Great place to visit for kids! There are a ton of things for them to play with. There is a room with various toys such as Lincoln Logs and Mega Blocks that are organized and labeled in drawers. Plenty of hands-on exhibits and play areas. The upstairs has an in-depth history of the area that adults can enjoy. I had no idea the first woman to fly solo around the world was from Newark and started and finished her flight in Columbus!

The works is a wonderful place that allows children to expand their minds. Today we were able to watch 3 programs from dinosaurs, ectoplanets, and glass blowing. And the kids still got to play with all the things downstairs like building racecars and houses plus check out the museum upstairs. They were really fascinated with the typewriter, the old phones, the old computers, and the old cameras. Definitely some things have changed bc of covid but they r trying hard to still make it an enjoyable experience.

Definitely a small museum but for its size there is a lot to see and do. My 4 year old really enjoyed it especially the kids area and the train car. She could played in the kids area for over 3 hours if we weren’t short on time. I personally enjoyed the historical portion of Newark on the second floor.A definite must if you are in the area.

Visited on 09/18. They have a brand new planetarium! The exhibits where new/ renewed and all the place was clean and with lots of knowledgeable and friendly staff and volunteers.Basically the ground level is all hand on activities and second level is kind of museum about the businesses and factories around town. The garden and buildings around are also kept in good shape and are a good spot for a walk during warm weather. They also have a glass making studio...you can blow your own piece of art!At first looks small but has too many activities that you can easily spend all day with little kids or just go for an adult escape to the glass class and planetarium

A sweet museum in downtown Newark. They are always improving and great with kids. Best for ages 10 and under. My older kids get a little bored. But we have been there many many times. The toddler / preschool play imagination area is small, but great.

Okay. Nice place to take small kids. Would be nicer if theyd repair some of the broken exhibits. Last I was there, the second floor was extremely warm. Likely due to the heat from the glass blowing studio below it. IlI be interested to check out the science dome sometime.

I love The Works! Similar to COSI, The Works provides hands on experiences for children and families to help them learn about Science, as well as local, national, and worldwide history. They are the STEAM headquarters for Newark and I truly experience something new each time I visit. They also work with local schools and educators, creating partnerships that really help students. I know my preschool class loves when The Works comes to visit!

Absolutely love it here. Very inexpensive for what it is. Small children love it. Older ones have fun and learn. Glass blowing is awesome. Staff is incredible. Highly recommend this as a place for kids birthday parties. Dont underestimate the museum part! Cant beat it for history of Newark or Licking Country.

The location itself is pretty great. There are interesting exhibits for adults and lots of fun things for kids to do. The only negative things are that some of the exhibits are broken with no sign of repair in sight and the frequent school field trips make the entire pace feel quite hectic.

Ive taken my class (K-2 special needs) here twice for a field trip. They had a wonderful time both times. The staff is very friendly, and there is so much for the kids to do. The whole first floor is a giant play area with tons of science-y activities. Theres enough to keep kids occupied for quite a while. I would say kids as old as even 4th grade would enjoy themselves.

Our kids had wonderful Spring Break excursion to The Works with their friends! The boys kept busy all day with the multiple different activities and the girls while a little older enjoyed themselves too. The Works is better suited for early elementary to late elementary years. But don’t take my word for it, check it out for yourself!
