If I could give no stars I would. Do not get a membership with them unless you plan to us it often. The customer service is horrible. They only communicate via email and it takes several days for them to contact you back. WORSE!!

At first I felt pretty welcomed as I was taught about being able to grab a token for a locker. Each Y I have went to never told me that it was included in my membership as I chanced placing my belongings in there with hopes no one touches it. I decided for the first time to get out of bed and do as my doctor requested which was start working out. I wanted to try a Step Class which I later found out was Step 2. As soon as I walked in, it just felt weird. The instructor was going about her business with the ones she was familiar with not even taking the time to introduce herself, the class and the equipment needed. I decided to just grab what everyone else was grabbing and tried to ask an older woman if the mats were necessary and she acted as if I scared her. Answered me as she seemed to be running away from me. I didn’t pay that no mind so I decided to go to the back of the class to exercise and automatically felt lefted out as the instructor started to yell out moves without me knowing and not even attempt to do some sort of modification. Like she enjoyed yelling out all the moves and everyone dances and steps all around me as I’m left clueless. I decided to then just step what I am familiar with but she didn’t seem as if she even cared that I was stuck. After trying not to allow any of that bother me I said I will not feel like a complete fool no longer and decided to walk out. I’m use to being at an Y that are actually compassionate when it comes to their members and their needs. I never felt as unwelcomed as I felt in this class. I will now drive to Buckhead (45 mins) or Atlanta (35 mins) before I go back to the Y that is 6 minutes up the street from me.

I’ve visited this particular YMCA only a few times as a guest but that was enough for me after seeing how employees were being treated by not only fellow members BUT ALSO what seemed to be someone of higher status in the building. I believe it was the aquatics director that I’ve heard say some very disrespectful things to some of the workers and she used unprofessional language as well. This upsets me because I believe that to gain respect you also have to give respect, and I hope to see this change next time I decide to visit again. Especially since the people they have working are always so friendly and do their job right. They don’t deserve to be treated the way that I’ve seen them be treated.

The Y isnt your average gym. They offer a safe place for your whole family to live a healthy lifestyle. For the little ones, the childcare is top notch. And if you want to have a little workout with the kids, the staff wont frown on that. Its not the flashiest gym, but theyre not about that. You have everything needed to get fit (and buff, if thats your thing) there. My whole family are members of the Y and we go multiple times each week. Well worth it!

Today was my second visit to the Summit Family YMCA in Newnan Georgia. I walked in and went to a class that I assumed would be a beginners Zumba class. The class seemed to be a bit advanced. Everyone knew all the dance moves but me and maybe three other ladies in the back. I just moved along they ignored me every step of the way. I left in the middle of class and went to walk the track. After walking the track I went to pick up my son from the childcare area and was told that I had left him for too long this week and was unable to continue my workout. This was only my second visit and I have never worked out more than 45 minutes per my two days at this facility. It was just a very very bad night I will not give up on it. I will try again and hope that things will change in the near future. I pray that they get knowledgeable friendly staff really soon. I have really high hopes for this place. I do not want to leave but will leave if this continues.

Everyone is very helpful and kind. There are a lot of programs for me to choose from that are safe for me to do that will help me with my injuries after spine surgery. I like how quiet this place is and love the lap track. I use that often. They do a lot for the community to that other people can get involved in. Overall, this is a great gym so much so that I wish hours were extended a little.

The sense of community I get when participating in programs. This isnt just a gym. Yes, I go to to improve and maintain my health and physical fitness. But in addition, I also benefit from the personal interactions with the staff and other members. The staff are very personable, and I can tell they really care about helping me reach my fitness/healthy lifestyle goals. I have also enjoyed meeting new people in the classes I attend. Overall, I would have to say that I have benefited in many ways from my membership with the Summit YMCA!

The holidays are hard. Most people gain weight during this time....too many family and work events....To prevent weight gain we have been consistently working out. Now we are visiting family in ATL....but we want to continue working out while away. Today my husband and I visited and worked at the YMCA. We loved the facilities and wanted to come back for a couple days while in town. Huge disappointment that they only have month to month for $93. Spoke to Ms. Mitchell who was kind, but unwilling to accommodate us for two days. I am not sure why this is not a policy and it seems like a limitation in membership. Will go to another fitness center that will charge $15 daily rate for each person, but would have preferred to stay here for the 3 days that we are in yown. The price we will play to keep it tight!

They don’t seem to know anything!! I called for a reservation for the pool for a birthday party and the first person told me to call Lynch Park pool. Called the pool and that lady cut me off before I could say “party” and said “unfortunately it is first come first serve but if you want to book a birthday party that’a a different story.” ...ummm why in the world would I think I need a reservation to swim unless it was for a party?! Perhaps this woman should let people finish their sentences. Then she tells me I actually need to call a specific woman at...you guess it - the Y. She gives me a number and says it is her “direct line.” It wasn’t. Call the number and a message says “if you know your party’s extension please enter it now.” I know it’s a big facility, but surely someone should know how to make a simple party reservation.

Love this Y! Heather, membership director, takes time with members and makes sure questions are answered and concerns are taken care of. The instructors are top notch. Better than other Y facilities we’ve been at... Love Samantha’s 30/30 class. If you take the classes, you get to know the regulars and there’s a nice sense of community. Our kids enjoy the play center and I like the fact that most of the time there are organized activities or play versus just babysitting. My older son is enjoying basketball and Garrett rocks the coordinator gig. We are glad to be part of the Y family!

There are many large companies that employ Coweta residents (school system for example) yet there is no deal available. Lots of kid activities. Terrific! You cant beat the YMCA for an inexpensive, family-centric, gym. Our family of five loves it. The facility is modern and the staff are friendly. I strongly recommend this YMCA.

Sasha Sims is absolutely amazing, she has coached our daughter Emma for soccer & basketball and we just cant say enough about her!Her patience, creativity and positive attitude are contagious! Coach Sasha really takes the time to remember the childrens names, pair them together appropriately according to skill level and most of all have fun! Our daughter, without a doubt, is Sashas biggest fan but she never brushes her off and always takes the time to say hi and ask her about her about her day.Sasha works equally as well with the parents, even though we all know some can be difficult just like the children.Thank you to the Newnan YMCA for being great, we truly love you all and espically the parents night out program, and to Coach Sasha you are a ROCKSTAR!!The DOnofrio Family

Ive taken my daughter to the Newnan lynch park pool for years and now I Wont return!! Its really sad that the city of Newnan handed over the lunch park pool to the YMCA!!!!. Now, the pool water is constantly dirty and cloudy. Its so cloudy that I couldnt see my hand in front of my face under water and thats wearing goggles!! It appears that theyre running the facility on the narrowest of margins for safety. When the city had the pool there were 5-6 life guards posted when the pool was crowded, compared to the YMCA staff of 4 and sometimes 3 life guards posted for the same situation.Ive spoken to several regulars I saw from seasons past and they completely agree that the pool is poorly run and they also said many people who came in years past will no longer go for the reasons stated above. It appears that YMCA members can use the pool for free, if thats true then this pool is no longer a public pool, but rather a way for the YMCA to gain membership at the expense of the rest of the public. Now, the pool sells food! I got a better idea, why dont you focus on running the pool correctly before you go in the direction of profit motive!!I just wanted to thank the city of newnan for taking a great thing and ruining it. This situation is a prime example of what happens when you privatize something that should remain a in the cities control for the benefit of its citizens!!
