date Night so special!!!

Beautiful urban winery that serves wines from all over the world! Excellent ambiance inside and beautiful patio outside with string lights. Awesome presentation of wine and charcuterie boards! Definitely will go back for date night or girls night out!!

Nice place, had lots of different wines available.

Thoroughly disappointing wine tasting experience. We ordered 3 wine flights, a total of 15 wines in total. Not a single wine was even remotely fresh. Every wine was boring and flat like the wine had been open for a week before they served it to us. Some even tasted like they were already turning to vinegar. We know and like some of the wines on the flight menu, and this place does not do them justice. Definitely will not return and will warn all my friends.

Please do not join their sweet wine club . They are charging $45 a month for wines being sold at total wine for cheaper price . Do your research before joining sweet club so no money will be wasted.

Dominic the bartender always knows what to pour you even if you have no idea what youre after and Christian makes a seemingly normal dish absolutely amazing! We come here for every girls night! Wish they played some more fun music, though

The menu is limited. The service was not great. My fries were served cold. I would not return here. However, the rose decor (empty wine bottles) was beautiful.

My girlfriend and I were super excited to check this place out. Unfortunately it turned out to be a major let down. The service was terrible, the server was on the phone half of the time and paid no attention to us until it was time to pay. The mermaid classic wine flight was awful. Half of the wine taste like medicine and the last one on the rack taste like drinking strawberry jam.Cool setup I guess though.

The Mahi and Tuna tacos were tasty; the sauces used were good. Our waiter made a decent wine recommendation, but couldnt tell us anything past what we could read on the menu. Their house made wines are decent.

Wonderful atmosphere and staff! Great wines! Stopped in for the free tasting and stayed for happy hour. The appetizers during this time was limited but greatly paired with a nice wine suggested by Sam. Parking is sparse and valet is forced (no other option) on weekends (including Friday during happy hour). Ill be back...

I always have the best service and experience at mermaid, but last night the waiter I had was extremely rude. He completely ignored me pretty much the entire time I was there. I had to ask other waitresses for help and even stood up at one point to find him. I have NEVER had to do this before at a restaurant. Hopefully this does not happen again.

Great place, really cool atmosphere, indoor and outdoor seating. They have one of the best Moscatos around. The food is good but the wine is better.

Lots to choose from in a pleasant atmosphere. Service could be a bit quicker though. Overall nice experience and still recommended!

My favorite wine from here is My Peach Beach! Its perfect for summertime!

The flight comes in a spiralling tower! Hummus was great as was the salmon and steak!

I have never been more appalled at a dining experience. Stopped for lunch today at 1pm. The restaurant was quite empty at the time. We ordered the lunch grilled cheese- one with a side salad the other with fries- and 2 glasses of wine. The wine arrived promptly and our waiter was on top of filling water. Unfortunately it took an hour to be served a burnt grilled cheese. We were offered to have it remade but at that point we were irritated and frankly didn’t have time to wait another hour for a sandwich. Our wine was comped and we left. As we walked out all the apology we got from the bar was a cheerful “have a great day”. What a shame.

Wonderful wine selection of their own label and many others. Many flight types to pick from which is served all at once on a glass tree. Very nice food options, I encourage you to ask for wine pairing recommendations.

We were invited to a wedding there tonight, and the place was perfect place. Employees were very attentive, place was kept clean. Atmosphere was wonderful. Music was really perfect. So if you need a spaceous wonderful place for your venue.

RUDE. My first visit with this winery will unfortunately be my last. Firstly, the waiter spilled a whole tray of water on one of my friends, thinking it was an accident, we were not mad. That is until he said “oh it’s just water it won’t hurt you” and never apologizing. Now soaking wet and upset. Secondly, my father isn’t much of a wine person so he asked what beer they had and the guy replied with two beers and “ I don’t know, this is a winery so,” laughing at my father. Now extremely upset, he proceeds to have rude comments the entire time? The wine we had was great and I’d love to come back but unfortunately this worker had sealed the deal for all 8 of us. Would give 0 stars for service if I could.

We went for the wine tasting and the staff was wonderful and full of conversation about the wines. The cost of the wine on the menu was misleading, and we ended up paying more than expected. The reisling was one of our favorites.

Wine tasting was like cattle herd teaching. Did not describe any of the wine she was serving and terrible service once we got into the restaurant. A definite no for exclusive wine tasting.

Booked a group gathering here and the manager on duty was very annoying. I ordered a wine flight then we received an unsolicited speech about how everyone cant order a wine flight because hed run out of glasses. Dude, thats an item that should be considered as a winery. Anyone who has done wine tasting knows that you can simply rinse your glass. Mind you there was only 3 other patrons inside so not sure of the dilemma.Food options were tailored for our visit to allow for speedier service. We still waited a while but the options were delicious. Many people in my party had overcharges on their bills but it was quickly corrected.I think that I would give them another opportunity and hope for a better experience.

We just had our Epiphany luncheon there with about 20 women. The food was delicious and plentiful, place was clean and inviting and the service was outstanding! Definitely would go back.

Mermaid Winery has good wine and food. While I may not be very wine educated, I enjoyed the glasses I had while I was there. The food was good however I do take issue with paying $16 for a burger and it not having a side. The burger was good, but no knock your socks good for $16. And how are you going to have a burger on the menu but no side? Not even a bag of ships. I would come back but would make sure to eat beforehand.

The Norfolk Express is my favorite.

Extremely Rude Management Staff

Neato place to have a bite to eat and taste wine. They have a very wide range of wine red, white, rose. I however wasnt a fan of the lunch menu...if you are a big salad eater then this is a good place. I did enjoy my experience overall.

We had such a lovely experience at this location and exceptional service from Todd and Emily. The food was great and the wine list left little to desire. We also had our little pup with us and even though it got busier they didn’t fail to keep tabs on us and make sure our all of our needs were taken care of. We’ll definitely be back.

Great place for a date night, girls night, or even just a glass outside. I’ve hosted my monthly book club gathering here and we all love it. The spinach and artichoke dip is my fav!

Food and drinks were good but the only reason why Im giving it 3 stars is bc there were/are flies and fruit flies flying all over inside and around us while eating and drinking.

I was disappointed with this place. Initially, thought - cool - Norfolk has its on winery! Its essential a tasting room and wine bistro. The Name itself confused me and I was expecting something extraordinary.Yes, they do have house wines with vineyards in the Virginia region. The staff was really nice and friendly and they recommended me to a great reserve wine.The event they had a few weeks ago was appealing - $3 for glass of wine. Again, I assumed they would do house wine since its name Mermaid Winery - no, its other wines in which they want to sell off.My experience when going out is that I want something local. I feel like this place needs a new branding and quiet honestly better food that showcased regional Virginia food, and wine.Recap- Great location and nice seating arrangement tucked away with parking- Nice, friendly staff- Reserve Hose Wines are the way to go- Change branding/marketing. If I wanted other wines I could walk across the street to Total Wine & MoreMermaid Winery,I hope your business does great in the future. One of my favorite places in Norfolk. The wine selection is great. The happy hours and wine club member specials are awesome. The food is delicious and I absolutely love the brunch. In addition the staff is always very knowledgeable about the wine and food and they are attentive and personable.

Ive gone to the Norfolk location multiple times and had great service every time. They have a lovely outdoor area and the food and wine is delicious. I was most surprised by how amazing the grilled cheese was, I would definitely reccomend that for lunch!

This is heaven if you love wines! you can enjoy the variety of wines and they also have especial one which are more older than the others.

Friendly and quick. We had an hour to kill before heading to the airport to catch our flight home. Dropped in for a glass. Server was very knowledgeable.

Great wines in an amazing festive setting. What a refreshing way to unwind. I must say you should have them supply wine for your next event. A tasting of their broad selections will wow your guests and make them feel so special. I recommend them whole heartedly for dinner or just a relaxing night with that special person. Do t forget to get some to go.

I love the mermaid winery, I am a Virginia Beach resident so I was especially excited when I saw you guys came to Virginia Beach. Ashton always serves me at the bar, he is such an entertaining and inciteful guy, and I was disappointed to see that he was no longer there. He really built the brand for me personally, and I will miss him a lot. He put the merman in our mermaid. Love you guys !

We have been going to Mermaid since it opened two years ago. There is a reason we continue to go...it is a great place to relax and unwind. The service is good. The wine is always wonderful as well as the food. We have taken many out of town friends and they have loved it as well. I can assure you we would spend our money elsewhere if the experience was even average at the Mermaid but they have always exceeded our expectations. Give it a shot for yourself...

Very nice indoor and outdoor area. The outdoor area is by the train tracks so you might be accompanied by the rumble and roar of a train here and there- its not very frequent, but definitely there. The private party area is really quaint and perfect for small events. Very enjoyable place!

Was in the area and had a couple hours to kill while waiting for dinner plans with some friends. We stopped by here and will be coming back very soon. They had a great selection of wine AND beer. We didnt have time for dinner but plan to come back very soon. The place was about 1/2 but had a great environment. Customer service was top notch and our bartender was very knowledgeable on the different wines. She helped us pick out the perfect ones. I highly recommend this winery to anyone in the area.

They have fun events combined with good prices on house wines by the glass. The atmosphere is classy. The staff are friendly, the salmon appetizer was excellent.

Went here for dinner. The service left a lot to be desired however the wine was delicious! Just know if youre wanting to get a bottle of wine after, go when they are half off so you can pay what it costs to buy in any other store on a normal day. They charge $20 can get the same thing for $10 at a store. Also go and sit at the bar instead. The bartender was awesome and on top of things but with the table server not so much

Really enjoyed the ‘Fortified Wine Flight’ and Pineapple Moscato. The service was excellent and our waitress was knowledgeable. Will be returning and even considering joining the wine club.

My daughter and I had a wonderful lunch here. The focaccia bread was delicious. I got a Brie, Gouda, and bacon grilled cheese that was one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. Our waitress was really helpful and friendly. The lunch special of a sandwich and glass of wine for $7.99 cant be beat. The wine flight was a great way to try the Mermaid Winery wines. My daughter and I especially loved the outdoor garden with fruit-filled grapevines along the perimeter.
