This museum and the store are gems! if youre looking to commemorate your trip or even shop for gifts for those that are hard to by for, stop by the brick market shop!
So much of what you learn in Newport is from the Gilded Age. This museum gives you scoop on the founding of Rhode island and colonial times. Small but very interesting.
The museum is small, but well put together. We went on a tour too. Our guide was good with lots of knowledge and an affable demeanor, though she spoke rather quickly and was occasionally hard to hear over traffic.
Great place especially the roof garden of the Vanderbild Hotel with views over the harbour. Cute town, twee shops. Museum interesting and friendly.
A wonderful way to learn about why this country was once the greatest country founded and what it takes to be great.
Nice, free museum! It is small, but interesting especially since I had never been to Newport before so I learned some new things. I would recommend coming here especially on a cold day where walking outside is difficult!
If youre in Newport hitting the shops, stop in. Its set up primarily as a book store containing local history books but its surprising how much is there in a small footprint.
Small but very nice.
This is a very small museum in the heart of Newport. There is no admission fee. It has some interesting artifacts and does a nice job of detailing the history of the island. The shop is chock full of basically everything but the kitchen sink, however it does have its charms and the employees are great.
If you love local history, this is a great place to visit.
Small place with really fun things to look at and potentially purchase.
I expected to see a lot more exhibits and information on the Gilded Age as well as other aspects of Newports history. The museum seems focused on the Native American component instead.
Nice shop & museum. spent about 45 min browsing and walking through the exhibits.
Great little museum telling the history of Newport.
Great to do.
Very limited, I suggest you leave a donation after you visit based on your experience vs. paying the $5 suggested when entering
