This is another very NYC icon! I went during the week at Noon. They did a great job of making sure they checked your temperature, wearing appropriate masks and provided sanitizer. It was very quiet but I noticed it started to get busy in the afternoon. There is nowhere to eat inside. Maybe why people were not there at that time. This is a wonderful museum for modern art! Tons of artwork to enjoy! I highly recommend this place when visiting or for locals! It’s free for the month of September!
So this was a mostly great experience. In terms of the art, it was great. So many one of kind art work on display. It has enough to make it unique and make it stand out from all the other museums in the city.So why not 5 stars? The people. I’m not talking about the staff. They were friendly and very helpful but there was way too many people. It was hard to stay away from people and I know that’s why we wear masks but I just saw too many people take off the masks, and yes the staff was there right away, but it just left me feeling a bit uneasy. I think I’d go during the week when crowds would be smaller
This is an enormous museum with beautiful views! There are 5 floors if endless modern art to admire. This is a great place to spend the day if you have time. They offer discounts for students as well and the ability to purchase tickets via the kiosk
The MoMa is one of my favorite places in the world. Do you want to understand the true beauty of Starry Night ? Where else than to really gaze into those strokes and let it take you there.Home of other great works of surrealism and ever changing exhibits. Currently in the pandemic time slots are reserved online due to limited capacity. Additionally not all exhibits are open to the public ( Including Monets Lilys, my favorite. )Great for most occasions
I have always loved this museum; it is quite possibly my favorite museum in the world. And the new MoMA is wonderful. With the timed entry and diminished capacity, it actually added to the experience. The rooms felt open and empty so I could enjoy the art (I only had to wait for one couple before seeing Starry Night, which usually had a crowd 6 deep huddled before it! ) I also appreciated all the new art from their collection, many works I had never seen before. And the greater representation of female and minority artists was also very appreciated as it provided different viewpoints and insights to the art world than I had previously been exposed to.Finally, for me, one of the highlights was the audio feature on their website. There was no need to rent a listening device as you could use your own cell phone. And the short commentary for many of the works of art added wonderful insight, often from the artists themselves, their relatives, or their contemporaries. This special touch truly brought so much of the art to life.
Amazing works of art. Felt very safe visiting. They check temperatures at the entrance and they are very diligent about making sure everyone is wearing a mask.
The MoMA has reopened last Thursday, August 27th. They have implemented a new screening system at the entrance. As all NYC museums a mandatory 25% capacity is in place. The Judd exhibit is stunning. Until September 28th, 2020, you can only book online for free tickets. You cannot have an excuse!!
Best to visit on a weekday (Monday-Thursday) since it is not as packed! Due to COVID-19, there is also a limited capacity rule and if you like to have your space avoid on a weekend. The museum is kept very clean with many sanitizing stations and 6ft physical distancing is enforced. It’s easy to navigate around and find your favorite art pieces here.
Yes, its MoMA. Yes, were currently in the midst of a raging pandemic. But, theyre open (with the now-usual restrictions). And, yes, you want to go there, and you *should*, because its good for your head, and your support is good for them (contrary to popular belief, their pockets, while clearly deeper than yours or mine, arent bottomless). Highly (and always) recommended.
Great museum located about 5 blocks from Central Park. Plan to spend several hours there. Definitely bring headphones so you can scan the codes to hear more about certain works of art.
When the museum open in pandemic, that is the best time to visit because only few visitors around you. So you can enjoy the amazing exhibitions.
Due to Covid instituting a reduction in the number of visitors, the experience of visiting MoMA is greatly enhanced. Where before their would be large crowds in front of Starry Night, now there are times no one is standing in front of that famous painting. Be forewarned the gallery with Water lilies is presently closed.Likewise, no museum restaurants are open.
Great experience, scheduled visiys only with very limited capacity makes this a truly rare opportunity to visit without any crowds. Bonus is being able to take picture of the art without pesky humans in the shot
Really good museum. It’s very well curated and architecturally beautiful. They have many collections featuring very impressive works by many artists and also very often have temporal exhibits of various topics. If you go in the morning there’s no much a crowd and you get to enjoy all the art in peace. The gift shop is pretty amazing, they have everything from art books to tote bags and furniture. It’s definitely worth a visit, though there’s no way to see all of it in just one day so you’ll have to come back!!
MoMA is always a great museum to visit, especially after they’ve expanded. You can only enter through the 53rd st entrance, bc they do temperature checks (can still exit from both 53 and 54). Went on a Wednesday afternoon and was surprised with how “crowded” it was. Also note that the cafe is closed.Went mainly for the JUDD exhibit, which didn’t disappoint
Plenty of art that I love to hate -- a giant red rectangle, seemingly random black squiggles on white, large metal blocks. But theres also currently the life, times, writings and art collection of an anarchist patron of some neo-impressionists -- Seurat, Matisse, and others. And some slice-of-life old short films.
Too much for one day! New hanging of art is odd. Some awesome paintings hung very high? Water Lilies room too small seems sent to the corner. Some great abstract and some bad. Fingernail clippings?!
Clean and organized, lots of famous works and many stunning displays, even the kids liked it. Great gift shop too, dont forget to check out the MOMA Design Store across the street.
It’s just the best art. Loved the old photography collection. Beautiful, clean, massive. Friendly staff. Amazing collections.
The Judd exhibit was fabulous, Broken Nature not so much. Great time to go because of reduced crowds, but some of the most popular exhibits with well known artists were too crowded for the current time. I think it would help to limit the number of people in the rooms, not just the museum
Very nice and cool thing to experience during Covid. I would definitely recommend.
Great museum! I spent here 3 hours enjoying the art. It a great pleasure to see originals, especially very big size ones, completely different emotions.
Really good museum. It’s very well curated and architecturally beautiful. They have many collections featuring very impressive works by many artists and also very often have temporal exhibits of various topics.
Amazing place so many classics masterpieces you need an entire afternoon to enjoy.
Probably my favorite in the museum category of NYC. They have a meandering layout that you can walk through... although some of our party had trouble finding specific locations or areas so it may be best to just stroll through. It takes about 3 hours to get through the exhibits. Even the free, public exhibits are amazing! Some fun and interactive exhibits, art installations that make you feel both large and small. It’s a great place.
Loved this place to see new things from retro crafts, science and advance technologies.
It was great being able to visit a museum during such a strange year. I was fortunate enough to snag some of the free tickets that were being offered for Fridays in September. I had no idea there were Picassos on display! So much beauty to observe. I hope I get to visit again soon
I knew that MoMA housed a lot of famous works of art, but there were so many more i wasn’t expecting to see there. Had to rush through because i was short on time, but could easily spend a whole day there, taking it all in. I was also surprised at the scale of some of the art. When seeing them without context, you have no idea just how large or small they are. It seemed like there were docents at the entrance/exit to every room, and they were helpful when trying to figure out where certain works of art were located and how to get there. Will definitely go back again and again!
I hope this museum returns to what it was. There were many salons either empty or under construction. This visit was a letdown. I know everyone likes to blame a virus when they can but there is no shortage of great art in this world.
Just re-opened de the pandemic. You need to reserve-purchase your tickets online beforehand. The museum is awesome as one could expect. Not much to add here.
Free until the end of September 2020. Reserve a ticket online. Barely anyone right now. Coffee shop not open. Museum stores are open. So wonderful to see amazing galleries and such an amount of collections. I feel rejuvenated and inspired.
I want during the Pablo Picasso phase and thought it was an interesting presentation and gallery. The MoMa is a wonderful gallery, though I thought it would be bigger, but it is just a few fews, but you can kill tons of time if you stop and enjoy each piece and read everything. If your not into art seriously, then you can probably bang this out in 30 minutes. It has quite a diverse collection and themes, though I cant explain everything as you must go yourself. But it is very spacious compared to others, leaving more than enough room to explore and walk around without getting bumped into. I would recommend it to anyone coming out for a visit in NYC. The shop is also fun to shop by.
LOVE MOMA - always clean and beautiful art and layout. Ive been here twice and plan on going again. Prices arent too bad for entry but parking is pretty expensive in that area. Recommend!
This appears really cool in photos but it is much smaller in person. Still quite mesmerizing though when you get yourself in between posts. Also you can park for free after 7PM so you might wanna do that to avoid paying a ridiculous amount at their basement parking. Theres also street parking but really is a challenge!
I enjoyed my visit to this museum after multiple attempts to visit on previous trips to NYC.
It surprised me how much I loved this museum. The paintings on display are massive. You can see close up the energy and motion in the painting themselves, and amazing textures. Many world renowned painters featured here. I enjoyed the tour from start to finish.
This is my first time visit The MOMA. And it was great! All of the collections were from kind donators and reknowned artists! *Wearing the masks and staying social distance!
Amazing day out. Such mastery in one building. Its amazing to see all this amazing art work in one place. It was stunning.
The usual collection was there as usually, it currently has somewhat good temporary exhibitions! Also, having to prebook your tickets is great during the pandemic - it’s preventing over crowding!
Absolutely stunning works of art!
Fantastic art museum which is a must visit when in NYC! We always enjoy our visits at MoMA. There are so many great collections throughout the museum to explore.
I love this stop on my wanders around the City. The Judd exhibit is amazing and I spotted a Mark Rothko painting that stopped me in my tracks. Always something to appreciate.
Looking forward to when MOMA reopens. Miss this incredible museum. The installations are staged brilliantly. The permanent collection is so well curated. Navigating the exhibition galleries is always effortless and the pace is to ones own rhythm. And of course, the terrace dining is special...soon to open its doors again, I hope...
So this was a mostly great experience. Amazing works of art. Felt very safe visiting.
Always a great experience and even with enhanced entrance protocol in place because of COVID it was still wonderful! The staff are amazing and it feels like even more art has been placed in public viewing rotation. Check it out!
Very inspiring and interesting art on 5 floors. You can easily spend a few hours here. Entry fee is a bit expensive (25$, Feb 2020) but still acceptable for one of the most visited museums of New York City.
Very well equipped museum. Large collection of paintings from Picasso and Matisse. There is a lot of variety. Easy to get around. Ask for a map at the front desk if not given one.
It is an astounding and outstanding place. the remodeling was magnificent. The exhibits amazing. And theyre keeping the numbers low so it was a pleasure to be there.
My first visit post renovations. Highly recommend a visit there to take in all the changes. It was crowded, but not as crowded as it generally is on the free day on Fridays.Use the coat- heck service. It’s phenomenal. Your claim check k number is your telephone number. I loved all the exhibits. I didn’t get to see my favorite old master “starry night” but love the new exhibits featuring diverse artists. Fascinating. MOMA is an oasis in NYC. Should definitely be on your list of places to visit. The sculpture garden wasn’t open the day I went due to inclement weather. I plan to go back again soon. Like most museums, you can’t take it all in in one visit. Pace yourself and bring water. If you get hungry, there are places to eat there.
Highly recommend getting the membership if you live in New York! It’s $90 for a year (if you sign up for auto-renewal of your membership) while a regular adult ticket is $25. The members are allowed to bring guests who only have to pay $5 and have access to exclusive coat check (which now tags your items to your phone number so you don’t have to worry about losing the paper/plastic numbered sheets.) The revamped museum is worth a visit - it definitely feels a lot more spacious. The new gift shop looks cool from the outside because pedestrians can look down at the shop through the large glass windows. Looking forward to revisiting!
I really enjoyed my visit. The tickets are affordable and if youre a student you can show them your student ID for a discount. Not only do you get entrance for MoMa but they also give you a pass to another museum that is linked with them to go visit. There is a lot to see.
The museum that made me fall in love with modern art. A must for all modern art lovers! Don’t miss out on the daily educational free tours that you can check at the information counter. They have a great on site museum restaurant, check it out after finishing your visit.
Beautiful museum with a lot of pieces. Multiple visits are recommended to see it all, but if youll still enjoy yourself with one. A tonne of famous pieces are here. Make sure you dont miss out on Starry night
You can easily spend 3 hours in this museum. The cafes are currently closed so eat beforehand. You can sit and relax in the courtyard area. When you enter, they have a camera to take your temperature.
I THOROUGHLY ENJOYED THE COURSERA OFFERING FASHION AS DESIGN. I DISCOVERED THE PAST IS THE FUTURE, WHEN IT COMES TO STYLE. DESIGN CAN BE BOTH TIMELY AND TIMELESS. ICONIC FASHION BECOMES CONVENTIONAL STYLE. THE VIDEOS INCLUDED A VERY DIVERSE SELECTION OF TOPICS. I NOW REALIZE THAT E-COMMERCE MAKES OUR GLOBAL WORLD FEEL LIKE AN AUTHENTIC COMMUNITY. RESOURCES AND TALENT COINCIDE WITH THE FASHIONS OF OUR TIME.
Amazing to have it back. I loved finding new gems in familiar rooms, works of art that have been added to a curated set that we had already come to love. All of the that, and it was almost empty.
Bought this amazzing looking Fellow Kettle at the MOMA store. It is so nice that it is the only item allowed to stay on the counter perminently in our London Minimum home. Thier products are a must have.
You dont need me to tell you that this is one of the best museums in the world. Stunning, diverse collections with tons of art from different people, eras, and walks of life. Very rarely will you see two works from the same artist, unless its Picasso (ha!) or a special exhibit. We got lost in this museum all day and couldnt cover all of it, still scrambling to see exhibits all the way down to closing time. It is so rich and full, we could probably spend another entire day and miss some of its many exhibits.
I have had the pleasure of coming 3 times in a period of 5 years ... I do not consider myself an expert in Art but it is definitely an experience that I recommend to everyone.
One of my favorite places in the city. It’s historic, and a must visit whether a tourist or a local (multiple visits if you’re in the area). There is so much to see, it can feel a bit overwhelming. If it’s your first time, highly suggest doing a little research and figuring out your “route” through, as it is quite big and there is much to see. If you live in the city and head up that way even 4 times a year, I highly suggest a membership. Also, the rotating exhibits are usually great.
Went on Uniqlo free Fridays and amazed by the art and sheer size of the place. Some great pieces available for viewing and worth the time if you have a few hours to spare.
Went today for the first time since covid started. They do a temperature check at the entrance and the security person in the inside garden is very vigilant about people wearing masks there (which is great). However once you are inside people are constantly too close and there are rooms with way way too many people (on a members only day, not sure if it would be more busy on other days). There are hardly any marks/signs on the floor that say keep 6ft distance and nobody enforcing this. It didnt feel all to great and we left early...The new organization and art is amazing. I thought that the diversity of the artist on show has increased a lot.
Lots of history, modern art also. So beautiful! Staff is friendly and helpful.
Fantastic museum with a lot of interesting content, my favourite museum in NYC. It is a must so make sure you visit after it reopens.
Wonderful collections! Wish I had more time to explore. Thank you!
Museum of modern art has a lot to offer and was just newly refurbished in 2019. The amount of space that they have is immense and it seems like the rooms go on forever so if youre coming here you should either be looking for a particular artist or some painting or sculpture that you absolutely want to see or you should be allocating half a day or more of your time and even then I bet you wont see everything. I came specifically for the Picasso and Van Gogh collection.
This is only my second time here, and this time I enjoyed it so much. Cant wait for my third time
Probably the best art gallery Ive ever been too! Some absolute big hitters are here (Monet - Water Lilies, Dali - Persistence of Memory, Warhol - Campbells Soup Cans to name but a few). Even better is that they do Uniqlo Free Friday Nights from 5.30pm onwards (be prepared to queue, although it does go down very quickly once the doors open).

The Museum of Modern Art is an amazing experience if you love art in general, and modern art in particular. This is one of my favorite museums in the world, not just in New York. I highly recommend it!
I visited 2 or 3 times and I just loved it every time. Uplifting..
Beautiful museum with tonnes of stuff to see. Everything from paintings to vases to Faberge eggs. Has a nice rooftop cafe and restaurant with a great view. Definitely worth spending the day there, even if you are not a massive fan of art.
Havent back to MoMA since last year. After all the craziness happening this year. MoMA did a very cautious step for every visitors to making sure our safety. Did a temperature check up for everyone before entering.MoMA is my favorite place to go for photography. Their vast collections of historical photos and photographers is definitely a to go place for me.
I love this place. The one good upside to the pandemic is that fewer folks in the galleries makes for a much better experience.
The Judd Installation was beautifully curated. What a breath of fresh air! COVID practices enforced. So glad to see art up close again!
Of course I loved it, and can’t wait to get back. I also am excited to visit when the renovations are finished. There is so much iconic art here. Make sure you see Christina’s World and the Francis Bacon! I got there on the last day of the Charles White retrospective and I feel lucky I experienced it. What a body of work! Next time I’ll see Starry Night, because my kid made me promise to wait till she could go..
An amazing experience, especially for your first time. 6 floors of wonderful art. Some of the most famous artists and paintings are here. A great place to spend a few hours at.
Worth the price (25$) and the wait. There are great places to take photos.
The redesigned museum is amazing. Of six floors, I was only able to fully explore three, spending an hour on each. The place is huge! Plan your trip accordingly, well worth it!
Great museum with an astonishing collection of modern contemporary art. Bring 2 hours for a quick stroll around or up to 6 hours if you really wanna take in the experience :)
Great art selections. I was really impressed on those great colors and designs.
The building is beautifully designed. Be sure to explore the outdoor garden with many interesting sculptures. Its a good place to see both classic modern art pieces (5th floor) and new exhibitions. MoMA stores have cool products with price tags that make you think twice before buying.
This museum is on the top 5 worldwide, here you can find fine art from all around the world.Tickets are sold for 25usd and they will last 3 days, which totally worth it.Don’t forget to visit Washington crossing the Delaware river, is an amazing piece. And this year they are celebrating it 150 anniversary!!!
A wonderful museum, beautiful artistic creation, and authentic Mahari
Phenomenal building with an excellent collection, including major works by hundreds of iconic artists, including Van Gogh, Picasso, Rothko, Pollock, Bacon; the list goes on and on. Enjoyed the Dorothea Lange exhibition. We just missed the Judd show by a week. Life changing stuff, seeing works in person that I once could only admire in books.
I have always loved this museum; it is quite possibly my favorite museum in the world.
Cant be missed for art lovers.
The Museum of Modern Art, also known as MoMA, has a great collection of modern art, and is often identified as one of the most iconic museums of modern art in the worldThey just did the renovation and the space for each room is wider & cozier. We were there for the preview party of Judd exhibition. We visited his art works in Dia beacon years ago but the new exhibition is awesome with more completion and worth a visit.
An epic world class museum, goes through yet another incredible renovation. The delicate, yet provocative, addition by the renowned architecture firm Diller Scofidio and Renfro, expands the building to handle even more visitors, while paying respects to the previous design, and introducing magically minimal moments throughout the space.
Huge museum housing a wide array of paintings, sculptures and visual media. We did the Uniqlo Free Friday and despite a massive line, it moved really quickly. The only downside was that it was jam packed inside and made the experience a little painful at times. The place is big so I’d definitely recommend researching ahead of time what you want to see so you make the most of your time there.
The exhibit of the old 8 and 16mm film is well worth the time to sit and watch them and read their stories. As well as the photos of the old telephone operators.
So much diversity in art. Everything from avante garde structures from Judd to walls of Picasso.
Modern museum. Beautiful interior design. Has a lot of world-famous paintings. Huge collection. Love the store. The store has a selection of creative merchandise.
Really crowded, youd appreciate the pieces much better if there was less people around.
If you live in nyc, and you havent been here, you should be ashamed of yourself. Worth visiting for starry night alone.
Massively overcrowded, especially with bored kids. Dont expect to spend much time in quiet contemplation or to have much personal space. The exhibits are sparse and too much wall is given to artists who were basically just phoning it in. The layout is unclear but there is supposed to be an order to the exhibits so ask the staff. I spent about 3 hours all told but that included a recharge stop at the cafe (great view) and exploring the shop (probably my favorite part). Im unlikely to return but there are lots of other great museums in New York so no great loss.
For me this place is precious and like a second home! I love art a lot and here you can basically get lost as it’s too much too see there and then you need time to analyze/interpret pieces...highly recommend you for visiting if you love paintings and modern art.
So first of all, it’s a very nice museum! I don’t recommend coming on Friday afternoon/evening. That’s when the admission is for free and it’s way too crowded. Besides, you’ll have to queue up for up to 2 hours if you want to enter for free. Just pay the $14 if you are a student and you won’t have to wait at all! The museum itself is nice, it’s easy to navigate. The art: well it’s art. Not quite my thing but some of the pictures were really nice and quite famous and it was cool seeing them. There are descriptions and explanations as well. It’s barrier free and also a good place to bring kids (I saw a lot of kids!!). The garden plaza is a nice place to hang out! If you’re in town for only a short amount of time I don’t recommend on going! It takes too much time!
Well organized museum; which made it easy to go through all galleries.Their creativity room is pretty cool, esp for kids. Nice museum stores. There are paintings of Van Gogh, Monet and Klimt...
