Charged $30 to visit a packed aquarium. No one was wearing masks, had to walk all the way to theater viewing to purchase tickets only to have to walk all the way back to the season pass area and enter there. & they had no A/C. Not a very good variety of fish. Had a huge turtle and big fish but definitely not worth $30

Other than visiting The Downtown Aquarium in Houston against my will, I had no interest in aquariums in general. When I stopped New Orleans during my gulf coast road trip, I was impressed by the building design and thought I should try giving this aquarium a try. I was glad I did.Its a steep entrance fee, but its well worth it. The exhibits are well designed, interesting and creative. Its a photographers paradise. Honestly its what kept me here. Lots of vibrant colors and designs. Sure the fish are cool too. If you have the chance to visit, do yourself a favor and reserve a spot.

Lower your expectations of what a trip to the aquarium should be. With a $30 adult ticket price and a $25 childrens priced ticket, my family was expecting a nice day at the aquarium. When we first arrived, we were surprised at the crowd size during CoVid but we figured that was because this was a good attraction. We were sadly mistaken. We saw 2 sharks. Other than the cool tunnel at the beginning of the tour, we were left feeling like we were charged a full price admission for a half open aquarium. I would skip this attraction on any of our future visits. After paying for 3 hours of parking ($25) and $60 for admission, we had made it through the whole attraction in under an hour. Just not worth the money!

Disappointing visit to what acquaintances told me was a must-see in New Orleans. We visited during COVID and the aquarium seemed clean and was not crowded due to timed entrance tickets. However, two major exhibits were closed and the remainder of the exhibits seemed to need an update. We literally made it through the entire facility in 30 minutes. It may be nice for younger kids, but not older elementary students, not so much. For $30.00 a piece I was expecting more.

The last time I came was over a decade ago. The aquarium is pretty nice -- probably more amazing when you are a child since you become jaded as you age.The aquarium could use a refresh -- feels like it was built in the 90s. The variety is good. Parking is always tricky downtown. I enjoyed it overall. Several of the displays are down due to Covid but still would recommend. Enjoy and bring a kid or nine. Peace.

They had soooo much information on all their animals and their natural habitats I couldnt get to it all. The habitats were well kept, and the animals were cozy. Their hawk and owl were awsome to see, and I now know how big an otter is . Sad to see that theyre not doing so hot on visitor numbers, we were really hoping to get to the insecterium but they are permanently closed. Hope they get the finances soon!

Disappointed. A lot of exhibits were closed to a point of feeling being a bit ripped off. Staff was nice. Cafe does not give out plastic straws for your plastic cups they serve you due to concerns for the environment. Tells me everything I need to know who’s running this place. By far one of the smallest aquariums I’ve visited. Nice layout but sorry, will not ever be returning.

Parking is $15.25 for 30 minutes. Tickets are about $32 for one person. Do the math. Bring your wallet with you. We parking at the other lot and paid $90 in parking for a few hours. The person next to us paid $125 for parking for a few hours. They seek to make merchandise out of you. Paying through the nose aside, which is difficult, it is a top notch aquarium. It will blow your mind and not just the price. I didnt see coffee, which was kind of disappointing. They did have a cafe on the second floor. They do have elevators for the handicap.

A really great place to go and see some aquatic life. There are a few exhibits that are presently closed due to Covid-19 but still a very positive experience. They also change things up from time to time, different animals, different exhibits, different events. Its great to check out during those times or when there are special occasions so it is worth coming here a few times a year. I love fish, and noticed there were not many crustacean or amphibian exhibits (I cant recall any crustaceans in fact).

We spontaneously stopped by here to stretch our legs during a long road trip and enjoyed it. They have some very nice aquariums, although there isnt a whole lot. We walked it in under 30 minutes with a toddler. Not a big deal. We enjoyed everything, especially the sharks. The gift shop also had a big selection and we walked out with shirts and mugs. I cant give 5 stars because the cost was pretty outrageous for what you see. On top of that, the parking was very expensive. Slid down mask in a partially outside exhibit to ASK EMPLOYEE A QUESTION because he was 50 FEET away and above feeding a bird. He verbally attacked us for sliding down masks to raise our voice so he could hear. He never did answer even after I put my mask back on and just ignored us. I asked again (100% nice and cooperative) and all he responded was another verbal threat about masks or removal. There was another white family in there before us and they didn’t even have masks but were told nothing. We had our masks on the ENTIRE TIME with the exception of asking him a question. Even my 4 year old.I’m a woman of color and I know what it feels like to be targeted by young white superiority complex males.Otherwise - facility was clean, but the aquarium has no interactive elements other than a few sentences posted in each exhibit. Since it’s rather small, the whole thing lasted 30 minutes. And that was us being patient. The only employee we had the misfortune of seeing during the walk through was the one who targeted us. If they are cutting down on educational quality for safety concerns I’m 100% on board and understand, but should not charge $100 to do a 30 minute walk through. We were even required to pay $25 for parking for 3 hours.Won’t ever go back that’s for sure. Just disappointed I wasted the day driving there to be attacked by an employee and a 30 minute walk through.

Everything was good. I could not participate in the interactive activities due to the pandemic, but it is something that is understood. They should have more variety of animals, they dont have octopuses, but I dont agree with is that they have birds like Eagles and owls tied up without being able to move. At least they should be kept in a small cage so they have more room to move. They are practically immobile and the worst thing is that I paid the ticket and promoting that.

We came to NOLA for our honeymoon and only intended on stopping here for an hour or 2 to pass time while we waited for nightlife to open again... And we ended up spending our ENTIRE day here. This place is AMAZING and there is so much to do with regular entry ticket like seeing the penguins get fed and watch the otters get trained! Additional fun things like feeding the parakeets and sting Rays are a couple of bucks at most and goes to feed the animals. We had a BLAST here for 2 30 year olds with no kids!!! Will come again with family next time for sure. This is the biggest part of our honeymoon memories and we tell everyone about our great time here at the aquarium!

Theres so much to see and do for all ages! The aquariums have diverse populations. Although we didnt do it, you can snorkel in one of them. The aviary was fun where you get close encounters with parakeets. There was an impressive hawk & an owl. The albino alligator is always cool to see. The penguins and otters were delightful.Throughout the aquarium, you learn a lot about ocean life and how humans affect it - positively and negatively. I love how educational it is.We watched two movies. The one in Cuba was beautiful, not more like a tourist pitch (I definite want to visit now!). The other about the Pacific Ocean was amazing and in 3D. Several years ago, we watched the Katrina movie and it was very well done. You should plan a day here when youre in New Orleans, no matter your age.

Pretty small aquarium and not worth the price ($25 for a child and $30 for adults - no re-entry). Even though we took our time exploring we were in and out in 45 minutes. We also felt the exhibits were small and slighty depressing for the animals with lots of fake coral/sea grass/sea weed in the tanks. They also had a beautiful hawk that was tied to a post up in the rainforest section which was kinda sad to see, but we did enjoy seeing the macaws (they were not tied up). We went bc we had our 4yo daughter with us and wanted something kid friendly to do in NOLA, otherwise we would not recommend for the price and exhibit quality. Staff, however, were friendly, helpful and aquarium was clean and is doing a good job adhering to social distancing guidelines.

I totally geeked out at this aquarium! The animals were very lovely and active. The large viewing ports and aquariums were splendid and full of life. The lighting was just right to show off the vivid colors of the sea life, yet just low enough to mimic the great colors of the sea. Something for the children and the full of life adults, the activities kept me with an adventurous feel the whole time. We loved the parakeet room, the petting pool, and the feeding of the penguins. Only thing I did not like was what they offered for food... there was barely anything appetizing and of course jaw dropping expensive; so eat before or after your trip.

Hate to beat up on public spaces that are trying to educate people, but this place was super underwhelming. Definite tourist trap. For the nearly $30 admission per adult I was expecting a heck of a lot more. Several exhibits were under construction and there are not that many to begin with. You can be through here in under an hour and still see all there is to offer with plenty of attention paid to each item. For half the price, I would highly recommend, but this should be part of a larger zoological park to justify the cost. The exhibits are nice and with decent attention to detail, just only about 10 of them...

The Aquarium is a very nice place to go to, but not an Aquarium to go out of your way for. There are certainly more impressive aquariums I have visited before, but since this one has such a positive rating, I figured Id check it out. It definitely serves the local educational experience and in that way families and school classes should definitely spend a visit. Yet, the price is way too steep for what is on show. The visitor is well guided on a path through the exhibition. The food court unfortunately is run by fast-food chains and the quality of the food does not live up to the notion of saving the ocean and its inhabitants which one is reminded of throughout the museum. Also, it does not educate kids to a healthy and sustainable choice...Its sad that to keep up the aquarium, the price has to be high, but also food chains have to be installed.
