I go there all the time for my basketball workouts

Amazing space, Great Staff, Great facilities: Heated swimming pool, indoor track, basketball court, free weights, exercise room, media lab, yoga/dance room.

They always have attitude, and always screaming at someone. I took my best friend there and they made her cry because they screamed at her for asking where the bathroom was. Absolutely disgusting. I would only go there if I have no where else to go...

Nice recreation center. Plenty of things to do. I miss working here.

Out of so many rec centers in NYC, this one in Harlem can be marked lowest in rating. Their pool is small and unlike other rec center pools, it reeks of chlorine way too much.There are programs over there such as free basketball sessions on Saturdays, free swimming session a few days a week, etc. However, it is not much compared to other rec centers.Hansborough rec seems to be one of the lowest on budget rec centers in NYC. There are not much to do there except swimming and working out and dipping in some basketballs. Also, it is in an odd location. Good for locals anyways. At least they get to spend some time there.

Great staff. This place is always clean and the gym is great.

I am having a Pleasant experience there. The staffs are very delightful. Both exercise rooms are very convenient, and comfortable. I even ran on the mini track which was nice. I took a dip in the pool, which was refreshing. everyone was very Pleasant, down to the lifeguards. The ladies locker room was very clean. However, just about everyone came out the shower butt ass naked, and I was very uneasy with that. They need private dressing rooms like they have at river bank state park, because you dont want your child/ children exposed or witness, or even traumatize by seeing strangers naked

The center is small and quiet. The workout equipment gets the job done but in need of more modern equipment. The classes are frequently cancelled. And told the track room is under renovations now. However, if uour looking for a quick and quiet workout its the place for you. Staff could be a little more customer friendly.

It is beautiful

Gentrification is changing the character too much in unnecessary and unreasonable ways. The mandate that people wear specific clothing to lift weights is just a reason to prohibit them freely using the area and making the downtown crowd feel out of place. Just like playing ktu and z100 in a gym in the middle of Harlem is totally indefensible it really is disrespectful and obviously disregards the community and culture that has been patronizing this location for decades. Put power, wbls, or even wbgo on. Quit dismissing the validity of how people do things in their own spaces. Its shameful.

Few staff members are respectful in this facility and the rest have very disgusting attitudes. When asking for help, I don’t need a snappy attitude, especially, considering the fact that you didn’t answer my question and was too busy pertaining to an unnecessary conflict. If you’re going to sit at the front desk, you need to be alert about the people coming in and out of the facility and not trying to deal with them as you may feel fancy. The pool has an unnecessary amount of chlorine and they need to fix that. They also need to have more directing signs available to their members because asking them for help seems to be a burden. Overall, my experience here was disgusting and I hope they bring in a new staff and revamp this center.

Best place to humbly workout without bother, great for exercises before and after working

Friendly and polite staff. The place including the women’s bathroom is clean . The gym is not too crowded and clean as well

I really like this gym but they have to do something about the elevators there I paid $75 dollars to use the pool and I recently found out that the pool has a crack in it and that it wont be fixed no time soon Id like a refund or something for the months Im going to miss not swimming at there pool.

My kids go to summer camp here and it’s very educative and informative. They have tons of fun.

Ive only been to the indoor pool, and its clean!! They keep the womens locker room tidy, and the swim instructors are great. One of them is very easy on the eyes so to speak lol

This was my first visit and it was only to use the pool. Reading earlier reviews, I gather the mens locker room may be pretty cruddy, but the womens locker room was very clean. The staff I spoke to, from the people at the front desk to the lifeguards, seemed friendly and courteous. The pool was a revelation. It is beautiful, with gorgeous mosaic decorations and a skylight, although I gather all the city pools have skylights, or at least those I have swum in. I cant comment on anything else, but so far so good.I do plan to swim there again, especially because it wasnt that crowded. More people arrived as I was leaving, so I would have been curious to see how well the lifeguards manage crowds. There were some kids who were playing in the deep water area but were obviously experienced swimmers. I would have found it annoying if they swam without looking and interfered with those of us who were swimming laps, but I had no problems with the swimming I was doing and I hope that when there are more people, the lifeguards are proactive in assuring everyone can swim safely in the way they want There were roped areas where the little kids could have fun splashing around.

NYC Parks Dept located in Harlem. Nice gym but small, gym is used for bball and dance classes. Heard they did weighted hula hoops on the roof

Clean, well maintained. The mens locker room was renovated. The staff is helpful and polite. The tiles and architecture surrounding the pool is historic and a pleasure to use .

Personell Are Excellent Alot Of Different Things To Do Here Pool Weights Basketball Judo Aerobics.

Staple in the community. Staff like family. A place that I call home. Oh, and the senior citizen discount is worth every penny and more.

Alot of good modern equipment, weight room good size, multipurpose room under construction, small deep pool, cardio equipment, Computer lab, lockers, showers.

Nice indoor pool. Given that this is a public facility with all that entails, it is not bad at all

The fourth floor still needs some work...but the rest of building is good..brand new locker rooms it appears...i was a member like 7-8 years ago or so...weight room is good...pool is nice not as nice as chelseas but over all great place to workout ...again though i find the weight room the best...multiple weights and bench presses..

Yall alright its a relaxing spot to be at. The staff can be nicer though screaming is not necessary.

Cockroaches in the locker room!And to add insult to injury, the man at the desk and the attendant were incredibly rude and unfriendly.Why go here when the YMCA is a block and a half away - cleaner and nicer people!Steer clear of this place.
