If you guys just take a minute to research or even visit their store, the treatment of their puppies says enough! They’re kept in tiny cages with hamster water bottles to drink out of, no type of bedding and they use the bathroom under them. They poop and pee in their cages and it goes into these little holes under them. It’s hard to explain without seeing photos so please research and do your part this isn’t how innocent loving dogs should be treated.

Today I came here looking for a new addition to my fish tank. I have a peaceful community fish tank and wanted to add a peaceful addition from the cichlid family.Originally I came looking to buy a few discus but after seeing them I changed my mind. They were not swimming around, they looked stressed out, swimming in place at the top of the tank and 3 discus were at the bottom of the tank dead. I was really upset as I had my heart set on getting discus’. I assume they were under stress from their water condition. (Discus are hard to catch, find and hard to bread )However, I saw this beautiful fish in a top fish tank all alone with no tag and no price. Long story short, I was told it was a geophagus brasiliensis for 35.99. When I got home I actually noticed that she is not a geophagus brasiliensis but rather a threadfin acara. Also, she has hole in head disease. I noticed walking around that most tanks looked unhealthy and most had atleast one dead fish in them. I also bought 2 red parrot fish who were in a tank with fish who looked like they had ich. I hope my fish don’t have any serious issues/die and they don’t spread anything to the other fish in my community tank. I am slowly regretting buying fish from here.I thought I was safe buying from a fish in a different tank but I see now that is not the case.Also, one of the parrot fish has blackish tips probably due to ammonia burn. I probably won’t be buying fish here again. The tanks in this store need serious cleaning and more frequent water charges.

One of the last real pet stores left around. They are great. Have basically anything you could want, for just about any animal you have. I really like them because its a local shop, that does it right.

Just bought a puppy from there (yes, I know, adopt dont shop). Hes a 3 mo poodle and since Im allergic to dogs and hes hypoallergenic, its perfect. Hes very healthy. The cages could have been cleaner. And theres a 15 min play window. The store has a nice selection. We took the dog back to buy something else and everyone recognized him and he was happy to see them.

Hello, good day, please manage you pets properly. I have seen many dogs and cats in tiny cages without bedding, and clean water. They are extremely bored and deserve a lot more care. I hope you can keep these pets in good condition. If you can buy these pets do so! to keep them from this mistreatment.

This is a great place! The customer service is excellent and they have plenty of merchandise in stock. There are some amazing live animals here, I especially love the Macaw! Even if youre not in the market for a new pet, the experience is worth the stop! Keep up the great work everyone!

We went to buy my son a rabbit so glad they sell them here. I thought I could go to any pet store and buy one. Apparently not! But the guy who worked here helped us very much. He informed us about everything the rabbit needed. He was very patient and answered all of the questions we were asking. He seemed very knowledgeable. Will definitely be back!

It is a hit or miss with this place. Depending on the staff members ...some can be very pleasant, where others make you feel as if youre bothering them.

I used to love going to Pet Kate II but some reason (dont know if its COVID 19) its not up to its usual high standards. The fresh water fish area is in bad shape. The Oscars had what appeared to be ick on them. There was almost no feeder fish and half of the tanks seemed to have low water and/or a dead fish on the fiteation vacuum. The cats and rodents looked like they were in great shape. But when I used to think of Pet Kate II, I used to think of a miniature aquarium. The item I purchased is not the quality I was expecting or what I paid for it. Hope they get back to their old ways.

Just got a kitten from here. Usually try to adopt (I have 3 grown babies) but adopting a kitten is very difficult because of high demand. I was allowed 10 minutes with him while employees stood in watched, so I didnt want to be rude and check him for fleas, plus we werent allowed to pick him up. Get home, check him with a flashlight..... he is COVERED IN THEM!!!! They make you sign a contract that says the animal is healthy, at least VISUALLY, to them. One look at this babys stomach and you would be able to tell he has fleas so this is BS!!!! do not shop here!!!! Im glad he wasnt given to the wrong people who wouldnt want to pay even more to treat him.

Dogs are kept in tiny cages, they also do not have mats for the cages. The dogs walk on metal which is not good for their paw pads and health in general.

Hunter was an amazing salesperson. He was extremely knowledgeable about the reptiles and the puppies. He helped me make a very difficult decision about a golden doodle that I am now in love with. I wish there were more customer service representatives like Hunter.

This place is just OK. I bought my third ferret from here and he is Awesome !!! I paid way too much and I would have went somewhere else, but when I met my little guy I totally loved him. This store is very well stocked on just about every pet need that you may have, but in my opinion they are Way overpriced.!!! As for the staff, they are fantastic. So, bottom line is if you shop around you could save yourself about 30%, if your not on a budget this place is for you.

This was my first time to this store. I love it! I found turtle food for a good price. The workers were pleasant & helpful. They have a lot of creatures to look at!! - lizards, birds, gerbils, fish, chinchillas & even ferrets!! I talked with a customer who had her 5 pet guinea pigs with her in the store! Great visit! I will return.

This place needs to be shut down!!! These puppies are not being taken care of. They don’t even have beds

There a lot of good and bad about is pet store. Got 4 ferret from here. One had ear mites, we say something to people at work there and the manager at ferret had something wrong about him 3 weeks later they still didnt do anything, so we bought him and got the ear mites out. Ferret are $250 here now, but Petco is $200. Dont know why they up it by 50. They got great deals on crickets and they give a military discounts.

Love this pet store! Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. All sorts of animals ready for a new home. We enjoy seeing the resident macaw whenever we stop by to pick up our cats list of demands.

Absolutely terrible! Took my shitzu to get a cut and thats how they brought him back. The barber a.k.a butcher looked high and claimed she could cut him correctly because he got aggressive. Dont ever bring your dog to them to get groomed, I will go back to Petsmart, where they routinely been cutting his hair and there was never a problem that they couldnt handle. I’m glad I went through our attic yesterday. Because me and my brother found out old fish tanks. And we had this great idea to get fish. So we decided to go to Pet Kare because they are so nice and they have many things to choose from. I got two Dalmatian balloon molly fish. And I think I’m going to get more fish so I can have a full little aquarium. If you need a pet or you need pet supplies go to Pet Kare. The Employees are fantastic and they care about their animals.

I bought a puppy years ago that was very sick with kennel cough. Thank god for Dr. Spencer who saved her life. They also sold me a sick kitten with ear mites. I feel for those animals stuck in cages. Luckily my fur-babies are doing well. Oh and they footed the bill for the kennel cough .

We called and complained about how we were treated and one of their employees went onto our business website and slandered our name through a google review. This is such sophomoric and truly aggressive behavior. We asked to speak to an owner and we were told “ good luck with that”!

I still somewhat like this place for pet needs, since they do have a wide variety of toys, bones, accessories, etc., but I definitely wont be buying my pet from here now. We went in to scout some puppies, and asked to see one in particular (since it was one of the breeds were we potentially interested in buying). But its personality did not mesh well with ours and the dog was too aggressive for us. We didnt even use our allotted 10 minutes and gave the puppy to the associate. I then asked to see another puppy, but was told it would cost $5 as you apparently only get to see 1 puppy per day. I know $5 isnt a lot, but it can add up quickly if youre trying to find your new family member and want to make sure its a good fit for both sides. I feel like Id go broke before I could even buy my pet. Thats a big turnoff for me. Buying a pet is a huge decision and one you commit to for more than a decade. The money grab baffles me as I thought this place actually cared about its pets and making sure the pets go with a family that connects with them. So, no, we wont be pumping money into this place when we want to find our forever pet.Edit to respond to Pet Kare:I appreciate the reply. No sanitation occurred after the puppy was handed back in, so Im not sure what that portion of your response implies. We used only 2 minutes of our allotted 10 at best, so that was also confusing if the 5 bucks was for additional puppy play time. Also would you issue a receipt for each $5 puppy time so all the funds go toward the puppy purchase? Otherwise Im not sure how each visit would be noted. Overall its still a strange new policy thats unlike any other puppy store Ive been in since most of those have the purell sanitation station for the customer to clean hands after each puppy interaction.

My mother lost her 11 year old pug to cancer in July. I thought that a puppy might fill the void for her upcoming birthday in February. I visited PetKare 2 in hopes of finding a good pet. This is a store that I have frequented over the years for everything from pets to food, medicine, toys, treats and pet gear. As a consumer, I like to be able to support local businesses whenever possible. As per usual, I walk in and received no greeting. (No biggie, I just want to see if there are any appropriate puppies) I walk to the back and stand there for at least ten minutes with no one even saying “Hi” to me. Three employees bustled around me, engrossed in their tasks oblivious to the fact that I had questions. Finally I interrupted one who was literally standing next to me handling a kitten. I asked her a simple question about a mixed breed and sizing. She seemed like it really bothered her to give me an answer. Nonetheless, I explained that I was shopping for a birthday gift for my Mom and that we had previously gotten 5 other pets there. I asked if I could handle a dog to see how their temperament was. She put me in the room with the dog and said you have 10 minutes. Once again, no biggie even though she came across as rude. At the end of literally 3 minutes of handling the dog, I asked to see a second dog for comparison. The employee told me there would be a five dollar fee for playtime. Oh, okay....Immediately I got the sense I was being charged for being a needy customer. So I decided to keep my five dollars and use it towards adopting a dog from a shelter instead of a store that supports puppy mills. I spun on my heels, exited the store only after apologizing to the employee for “wasting” their time. Poor policy and poor customer service on the part of PetKare. Never would you go into any other retailer whether it was the Gap or BMW or anything in between where they would charge you to experience the product before purchasing. If I were a pesky kid with no intention to buy, I could understand charging five dollars, but that was not the case. Purchasing a pet is a decision that takes time and consideration. I will not return to PetKare for a pet, food, toys or otherwise.Amendment: Thank you to the owner for taking the time out of your busy schedule to address my review. I respect your decision to run your business as you see fit. Coming from a retail background, I understand how annoying it can be to have to interrupt important tasks to assist a window shopper. I relate to the challenge of balancing payroll needs between projects and customer service. If I were to pay five dollars for every dog I am potentially interested in making a family member, I could easily be out of twenty or thirty dollars in a short period of time. If one of the dogs fits my needs, then yes the “playtime” deposit can be used towards payment. On the other hand, none of those dogs are a good match, then I don’t recoup the loss. That is where I have a problem. Unfortunately for me, this policy left me feeling unwelcome as a serious customer who is looking to add a new member to the family. Once again, thanks for replying to my concerns. Best of luck with your business.

Good food for pets

Bought a beautiful puppy Monday. Took him to pie veterinarian. thankfully, because he has Kennel cough, their vet certified him, vaccinated him, and he has worms, even though paperwork says np since he was dewormed... 4 times. Very disappointed. Paid big money and now paying more, doe 3 weeks at least.

Associates are very attentive and willing to help! Pets are calm and available for petting.

Very clean and good variety of pet products. Staff is hit or miss. Had a worker preach personal pet care views and was commenting on items we were purchasing, which was very off putting. Havent returned since.

Went in there on my birthday to get a Russian tortoise, 10 days later I go out to feed him and he’s dead. $120 down the drain. I have another Russian tortoise who has been kept in the same living conditions that he was and she is thriving, so I don’t believe that it was anything that I did. Lesson learned, just cough up the extra $80 and get it from a reputable breeder. I now know why they have a 5 day health guarantee, so they can sell you animals that will die in a week and not have to give you a refund.

Went for my first time yesterday. Watch an employee caring for the puppies and changing their station while cleaning. She did great with handling and playing with them. Rabbits. Hedgehogs, and others all looked like their homes were very clean. Birds as well. The staff was wonderfully helpful and informative. Very happy and look forward to returning

Wasnt super impressed with the store. I went to but a dog bed and I noticed all the puppies on the back wall. For me personally I think supporting and adopting from the SPCA or Delaware Humane Association is really important! There are so many dogs looking for good homes. Maybe this place can start teaming up with the local shelters?

It is people like Dakota who make your experience a good one. Dakota is very knowledgeable when it comes to fish. The store is clean, and they take care of us vets.

Came today for my first time and bought 100 crickets for $10. I asked the guy if there was really 100 because it didn’t loon like it but he assured me it was. Once I got home I decided to count how many there was actually in there as I put them in the cricket keeper. Turns out there was only 37 crickets. They ripped me off completely and lost my business and I will make sure to let all of my friends know to take the extra 5 minute drive to a real pet store. On top of the crickets the cages they keep the dogs in are absolutely inhumane.the floor is just wire with no bed and I watched as many of the dogs couldn’t move because there feet were slipping into the holes and hurting themselves. Absolutely discusting. No beds the dogs just sleep on these wired floors

They sell sick animals to try and help their vets business, i bought a dog and they said it was just a cough but when i got to the vet they told me it was a respiratory system infection and i would have to pay an extra $300 for the visit because the store only covered one. so when i went to return the dog the store themselves wanted to charge me $300 also.

I was truly disappointed going into this store. I was a frequent shopper at the location in Bear before it closed. The fish tanks are disgusting. There was a Black goldfish swimming upside down in one tank. They were dirty. That is a recipe for disaster when selling fish. It’s inevitable for customers to come back complaining about dead or diseased fish. Not one sales associate asked if we needed help in the store. I kept trying to get one guys attention in the fish department and it was as if he was purposely ignoring me. Went over to the rodent section and the mice and rats had poo piled up like it’s been there and not cleaned for a while. Store needs a good clean up. Definitely has potential, but I ended up not buying anything because everything was so unclean.

Walked out of this store heartbroken after witnessing the living quarters of the puppies they sell. I went in for small animal bedding and dog shampoo... Walked by and saw the display and its just inhumane. One miniature schnauzer was jumping around trying to play with the one you he had and kept bumping the wall and corners. One puppy was laying in his food bowl. I get the grates are so they can urinate and defecate, but theyre living on wired ground, sleeping with no beds or mats for comfort... In a too tiny box. Safe to say I dropped by items and left. You wont have my business. This should be left to responsible breeders where theyre comfortable and respectably cared for. Puppy mills are a problem, pet shops need to stop enabling!

Why would you keep puppies in a box to sell? If you actually cared for animals you would not sell puppies there but allow rescues to have adoption days for the thousands of animals in need just in your state alone. Im disgusted and its ridiculous you have the word Kare in your name! You do not care for animals when you are selling them to make a high profit and ripping off people who do not know any better in the process. For the love of animals, be the change of pet stores in your state!

Very prompt friendly service

Im looking for a groomer for my cat and no offense or anything my wife is told me to read the reviews. Pet Kare II as a representative that works for a top 10 corporate company better work on your store it is hurting your reviews you lost this customer and I havent even stepped in your store yet to ask questions. Neglect your animals and people see thata then leaves reviews about the conditions of what the store is in the animals are in. People like me that go online and read reviews and worried about the safety of their pet leaving it with a groomer. Is not going to be coming to a place like this after reading several reviews. Team meeting with your bosses & on how to improve stuff around the store and customer experience so better reviews would be highly recommended!!!

I went in to look at some fish and to get 2 filters for my tanks, the staff, Mike and Rodney were very helpful as to which filters to buy for my tank needs. Kudos to them, I made a great purchase and just what I needed for my tanks.

Good selection on products, rewards discounts, workers case by case customer centric or not so customer centric, convenient location, lots of other stores in same shopping center.

Wow what a joke. Sent my 15 year old daughter in with $10.00 to get 2 dozen small crickets and she cane back with 15 crickets and 3 dead ones. I sent her back in to get more and they told her they needed more money because the $2.00 was not enough for more. Then they would not give her the $2.00 back. So I went in and they said well it’s 10 for $1.00 ya but I did not get 20 and ask there were dead ones. When I spoke with the manger he just laughed and handed me my $2.00. What a joke of a store never going there again and you should not go there either. Places like this is why small pets stores close you give pet stores a bad name.

Pet supply prices are good. Great place to buy small animals or birds.

The staff is nice but the cleanliness of the fish section is not very good. I have stopped buying fish from there because I have been there several times and saw ich on fish. They really should start a quarantine program.

The store was clean, they have a large inventory. I do feel as if the staff could have been more Personal more inviting. Felt as if there was a issue between employees and customers!

Very great store where I pick up all the food and supplies for my pets

This pet store doesn’t have the well being of their animals as their priority. They support backyard breeders and place animals such as Great Dane pups in cages that are too small. It is stores such as these that prompted the animal welfare movement to ban pet stores from selling puppies.

They have beautiful birds. A little pricey but beautiful birds.
