Nothing beats New Haven pizza! The mashed potato and bacon pie totally lives up to the hype and is worth the trip alone. Perfect crust, perfect ratios of sauce and toppings, super fresh ingredients, and the prices are solid. The other pizzas there are excellent as well but the mashed potato pie is our favorite. Friendly service and fast as well. We haven’t been there late at night so that could be different. One of the best pizzerias in New Haven.

Very nice place for dinner. They brew their own beer (4 different brews) and make delicious pizza. Especially the mashed potatoes with ham pizza is popular and can be recommended. The inside is rustic and modern with some large tables for big groups. With the large glass front towards the street and brewing tankes it creates a cosy and urban atmosphere. Service is very friendly and quick and gives good recommendations. Definitely worth a visit at least for a drink and a pizza and I will come back next time I am in New Haven.

Great service and great food. The arrangement of seating was conducive to social distancing and we felt safe. The waitress was kind enough to honor happy hour prices when we requested one more drink. Pricey but worth it.

Honestly with COVID Ive been ordering pizzas from here and taking them to go. You really cant beat the prize of a large from here and its more than enough for several people. Pre and hopefully post COVID will get back to the booming fun night out it used to be.

The service was not what I was expected. Need it to ask for everything. Cups were dirty and no napkins. The potatoes pizza taste really good but is very thing. I will not eat this as a dinner or lunch. I will have it as appetizer.

Lets start of with the fact that a big plus of this place is that you can create your own pizza- starting with the size, base of the pizza and toppings. Be aware that even the medium pizzas (which you can see in the pictures) are extremely big and I had a big problem to finish mine and so I cant imagine how huge the large ones are. The crust is thin and really good. A downside for me is that they have no olive oils to put on the pizzas. Other than that I really loved everything and so I had to give them 5 stars.

While im no expert on the subject, I can say that the sausage pizza here is unequivocally the best pizza ive ever eaten in my life. It was insanely crispy but somehow soft, the cheese as clear as glass from insane oven heat, sausage rich but not overpowering, sauce that was simple but with insane depth of flavor. It was so good we ate 2

One of my favorite new haven pizza places. Plenty of space and delicious pizza. I love how they make thin square pizzas for a change. Stay out of the back room though, its pretty dirty and creepy at least when I was there last. The staff are nice but service is sometimes slow, definitely worth checking out. Louis Lunch is across the street which is worth trying if you have some room left in your stomach.

Food was so/so considering the wait. Was placed on the waiting list at 7 pm. Was told the wait was 20 min, but nobody ever called my phone. Went somewhere else and came back at 9 pm, and still had to wait to be seated despite having put my name on the list 2 hours prior. Mashed potato and bacon pizza was dry and under seasoned. Pepperoni pizza was ok, not best I ever had. Wouldnt go back, but food was overall edible, just not phenomenal.

They took my real ID insisting it was fake. They’re lucky I don’t press charges. Bouncer put hands on my group which is illegal. This organization is lucky I didn’t press charger against them.

My first experience Four stars because they have good pizza but they said its an hour wait on a Saturday, and then when I got my pizza I had to reheat it.

A terrific place to get very good brick oven pizza along with freshly brewed beer. The space is huge with three active bars and room for large private parties. The atmosphere is loud but fun. The staff is friendly and helpful. The pizza and beer are a must!

Have been here many times, great pizza of course and typically decent service... pre covid this was more of a club and service reflected, which was still decent, but I came back first time in a year and had an incredible time, my server was named stevie and he was just 100% on the vibe and on it all night. Had flights of beer and he recommended fabulous choices otherwise. Will be coming back hoping to see him! And their house beers are always a nice little treat, as were their take on the gin and tonic.

This place came highly recommended from some of the locals in the area. Came here after a day of work, and the general vibe is great. Fun place to go with friends to enjoy some beer and eat some pizza. The seating plan seems to be divided in 2 areas, tables and bigger tables for larger groups near the bar. Would recommend checking out.

This place has great brews and amazing pizza! I am a huge fan of both and have tried many different places for each but this place definitely takes th cake for a good beer and delicious slice! Its not very cheap but its very good!

Server seemed a bit busy to check back if we ever wanted another drink or how our pizza was tasting, but the food was delicious.

We had 3 very nice and ginormous thin crust pizzas, also tried their interesting pizza with mashed potatoes, and it was good. The servers were obviously busy but still nice and attentive. The wait time on a Sunday evening was about 25-30 min, so we spent it at the bar. It would be very nice to see some diversity among the bartending and serving staff.

I enjoyed the house made beer here. The lager and IPA were made well!Thin crust pizza came out right, decent selection of toppings is available. I like this place!

Very good pizza and beer and its a nice place when you can talk and meet people. You can customize your pizza and they let you try their beers so you can choose it.

TO DO LIST - New Haven Pizza - A very lively place with amazing pizza and great choice of beer and cocktails. There is a dance floor if you like to dance off. The pizzas were amazing and HUGE!! I mean we took small size and it was enough for two of us and also took some food next day lunch. The quality of the bread is really good. Tables are bit squeaky but they changed it. They will also give your sample of your beer before ordering a full mug.You read show id for entry into the dance floor as well as consuming alcohol.Might have to wait for some time for the tables but overall great experience.

I know it’s a bit late in posting this BUT, my cousin had her wedding rehearsal dinner here 2 years ago I had a freggin awesome time here. Pizza and drinks were great. Will de be back next time I go to Connecticut.

Ive been reviewing pizza places for a while and this place takes the cake. Or pie rather.The sauce is wonderfully acidic and smooth, the dough itself is paper thin, crispy yet floppy, the curb is deliciously charred.The cheese is a perfect amount of saltiness, has great moisture content, and the pepperoni is great quality.An excellent way to kick off a weekend in New Haven, and as a plus Louis is right across the street; The home of the original burger.

I celebrated my nomination last night in this delicious restaurant. Well it was a awesome evening and the place was no doubt the reason for this strong celebration. The waiters participated in a lovely manner, the meals were yummy and my buddies were so thrilled. We shall surely visit again for more joyful events. Thank you very much.

It’s been a solid 3 years since I’ve found this place and it hasn’t let me down yet. Just make sure everyone in your party is 21 (unless minors have their parents with them) or they won’t let you in.This place has the best thin crust pizza. My friends and I usually order their mashed potato and sausage pizza - never disappoints! Everything is locally sourced too.Great place to hang out with friends and family. Chill vibes and such a relaxing atmosphere So definitely don’t pass up this spot.Also if you like beer, try the Blondie (ask your server, they’ll know what’s up)!

I was completely disappointed!! Pizza was terrible and dry. I’ve had it multiple times in the past and it was delicious. Idk if it’s because of Covid but I had take it and it was truly awful. Taste like microwave pizza. Very upset I wasted 40 bucks!

Really good drinks (Beers, Martinis, cocktails).. went with my friend and the bartender made whatever martini we wanted, Super good ! The pizza here is out of this world, I suggest the mashed potato, but there are also so many other options for toppings and such. It’s also a bonus that on weekends there is a dance club/lounge area open in the back.

We went here for a late lunch today and were incredibly disappointed with the service. Our server walked away before we could finish sentences, did not set down a menu or indicate that we should turn the table card the other way to see that there is a virtual menu. I would have had another beer if I did not have to wait more than fifteen minutes from deciding that to even seeing the server to order one. When we indicated we were ready to cash out, he again walked away before we could ask if splitting the bill is a standard practice here or not, and he brought us back one bill saying we could tell him who is paying for what. Finally, and most egregiously, he presented us with our bill in a cup that someone else had clearly been drinking from with lemon seeds and mouth marks — in a pandemic. After waiting more than five minutes to see him and address it, another server cashed us out.I’m not sure if it was something about our presentation that made these gestures purposeful, or just incompetence, but getting a dirty class set in front of us to interact with during a pandemic is not at all acceptable.Two stars for the beer, which was delicious, and the server who cashed us out, who was polite and efficient.EDIT: to add that my friends beer was forgotten, and that the server walked away to get it (mid sentence again) with no apology for the delay.

The pizza here was awesome! It tasted good, the ingredients were fresh, and it wasnt overly filling! The staff was friendly as well. Definitely check this place out if youre in Newhaven or just passing through.

The best pizza Ive ever had! I got a small mashed potato with bacon, which was enough for two very hungry people. There were great beer options on tap (including an awesome chocolate stout), and the bartenders were very nice. I would love to go again if Im ever back in the area. Im not sure how this place compares to other pizza places in New Haven (simply because I havent been to any others).

I have always loved BAR for Pizza and beer. The mashed potato and bacon pie is my favorite pie anywhere. I have fond memories of spending nights out in New Haven and ending up at BAR to grab a Toasted Blonde and Mashed Potato and Bacon pie to finish the night.The space is also great to come for lunch or dinner. Love the light in the bar areas with the glass garage doors. Bar Salad (only one on the menu) is an awesome mix of complementing pear, caramelized pecans and blue cheese; the bowl is a huge size perfect for sharing with a group to go along with a couple pizza pies.

The best (non-traditional) pizza in town, the mashed potato pizza with bacon! Come here on a Friday or Saturday for some of their home brewed beer, pizza and dancing after 10! Dont forget to stop at Louis lunch across the street in you way out

The pizza is always amazing, thin crust, huge pies and the toppings are perfect. The service is also top-notch, the pizza is usually at your table after around 10 mins. My personal favorite and their specialty is mashed potatoes with bacon on white sauce. Definitely a must to go when youre in or around New Haven, because its simply the best (A)pizza around.

The pizza is okay.We left to get some air because it was extremely crowded and when we tried to go back in, they denied us access and it was within an hour of us being there.For pizza during the day sure I would recommend it but for the night life, no. Stay away. They let WAY to may people in and even after charging you the cover fee they will not let you back in. I do not recommend.

Famous pizza joint in downtown New Haven. Its always a fun place to hangout with folks for casual pizza night. The beer was great. The dining room always filled with laughter and good vibes.

My friend told me I had to come here to try what is called a mash potato pizza? It’s delicious! The crusts are especially what makes the pizza experience amazing. I would definitely avoid coming here at certain hours or nights though as this place is still a bar near Yale campus and thus attracts many college students. I also wasn’t very happy about having to pay an entrance fee (they have a dance floor) when my purpose of coming here was for their pizza.

Mashed potato bacon pizza is the best

As a Buffalonian Im used to a certain type of pizza. Thicker, doughy crust with lots of cheese and toppings. This pizza is totally different! Very thin crust that folds easily and is a little more chewy. The toppings we got were less traditional also. Mashed potatoes and bacon. Not my normal choice but they worked. Delicious! The service was quick and friendly and the place was clean. Overall very satisfying. Large selection of craft beers.

Today was the third time that we came to New Haven Bar and a waitress with short hair, a dark red shirt and jeans, let me very embarrassed. We gave a tip to her, and she gave the money back to me, and she almost forced me give more money. She asked to me if I wasn’t treated well and said that we should give more money. I love this place, the Pizza is very good, however I never was treated like this before!

Im Italian wanted to taste the pizza that everyone was talking about. It was tasty but I felt the dough was under cooked. Probably because it was so busy. I would like to try it again on a slower day. As far as the liquor and beer way to expensive. Make sure you have a pregame plan before you go

I dont live in Connecticut but have been known to drive pretty far out of my way just to pick up pizzas from BAR! My husband and I always get one with cheese, bacon, garlic, and mashed potatoes. (My mouth is now watering.) I have also eaten in a few times and enjoyed their house beers. Great place!

The best baked potato pizza Ive ever had! The mashed potatoes were flavorful and the perfect consistency. The red one was also amazing. The crust was great and so was the sauce. The atmosphere was great, and so was the music!

Great pizza in downtown New Haven. Their pizza is very unique. The crust is very thin and soft and the flavours are unlike other pizzerias. They have lots of great topping options including mashed potatoes, eggplant, and ricotta. I love getting mashed potato and garlic pizza on one half with eggplant ricotta on the other half.This place is usually crowded and it is not the best place to go if you want to sit and enjoy a peaceful dinner. It is loud and packed with people standing to get drinks and socialize. Even if you are not into that scene, the pizza makes it worth visiting this place at least once.The service is not outstanding, and I have had an employee be rude on more than one occasion. Still, the pizza makes it worth coming back.If you are in New Haven on a pizza tour, Bar is a must-try. If you are looking for the best pizza in town, Bar might be the spot, but it has stiff competition from a few other establishments. Their pizza is a unique enough that it will always be in the discussion of best pizza in New Haven.

One of the best if not best mashed potato pizzas around. While it can appear busy you can grab a drink at the bar while you wait for your table. The wait times may seem long but they usually move very quickly. We were told 45 minutes and actually only waited about 15 for a party of 6

Pizza is good and they have a good beer selection including some of there own. Big open place. Some long tables for groups. If there isnt much street parking there is a lot across the street ($8).

We came from NYC & needed to fill our pizza craving after our training session latenight. I came across BAR becuase of its later serving hours within the area. We got a medium pepperoni pizza. It was a thin crust, not too salty or greasy & delicious flavors. The ambiance of the restaurant/ bar had a very fun set-up with a pool tables & music/ karaoke. The two negative I would give is the fact that it took a bit long when we went to pick up the pizza & overly priced. Overall, if youre looking for a good home brick oven pizza, this is your spot!

Great pizza. Ordered the mash potato and bacon, a white chicken broccoli and a plain mozzarella. The chicken broccoli was not so great. Wish I had gotten more of just the plain mozzarella. The double IPA and session IPA were both good.

Great pizza with huge portions! Didnt take long to get our food and service was excellent! Fills up with the college crowd later in the evening. So if you want to avoid the masses, come dine before 9 PM.

Eat it while its hot! Between two, we ordered two small pizzas to try the mashed potato and a red pizza and you cant do half half of red and white. Portion was good and I sent the leftovers with my boyfriend on his flight. He said pizza was still good cold!
