Quaint town, with plenty of hidden gems. A perfect spot for a day trip. The ride on the ferry was short and sweet and in the end the beautiful sunset is the perfect way to end the day.

Great place to relax and enjoy with family. Large grass play area with tables for lunch.. Nice walk on the peer with good views of sunset. clean bathrooms. Parking is a bit pricy buy its open 24/7.Cheaper parking can be on the streets or other nearby lots.

Perfect beach park with a cool boardwalk.Like a quiet Santa Monica.Rented a four seater bike contraption thing, no brakes and is pretty hard to get moving but it’s a great way to see the beach.

Steep where waves meet shoreline and plenty of parking before 11 am.

I live this place because if its beauty. Im concerned because Newport has literally died. The shops, restaurants and boating businesses are barely hanging on. Theyre isnt much nightlife anymore, the average age is about 65 and it is a bit pretentious and stuffy. Huntington beach is definitely aloft more lively but I live in Newport beach and enjoy its beauty

We had a great time at the pier . rented bikes and covered a few miles of beach roads. Took numerous pictures. Had a bite to eat at one the many places to eat

The biggest problem here People SMOKING, VAPING, LITTERING, Polluting our environment & our beautiful beaches. There are NO SMOKING signs at all our beaches & piers. NO SMOKING On the beaches & Piers & NO SMOKING WITHIN 100 FEET of the beaches & Piers. Please everyone I know you all love these places & I know you want them to be beautiful thats why you go there. So its up to all of us to keep our fun places beautiful.I Love it. Very pleasant nice views. Love the smell & sounds of the ocean, the waves breaking on the sea shore. There are a nice variety of shops, restaurants & bars. Lots to do for everyone including people who dont want to sit on the beach all day.

Yuck. If you are looking for a nice easy beach stop for an hour, skip Balboa and go somewhere else. We made the mistake of going on a Saturday and spent all our time stuck in crawling traffic looking for parking. I never found a spot, I just dropped the family off and idled for an hour while they played.

Love this beach always have a great time....great parking, has a playground, restrooms r close to the pier and to the water. Only beach I go to.

Great place for bonfires and family gatherings! Everything is within walking distance from the pier to local shops and restaurants/bars.

There is plenty of parking, the park area is very clean and perfect for picnic and chilling. The beach area nearby is great and not too crowded.There are lots of little shops with nice merchandise to buy souvenirs from, great little places to munch on or lots of ice cream places to grab something cold near by.The pier nearby gives you the open space to observe and absorb the view of the water, mountains and Palm trees.

I could find parking. Just remember to pay, they do a license plate check to see if you paid.

Love it..Theirs Balboa PierSoccer area - which my son loves to run and kick his soccer ball.A play ground which is in the sea shore near to the beach... so convenient.We went there monday - so the parking lot has a lot of vacant space.Very pretty.

Beautiful. Bay on one side and ocean (withs a beautiful beach) on the other. Prices in shops for food/drink/souvenirs is quite reasonable for a place like Newport Beach.

Its absolutely stunning. I love the available green area. Its nice for the sports (if I was ever athletic.... ) There are extremely convenient fire pits for those likely cold nights. I love the pier. Wonderful, view. Perfect for the sunset. ;)

Beach Bunny at Balboa park.

Its a nice beach. Except for how steep the approach to the water is. That makes it hard to stroll along. The Junior Lifeguards were in action & that was VERY impressive to observe! The dedication & endurance those youngsters possess is beyond anything I have ever achieved. Of course, theres the fact that their parents are paying big bucks to have offspring in the program. But well be needing those lifeguards soon, all over the state.It was a shore-break kind of day, so there were no surfers present.

I took my kids here to enjoy the fresh waters of the beach I was planning to stay at Corona del mar but there was packed so I had to choose a different place to enjoy our day and of course I found it!

Eye-candy for all and tons of fun for littles to bigs playing on the softest zoysia-grass field around. Play tag or anything else you want, til you just cant run anymore. Then enjoy the nightly bonfires and sit awhile with all of humanity laughing and playing together No crime worries here. This is a little slice of heaven on Earth in a place almost untouched by Father Time. ...A Must.Do.

Lots of parking, close by to good walking areas, lots of access to huge beaches and marina views. Beer, pizza and more at good distance from one another giving you a chance to enjoy the great weather.

We took segways through this park and had a blast. Easy to navigate and the sidewalks were wide enough.

Power went off, the city council should use the public beach restroom and stand in line wait (put money in public restroom) santa Mónica beach, seal beach, Huntington Beach are better public restroom.

A wonderful park right on the beach. There are features for both big and little kids and I feel like the beach and is nicer and cleaner than the sand you typically find at playgrounds. Just be careful of the shells if you have a baby or toddler, they will find them and put them in their mouth, which is definitely a choking hazard. But if you are vigilant, its a great park even for the little ones. There is also lots of grass next to the park for them to run around on, with picnic tables too.

We enjoyed playing in the sand and being able to walk around and check out the eateries.

Beautiful place to spend your time, very family oriented. To much to do, or come up with your own new sport!

Can sometimes flood during full moons, but other than that, it’s a great place to be whether your a tourist, or a local.

We parked at the sand. We were able to go whale watching at Daveys Locker and still had time to go the beach after. The park is wonderful too. Bathrooms and showers are adjacent to the park. They have swings, monkey bars, some climbing and the regular play tower with a slide.

Super fun and chill beach not to hyped, but definitely not boring. Its a fun upbeat vibe. The poeple are extreamly cool as well some beaches the people are stuckup but this ones chilled. It gets packed quickly tho so get there early to get a firering!! But if you dont its super easy to make friends and join in on a bonefire,

Cute small park, we ran a few laps around it trying to finish our last run in California. Perfect location, a nice patch of grass next to the beach.

This is such a wonderful beach! Balboa is nice because you dont have to walk super far to get to the water. Even then, there arent a lot of people there. Ive never been there and not found a great place to spend the day. The fact that Rubys is on the pier makes it our first choice for a beach trip!

2★ Fair - Very small park with 5 cement park benches, 3 grills and a gazebo. Across a parking lot driveway theres a bigger flat piece of just grass. Swings, climbing gym, and play gym had no kids whatsoever playing on them, even though there were dozens of young kids around...enjoying the beach! Just looking at the playground gyms, I could tell they were scorching to the touch (8/8/2018), useless, during any hot summer day. Parking...if you can find it, was $2.10/hr. This park has absolutely nothing special. Its fair, adequate at best...

Parking is ingenious, just find a spot go to the nearest; solar power meter and punch in your car license plate number indicate how long you want to park there and use debit card or other to pay the machine will give you a receipt to place on the dashboard. One day of parking is under $20.

We saw homes by day that were decorated for Christmas. Took cruise to see lights of Decorations.

This is a beautiful beach to walk around and pass some time. We bought food from a local restaurant and came to the beach to eat and watch the waves crash into the shore. Nice play ground for kiddos to climb around on.

A Great place to stroll around.Very clean.Has arcades & a few rides for the kids.There are some boat excursions available,one being a ferry going to Balboa Island.Many small gift shops surround the small streets leading out to the large boardwalk,where you will find many fishing,& a famous diner at the end.Although there are lifeguards,swimming is Not recommended as the surf is Quite powerful.2 hour metered parking amply available.Nice for All ages.
