Very Beautiful beach! It has a great view. The location it’s outstanding. It has a good parking lot near the beach, that you only park and walk. There are a lot of eatery places and stores that you can visit within a walking distance. The people there is very nice. There is also a lot least one safeguard in case someone gets drowned into the water. The sand and the beach are very, very clean. Be careful if you have food. The seabirds will watch the food and you go to swim, your food may be gone when you return. The Sunset it’s jus Spectacular view. Now that we’re on Fall Season, it feels very chill. So, take a sweater with you and enjoy. The parking isn’t free and the machines around, only get cash and not credit cards. You must pay with the exact amount. The machine won’t give you change.
Great, Clean, Lifeguard on duty Beach...Although the Google map leaves you in the middle of nowhere..Took us 30 minutes to find parking a block from the beach thanks to locals whom were so helpful in steering us to a free great parking spot, just I block to the beach & 2 blocks to the pier. 5 stars if there were more visible ocean side beach parking routes & signs.
Newport Beach never disappoints. Parking is great every time (I visit 2+ times a week usually) and the beach itself is awesome. Grab dinner from somewhere nearby and youve got one perfect day!
I came here a few days ago while my daughter was in school. We have come many times.There are a lot of waves for surfer s.The water is blue and beautiful. We really like to jump the waves and boogie board during the summer.Its a good beach to take a walk or run. Beautiful sandy beaches...plenty of open water.I will hopefully be back to L.A. and come here again.
The river mouth is one of the Hidden gems when it comes to surfing and practicing in Newport be warned there usually are not lifeguards on duty unless it gets super super packed which is very infrequent parking is free along the main street that runs parallel to the beach but hard to find on the weekends but during the week not that much of a problem at all so thats a huge bonus its also very safe Beach Ive noticed where youre able to keep an eye on your belongings from the water while surfing. The way its your turn to break very far out and can be good for midsize board surfing in general or shortboard Trent gets larger and if youre willing to wait and longboarder are always there is a long ways they can catch way out that dont get very big the waves shape can get a little steep on the Falls sometimes though so Ive served using a board thats about seven feet and it tends to be about as long as I can get and still get good maneuverability and dropping ability and the ability to catch waves much easier to do it being larger with more mass closer to a longboard and a super short short board
Lots of sharks i had one right next to me and someone got bit by one good thing it wasnt too bad. also, really sandy and i had sand in my junk the rest of the week
Beautiful place. Wonderful beach, great pier, cool beach shops amd restaurants. Not too touristy. One of the Original surfing beaches. Newport culture is a bit insular, part bum, part bourgeoisie. A bit sketchy at night.
Ive been coming to Newport Beach for the past 30 years. Grew up surfing and exploring the town. The beach is good for literally any activity you can think of. Its scenic, theres wildlife, locals are chill, and its just a downright great beach to visit. The pier, the surf, the back bay, and harbor are all spots you should visit. Surf was up! Weather was perfect! Kids stayed in the water all day. Not much more to ask for.
We have always been impressed with the lifeguards here. The waves can be big when a swell arrives and they vigilantly take preventative measures to make sure everyone is safe.

A nice, clean beach with a long walk along the promenade. Not a massive amount of facilities available but if you walk a short distance off of the beach onto to nearby streets there are lots of shops etc to use. Limited free parking but again you can find some nearby if you stop a street or so back from the sea front
This is a very beautiful beach with lots of nearby shops and restaurants within walking distance. The coolest part of visiting this beach is that there was always a lifeguard on duty at all times. I recommend this beach for all ages.

Great lifeguarding! Newport has a fantastic vibe. The water is a little tricky. Gotta keep your feet on the sad lots of riptide and big current. High tide is fun for kids.

We visited the beach during our (Norcal) Spring Break in April. There were few people on this beautiful and well kept beach. The water was super clear.
One of my favorite beaches in SoCal. Clean and beautiful. The only downer is that you have to get here early otherwise, good luck finding parking. But thats the case with most beaches. The plus side about parking here though is that theres free street parking everywhere.I prefer Newport over Laguna and Huntington. Its just a better, cleaner beach. Also, its nice to ride your bike from this pier all the way past the pier in Huntington and back. Its definitely a fun workout, but be careful of cars cause youre gonna have to go through quite a few parking lots with drivers backing out and not paying attention.

Its fun to walk around. Free parking down one of the surrounding neighborhood streets if you dont mind a short walk. Fun to watch the surfers, get food, people watch, and walk under the pier. A lot to do even just a few miles around the pier as well.
This is my home beach. Its a great mix between quiet yet lively. Theres things for families to do and for just a casual hangout with the friends. Not a bonfire beach but great waves for any level of surfer or swimmer. Other than that, its just sand and waves dude.
Just a great spot to relax, read, and watch the beautiful sunsets.
Super nice beach for little kids
Beach is very nice and with a long beach walk connecting it to Balboa pier. Lots of beautiful and expensive of course houses right in front of the sand. Lifeguards are always watching every movement so you could feel really safe, especially for families.
Quiet, large and expansive, clean and overall one of the most beautiful places IMO to relax and take in the sun and get much deserved sand in between your toes.

This is my favorite beach in California. Its clean not too crowded. And the shops around are so cute! I love walking alongside the homes that line the beach and gushing over them. Great place to bring family and friends.

Clean not very crowded and has one of my favorites bars (sharkie)I always go for sunset and is never hot there even in the summer.This beach is never disappointing.

King Tides were in play and it made low tide fun for the kids. Lots of sea shells and sparkly things. Water was warm, sand bar was ankle deep, surf was small where we were, maybe 1 - 1.5.

Stopped by here after the OC Fair because it was so close by. It was enchanting on a Friday night, parking for free on the street and strolling along the beach, listening to the nightlife nearby. Perfect summer night. Take your love here at night.
Good clean beach that is family friendly and soft sand. Great place to set up for a relaxing day at the beach! Good life guards, garbage cans available, plenty of room for any beach games.

My visit there was amazing there was food everywhere there was lots and lots and lots of beautiful things to look at and it was very very fun to be there just me and my wife walking around playing around messing around you know it was amazing and we stayed there all night and it was fun I love the experience just that you have to be prepared to get a little Sandy and by the way what time do they close the pier they closed the pier at 12 2 5 so you got to be there 6 so you can actually get the good view you know and also there is a lot o bless him me and my wife went it started raining when youre trying to walk around this was around like 3 or 4 a.m. dont know exactly but it was pretty dark when it happened but yeah it was fun and he just got to have some people around you so you dont have to be bored and if you are bored its just recommend to do things that you like and if they dont want to go and get new friends yeah thats all I got to say it was so fun thank you

My friends and I went for the day. It was a lovely day all except for the parking. Parking was absolutely horrific. Make sure if you are going to visit this beach that you arrive super early to ensure you get a good parking spot. But there are restaurants, boutiques. The lifeguards make regular rounds up and down the beach. In all, once we got to it...it was a nice day at the beach. Just expect to be driving for an hour looking for parking after 11am.

People watching 5 star with. Reports finest parading skimpy bikinis riding bikes, jogging, etc. Watch the police if not Caucasian. Great food, bars and surf along with beautiful homes and quaint little aces to hang.

I grew up going to Newport all the time. The atmosphere is great. All the shops and restaurants are cool.

Loved this beach. Wasn’t too crowded during our visit the parking was $2/hr and the restaurants around the beach and pier are great. Great place to bring the family as it has a lot of lifeguard presence. Water looked clean and beautiful. Had a great time with the whole family here.

Nice spot. Good surfing, fishing is pretty good. Lots of restaurants and taverns nearby. Had a great meal at Rocking Baja Lobster. I would highly recommend staying near the beach for vacation.
I love this beach. On 17th street it is the point and the waves are pretty narly, if you go in the morning you can catch some barrels
