The capacious Fletcher-Sinclair Mansion, with its prestigious address and unique architectural style, was purchased in 1955 by the Ukrainian Insitute of America corporation with the charitable generosity and support of Mr. William Dzus, inventor, philanthropist who founded the Ukrainian Institute of America, Inc. in 1948.The Ukrainian Institute of America promoting, through educational, professional and social activities, a greater awareness, knowledge and appreciation of Ukraine’s and Ukrainians’ rich culture, history and accomplishments. The building is designated as a National Historic Landmark and protected as a contributing element of the New York Metropolitan Museum Historic District.
Despite awkward initial reception, the event itself was well planned and very warm atmosphere. We went to the Christmas celebration event. Very well done indeed. Building inside looks like Downton Abbey. :) Lots of character in Victorian architectural details. Probably a pain to maintain this place, because of it very generous size. Lots of salons and recreational areas.
Went here for a beautiful classical collection. Old fashioned. Very pretty. Definitely would go see another show. Did not find seats comfortable though
Very Cordial, Comfortable Atmosphere. Courteous Staff. Very Tasty Appetizers, Food & Drink. All Portions Unbelievably Generous.
It is a beautiful place in front of Central Park on East 79th Street. MrCat.biz
Just gorgeous...like being transported to another time
Small, uncrowded exhibit of Ukrainian history, art and other culture, in an historic NYC mansion near Central Park. $6/adult, less for students and children. 1st floor: 1 room with summary of history and culture, including nice, large interactive touchscreen. Up the grand staircase to floors 2-4 for paintings and sculpture, both very modern and slightly older.
They politely ask for a personal contribution at the front door. There are four floors of magnificent beautiful Ukrainian and Russian artwork. Go Monday through Thursday, and there will be six or eight people in the entire building. Recommend it very highly.
Very historical place. With wonderfull people.
One of a kind historic landmark buildings on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, with a great selection of Ukrainian art. Magnificent. Brilliant. Splendid.
Beautiful building. Nice historical exhibits about the building and Ukrainians in the US in addition to housing a permanent Archipenko exhibit. Theres always a rotating exhibit of art. They are all worth going to see. A quiet oasis in the middle of Manhattan.
If youre interested in the Czech Republic its a nice visit. Can get all kinds of good information. The theater shows a nice short film about the country.
Visited there for New Yorks open house weekend. The house has been restored to its original Beauty. Normally it is used as an art gallery to show off Ukrainian artist. If you get an opportunity to get into this property dont miss the chance.

Absolutely a great location for receptions, parties any kind of special event. The architectural detail and workmanship are exceptional. If its open for a public event be sure and take advantage. The building and the Institute are true gems of New York Citys Museum Mile.
