Great ambiance for sight seeing all the boats around you as well as the variety of small shops that come with it. The seals are usually the reason I go there because they are very entertaining in my opinion. Whenever I go here, regardless of the strong fishy smell, which is expected, for some reason it does put me in a good mood especially with the sun on your face. Would recommend it to people who love boats, oceans, fishes, seafood and so on.

Very diverse shops, restaurants, views, and people. Right on the water, but the the best part are the sea lions! They are super adorable, entertaining, and specific to Newport. We also saw jellyfish off the marina docks bigger than a dinner plate!

This is a great place to take a relaxing stroll along the waterfront. The mix of stores and a commercial working fish industry keeps the feeling real.

This review is for Ripleys believe it or not...The outside line was complete chaos....not organized very well. BUT the museum was fun. It was great to be able to go. Social distancing was not adhered to very well. Not because of the museum but because of people. They did a fantastic job placing disposable gloves at interactive displays and hand sanitizer. They are doing a great job despite all the restrictions

Great fun for a quick day trip from Willamette Valley...we luv the taffy and candy shops...fun gift shops and art. After leaving the candy store...my daughter commented that it reminds her of what a candy store in heaven would be like! But the sea lions were our favorite! Loud and stinky though! Grandsons got a real kick outta the lealions on the docks...have fun!

We love Newport bayfront area for all the shops and restaurants. But it was hit hard by the Covid Virus and is still trying to keep the virus at bay with many restrictions and safety measures. Both the restaurants and the seafood processing plants have had many cases of virus affecting them. We can only pray for a quick recovery.

Tons of awesome little shops to buy knickknacks, souvenirs, antiques, new clothes & accessories, a weed shop or two, Charter Boats for fishing & crabbing, and many many restaurants with world class cuisine with some of the freshest & best seafood on Earth! Head on down on a dry day and poke around the shops & grab a bite to eat. Or fish/crab off of the docks or charter boats & catch your own grub. Nothing but potential for fun, culture, & various other experiences. Definitely a must visit if youre planning on spending any time here in Newport,Oregon. Have fun, & Welcome!

Review №39

We stopped here on our road trip up the Oregon coast. There are shops and restaurants and a Ripleys, but I didn’t find any of that stuff appealing enough to spend time in. What I loved was all the sea lions basking in the sun and barking at each other. We watched them for probably a good half hour because they were so funny! They’d jump back in the water occasionally and another sea lion would take its place on the platforms, and then the other sea lion would come back and be upset that its place was taken. So entertaining to watch! I could’ve stayed longer!

A host of things to do - even late at night. Tons of fishing, whale/ocean tours, crabbing from the docks, and of course eating and shopping. Insiders Tip: its one of the best bays for crabbing on the coast - and around December is when their meat is at their fullest (check with ODFW, however, as this can change). At night this place is gorgeous beyond belief: lights twinkling on the water, soft sound of waves lapping at docks and boats. (Search for the Newport Oregon Coast Virtual Tour for even more of these tips). Great historical museum here as well.

This place can be overcrowded when busy. It is fun to visit, with a lot of shop variety, but it can be difficult parking wise. Since it has several working seafood processors it can be a challenge for those that are sensitive to smells. If you are patient and relaxed you can have a great time.
