Wonderful. Reservation process was easy. They were able to safely accommodate a party of 6. Great social distancing and safety measures being taken. Drinks and food are delicious. Lovely views, pricy but its Manhattan so if youre looking for cheap drinks -- you played yourself. Great Pregame spot!
I cannot say enough good things about the staff here! The moment we walked into the door till the moment we left, we were treated so well and the staff was so lively and welcoming. The drinks were phenomenal and the views were breathtaking. Try the cucumber smash & the Wagyu beef sliders, you wont regret it! Im visiting NY so it was my first visit and definitely wont be my last. If youre ever in NY, definitely check out this place!
Its been a little while since Ive been to PHD but heres a recap of past experiences:Last summer I got to PHD Terrace twice, and the two experiences were different at face value but similar in overall takeaways. The first time It was a hot weeknight, and I spent my time outside by the bar. The place was mobbed and it was difficult to get a drink. Drinks were good. Bartenders werent super friendly but they were swamped so it was understandable. I had a reservation and two managers were quick to open up a table for us; they were incredibly accommodating, I forget their names but both well groomed guys no older than 30. Olenka was our server and she was an absolute delight. She was super sweet, friendly, and genuinely interested in making a positive impact on our experience. We ate the sliders, mac and cheese balls and truffle fries; sliders and fries were the better choices. The second time it was a rainy night, so the entire outdoor portion was closed. A big section inside was reserved for a private party, so the space available was limited. Nonetheless I spent time at the bar and at a table. This time the bar service was attentive and accommodating, whereas the dining service was more forgettable. This time I ate sliders (awesome again), truffle fries (awesome again), and the PHD Catch (I forget the name but its a medley of fried seafood, also really tasty).PHD Terrace is a fun spot during the summer. If you catch it on a good night where its not super hot or super crowded, youll really enjoy it. Drinks arent cheap but theyre different than most drinks youre privy to in NYC. Food is solid upscale bar food and reasonably priced.
Love this place! Been to PHD a couple of times and love it every time. Julian is the best! Always super hospitable and really makes PHD worth going to! If you’re looking for a rooftop with good drinks, good food and a good time, PHD is definitely the place to go.
I showed up last night for my rooftop reservation for two. I showed the gentleman my confirmation email and he told me that I was actually supposed to be at the downtown location. I was so confused, because the email had the W55th St address. He said he would call the downtown PhD and let them know we were coming. Okay fine, we got back on train and went to the downtown location. We arrived and the gentleman there said, “No, you’re supposed to be at W55th. I don’t know why they sent you here. We’re completely booked up.” I’m a really patient person, but this runaround made me so mad. Fix your system! I should have had a reservation at one of these locations. Why was I turned away from both? Huge waste of time!
Best customer service experience Ive ever had at a bar as a normal customer. This place has some of the best COVID measures (masks for all employees, the workers call elevators for you, you are escorted to your seat, etc.) However, the overall customer service was delightful. Friendly waitresses and servers, but also a manager who was a gem to speak with and checked in on each table. Make sure to make a reservation. The scenery & atmosphere is gorgeous. Due to Cuomos law, we ordered the fries (tasty). The wild berry is refreshing like a mojito, but with vodka. Our 2nd round of drinks were well-vodkas and they were STRONG -- but when youre paying these prices, you appreciate it.
Great midtown rooftop. During covid, a nice intimate environment for drinks and meet ups. Fantastic staff but turn time for drink orders can be slow so make sure to get orders in early.
Really cool rooftop bar in midtown. All of the drinks we tried including the cucumber smash and the mega mule were very good. We ordered and tried every food item on the menu. Everything was delicious, especially the tuna poke chips and the chicken and biscuits. The staff were all very accommodating and attentive. Even though the place was packed, we never waited long to receive food, drinks, or assistance.
Great place to hang out! Very friendly staff. Flower hall a big plus, so pretty!
Gorgeous rooftop, drinks and food are on the expensive side ($18 for a cocktail). Good vibes, seems like most of the crowd come from midtown offices after work. So expect a lot of people in suits. They decorated the terrace with flowers all around (entrance, bar and hallway). They also have a DJ so the place is pretty happy. As for the menu, the fries were excellent. Enjoy your visit.
The waitresses are extremely rude there, went with a big group of people and you would think the service would be nicer since we are spending a lot of money. Drinks and Food were really good, a bit pricey but hey that is what you get for the area! Beautiful place but the service was unexceptional. Very disappointed with the service
Drinks were very overpriced at Ph-D lounge. I enjoyed the open air roof top more than the club. We went around midnight on a Saturday and the club space was a bit empty and uncomfortable without being full, but the actual roof top, connected by a few stairs to the club space, was comfortable despite the amount of people there. Once you go outside, there are actually two levels of the roof top. The second level featured different music and a different vibe than the first level. Expect a long line to get your ID checked, an additional security line, and then a line for the elevators.
I definitely liked the aesthetics of this place. If you like to take some nice pictures, you might like this place. Bartenders and staff were attentive and kind, drinks were creative and tasted good, prices were generally in line with other rooftop bars in the area, etc. I didnt give full 5 stars though since I came here during the day, and I havent experienced the night vibe yet. So without full picture didnt want to give 5 stars. One thing to note is I dont believe they allow shorts and sandals to be worn? They do have certain dress code (Heard it at first floor), so be wary.Overall pretty cool rooftop spot in Manhattan. Id swing by again.
They make a mean old fashioned and the views are absolutely stunning! Great DJ and perfect place to lounge and dance with friends. Was delighted by the fantastic food spread at a club like this. Great dishes. Loved that the booths had a place to stow away our bags so we could dance and have fun without worry.
I loved it! Its great for a date time with your friends.
A beautiful rooftop bar with lovely decorations.Seemed a bit high class and prestigious which is why we left pretty quick. No place to really relax as it was really full but I imagine it a fun time with a big group!
Beautiful rooftop and the best cocktails (the cucumber/gin combo is one of my fave in the city)! Love the views and the flower set up for spring/summer.
Rooftop had a beautiful view. Staff very nice. Food bites are great.
The PHD Terrace at Dream Midtown was just okay. From the reviews and from how it is advertised, I imagined it to be a peaceful and upscale lounge with a great atmosphere. This location has more of a club feel with the absence of people. Dont get me wrong - this place is great for those who are seeking a more upbeat lounge. We reserved the place for 7:00PM and we showed up just before that time. They accommodated us by showing us to our seats. We were immediately told that their internet is down so that they would have to write our credit card information down if we did not have cash. I opted for the cash option since that would give me the peace of mind.Because the lounge wasnt to our expectations we wrapped up our two drinks and were off on our merry way. For photos, this place is great! It was pretty and cute all around.
The place is so cute! the food was amazing the drinks were OK. Our waitress was really friendly and the music was good. my personal fav was the coconut shrimp. Would go again.
Great rooftop lounge. Nice atmosphere & friendly staff.
This place offers a great view and the ambiance is nice albeit loud. Unfortunately, that is where the shine wears off. The bartenders were unable to make drinks on the menu. One tried opening a candy cane to go on the rim of the drink with her teeth. She got frustrated and threw it away and added some other garnish. The drink was strong, but tasted terrible. Their sign is wishful thinking.
The PhD Terrace was the right amount of bougie. Plus, the customer service was outstanding. We popped a squat at the rooftop bar, which is winterized btw. It provided the perfect ambiance to stare loving into each others eyes lol. It also gave me the chance to do it for the gram! If youre looking to catch some photos, THIS IS IT! The rooftop level is a great space for a date night or a girls night out. There is also space on the second floor, which is where the DJ is set up. We didnt get a chance to check it out, because I was getting hangry. Just know the music was jumping!
Very nice place with a great view of times Square! One bartender seemed a little out of it, making us drinks different from what we ordered - but we werent too personally fussed.Nice instagrammable decor ️
Fantastic all the Way through. Read mixed reviews, but it was all put to shame. Service was great, everything was 5-Star
What a beautiful space! The highlight of course is the beautiful flower wall thats featured here but also the wonderful sights too. This rooftop has two bars both staffed with amiable and considerate bartenders. The floaters with foods and cheese are also very courteous! The drinks are very well made and the space as a whole is just outstanding. And of course, the PHD signature Dream neon lights are always fun to see.The bathrooms could use a bit of a touch up, especially lighting wise but still worth a visit.
This place does not have a DJ if thats that your looking for. However there is music and they play top 40s/mainstream dance music. As for the food, their menue consist of the typical sliders and fries bar style food for around $18 a dish. Your paying to hang out at a nice venue. The place looks nice. Had flowers and lights all around. Its a good lounge place. Dont expect a party atmosphere. This place is for when you wanna chill out and talk.
Reason: Went twice - Date night as F/F couple and friend nightPros:Pretty decorationsGreat Instagram/photo opportunitiesBeautiful viewRespectfulstaffGood mixed drinksCons:Drinks are way overpricedCrowd seemed unwelcomingMusic was not excitingFemale bathrooms EXTREMELY small/dark/unclean - can barely move and even fix your makeup(if needed)Overall: It was okay. Nothing more than that. I would go back again for the view but I wouldnt go here for an exciting night out.
The decor is fablous. The wait staff was also very attentiveOver all a great experience
Chill spot for drinks. I enjoy the quiet upstairs when it comes time to carry a conversation. Dow stairs is your dance party fun. Average $15 per mixed drink which is normal.
Their Tuesday Happy hours with free Italian food was great! good pizza and other appetizers. They took lots of pictures of us and told us they would be on the website. We have yet to get the photos even though we messaged them many times, and they have posted us on their social media. Not very good customer service when not in bar. The bar is super cool, has great views and cool drinks!
Great setting for group functions! Rooftop patio could accommodate pretty large groups, or they section it off for smaller groups. We were about 50 ppl and there was at least 1 other group of a similar size at the same time. Fully equipped bar right in the room with us, and apps passed by wait service. Mini lobster rolls were good, and teriyaki steak strips were outstanding!
Love this place, great environment and it’s always beautiful and a pleasant place to visit and to grab a drink and snacks with friends.
Pricey but everything was really good
Love this place ! Super cute and the rooftop is amazing !
Went with a group of people to the terrace upstairs. 5 tables unoccupied meanwhile the attendant is giving us a hard time about sitting there because they have “reservations” for those tables. We went to the bar for 30 minutes only to come back and find out that the tables were still unoccupied. After mentioning it to the attendant we were seated. We should have been seated 30 minutes earlier. Not the best service to say the least. Food and drinks were good, so at least that helped lessen the subpar service and treatment. Also worth noting that the service after we were seated was fine.
From the rooftop you can see the light of the billboards of Times Square. The staff is really kind. There are three terraces. The design of this place is beautiful.
Visited New York for New Years and decided to get tickets to this venue. The price was well worth it for the premium open bar, small appetizers, and location! The place is beautifully decorated and 3 different rooms with bars so ordering was quick. The dj was also in point! I will most definitely be back.
Came here with my friend around 1am Saturday night we were meeting up with girls who were already inside who got in for free no problem. Bouncer wanted $250 ($125 per person) from my friend and I minimum to spend at the bar. So, not the place for a younger male like myself. Not even like the place was packed or there was a line. I guess if you are a girl this might be a good spot. I wouldnt know, I heard $250 and walked away.
If you are looking for some delicious drinks while enjoying a beautiful view of Manhattan, go to this place, waitress was lovely to us
Ive been here several times and I still dont comprehend why people rave about this place. It doesnt matter what day you go there or what level you pick - its too loud to have a chat.View isnt the best one either.Drinks are fine but overpriced, huge unpleasant point is that all glassware is plastic.
Come for your instagram photo and bounce, that’s all this spot is good for. Had a reservation and sat around for over an hour before we saw a drink. They were so unprepared and understaffed for opening. The decor wowed us upon arrival and it went rapidly down hill from there. Don’t waste your time.
The views at night is incredible!
A must have photo in the flower tunnel is required for every instagrammer who stops by this hip bar located in Midtown Manhattan. In addition, the tunnel (one of many photo ops for the gram) at PHD Terrace in the Dream Hotel Midtown has just transitioned into winter. I saw happened to stop by for a cocktail after work — my favorite time to visit this bar. From phenomenal service to great cocktails and bar bites, you won’t be disappointed. I wasn’t. The wagyu beef sliders are great by the way!
I was extremely disappointed in PHD. I chose this venue to celebrate my 30th birthday. I got bottle service and reserved a table for my 20+ guests. Even though I ended up spending close to 3k, I was EXTREMELY disappointed. I couldn’t even get into the club! I had to wait on line even though i had a table and was the guest of honor. I was stuck on a coat check line just to get “stamped” to get in, which was completely unbelievable to me.What’s the point in reserving a table when you have to end up waiting just like everyone else? This place is ridiculuous and I would NEVER recommend it to someone who wants to do bottle service. My guests also had to wait and had issues getting in. Thanks for ruining what should’ve been a memorable and fun night.
Nice view from midtown. Good atmosphere and parties.
Dont know about the poor service others mention as I just got my drinks at the bar myself. I only had some imported bottled beer and thought price was reasonable. Wasnt crowded but not empty. This was last week, visiting the smaller space next to the south side patio and thought the area was a bit cozy.Views are definitely the selling points. As the floor is not crazy high, you still have good visibility to the streets. At the same time, taller buildings are all around you, giving you a feeling that you are really a part of Manhattan.
Excellent service, the stuff is very nice and the prices of the food and cocktails are good. I recommend to go Saturdays for the sunset Latin party. The DJ is really good and makes a great party. The DJ after 10 is not that good but sometimes has good songs.
Very nice terrace bar. Drinks and food were pricey, but we had a good time for a birthday party.
This place is okay ish. Won’t recommend it at all. We stand in the line for 30 minutes and we were at the front. Then we get to the elevator and waited another almost 30 minutes I been in the line now for 15 minutes. This is worst then checking in at the airport, went trough 3 security checks and was freezing cold. Not what I expected at this stage I just want to go home. But out of respect for me friend I will stay a minute.
We had reservations for dinnerWhen we arrived they put us in the lounge area & gave us bar snacksThinking they could cover for the fact that they messed up
This place was alright, a bit pricey and drinks were also a wallet crusher but vibe was nice.
Beautiful views and good drinks.
Cool rooftop bar with tasty drinks. Very pricey though. We went in the afternoon and did not have to dress up (polo shirt got me in the door) but I would expect at night it’s a strict dress code. Overall the views, drinks and vibes were worth us going up there for a few drinks.
Decent spot. The food and drinks are good. The service wasnt very good. Seems like they are understaffed. Ideal for a drink or two and an appetizer before a show/concert but is pretty pricey.
Very fun sunset party on Sundays! Beautiful crowd, pricey
The bartender was very good Gian i think, very friendly, helpful and made a killer ny sour whiskey. Loved tbe decor, the vibe, and ppl
Gorgeous place and great service!
Beautiful rooftop with amazing views. Expensive place about $100-$200 per person to get in unless youre going for an event. Great venue nonetheless.
The best of the best place where every Tuesday it is amazing joining for Aperitivo Tuesdays at 6:00 pm. A real Italian Aperitivo in New York City. real Italian bites of food, live music, and Aperol Spritz. Incredible.
Great place to hangout. Its covered during winter, so you can enjoy new Yorks skyline while being cozy with your drinks.
The decor was beautiful! We got there when they opened at 5 and the staff was welcoming and attentive. The drinks were tasty and strong. It was a bit chilly in some seats near the windows. But I would definitely recommend this spot!
Very expensive drinks, bad customer service and the rooftop does not have an impressive view
Just what you think it would be...a play land for the rich and those who want to be seen. It’s a fun place, if that’s your scene. They recently added a fun flower wall. Great rooftop for sunset views.
Nice atmosphere. But the portions of the food wasnt worth the money. I must admit while very small portions the steak kabobs were amazing. My husband also enjoyed his chicken and biscuits.
Great Place!! But, get ready to spend A LOT OF Money A beer is 10$ ...without tax and dont forget the tip...I could never get drunk with these prices
The waitress was so rude I would not go back. I tried to be nice to her. I told her Im not hitting on her. Its my birthday and she was being a beeep to all of us. And she continued to be rude. I hope youre experience is better
$6 soda water!! In a tiny scotch glass that was mostly ice?? that’s just mean. Also 2 little sliders for $14. You’d expect an amazing view or live music or something to justify the prices here but there isn’t. I feel like I just got robbed.
This is my favorite rooftop in New York City. Unbeatable views of midtown - east, west, north, south- including Times Square! They have the best cocktails and a really fun Tuesday happy hour party. Would definitely recommend for going on a date or bringing friends in from out of town. Perfect local spot for happy hour!
After reading reviews, my friends and I picked this place to celebrate Halloween. We are not picky people! This is my first time writing a review for anything. So here it goes........... The views are spectacular, but the DJ was not what we expected. They heavily promoted Latin night (Latin pop/ reggaeton). If you like to listen to a variety of GOOD music and actually party/ dance, AVOID this place. The DJ mainly played Latin pop (which we didn’t mind), but after 3 hours straight of the same type of music, we were ready for reggaeton. Just when we thought a song that we like would play, he managed to cut it off with his mixes. At one point he played the same song twice.Overall, we tried this place because we have never been here. We loved the views but not the DJ (maybe we went on the wrong night)We paid $50 for each ticket, which we thought was great deal, but in the end we did not get what we paid for.Ps. If you want a place where you can find nice views and listen to a variety of music, go to 230 fifth rooftop bar.
Very very very disrespectful staff. We make reservations for 3. We were seated in a side table for 2 with only 2 chairs. And they bring over a bar stool for my friend expecting her to sit towering over us not to mention I have no idea how shes supposed to eat with us. Also they told us the rooftop area is closed and we cant go there because it was booked. I feel like they shouldve told us that before hand. We decided to leave at this point, staff couldnt have cared less. No apologies given.
Always a great time, my second time here. Every age group so you dont feel out of place, great multi level club & the DJ was great! The top level patio bar has AMAZING views.....
Going there not the dirst time. This place gets worse and worse. Drinks are not acctual luquer that i asked for my friends felt really bad although their drinks coast min 20$ they are flat. Had to leave a deposit of 150$ they overcharged me twice the price. Forgot my card and id with the bartender. Now the dont respond and dont pick up the phone. Wont ever visit again
If you just got your age right for your first drink + money is not an issue (min 50$ entrance fee) - this is a place to go. Loud, crowded, semi-naked. However, if you are looking for a place to sit down and enjoy a cocktail and a bite, you are going to be disappointed. Go here to drink and dance. I mean, do it a lot.
Great views of midtown from a nicely furnished rooftop terrace.
Terrible terrible music, the DJ plugged in a phone and walked away from the booth multiple times, terrible crowd, small venue, quite overpriced, overall bad time. Definitely not a fan and I actively avoid this place like its the devil ️
This is a fantastic place to get a nice drink.
Loved this bar so pretty. Cucumber smash drink is delicious and refreshing.
I went there with friends for a birthday celebration. We each left there with credit card receipts that were apparently fake because the amount for which we signed was not the amount that was actually charged to our credit cards. I was charged over $200 more than what I signed. And when I tried to get the issue resolved I was given the run around by staff, no manager will speak to me, and I was even hung up on by one of the staff members. At first I was fine and chalked it up to some strange mistake and couldn’t imagine a big establishment such as this would steal from my friends and I. However, after the treatment that I have received and the blatant lack of service or anyone willing to resolve the $200 mistake i realize they have no intention on returning the money they took from me. I will deal with it myself through the bank and NEVER trust or recommend PHD Terrace. Pay at your own risk!
Pricey but great space. You pay for the location.
Def good for midtown area. Sweet views to impress your one night stand. Not sweet drink prices though. Way easier to get in that downtown PhD but downtown PhD better. This PhD feels more like a tight laberith bit in a good way.
This is a great place for B&T people watching, and the views are delightful, but its definitely overpriced with $18 cocktails.
I always love Phd! Phd midtown gives you the most beautiful cries of Manhattan!! There is a wonderful outside lounge and get your grove on with the awesome dj’s each week! The staff and security are wonderful and accommodating! I have been going to both downtown and midtown for quite some time! I recommend coming here and truly enjoy a wonderful experience that nyc has to offer!!
My family and I had a great time. Shirley was great in helping us book our table. The waitress was AMAZING and the clean staff ensured we always had a clean table and that we were always stocked with our juice, ice, etc. Will come back again!
Fun bar in the heart of midtown. Good cocktails served over a view of Times Square that warrants at least one more.
Really the place is awesome
Very cool roof top bar. Perfect view nice cocktails and food. Very special fkower tunnel. Amazing for afternoon chill or evening drink witg friends. Not expencieve. You need a trservation or you can just came in and wait ti he served. Summer at this terrace is awsome. Stuff is also very friendly. The mood light is very nice.
Place has a legit vibe and view but the whole “demand men spend 100 dollars just to enter” thing is beyond abhorrent. Not so much the $$ but the taking my credit card in an envelope along with my ID and not mentioning it to my drunken-self after doing so it is annoying at best. Also don’t make your most valuable clientele (not the fat ones in bad clothing) open a tab at the worst possible bar of your multiple bar tops. Make sure my ID is available tomorrow or I will throw a social media fit, like this, and beyond.
Relaxed atmosphere, not too crowded, staff was chill. Great views. Lots of instagrammable spots like the flower tunnel haha and kinda pricey drinks but a really nice rooftop overall
Amazing view, excellent crowd and really nice staff. Must go if visiting NYC.
This place has a Latin night on Saturdays from 6 pm to 10 pm and it’s so fun! Try to come with a promoter, otherwise it’s hard to get a seat. It’s a small place but it’s really well kept and nice. The music is very good during the Latin nights, I’m not sure about the other times. The only downside is that since it’s free for women but $50 for men, what usually ends up happening is that there’s a lot of old(er) dudes around, which is kind of a weird vibe since it’s mostly 20 year old women that go. I’ve never had an unpleasant experience with any of the men though!
The drinks where ok but a little too sweet ....(almost syrupy) with a small amount of alcohol. The think the view was the best part.
