Great variety of shows by the local Ritz Community Theatre. They do young kids shows, shows by teens, and shows by and for adults. The Rocky Horror Picture show is an example of one they do annually and is always well received.
It wasnt 5 years ago, it was last Saturday, 7/27.The theater has been completely restored. We went to see the Edgar Loudermilk band. It was a great show in the completely renovated Ritz theater.
This is a wonderful community theater run by a passionate community! Cant wait for the next show.
So cool seeing history preserved. My dad and I were just walking around downtown and popped our heads in to see it. Next thing we know we were getting a private history tour. You can tell they love what theyre doing to keep restore this historic jewel!
The place to meet - good theatre
Local drama & theater team. Changes seasonally. Pretty cool, & historic
This is always a fun experience set in an old movie theater surroundings. Most often led by a strong group of local talent, and offering a great variety of shows throughout the year. Concessions are available too at very reasonable prices.
This is a place which has been in Newberry for many years. Its a very nice size . it was a movie theater
I took the tour (Thank You, Phil!)...at the Opera House and was greatly impressed. I am very involved with theater in my hometown in Alaska and love seeing other theaters/plays away from home. I hope to see and experience the same at the Ritz !
This is a beautiful theatre space. My one time experience here wasnt good but I think it was a freak thing and it had more to do with other patrons and city work than the theatre, performers, or those working the box office and concessions. Everyone working was very nice. The city was doing some work down the street and the electricity went out for a good 15 minutes, two songs before intermission. The other patrons at this particular performance were at best, ignorant of theatre etiquette and at worst, just incredibly rude. People moved from the front row to the concession stand and back in the middle of songs, texted in the front row and liked swim suit models instagrams and watched mma on their phones during song performances. I would strongly recommend having a brief etiquette overview at the top of every performance AND having a house manager who isnt afraid of conflict enforcing the expectations and asking people to leave or at least put their phones away during the performances. That being said, I would give the theatre the benefit of the doubt, assume these arent typical occurrences and give it another opportunity in the future.
Saw an AWESOME rock show. Great sound. Had a BLAST!
