This 17th century church is well preserved and makes for an excellent backdrop the whole New Castle historical district. While youre enjoying the wonderfully restored architecture of the Church, make sure to walk through the centuries-old cemetery next to it. Read through the epitaphs and youll be shocked at how old the cemetery is!
Beautiful place rich with history. George Read is buried here and youll often see coins on his grave, shown as a sign of respect for his service to this country. Its like a walk in the past, with many graves dating back to the 1700s. After your visit, take a short stroll to the main street for dinner or a nice walk along the river.
Historical Old New Castle. See a well maintained church from the 1700s as well as many graves from Americas earliest settlers in the first state of the Union. Also first state to sign the Declaration of Independence. A step back in time with many original houses and buildings from both the 1700s as well as early 1800s and the church parishioners here are about as dedicated as any Ive ever seen and met.A true piece of American history and about as close as youll get to Williamsburg without the long drive. The town also features Delawares first court house and also one of the first in America. Well maintained with virtually all of the original furniture and paintings. This is one stop of truly original Americana you dont want to miss and even a few of the original cobblestone streets and one of Americs first fire houses.
I worked there as construction personnel. it is a historical church. if you are into architecture its a cool place to check out.
Havent been there for services but beautiful to visit
I cant provide much information because I never went inside the church itself just reviewing from the outside
Beautiful Easter service. Genuinely friendly and welcoming.
Beautiful buildings and grounds. Lots of history. This is the oldest Episcopal church in continuous use in the U.S. Some Episcopal churches are older but shut down during the American Revolution.
Looking back in time is what it felt like to be at this beautiful church. It is lovely and surrounded by gravestones. It is rich in history and truly a delight to see.
Great music and sung liturgy as well.
Beautiful colonial style Episcopal Church with a wonderful and loving congregation that accepts everyone from all walks of life.
Gotta go once
