The golf course is in decent shape, greens are good. The reason for 3 stars is because of price, its certainly not worth $48, and most definitely not worth $28 for a 10 year old. We played 18 and then wanted a replay of 9, I dont mind paying for an additional cart fee but $48 for me and and my 10 YO son? I would have left if it wasnt for him. Theyre a private club in the afternoon during the weekdays and all weekend. Also you must be a sheep to pay or they wont let you into be clubhouse, (mask). Your prices for juniors are ridiculous, the majority of clubs including private clubs in this area are free.
Since Scott Cambell has taken over, he has been doing a fabulous job of bringing the club back to its old glory. There is a sense of pride there again.
Chef Ben is amazing and so is his staffScott is an awesome GM
I requested my salmon cooked lightly but it was served well done and dry.
Being to a retirement party for a friend of Gloria, it was a very nice place ! Like to come again ...
Food and service very fine. Room chilly and uncomfortable. Room is and always has been very noisy when groups gather. Sound damping material needed but probably too expensive right now.
Very nice course.
First time playing this course. Have played many rounds at its neighbor, Carolina Colours. Taberna was in very good condition today. Was told that the staff has been delayed on cutting the fairways this week, due to never ending rain in the area. So the fairways were a bit shaggy. Still not bad and very playable. The course is pretty open and forgiving for wide drives. Traps were well groomed and greens were soft and fast. Very little of the poa anna reported in other reviews. Plenty of tees to cater to every skill and distance level. Good layout, similar to Carolina Colours. The staff was very friendly and eager to assist. Will definitely return. Hope the fairways are mowed a little so I can get some roll out on the drives.
Great atmosphere, great staff and super food. A really nice experience.
Great course, price is good
Pool opens late every year, around late June and closes mid September. There is a food minimum at the dining room which has had a significant decrease in quality with new management in the last year. They charge DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR for any unused food minimum which is $150 per quarter. Gratuity, tax, and non-alcoholic drinks do not contribute to your food minimum. Dont bother, go to Carolina Colours.
The course was in good shape from tee to green. They must only have local play as there was virtually no staff visible other than the young lady at the desk. The bag drop is a long way from the club house and when we checked in, the two foursomes took at least 15 minutes to get signed in and paid. Two ladies at the computer finally got things straight and we went back down the stairs to where some carts were parked. Alas, no keys in any of them. We walked into the cart barn area calling out, but no one around. Finally ascended the step again only to learn that the desk person had the keys. Very strange set up, no starter, nothing. Weather was good and would play again, but will make sure to ask for the keys.
Kinda disappointed. Staff was not polite (not rude either). I have played it in better shape.
Food and service always good. Christmas decorations are beautiful
Nice...wonderful staff ...Granddaughters wedding and reception and rehearsal dinner all at Tavern Country Club....all was beautiful and more than pleasing!
Recent upgrades to the golf course, tennis courts, pool and a refurbished restaurant have greatly improved the experience at the Country Club.
Had lots of fun. Enjoyed the visit
Old school country club feel right in the Taberna part of New Bern
A seemingly nice club house. Service is slow and the food is mediocre.
