A storied battleship with a rich history beginning in WW2 and ending with the Persian Gulf War. COVID has caused them to close the lower decks but you are still able to see the top 3 decks of the ship. I highly recommend doing the combo pack when purchasing tickets and taking the harbor tour as well. The tour takes you over to the naval station and It’s definitely the best bang for the buck.

We haven’t actually made it to the Nauticus but we hope too once COVID19 has moved on. We’ve done their online programs and enjoy them! The staff seems to truly enjoy working with students and enjoy each others company. We appreciate that they provide these opportunities while we all try to be socially distant.

Very interesting experience. It was my first time going here recently and I really enjoyed it. I think being able to go on and inside the boat is great.

We went here and had lunch on their huge, shaded patio, and the food was fresh. Our server was very personable as well. The name of this new restaurant is The Big Whiskey Porch...nice concept.

Wisconsin is an actual US battleship that was used in World War II. An amazing piece of history! It’s incredible how huge it is! They offer different discounts on tickets. You can get just an admission ticket and walk around. But I would recommend to get guided tours. That way you will get access to closed parts of the ship, they’ll give you a lot of very interesting information and at the end of the tour you are allowed to stay on the ship and explore the rest of it on your own. They offer two tours. One takes you to the top part of the ship and you get to see Captain’s, Admiral’s, office’s and crew’s quarters. The 2nd tour takes you to the bottom of the ship where they show you the engine and how the ship works from the inside. Both tours are just amazing!

We had a great visit here and it should be the centerpiece of your visit to Norfolk.The main attraction is the Battleship itself which you are allowed to explore freely. Plan on spending an hour to two to tour it as there is so much to see, learn and explore.The museum beside it is also very interesting and it covers a lot of the history of the area.

Parts of the museum (like the boat) are not wheelchair/stroller accessible.We went for free and were really shocked at the normal price! I wouldnt pay that much but then again, we only went because it was free in the first place. You know how something is instantly cooler when its free? Like when Wal-Mart is doing those giveaways of free samples of food you will NEVER BUY and you pretend you are super interested just because youre hungry from shopping and staring at food? Yeah, this museum had that aspect to it for me.

Didnt take the tour of the ship but did admire its majesty beauty and size. Its docked in the beautiful Waterside area of Downtown Norfolk Virginia. This whole area has so much to see and do. A perfect place to enjoy the scenery and relax.

Lots to do & see. There is something for everyone. Be sure to check out the battleship Wisconsin. We owe it to those who served to better understand the sacrifices they made so we can enjoy the freedom this country offers.

I love Nauticus, I live 1 min away walking and it’s like the centerpiece of downtown Norfolk. The ship is HUGE and the outside is beautiful. Being so close to the ship and building that’s also near the park is a great experience with children.

Amazing Battleship!!! Very interesting being able to explore much of the ship and imagine what it may have been like to serve on this ship. Especially interesting to see how crewmembers lived while on board and compare to what sailors currently experience. Could have spent another day exploring.

Exploring the battleship USS Wisconsin was really neat. Kids loved climbing all over. I did not care much for the Nauticus museum itself. It was confusing as to the purpose of the museum. It started with exhibits on shipping, then turn of the century Navy, then an exhibition in Norfolk, then environmental exhibits. After that you can get on the battleship. It was an odd mish mash of history that didnt seem to have a common theme.

Its okay. The restrooms were nasty and either had no soap or no paper towels. Staff was nice. The best part for us (and the only really good part) was the Battleship Wisconsin. Again, the staff was very friendly and helpful.

A great museum for both children and adults, many hands on exhibits for kids. I mainly went to see the Battleship Wisconsin so I didn’t spend very long in the museum part. I only got the basic ticket but wish I would’ve paid the extra money for a guided tour of the USS Wisconsin. I didn’t realize how big the ship was and how much of it they allow you to access. I spent about 2 hours at Nauticus and wish I would’ve been able to stay longer but I had a flight to catch. The top attraction in Norfolk by far.

To me some of the exhibits in the museum werent all that interesting, but the main attraction was the USS Wisconsin. Its a shame the basic ticket doesnt allow one to visit some interesting parts of the ship, such as the bridge, but there was a lot to see and explore nonetheless. The ship is huge and its fascinating to get a glimpse of what it must have been like to live and work aboard her. All in all I was not disappointed.

Great place if you love history and sea life! My daughter loved it especially being able to walk the USS Wisconsin.

A wealth of knowledge about all things maritime. Great place to explore. Excellent customer service. Their programs with the city schools should be commended, a lot of happy well rounded kids graduate with a wealth of nautical knowledge. Also, Ask about things coming in the future, they have new things coming, soon, that are very exciting.

This was great. You can do a self guided tour and take your time in areas you like. They have guides that wander around and provide great facts and answer questions. There are tours you can do also. Plan on at least 3 hours to wander the different levels that are open. Fair warning the stairs are steep and narrow so if you have knee problems consider that if you want to tour the lower levels. The upper decks werent to bad but more room to adjust your steps. The cost wasnt bad for what you get to see.

Hands down amazing. Definitely must do the tour guided or unguided I dont care just get on that boat. And blew my mind on how men back then had to go through battle or even line up a shot without GPS guided missiles that job must have definitely been near impossible. talk about one of the deadliest ships in the world get on it and take a look at the 17-in cannons.

Fantastic exhibit! We took the basic ticket and were able to spend 4 hrs touring the USS Wisconsin and the museum and STILL didnt finish it all. Great value and great friendly staff. Rochelle was exceptional with teaching us to build our rovers. If youre looking for a good museum to go to in the area to learn about both local and naval history, please give this place a visit. Well worth the money and we definitely will be back!

So much fun!! Our children are 7 and 2 and they had the best time! So much for them to touch and do. I was very impressed that as a parent i enjoyed it and also my kids loved it. Best of both worlds. We had such an enjoyable time we got a memebership. It was also amazing how much of the USS Wisconsin we had access to. Could easily spend hours between the museum and ship.

This is a great museum for virtually all ages. Young kids will enjoy interactive exhibits including a shark and horseshoe crab touchpool. Adults will enjoy the historical displays and other nature exhibits. The USS Wisconsin is amazing to walk around. Expect to spend about three hours to see the entire museum. Also has a cafe with reasonably priced breakfast and lunch options.

We came in January so no crowds. The employees were nice. The exhibits were interesting. We got the basic ticket and got a military discount. It was 60 degrees when we made it over to the Wisconsin. We even got the photo to help support the museum.

Came with family, 6 adults and 4 kids 7, 5, 3, and 11 months. The exhibits about Norfolk maritime history, the river and marine life. The kids got to pet a shark and the Horseshoe crab, and even a few areas with black aquarium displays. The staff was all friendly, there were plenty of interactive spots for the kids and the movies were fun. The battleship was interesting but reminded me of other battleships Ive seen. Definitely would bring them back!

An amazing experience on the ship and in the museum. Plan a half day or full day for this adventure. The whole experience was set up perfectly for your whole family, from start to finish.

A fabulous find at a great price. The local tourism office in portsmith gave us a coupon for 2.00 off each admission. The ferry ride across the bay added to our day. We spent the whole day there Immersed in history. A wonderful place for kids. What an enjoyable and informative fun day spent at the Nauticus museum and battleship Wisconsin.

This was a very cool museum to learn about Naval history, whether youre interested in battles, lifestyles, or technology. Touring the Wisconsin was absolutely fantastic. I didnt pay for the full tour, but there were plenty of enthusiastic staff members aboard to answer any questions.

The Nauticus is a great history activity-based museum for children! We went there on the homeschool day and loved it. The only negative we experienced was the initial shock of the layout. It is extremely confusing (even with a map) on how to get to any exhibit or theater. However, after a huge learning curve we were able to navigate our way around and the entire museum is amazing. We saw two 3-D movies that were great as well as a science demonstration that was phenomenal. We also toured the adjacent ship and that was just as intriguing and engaging as the museum for my 5 year old son. We will definitely be back!

A wonderful museum. Visually stimulating and good variety of mediums (hands-on, video, posters, models, etc...) Not just for children. I spent a few hours here and enjoyed it immensely.

Friendly staff, and a very informative venue. Many interactive exhibits for young and old alike. The 3D Aircraft Carrier movie was great as well. Highly recommend!

The price is very much worth it, at the beginning it was a little slow because my kids are 7 and 8 so a lot of info and pictures were a little dull, but as we were all able to interact with everything in the museum then things got amazing, the USS Wisconsin was incredible, the reason why I give 3 starts its the cleanliness, is not about being trashed but everything that is interactive its pretty dirty, handles, buttons, levers... that really grossed us out, I mean my kids bathe in mud whenever it rains we dont gross out easily so it was big when in several occasions they pointed it out... since is definitely not a free museum the expectation was higher in thai department, other than that we will be back whenever we are in the city

Very informative. Our three grandchildren ages 4, 8 & 10 all enjoyed their visit, as did my wife and I. Nearly four hours passed before we knew it. Be sure and board the USS Wisconsin as well as visit the sea salvage and pirate displays next door.

My family had a trip here during our family reunion with 100+ people. We loved it. I loved the ships, the fish and crabs. The children liked the story telling just wanted that new Baby Shark song. They could add more child songs to engage the children. The kids liked the area where the fish was on the floor. It would have been nice to have story telling there.

I loved the experience, my only concern is how the people on the bridge walkway to the ship treated me because I didn’t let them take a professional photo of me and instead tried to have my friend take a photo with his phone. The rude women used hand gestures to shoo me away and told me to “keep it stepping l!” They ruined this place for me so thanks!

Great visit through history! The third floor was great for kids! They really enjoyed everything! The self guided tour of the USS Wisconsin was very neat, there were people everywhere ready to answer questions, throughly enjoyed it, I had a small child in a stroller, so I had to ditch the stroller to see everything inside so if I had to do it again, Id have worn the baby papoose!

This is for the Whisky restaurant inside on the first floor. I didnt see any info about it on the Nauticus website or when we called, we went in and their food is amazing. Their customer service is amazing, the food is ready good, good pricing and the cowder is to die for. I normally do not review places but I had to for them so they are known.

A must see if you ever visit Norfolk the Battleship Wisconsin is worth it. The history and the people there espically the admissions staff is so friendly. Great place for families to come explore the Battleship and the science museum. Adventure awaits.

Highly recommend the naval museum and battle ship Wisconsin. They are constantly opening up other areas of the ship for viewing.. New Vietnam exhibit opened October 2019.

Nauticus is the first Maritime museum Ive been to that demands a multi-day trip. It is absolutely huge, even without the USS Wisconsin. It is super interactive and a great example of how to split a museum into interesting and meaningful parts for any audience. I did have some gripes with the layout and directions, as well as some of the exhibits not working. Exhibits not working and films not playing are to be understood, and usually wouldnt cause me docking a star.However, the cost of entry being as high as it is, it is interesting everything is not working. Perhaps if admission to the wisky and museum were split Id be more inclined to add a star. I was also disappointed that the people at the front desk wanted to defend the cost of admission rather than talking about what the museum has to offer. But I wont begruge an entire museum over one person at the from desks attitude.Whoever runs the exhibits department clearly has experience, passion, and creativity. I cant wait to visit again, just might have to find a way to be a local first.

The Nauticus museum is a great value to experience naval history and walk aboard a might battleship.- Multiple levels- Garage parking nearby- Free historical movie- Great for all agesMy uncle was in town reminiscing about his time aboard an aircraft carrier in the 70’s and we were looking for something to do. For around $6 in parking at a garage and the entrance fee, we made a day of the visit. The battleship was pretty hot in the summer and the fans weren’t doing much, but we still enjoyed ourselves. If you get bored of waking around, stop and talk to one of the knowledgeable volunteers. They can talk your ear off it you’d like!

This museum has a has-been vibe. The fact they force you to pay for the ship and 3rd floor museum together is practically robbery, and families will likely find the experience exhausting. It is hard to navigate, alot of it doesnt make sense and half of it just doesnt work at all. Come for the ship, get out of the third floor as fast as possible and whatever you do, dont eat at the restaurant.

Amazing for a science nerd like me .if you dont have a good sense of direction, beware! Its mazelike structure will have you lost.

Wonderful museum! We went for the Christmas town event they were having. This was an awesome event. Loved the way they had things set up to reflect the time period of Charles Dickenss A Christmas Carol. It is very kid friendly. They did a wonderful job incorporating new technology. My kiddo loved the Geoffrey the talking Christmas tree and the story time with the talking books and other animatronics. We are planning on going back soon for a regular day visit.

Nauticus is a maritime and naval museum in Norfolk, VA. Its exhibits tell the maritime history of the ‘Hampton Roads’ area and the history of the U.S. Navy. The exhibits are well done and very informative. The museum also includes several exhibits on the Hampton Roads biosphere, the sea, and the weather. The Hampton Roads Naval Museum is part of Nauticus. I enjoyed learning about the development of iron ships starting with the USS Monitor and the CSS Merrimack during the civil war and their battle nearby.Included with your admission is access to the battleship USS Wisconsin, America’s last battleship. It was interesting to see how sailors lived on this ship, what tasks they had to and what tools and technology were available to them at that time.The Nauticus is an interesting activity for tourists and I would highly recommend it if you’re in the Norfolk area.

Fantastic museum for all ages. There were things for everyone, from hands-on kids activities, to 3D movies, to a wide range of historical displays, and of course the USS Wisconsin. It is great to see such an important part of our history being preserved and experienced by the current generation and generations to come.

We had an excellent time here with a former member of the ship. Apparently that wasnt the normal so we were very blessed. Ive been here before many times and now you can go inside the ship and get a better feeling as to what the former personal on the ship felt. They have great views, a gift shop, sharks, and many other exhibits that are not only kid friendly but AWESOME!

Quite a nice place where you can see Naval history.Plus basic demonstration of Shipping, Oceanography,small aquarium and a gift shop.Worth a visit.Just off the ferry jetty.Also access to USS Wisconsin BB 44 is through here.You can enter after 10am.Have 3 options to visit the battleship including Nauticus musium.Guided engine or deck tour & a self guided tour in the vessel.Clean,tidy,can see a lot of usefull things.Overall I enjoyed my tour.A tour for all ages.Higly recommend.

This museum is super cool to visit even if you’re not too into the navy/boats. The exhibits inside do mainly focus on the history of the location and Norfolk, while also going into depth about the main exhibit: the USS-Wisconsin. There are plenty of tour options and things to see here. It’s a nice place to spend a few hours.

Mamy years of visiting Nauticus, this winter was our favorite seeing the Wisconson all dressed up for the holidays.

Ignore what google map or other said the hours and days they are open. They are open 7 days after Memorial Day. Must see place in VA

Wonderfull tour of the Battleship, they have some vintage 1950s sewing machines that I repaored there, still in use 70 years latter!

A beautiful museum that will be enjoyed by any fan of maritime wonders! Interestingly enough, EVMS has rented their space multiple times for school dances and parties because they have a great space on the second floor. Additionally, they have a touch pool of horseshoe crabs! Pretty cool! After the museum, you can then quickly walk across the street and enjoy the many restaurants of downtown Norfolk!

TOP NOTCH Naval Museum in EVERY way. Even if you dont get off on this stuff, you will enjoy this museum. Plan to spend at least 2-3 hours, longer if you are a Naval geek like my husband & son-in-law. Getting to do the tour of the battleship is educational and it is the best kept of any of the other similar ships. A must do in down-town Norfolk.

So glad we decided to go visit this museum. What a memorable outing this will be for many years to come. An incredible ship, rich with historical information + a feeling of awe and respect as one walks where heroes once walked. We loved it! Thank you service men and women past, present and future. Educational and interactive. While the normal price is a bit steep, we went as a 757 special offer. Broad range of information for both young and old.

Great place to learn history.

It was big but the only thing to do was go on the ship. During the city wide Fair they let the kids to a scavenger hunt but the prize was just a dumb tattoo and the hunt was very hard and Im a 36 year old college graduate! The cafe was SO EXPENSIVE! $2.25 FOR BLACK COFFEE! WOW

Fun interactive museum for the kids and adults. Being able to tour the battleship was cool but it would have been nice to actually go inside the ship. You only have access to the outside and even that is limited to only certain certain areas.

Amazing! We did the self-guided tour, it was well worth every penny. The ship and attached museum were outstanding and the staff was very knowledgeable. Recommend allotting a few hours for a good visit!

Thought it would be fun to explore a battle ship. This museum while intriguing was restricted for safety reasons. That sort of restriction cheapened the overall experience.

One of the true treasures of Hampton Roads. The staff is super friendly and go above and beyond to welcome you, have a chat & share their knowledge with you. Have spent hours seeing just the Wisconsin alone. Will definitely be back.

We were on a trip to Virginia and family members wanted to go to Norfolk, something I was only so, so about. But it turned out to be a terrific addition to our trip. Nauticus has a great lot to learn about the Navy and what a better place to learn than sitting in the Naval Yard. Touring the Battleship was fabulous.
