Exterior view. Southern antebellum sugar plantation built in 1831-34 by David Weeks. Restored in the 1920s by the builders great-grandson, William Weeks Hall, 1894-1958.
Nice tour beautiful home. The arts and crafts markets they have every year are great. Great prices for nice items you cant get in the store.
Nice tour of the Weeks family home in New Iberia. Tour takes about 2 hours or more if you walk the property after.
We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Especially since we are both James Lee Burke fans and this house is mentioned in several of his books.
And incredible Plantation home once owned by the Weeks family and maintained by slaves. The tour guide was Chris and he was incredibly knowledgeable of the plantations history dated back to the 1800s. The grounds are well-kept and there is even a cemetery for the Weeks family. The home has many original relics. Only the first and second floors are available for viewing and the third floor and other rooms are not available for viewing. I recommend the touring of this property. My visit was on April 27th 2019 at 1:30 p.m.
Very informative all staff members were very accommodating and so friendly absolutely loved it. Beautiful house and beautiful gardens.
Lovely old plantation house. Close to Avery Island so easy to combine trip from New Orleans.
Very interesting restored house, tour guide very knowledgeable
Nice location in the heart of New Iberia. Pleasent walk though the grounds and bayou side.
Its a great lesrning experience for adults and children
Ive lived in central Louisiana all my life and never knew this was here! Its a beautiful place, and very tranquil. They have good public restrooms, and there is walking involved. So worth the trip.
Beautiful old plantation house. The gardens were extraordinary. Our tour guide was precious and very informative. A great tour.
One of the best spots in New Iberia. It is immersed in history and is absolutely beautiful. The gardens are gorgeous and I highly recommend a tour of the home. You will not be disappointed. You can also check out their Facebook or website. They have semi-annual craft shows and are always having little events for the public.
Beautiful home, with everything but original fabrics and paint. A place to go back in time. A one of a kind home, for a one of a kind era in time. The tour was wonderful and informative. Highly recommended to all who would like to learn about Louisiana history, and what helped build the south.
So much History here. And Ive lived here, but never seen before. Awesome staff
Interesting history, excellent tour guides and a nice art exhibit in the visitor center.
Informative tour. Fascinating story. Relavent to the areas history and many original artifacts.
This is a great plantation tour in New Iberia, LA. The tour takes about an hour, and the number of artifacts the owners have is staggering. This was a great tour.
Loved the property.. Glad it was preserved.
Very cool! Awesome tour and arts & craft fair.
It was a good plantation but our tour guide had no idea what she was talking about anytime you asked a question shed say they didnt tell her.. also she kinda made some stuff up that I know to be true
We had a wonderful time here. The tour was great and our kids learned alot.
Our granddaughter loves to visit plantation homes. So we were in the area and picked The Shadows! This is one of the finest homes and so authentic restoration and so much family items, furnishings!! The guide and visitor center and the grounds were so nice!!! Love this place!!!
This was a great place to spend a few hours. As a historical site, it is great. It contains a preserved home and interpretive resources. The grounds are great, as is the staff. All in all, fantastic place to enjoy history.
I have not visited since the 60s and I enjoyed spending my daughters birthday with her visiting once again. So much history . Was such an enjoyable day
We love it the perfect place to tour
Friendly staff and beautiful estate.

Nice place to visit if your not from new iberia Louisiana
Great property with a lot of history. Love the landscaped grounds.
Great tour. Interring site.
Nice historic place. I was part of a group that had dinner on the grounds and fried fish was cold and tough. I wasnt impressed with expensive meal.
Its a wonderful house. Its not what I expected. Its not a grand house like some of plantations in the surrounding areas, but a nice house.
Ok place, but not a plantation visit just a house.
One of the few places in Louisiana where you get a credibly researched tour of a historic home. Beautifully restored and accurately presented. Put this on your list of places to visit when you are in Louisiana.
Very interesting sugar plantation. Well worth the stop.
Beautiful home from 1830s, beautifully restored and 85% of the furnishings and household items are original. Great history and tour.
Pretty nice tour
Great place to visit.
Enjoyed the walk back through time. Our guide was happy to answer our questions and shared alot of information.
Visiting New Iberia this is a must-see Shadows of the Teche is an awesome Antebellum house built over a hundred years ago on the Bayou. They have tours daily check the schedule
A must see in New Iberia! The tour explains everything you need to know about this unique area.
Beautiful antebellum mansion with awesome old growth live oaks
Nice example of a southern plantation style house. They were a bit restrictive on picture taking - no pictures allowed inside. Reasons didnt make a lot of sense, but I guess its their game.
Beautiful place. No real significant history and awkward in and out of the house tour makes it lose a star.
Great for field trips and historic learning experience that all ages can take interest in
Guide was very informative. enjoyed learning about the Weeks family and all the history associated with this house. A must do for anyone interested in history.
