A great wildlife refuge combining both Marsh and sea shore environments. Many turn offs on the road though the sanctuary with about seven parking lots with bird blinds, observation towers and boardwalks to the beach. Seashore environment is a close to natural as can be in this surburban area.

Spent an ordinary summer afternoon at the refuge birding and were able to identify 22 different species. The refuge staff does a great job. Most of the beach closed April to mid August to protect endangered beach nesting birds. Great place to get a feel for the natural coast habitat.

These are well kept lands. You can visit some beach areas or more wooded areas depending on what you are looking for. I have spotted Piping Plover, Black Backed Gulls, and so many ducks. This is a great place to take the family, if are looking to enjoy nature, or if you just want to spot many unique mammals and birds.

Love visiting with the grandkids. Have been several times and still have not seen it all. Great info at the visitor center, so stop by there, get a map and talk to the folks there. Very helpful.

Absolutely breathtaking views, with a clear beach to walk on in the middle of winter. The juxtaposition of ocean and snow separated by sand was surreal. I would recommend to anyone into birdwatching or walking on beaches.

Carol was great showing us the map & all there is to see. Enjoyed our visit and seeing all the wildlife. Got some great pictures and she was right on with her warning about the green headed flies. We had a few in our car we had to remove.

Im afraid to give this place a great review because a lot of traffic would ruin what is a quiet and beautiful oasis. They do charge an entry fee and certain areas are closed off to protect the wildlife.

This is considered by most to be the best location on the Northern Massachusetts New Hampshire shoreline. A federal facility there are many places to go to watch Birds and a nice Shoreline with pristine beaches accessed by raised boardwalks. Open year-round it is considered the Mecca of birders throughout the area.

This is not very exciting for people in a hurry, but it is sobering to be able to wonder over sand dunes that have been overgrown by low scrub and some trees and contemplate all the life hanging on just out of reach of surf.
