The doors were shut and locked but there were little windows we could see through. The place is super cute and small. Its the size of a closet but the pieces were interesting.
Pound per pound, the best museum I have ever seen. Jaw dropping exhibits stored in a space smaller than many closets. Worth seeking out and enjoying for a short visit. In this case, quantity is not needed to present quality, thought-provoking exhibits.
Hyped tiny museum. But way better than expected. So many tiny details that go into this little space.Well worth a visit. Its also free, so just go here. You just must now you have no option.Otherwise you will miss this fantastic place.
This is such a unique endeavor! Its the smallest museum in NYC and is made up of two parts: Mmuseumm 1 which is the inside of an elevator shaft, and Mmuseumm 2 which is a 20 sq ft space visible through a window display. Its a well-curated space that you can devote as little or as much time as you want to, but its definitely worth the trek out here.
Greatly curated items packed into such a tiny location. Super original! Through the objects on display and aided by the thoughtful descriptions, you can picture a whole life, a whole history. This isn’t a whole day at the museum experience so plan other things if you’re making a special trip downtown (we went to the MOCA afterwards) but its impact lingers with you. The guy working there was super nice, helpful and informative. The collection changes periodically so we’ll be visiting again soon!
Excellent little museum that packs a punch. The displays have a little edge of sarcasm, surrealism, and depth. They cut right through the undiscussed bias and show reality of things that matter that you didn’t yet know matter. Really worth a visit.
Quirky, charming mini museum with changing exhibits on objects collected around timely themes (topics for 2019 include objects carried by police shooting victims, ISIS currency, Venezuelan ripoffs of US consumer brand products).
A amazing tiny gallery only open at the weekend. Go in for free or give a donation to receive a poster with an image of every item in the museum. This objects are really fascinating from a used tissue of Kim Jong Un’s to a collection of bread clips. A nice touch is also that up get greeted on arrival and introduced to the collection. Gift shop is also available!
This was a serendipitous find for me when I was wandering around Tribeca. Apparently, this is the smallest museum in New York City has been around for several years during the warmer months. I think I was told from April until October. Each shelf in the walk-in closet size space holds a different tiny, but powerful exhibit. For example, the receipts from last meals of death row inmates. Another was replicas of ISIS currency that the founder created from photos he found on the darknet. A particularly heartbreaking exhibit included items held by people of color when they were gunned down and killed by the police with their photos and how many bullets were shot. The docent is sitting on the chair outside the museum was very thorough in explaining the details of the exhibitions. Down the street theres a little tiny gift store as well. This is totally worth checking out.
Amazing little museum, very thoughtfully composed. Interesting subject matter.
Hard to find, but worth a look. Interesting use of objects to tell stories.
Much, much smaller space than I anticipated but the objects and idea behind the space is fabulous
Unique, impactful and obscure displays.Very thought provoking .
Super interesting exhibits, definitely worth checking out
Got dragged here by 2 friends. Definitely worth the trouble!
Great hidden gem in one of Manhattans few remaining alleys.
Great Museum. It is small but really helpful.
Amazed at how much interesting stuff they can fit into such a small space and the attendant was very friendly and informative.
Have to walk through multiple shady alleys to get to it
Brilliant. The museum as art object, sure, but the exhibits are no slouch themselves. A moving humanitarian document.
Although the museum is small, you can spend some time here. Fantastic idea. I like this place very much.
Intersting little museum near Chinatown. Its a pretty quick visit (maybe 10 minutes) but what they have is pretty atypical for a museum. Its a free exhibit, so theres not much of a reason not to check it out if youre in the area. Definitely the smallest museum Ive been in.
A tiny one room (really an elevator shaft) rotating exhibit of seemingly pretty random things but has a unifying theme. You can boast about finding this hidden gem in an unassuming alley on the outskirts of Chinatown but what you get out of it will certainly depend on whats on display at the moment. A quirky yet unique idea that is very particular to NYC.
Interesting place for sure! Didnt get to physically go in but from the door was good enough!
Peeping through the window into the fascinating collections of Mmuseumm
Such a cute little museum with more content than meets the eye if you listen to the audio guide. I enjoyed it!
Surprising little find. Eclectic collection
Best museum you can find in New York.
One of the worlds smallest museums, it showcases Object Journalism - stories about objects collected across the globe. Its difficult to understand what the point is, but the novelty of the museum and the collection of stuff is worth stopping by to see.
Fascinating collection of stories and oddities. I highly recommend using your phone to listen to the objects audio recordings (each has a unique extension you can quickly switch between - bring headphones!)
The best museum in NYC. Seriously. If the curator, Alex, is there -- say hi! Hes super friendly and always has great things to say.
The Met was overwhelming. This place is bite-sized. Check it out!
Theres a display of categorized cornflakes. And all sorts of other odd items. Would recommend.
Pretty random find. Stumbled across this one. Definitely fun to check out. And its free!
The smallest museum ever but nice!
Just a fun little museum, sassy too. Worth the walk
The smallest museum in NYC!
Awesome
So many quirky artifacts curated in such a small space. Worth a stop if youre nearby
The location, the space, the exhibitions, everything about this mmuseumm challenges the definition of your typical Museum. Almost like a secret, an art installation, the exhibitions makes you think more than just absorb particular information from a regular museum. Dont miss the Cafe and the gift store!
Bad experience I have no connection
Really fun and interesting tiny museum. The Mmuseumm can be viewed on closed hours through small holes in the door. A phone based audio guide is available.
Great collection of weird stuff
You have done alllll the museums. You are tired of high culture or broadway or (ho hum) shopping.... come to the MMuseuMM!Small small small - filled with ...well interesting, historical, and whacky artifacts!Bring earbuds so you can listen to the well made audio tour.NOTE: you can also see it 24/7 through the window.ALSO - while free - why not donate that requested $5! I mean - come on!
Cute place.
This is one totally awesome and unique museum, you should not miss seeing this one.
I was feeling sick, I stopped by here, after I was still sick but I liked the things
Small spot but great collection
Free whimsical mini-museum worth a peak. Usually closed winter nov to feb.
The weirdest, but cutest museum
Not a museam just junk in a case
Easy to miss museum holed in an alley bursting with obscurity and intrigue.
Really fun little museum
Pay no attention to the girl sitting across the street. Shes not an exhibit, just an employee.
Sketchy asf not even open until like next year
Wonderful place to visit around
Awesome place
Timmy museum
Free entry and kind to tourist.
Its alright I say
Quirky.
Nice
It is a tiny place that is hard to find. It is located in an alley with little foot traffic. Things in there are every day objects.
Nice place to go
A little on the hard side to find but worth walking over to check out.
Worthwhile
Casey Neistat is cool!!!
Its weird.
During the winter time entrance by appointments ONLY!
