Quick hike to a large rock painted like a pumpkin. Given that it’s October, a friend and I figured it would be very seasonal to check this spot out. When you put in directions, you’ll be driving through neighborhoods and you should look for a park entrance in order to find the trailhead. There’s plenty of street parking available. Be mindful of making your own trail - I tried and slid down the hill (so ended up with some nice scrapes and bruises for that venture!). Just go up the trail - it’s well laid out and it’s a very quick walk uphill to the rock. You could continue to other trails at the top as well.No shade at all so bring lots of water. The rock itself is cool (although unfortunately there’s some graffiti on the back and bottom) and lends some shade. The walk back down might be a little tricky if you’re wearing sneakers, so take it slow. Dogs are allowed. No bathrooms are available.
Been here four or five times, never been crowded until today! Maybe because of covet, or maybe because its so close to Halloween. A lot of people on the trail and a line of people waiting to take picture with big pumpkin rock. 1.75 mile loop, steep but doable climb on the way up, flatter on the way out. No shade So dont attempt it in the summertime
Fun trail for the kids, but no shade so I recommend doing this hike early in the morning. Also, it can get pretty crowded around pumpkin rock itself, especially closer to Halloween so same recommendation. Come early or be prepared to wait in a really long line to take pictures. Theres other painted rocks to look at too which are pretty neat and my kid has fun climbing the boulders around pumpkin rock. So definitely recommend this as a kid friendly hike. Views are pretty spectacular too.
It was awesome. Highly recommended!!!. There are other trails you can try along that route. Great experience. Expect to line up if you trying to take pictures. Well worth it and the drive to go over there.
Super cute and super quick hike. Plenty of space for social distancing and had a great view of the neighborhood horses from the top. Its pretty much all up hill so make sure you wear the appropriate shoes for steep incline/decline
Is a good hike different trails to take, we get early morning around 6:00 am nice view from the top you can see all the city, there was only us doing the hike, we don’t know where park so we park on the street in front of houses we don’t see any signs for not parking or if you need a parking permit. Please visitors keep clean.
Damn it is incredibly hot and dusty during the summer day. I recommend going either early or 6-7pm. The trail is really not that long as people said, only takes 15 to climb to the top. Wear hiking shoes, it is definitely steep enough to fall if not careful n go slow. But the view n the artwork is definitely worth the 30 mins climbing 2 ways. Good exercise, not sure u should take dogs here ion think is suitable for smaller dog breeds.
Nice trail to climb,Dont suggest without good shoes.Good for kids 4+No shades, do avoid on hot dayBest time to go early morning or evening (carry torch)
Easy hike with many trail loops. Beautiful landscape of the entire Norco mountains and city.
Great Hike for the whole family. I try and go once a week in October
We parked at the end of the road next to the golf course. The review I read said “it’s a quick 5 minute hike”. It’s a nice hike, but it took me 25 minutes each way, with a 10 minute stop at the rock. Allow yourself an hour to visit the great pumpkin! So glad I did it, but will never do it again. It was 95°F. that afternoon, so it was a good workout.
Wonderful place to go for a mini family fun trip!
Great place to hike early in the morning great view
We didn’t have time to do the hike, but made sure to seek out Pumpkin Rock on the way home to LA from our Riverside Visit. It’s very cool! Better views are at the end of the street, not just where the gps takes you. Additionally, do some research as to the best place to start the hike. That’s easy to find online. Such a cool thing!
Have an uphill slope You can also.
First time i went didnt make it to the top it was just after rain and too muddy...this time made it to top and was a good workout...it was a nice day out and i had a good hiking partner so i couldnt ask for more.
Nice place to hike to or bike to. Best place is to park at ingalls park. And follow someone or use the maps to follow a trail. Also heard the pumpkin is painted by locals in norco
Super easy hike but if you don’t know how to hike gravel steep trails without switchbacks you might struggle. (It would be great if the trail was a switchback, would ease the erosion). My seven year old and I did it just fine with the two year old strapped into the ergo carrier - did this one under an hour. The views from the rock are fantastic! You can see so many peaks.
Nice little easy hike to an amazing view of riverside...chino hills...ontario and IE. Huge rock pumpkin. Lots of tagging everywhere, but if youve never been, its worth the hike.
Make sure you bring snacks and water. Its a cool hiking trail just be careful of the animals.
Lots of trails, nice rocks to climb, accessible from Riverside or Norco. You can see over Eastvale, Riverside, and all the hills and mountains beyond.
Different thing, kinda short
If you can ignore the graffiti the views are awesome. You can see some of socals tallest peaks (Gorgornio, Jacinto, Cucamonga, and Santiago). Also, there is some great up-and-down hiking.
Great little hike with a surprising huge pumpkin. Children and adults will love it. The trail is a bit dangerous so have good shoes and be careful. Don’t forget to take your water with you!
Great spot for pictures, and falling the hike is maybe 15 min if youre going really slow. I like hiking but I wouldnt come here for a big workout. Unless theres more, maybe next time Ill go explore further.
One of my favorite hidden gems. It’s a nice break from other hikes that are more crowded. The neighborhood is beautiful as well. Sadly people have graffitied a lot of the rocks since I first started hiking here but still a nice hike. Not a very long one but worth it.
Very nice and peaceful hike. A good incline!!
It’s easy trail for everybody.
It was a moderate climb, great family hike this morning.
Very good hike on the Norco side
Super easy hike !! Definitely recommend it to any one
Its a very hard walk going up and down -10 year old (my son)
Short but steep hike with sweeping views on a clear day. I would do it again.
Look for the big parking lot where the Iron horses are with the real Trail do not try to climb up the side of the mountain that was a mistake.
First of all the GPS took me the long way to get here and I believe it leaves you in an open area where you can park your car but if you keep driving towards the left you can leave your car on the side of a street (youll be able to see a big lot where they deal with horses). You will see two trails towards the rock. We went towards the right side- big mistake. You ever realize how unfit you are when at the beginning of the hike youre already out of breath? That was us because we took the hard/steap way up. I took vans because I thought it would be sandy trails but it was mostly rock so I was slipping every other step. It took about 15-20 minutes (depending on how many breaks you take to catch your breath) to get up there. So timing was great if youre willing to go straight up. On the way down we took the back way and although there were still some steap parts, most of it was sandy and it wasnt too long to get down either. So if you want an easier way take the left trail (facing the horse lot). The pumpkin is really cool because its way bigger in person. You can see the view of Norco up there and lots of really nice houses. When we went it was really quiet and peaceful so it was nice to get away from everything and admire a cool rock.
This is a good spot for taking photos and the view is great. I was a little desapointted about the hike, because is a short distance walk in the hill, so in only takes you one hour at the most back and forth...and it is really crowded on weekends
Nice hiking area!
Hike was short n sweet. No shade. Lots of broken glass around, so be careful if visiting with kids or pets
Beautiful view. Various different trails; however, it was difficult to find parking.
A nice and short family oriented hike to the big orange pumpkin in Norco. This is doable with the fambam, as its a relatively short hike. From the pumpkin, you can access many other trails that will lead you to other peaks throughout the Norco and La Sierra hills area. Lots of nice views of Norco, Corona, and Riverside. Please be respectful and avoid leaving any kind of trash on these trails. Lots of horseback riding on these trails as well, so no motocross or off-road activity, as this startles the horses.
What is the surprising that Halloween is right on the top of Mountain. The best season is coming....
Love this place. Good for small hikes with family. Kids love it
Looks like the pumpkin got a new paint job !The incline to reach the top is short but very steep. Be careful treading your way back down and wear some shoes with grip !
Great easy hike with a wonderful view.
About a mile each way. If you are an out of shape guy in his mid 40s like me it takes more than 15 minutes. Still I wouldnt call it strenuous. Just an uphill walk. Its not paved though so wear shoes with a little traction and bring water. We parked over by the animal shelter but not in their lot since there is a gate that is locked when they close. You can see the GIANT Pumpkin from the start.
It was really a fun hike..
Very nice place to see the sunset.
Very good
Great hike, moderate for family and pets a couple steep sections, broken glass, but fun and worth the hike, 3 different trail entrances
Fun, relatively short/easy hike to see the pumpkin rock. Was very busy the week of Halloween but probably less busy other times of the year. Easy to get to and there was a lot of parking.
Great place to take in an afternoon hike. This location is good for all ages as its not too steep and the view is amazing!!
It was good
Great valley views, 3 stars because some graffiti needs to be removed or covered up.
Eh..it needs a new paint job. Cool view. But eh still.
Easy hike nice view
Great little hike. Nice hidden little- big treasure. Great to hike with kids or solo. Always busy with people but not too much.
Nice quick hike.
Besides the graffiti and scattered broken shards of beer bottles, Id say its a nice hike for those of us who want to take a leisurely walk. If you choose to jog or run please pay attention to the trails as some are uneven, steep and riddled with small holes or intentions.Looking forward to trying out the other longer trails that lead up to the pumpkin head
Awesome hike with beautiful veiws
I would recommend shoes that have good grip but overall an amazing view as well as hike/walk
Its out in the middle of no were but cool to take a halloween picc
Rad little hike to see Pumpkin Rock. There are a couple different trails you can take. We like the trail from Pikes Peak park.
Nice little hike, there are some steep inclines. Pumpion rocks awesome, however other boulders have graffiti on them. Overall I would recommend it.
Very nice little hike. Not hard at all and there was plenty of parents with small children walking the trails.
Fun trail to walk around, not sure if there was a trailhead so we hiked up a pretty steep hill. Its too bad theres lots of graffiti, feels like your in the city.
Pretty easy hike. I like there.
2 trails, we take the long trail and it is always fun. Highly recommend a sunset hike.
Cool Trail to the pumpkin need to try this at least once
Short hike to the rock. Gets a little steep along the way in some areas but its nature. Cant take its rating because of natural things you cant control. Was perfect for my little sis to climb.
It was a great hike, and a great view
Good mild quick hike
This is a cute, short, family hike.
Definitely worth the night hike. Get out and enjoy something beautiful for a change
Fun hike, easy for most people...the town of Norco is a neat place as well.
A little steep but not to long. Pumpkin rock great for pictures!
Were watching the sunset while walking up the hill, that was the nice view that ive ever experience. We love nature
It was worth the hike up there, eventhough i stopped a couple times otw up, i survived the hike
The hike is worth getting up to the rock. Just be careful of all the broken glass from all the bottle that have been tossed up there over the years.
Easy fun hike. you may brong your dog and great hike for the little ones too.
Thats a great rock.
Very cool place. Amazing views.
I lived down the hill when I was a teenager. I hiked up and down the hill to pumpkin rock all the time. It is a fantastic view and has trails to explore besides the rock. Not good for small children as it can be steep for them.
I love this area for hikes. There are several areas to come in from. My 4yo-15yo enjoy the climbs and the views.
Loved the hike has different paths depending on distance and incline you want to do. Great footing for kids and dogs. Beautiful views.
The only great thing about this trail is the Giant Pumpkin Rock. There are a few ways to get to the Pumpkin Rock but from what I could tell if you park by the residential or the park you can look up and see the over sized pumpkin rock and just hike towards it, you cant miss it. Parking is free in residential and also at Pikes Peak Park by the Norco Animal Shelter. I would rate this hike an extremely easy and short hike, if you are a new of beginner it can get a little tough when the incline kicks in but they dont last long. I drove about 45 min one way just to check it out, I got here extremely early to watch the sunrise and was hiking back down to my car in no time. I would highly recommend to get there early only because I was hiking back down about 9:30-10am and there were lots of hikers going up and I mean LOTS!Sad to say but this trail is all dirt, rocks, and dead plants. Nothing nice or relaxing about it.Enjoy the Pumpkin
Beautiful sunset.
Its a big rock painted like a pumpkin. Its pretty cool, massive in size. Decent hike to get to.
Great short hike. Family friendly. Good view of the surrounding cities.
Great hike for kids, not too difficult or lengthy.
