I actually was excited to work with Jeremy and his team but after basically stacking all his friends/co-conspirators to receive employment. I still attended their classes for Armed Guard. Due to certain circumstances I had to inquire about a refund for the one class I attended three months ago +deposit of $500. When I called to the office and inquired about a refund. I was immediately placed on hold and then all my calls after were busy. After several calls later with the busy signal my friend asked for the number and BAM, Jeremy. He explained to me THAT THEY ABSOLUTELY DO NOT DO ANY REFUNDS AT ALL. I did not have a problem with that. The problem is the way Jeremy, after having years in the Alleged security/business experience spoke to me. I could not get a word in and it felt like I was being told off with Condescending tone. Scolding me for not being able to get employment with his company yet making failed promises of getting employment when interview. When I told him I had contacted them multiple times and I was told by him that he would help me acquire a job. He told me it must have been my fault because he hires 26 people a week and have a 4.6 score rating. After doing research it’s 4.2. He made me feel like how dare I talk down to him. After reading several reviews I discovered he is nothing but a scam artist. I wrote this to say READ YOUR CONTRACTS AND ALWAYS READ THE REVIEWS WHEN RESEARCHING COMPANIES. They say thing during the interview to pull you in and change when it’s time. DO NOT GO HERE NOT WORTH THE MONEY.

WOW google community please disreguard the negative reviews and KNOW THIS Jermery IS extremely professional and informative. Even if you dont sign up with AFA, Jermery will still offer his assistance. Jermery called allied on the spot and opened a door for a better paying job and this was like literally 2 mintues into the interview. This is not a scam but you may feel that way if you dont research the fees prior to. Only thing free in this world is air!!!! You want to make good money be prepared to spend good money!!!!!!

Got scammed $500 for a osha 10 hour card couple years back,I left the office once I saw him.Jeremy Fernandez and his other buddy Eric Powell . I did not see the Eric guy.He must be making 6 figures. He is a smart guy wish I’d make 6 figures being a con and getting away with it. Guys Do your research before coming here you can search for your own employment and save a lot of your hard earning money ... when I say he’s the smartest con artist I really mean it.. from New York City to Newark NJ.

Hello, there!With all my heart I recommend you to Amercan Firearms Academy for armed guard and unarmed guard, SORA including.What a package ! Who can beat that ? In addition to that, the instructors are super qualified. There’s no way you come in here without learning anything.It’s cheap compared to other places and the instructors know very well what they’re doing.

This place is a scam. I paid $500 for a SORA license, training and fingerprints. Come to find out, I could have paid less than $200 at several different locations for the license, fingerprints AND the SORA class! Some security jobs will even pay for your training. I wish I could get a refund. Theyre a bunch of con artists, captialisizing off people desperately looking for work. Since I already spent my money, I have to go with it but I wish I knew better.Edit: The owner responded to my review and told me why didnt I spend my money elsewhere, when I CLEARLY stated that I already spent my money here and had no idea I could have gotten the same exact resources for less until after. Sure, I would love a refund but I want to keep everything Ive already worked for.

Jermey is a scam artist. On the phone they told me to bring $150. Then when I got there he told me to bring an extra $399 but on the paper it says $500. He tried to charge me an extra $50. Sora licenses doesn’t cost that much it’s places that charge about $250 for fingerprints, classes, and the actual sora license. I never went back after I found out he was a scam artist.

Whatever you do, DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS PLACE !!!! It’s a scam! You will spend over $2,000 between what they charge and buying you’re own weapon for a training that feels scampish from the get. When you go for the OC spray you go to a field in Newark that’s in the property of a biker club and when you do you’re final day at the range you don’t even get a call back notifying you that you’re id’s are ready!!! And you will not even be aware if they came in if you don’t call. To add on, you have to wait atleast minimum 3 months after the final... you are paying over $2,000 all together you deserve to atleast be notified of these things, especially the fact that they are soooooo strict when it comes to them receiving their payment. Please take my advice and do not go thru this, save you’re money and look elsewhere!!!!

They lie to you, they said that you would make 30 to 40 an hour which is not true, in reality is 16 to 20 an hour for armed security and I paid 1500 only the class plus count the gun and duty belt thats 2500 at least and they never help you to find a job. the interview where I was they always asked for permit to carry a gun and this academy never warned about this. There are so many things that I want to said but it not worthy. Like I said DO NOT wasted your time and money here. I am not the only one is this situation.

The classes provided useful information, but nothing offered here was worth the money that was spent for it. Two close relatives of mine went through this business. One for an armed guard training (not license) which was $1500, and one for a regular SORA, which was $550. There are plenty of places offering SORAs for much less than $550 with job recommendations. Id advise shopping around. In terms of the armed security guard classes, my relative was not told in advance that hed need to purchase a firearm before he could complete the class. It is understandable, but it was literally just sprung on him during the second class. Classes were sometimes cancelled without notice and communication was lacking at times. I am not going to say this is a scam like some other people have, but if I could offer any advice, Id say weigh your options.Edit: Let me also add unprofessional, as you can see several of the businesss replies to people who have given less than positive reviews. I am able to speak on this because I helped pay for them. There is a difference between a SORA being free and being included in the price. Instead of taking the feedback and making your business better, youd rather attack people who have spent money on your business.

I have had a great experience with AFA Serena is very helpful and always sends me on job interviews when she can . Jeremy has always been a stand up guy . Even though I have not found a Armed Guard Position as of yet I still recommend this school .

The Information was helping but I have a question, what if I just want to get my fire arms permits do I have to take the class or u just give that as a bonus.. just interested in getting my gun license. Also I have had false charges brought against me in 1995 the charges where dismissed but keep coming up I work for the state now, 2 get my license do I need to get those charges expunged?

Ive been applying to security jobs left and right for about 5 years now. Having no luck I get a phone call from Jeremy to come in regardless of having no experience, no certs, no license, and no firearm permit. Him and his staff set up a schedule for me to take SORA classes, firearms training, showed me how to receive my firearms permit, and landed me a security job at a different company all in 1 day. Eternally grateful for this

Great place to get assistance to become certified. Great environment with an amazing staff, who will do their best to get you certified and employed as soon as possible. Simple straightforward instructions and knowledgeable instructors. Always new faces coming in and out of the office when i go. Its truly the best place to go. Despite the bad reviews people are saying . I have had a WONDERFUL experience with American Firearms. I havent worked in 5 years due to multiple surgeries. As soon as I walked in I was greeted & felt welcomed. Jeremy was very detailed and explained the program to me very well. I know I asked a lot of questions lol but he was very kind. I signed up for my Armed Guard training & Sora. He sent to see Mr. Flood the same day & I was hired on the spot for Unarmed $15 to help me for my training. how amazing is that!!! And the company he sent me to has an Armed Division so I will be moving up real soon!!

Jeremy at AMERICAN FIREARMS was very helpful In getting me a job with EPIC SECURITY. I spent 1 month and 14 days in getting a security job. It only took me a week with them. Once I was able to pay for everything, I was able to work the same night I got my uniform.

Please dont waste your time or money with this academy. You can get your SORA on your own for way less money. There are also many companies that give you the training for free....This is not a fake account. I paid $550 and it was not worth it. I found my own job, that they did not refer me to. The jobs that they referred me to were not good. I couldnt get my fingerprints done until more than a week after my SORA training class. Fingerprints can be done before you take training, the academy just chooses to make you wait (wasting more of your time). After my fingerprints were approved, the results for my training still were not posted after two weeks. I was hired on August 3rd by a company & I havent even had my orientation because I am just now receiving my SORA that I should have had at least a week and a half ago... Moral of the story, dont do it. They will stress you out & have you jobless after paying them $500-650.

I also work another security company. I had good things follow and I was hesitant to get my SORA. This company is a good company.

Ive dealt with many security firms and training firms in my 10 years as a guard.. I am a military veteran with 2 tours and I know security!!!This place is genuine and offers quality training.. they helped me get work before I stepped foot in class.. I dealt with Jeremy and Serena***** 5 stars..I read some other reviews.. all the bad reviews are from people who NEVER attended the Academy.. thats horrible..Trust... I expose the frauds like the ones in Jersey City and Hillside NJ.. these guys are LEGIT

While I cannot and will not comment on the training itself because I did not go through with it I will share my opinion on the experience I had. This place will advertise on job sites as if it’s an actual job you are applying to, Then tell you, You have to pay and go through their training. There is no garunteed job in the end just job placement assistance. So to anybody looking just be mindful that it is NOT a job interview, but more of “Pay for my training and you MIGHT get the job I advertised as”. As a message to the owner, You would get far better reviews if you advertise truthfully. Not a false advertising/bait and switch. I applied for an “Armored truck driver” got the phone call after I had done my own research and found out what it really is, I politely declined on the phone. I guess Mr.Ramos felt some type of way and started to cop an attitude telling me I have to take his training in order to become an armored truck guard (which itself is completely not true because armored truck companies such as brinks and Dunbar will train you in house, I know that from personal experience). While I was trying to explain to him that I thought it was a traditional job application/interview not for a paid training/placement he rudely hung up on me. And he wonders why people leave the reviews they do? Advertise truthfully, no bait and switch (which I believe is illegal) and you bad review problem will be relieved. That’s all I have to say...So to recap. Stop the illegal bait and switch/ false advertising, and anybody reading this just be mindful that this is NOT a job you are applying to and you’re not garunteed a job, but instead are getting thorough training which I would assume would put you ahead of normal applicants.

Traveled all the way from Jackson NJ and met with Jeremy. The classes were taught by Doug (I think his last name is worth). I never held a fire arm before let alone fire one until then.. the quality of instruction is class A.. I loved dougs patients, concern and knowledge. Before I stated the firearms training Jeremy helped me get a SORA. only had to pay 75:). Then landed me an interview with Allied Universal and was hired as an unarmed guard .. this helped me pay training.. these guys went above and beyond .. I didnt know what to expect coming up here but THANK GOD I DID.. REALLY TRULY APPRECIATE EVERYTHING YOU GUYS DID FOR ME.. HIT EM STARIGHT JEREMY.. FORE RIGHT!!!!

Went in for an interview around November. The office seemed ghetto and the office workers seemed inexperienced and unprofessional. The guy that interviewed me was ghetto as well. It seemed that he was trying hard to act professional. Once he finished interviewing me, he told me I would receive a temporary licence (never got it) I lost $150 I think. Stay away from this company, I would love to give them zero stars, but I cant. SCAM SCAM SCAM.Edit: Suck it Firearms.

Im not sure of the reason I received a call from this place and I almost never leave a review of anything. I was called after professional work hours ( 730-8pm) in regards to a training program for a sora license and for employment assistance that I didnt know I needed, but I was open to the call. I allowed the gentlemen to proceed in the call, and he then told me that I needed a 350 Dollar deposit. I became very skeptical of this offer but before I can respond after declining to pay 350 the guy hung up. How you carry yourselves in a manner of professionalism is what brings contiuous positive feedback. Whoever is handling whatever services offered needs to uphold a better conduct when speaking with anyone in general. Im not sure how well your services are and I cant speak about them but verbal conduct alone over the phone was very aggressive and rude. And if this individual is a firearms holder you make us all look bad.

I’m supposed to go into for an interview today but reading the reviews smh. It’s not just the reviews that turn you away it’s the response by the owner. Very unprofessional. You say the training for SORA is free but I was told to bring in 350. I’ve had the experience of working in a hostile work environment. So I’m going to pass on even coming in to speak with you guys. The professional way when someone leaves a bad review is not to respond negative but to look for ways to improve your company. Because of that you can scare potential candidates away.

Met with Jeff, he said I would be placed as Security Concierge for a company however; I needed to get a SORA for that job and their company offered that service with a non- refundable registration fee of $150 to make sure I get a seat in the class and $499 for the SORA training with that I do receive lifetime placement assistance with the company and in the case I was not pleased with a job placement I could come back and be placed somewhere else without a doubt….Well turned out that was not the case, cos I have been to the office for placement and got nowhere till today. I would not rate this company as a five star due to the fact that I did pay in full for a job placement and was never hesitant to do so and to not have a service I paid for is quite disappointing. Yes! Your company is good at customer service but that is not the service I paid for and as such you as an owner need to be more efficiently clear on what your company offers. $650 is a lot for a person that does not have a job, yet I managed to pay in order to get what I paid for. It was quite disappointing and not a full 24hr class training first day was 4 hours and second day was 2 hours. Do your research and check reviews before entering into these business transactions. I learned that the hard way. Please get it right that I have no experience and I just immigrated here, yes i have and i did it the right way. Before i came here in this great country i was an aviation security officer before so you saying I have no experience shows how little you are informed. I do use my correct name, and i do apologize that you seem to find me rude for being flat out honest, your ego is just hurt that I am speaking out and I feel so sorry for you to feel that way .....however, my name is surely not Sanjay so I hope you get it right the next time!!!!! The fact that reputable companies just charge $99 with no registration fee required tells me so much more, so beats me what you trying to say.....anyways I really do not know why you claimed I got placed by your company when I didnt.... I went through another company and got work all the more reason I placed this review cos their process didnt even take a day!!!!
