Excellent service friendly bar tenders reasonable prices accessable to all transportation ..
My boyfriend and I love this place! Music is not loud, Teresa the bar tender is DA best of the best! and Manager, as well as the receptionist are super great! They always spoil us!
What a great place to spend an afternoon. We randomly stumbled upon this place and decided to go in and shoot some pool (billiards). The tables were very well maintained and the atmosphere of the place was really nice. In just observing others, there were a lot of great players. You pay per person by the hour and the rates do differ from weekday to weekend. Overall a great place to kill some time and sharpen some skills.
Amsterdam Billiards is a great place to grab a drink or some food and shoot a game of pool. Tons of space, clean, nice tables, as well as good food and drinks at decent prices. Friendly staff too. If youre looking for a place to have a game or three and hang out with friends this is a great choice.
They are closed unfortunately although information to the contrary. Hope they come back soon!!!
The wait may take away a bit of the charm and character of the former (many many years ago) Upper West Side haunt, but frankly, once you and your friends get your table youll forget all about the wait and be ready to rack em up and see there is a Willie Mosconi, Minnesota Fats, or even a Black Widow (Jeanette Lee - and she is amazing to watch!)Pool, years ago, was played in smokey, dimly lit halls, usually off the beaten path, and frequently with somewhat sketchy characters in and around the place. But this place, founded by brothers Greg and Ethan Hunt (no, not the Mission: Impossible character!) and comedian David Brenner back in 89 really set the bar for a place that was accessible to anyone with the desire to learn or play and the time to do it. They host numerous leagues of all skill levels, have many patient and skilled teachers available for lessons, and run a very tight ship in terms of getting people on a table. It can be a bit pricey, but if you like shooting a little stick, this is a great place to go.
I think I like playing pool here the most. I also like East Side Billiards but I have to admit that the tables are better at Amsterdam billiards. The cloth is smoother and the overall quality of the game is better if you care about your shots.
One of the great places to relax and chill with your buddies. You could even pick up some games of pool with others. They offer a wide range of games such as pool, darts, beer pong and table tennis but would have to pay extra. The bar and drinks in general are great, but most of all, the place is spacey!
If you are ever in Manhattan. You need to stop into this place. The staff, the atmosphere, and the drinks and food are all great. I come here everytime I am in New York City. My favorite place in NY.
A good place to go for some billiards with some friends. Seems like they have events too. I was a bit surprised by the older crowd but I suspect it had to do with what was going on. Seemed like a lot of regulars there. Equipment is in decent shape too. Very big place. Biggest con is price. Pool was very expensive as were the drinks—even by manhattan standards.
I love this place for a nice moment with the friends to do something a tad different. I love their pool and ping pong space! There are various levels of players in the establishment, so be sure not to play for money! Lol
The servers are b-u-s-y, so be sure to take advantage of their attention when they are able to speak with you. The drinks are overpriced and the food selection is *very* overpriced, but it is a pool hall after all, so how else will they stay in business. Overall if you have a healthy enough paycheck to afford to play, there’s really no competition so Amsterdam wins by default.
Fun place with billiards, ping pong, and giant Jenga (and maybe some stuff I missed). We had a great server who remembered drinks even though we were a big group. Definitely will go back.
They have a large number of tables and serve all kinds of drinks. The quality of tables is quite good and we had a lot of fun.Weekends can be very busy and we had to wait for an hour to even get drinks.
Im a big fan of Amsterdam Billiards Club! Its the definition of a dive bar... very relaxed and chill atmosphere. It doesnt look like theyve changed the decor in 50 years, but it works. They always have a variety of good beers on tap and the bartenders are pleasant. If you are in the area and youre looking to unwind, socialize, and drink good beer, check out Amsterdam Billiards Club.
We visited on Saturday night from 7 to about 10ish. Good place, well maintained, clean, quite crowd. Everyone pretty much interested in playing pool, no fooling around. They have plenty of tables. $15 per person per hour. Min 1 hour, after hour they can count per min (based on the same $15 per hour). Drinks selection is so so, but acceptable for this place since its to play pool really.
Always a pleasure when coming here, I use to come before they upgraded and then upgrades are awesome and welcomed, this is gonna be my go to for pool when Im the city again
This place is totally awesome, the drinks are amazing. Its a pretty chill crowd, great atmosphere and well kept up. And the prices here are very reasonable to shoot some pool.
Equipment is in excellent condition. Staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and proffesional. Food, drink, and table time are all expensive.
Huge drink selection not to mention pool tables, darts and a great comfortable environment. Bathrooms are clean, staff is present and attentive. Good place to wait for your Ippudo reservation to hit! Check it out.
Me and 3 of my friends went today for billiards, my friend mentioned that there is going to be only 3 of them playing, so it was understood that the 4th person is not going to play, but at the end even after mentioning he charged us for 4 of us.That was very disappointing, I would definitely recommend others that if you are not playing make sure the person who is at the counter should write it down somewhere, because he tends to forget. We just felt that we were cheated!
Super friendly and great place to hang out and play pool. The staff is super friendly and the drinks are actually very good especially considering the prices. Theres more than enough tables that you dont have to wait and youre guaranteed to enjoy yourself. The atmosphere is very relaxed and theres no pressure and nobody gets in the way of each other while theyre playing pool. Highly recommend a good place to relax.
I recently came here with a friend to play some pool late at night. We were told it would be a 45 minute wait before we got a table, which was fine because there were plenty of places to sit down and chill. The tables were in great shape, and everything was in good working order. We had a great time and would definitely come back.
The best pool house in the city. They have a quality service and decorations. You can always see a pro player. They also a league for amateurs.
Lots of nice pool tables. No pressure. Super fun!
GREAT pool hall. They play good music and theres prompt friendly service!
Very relaxed atmosphere. Excellent for grabbing a drink to catch up with a friend as its not too loud to hear each other, but sufficiently busy that you dont feel youll be overheard.Small caveat might be hard to get a table for every long if you go there in league night, but the bar is still a good spot to hang out.
Love this spot. Friendly staff. Beautiful bar. Dozens of tables, a they offer beer pong and darts. I wish the prices for pool were cheaper but thats just Manhattan for you. Still worth a visit!
The service here was really good, the tables were maintained well, and they let us order food from outside places they had established relationships with. The prices werent too expensive and the environment was really nice. This is our new pool spot.
The atmosphere is fun but was surprised to find that even though the entire bar was empty at a non peak time they were charging $12 per person per hour to play... So instead of staying for 2 hours to play and buying many drinks, we left after only one drink and no games... Business model seems a little off?
One of the most well maintained pool halls Ive ever been to.
Great place to play pool. Great place to practice pool. Great tables and average cues.
Good spot to play pool. Afforable.
This is one of the best pool halls in NYC. I got no pictures but this place is clean and arranged nicely. Its in the middle of a night life area also. Their bar is great too. Free to play darts. They have a foosball table and TVs showing sports.
Top-tier pool room with great atmosphere.
Clean place. Fast service, good atmosphere and attentive staff. Would definitely come again
Considering it was a Saturday night and it was packed. The service was on point!!! We were able to get a table within 20 minutes. Be mindful people play for hours! The drinks are nice and strong. Wanna have a little fun get a round of shots (Illegal Mezcal)!
This place is legendary and I won the darts game like twice its good for hangouts and fun for everyone
Very cool place to hang out and shoot pool. The hostess is an Asian woman who was very sweet to us and makes you feel very welcome. The waitress service is great. They have a full bar and it is a very large billiards hall. Price for playing an hour of pool is great for the city. Nice friendly environment. I took my 11 year old son and his friend and they had a lot of fun. No pool hustlers here, lol!
They take advantage if you’re drunk. I had an “open tab”, but they closed it on their account. They forged our signature and gave themselves their own tip. We never received our receipt. After we tried to sign for our account they told us we had already “signed” even though we hadn’t.
Best place to play pool in Manhattan for a reasonable price (Manhattan-adjusted)
Fun place to be with friends. Staff is amazing. They treated me like family. Definitely will be going back!
So many pool tables, awesome atmosphere and you can play darts too!
A quiet and unassuming place with excellent quality tables and service. Decent drinks at the bar too.
This is probably the best place to play pool in Manhattan whether you want to sharpen your skills, spend time with your significant other or to have a fun night with your buddies.... Its big and very dynamic. Full bar and great service are definitely a very nice addition to the pool experience. Sometimes its hard to get a table in the evening, probably because the place is super popular, but still Id definitely recommend to anybody.
Nice table, wouldnt mind playing league here #erusproductions
Amazing tables, the service could be better. Overall a great place to have an event or just hang with friends. Also, bring a lot of money.
Love this place. Learned a new game and had a blast practicing.
Bartender very rude. Doormen were really awesome though. Place is nice, good drinks
Great atmosphere. Lots of pool tables and the bar looked fully stocked. Great place to relax and play pool.
My home away from home! One of the few classy pool halls left in NYC that doesn’t feel like a nightclub where you can’t even hear yourself speak. At ABC, you can shoot a mean game of pool, play darts and beer pong by the bar, enjoy your favorite libations or try a creative cocktail from the talented and beautiful mixologists, or just throw a great company party. Yes, there is often a wait for a table because the vibe here is just that chill. The food here is catered so be ready to order ASAP upon arrival if you’re walking in hungry. Staff is ok. Bartenders at the bar are so so. However the ladies that serve drinks to the tables are quite polite and friendly. Some of the staff issuing the pool tables are not as friendly. This place was a 3/weekly visit . On twice of visits there were competitions going on which is understandable however the inconsistency of the staff for estimated time were off. Found a better place in BK with better drinks and tables. Need some service recover Amsterdam.. you lose customers this way.
Good prices on pool tables. I only stayed a little over an hour. My lady friend and I had a blast. The server was friendly and courteous. The drinks were ok a bit pricey but not too bad. I would come here again with more friends. This place seems more fit for large groups than couples.
We decided to visit last night my husband and I, and we were looking forward to a game of pool and a couple of drinks after our busy doing tourist stuff day. We were shocked that they tried to charge us $60 dollars for the hour, seriously is that for real absolutely ridiculous, when you can pay €2 per game at home. Needless to say we didn’t play, it was bad enough that we paid $30 for 2 drinks. I know we are in NYC but this is day light robbery.
Huge pool hall with solid tables and good quality sticks. The staff is reliable with drink orders and the fees are pretty reasonable (we played about 9 games for around $60. I booked a table during league night by showing up a couple hours early and putting my name in and left. This worked and I was able to get right on when I came back. Seems tedious but if you have to wait all night to play youll go crazy, better to see what demand is like in advance.
My go to billiards place, very vintage feel
Good pool tables, good vibes.
Great vibes, less noisy than the average bar, makes for much easier conversation. Staff serving the pool tables is quite inconsistent. Ended up getting drinks ourselves.
Good vibes, not too expensive, fun!
Clean. Well maintained. Bartenders are friendly.
Probably the nicest pool hall I’ve been to in my life. Lots of wood, nice bar, waitress was VERY nice and considerate, took good care. Tables in above average condition, balls polished! Music got a little yuppy. Little pricey for the table. Really polite staff. Love the Amsterdam!
Very good spot to play! The place is huge! They have about 25 tables that can be converted into ping pong tables.
I am not a pool player, so I cant speak to the quality of the tables. I can say that the beer was cold, the staff was friendly, and the service was excellent. Apparently, it takes a long long long time to get food, so if you want it, order immediately. Its convenient to Union Square, but if you are reading this, you probably already know that.
Cool place to hang out with friends and have a drink. If you really love playing pool then I think this is a great spot for a date or a round of competitive fun.
Tough on fake IDs. Overall good billiards, fun times. $3 chips definitely worth it.
I had a wonderful time during my organizations event.
Good crowd here and perfect pool tables. The atmosphere is also very classy compare to most poll halls.
Still standing- I knew this place as Corner billiards -appropriate with its geographic location. Management is much better now though place looks nicer and prices are still decent. Added plus -its open in the afternoon so you can play casual games in a virtually empty pool hall, and hear some good tunes
Great place to relax have a few beers and shoot some pool. Lots of tables, no one bothers you and at least when we went wasnt loud, so we carried conversations easily. Would like to come back
A little $$$, very nice place though and staff was great.
Its in a quiet and secluded part of the city with an inviting atmosphere.
Certainly one of the best pool hall in NYC. With more than 20 professional billiard tables, dart games, and an overall smooth vibe, both experts and amateurs can go and play there. Although the hourly rates for the tables are higher than other pool hall or bars, its worth the difference of quality. However, the personel tends to monitor the customers too closely,
Good place to shoot pool for a little while..13 and chance per hour per person
Amazing environment to shoot pool
Great place to entertain.
The environment was awesome, but our mixed drinks were just juice with a splash of liquor...a TOUCH of liquor!
This place is awesome. So chill, great drinks, and they often have pro tournaments on the weekends.
Over 30 tables, large bar, pretty good staff. Tables are clean for the most part and the drinks are fairly strong.
If you dont play Billiard, nothing terrific here...
One of the oldest and best pool places in the city. 20+ tables, great vibes, everything in great condition. A great spot for all fans of the game
Been here many times and one of my favorite places to shoot pool in the city.
I guess maybe I just didnt enjoy the experience
Cool mellow place in a nice spot in the city. Wouldnt recommend to take your date here if shes not into billiards. Overall, good service, go environment!
