This is a small history museum about New Smyrna Beach. It is free. Employees are cheerful and friendly. They have numerous old photographs of people that contributed to the early development of the area. They have old artifacts that were found from early settlers. They have a few short video presentations too. They have small wooden, handmade model ships with tiny hand painted little people that accompany the ships. They have some old clothing from early settlers too. Then they have a newer room with surfing equipment and history. Visiting this museum is a pleasant way to spend some time.
This is quite the place and well worth the visit. The volunteers were enthusiastic and welcoming. The displays are really top notch and present the history of New Smyrna from its beginnings up to the present. Give yourself an hour or more to visit.
Definitely worth a visit. The unassuming entry hides a lot of great history and displays. The Museum is suitable for all ages and they have great programs. I just went to one about the pottery found in the area and it was very interesting.
A nice little museum to learn the history of New Smyrna on a rainy day. Lovely, knowledgeable volunteers.
Great museum to learn about Floridas history. Well worth the afternoon to come and take a look.
Visited this morning and was pleasantly surprised at the amount and layout of the exhibits. If you get time be sure to stop in.
Free, asks for donations only. Interesting and well laid out mini museum.
Cool little museum. Worth a visit when you are in town. I used to live in NSB and I learned a lot about my little home town that I didnt know before. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
What a great little museum with a ton of history about New Smyrna Beach and the surrounding area.
Everything is very interesting here. Donations appreciated but not required. Definitely a place to go to learn some great details about our past here in New Smyrna. We enjoyed it so very much. Thank you all for your hard work in putting this museum together.
Neat little hole in the wall local museum. I love the idea of having a place that celebrates our diverse history.
A must stop. Extremely informative. One of the best organizes presentations of historic artifacts including amazing original photos and a very well done video tour of the islands beginning and development. Treat yourself and family.
This is a gem in downtown New Smyrna Beach. There is so much to learn about this area and this museum does a wonderful job of interpreting the history. Here you can learn about when Turnbull brought settlers and indentured servants to the area to produce indigo among other things. You can learn about the connections to Saint Augustine, the oldest inhabited city in the US. There is a gift shop here with a great selection of books for both adults and children. You can also purchase other things that help support the museum.
If you want to know about NSB, then dont miss this! Lots of interesting artifacts and pictures. Helpful people. We went to a great lecture about Murder on the Florida Frontier. Also, check out their street tours/history walks. Good thing to do when the weathers bad.
Good overview of the history of the region. More emphasis on the diversity of even the early population (maybe less on surfing) would make this museum more complete.
Great historical place. Interactive videos. Friendly, knowledgeable dosents.
Grew up in NSB! Was really neat to see the history of the town, they should teach town history in school! The people were really nice, did not smother you as you we went thru, but were around for us to ask questions...it was near to seen my ancestors on the walls...
A true gem.Ask them a question, and if they dont know, theyll make something ul!
Great museum to visit when youre getting to know the area as a visitor or new resident. With staff available to answer your questions and point out points of interest to explore a bit more as you take in the sites of coastal life. Plenty of parking accross the street if you decide to visit nearby shops restaurants. Fun to step into the past, for a quick peek of how time changes life, it can surprise you in ways you might not expect. Have yourself an adventure in time.
Small friendly museum sharing much of the 18th, 19th and 20th Century history of the area. Would have given it five stars if it had more space devoted to the earlier Spanish experience.
Sweet small museum with extremely interesting displays. Thoroughly enjoyed my visit.
Well done! Great exibits of the history of the town. And best of all, free!
A small museum but very interesting, it is run by volunteers and is free but accepts donations. Find out all about New Smyrna and surrounding areas.

I grew up and lived about 20 miles away, but never learned this part of local history. Stop by for a walk thru the past and enjoy some old Florida.
