Fisk University itself is a MUST see! You can feel the history of the space as the first HBCU. This art gallery hosts black artists to dive deeper into the black stories and share historical perspectives many folks may not know.
Nice gallery. Actually did some research before and after visiting the gallery. I did volunteer work for them as well. I assisted in tours and desk management. I even briefly visited the Carl Van Vechten art gallery while attending Fisk University for my History of Fisk class course. We, on the class trip, walked across campus to the gallery but when we went in we went down the stairs which unveiled a new section of the gallery that had a different variety of options expanding from 1890 to present day!! I love love love the art they have available.
Small but excellent gallery that displays African American artists. A historically significant gallery with a multimillion dollar collection. A lot of the collection is borrowed by much larger galleries in the US.
This gallery is famous for its collection donated by Edward Steichen. However, this collection is now on loan to Crystal Bridges and is not on display. There is little else to recommend this museum.
Great place to spend some quality time..Remember to visit the campus library.
Wonderful place. Beautiful history!
Important to learn the legacy and the immense collections of over 4,000 historical works of the African American artists!
The art work was spectacular.
Beautiful art exhibits for all ages.
Exceptional showcase of alumni and faculty artwork currently on display.
One of Nashvilles greatest treasures. They have a wonderful art collection and feature impressive shows from around the globe.
Life affirming visit 35 years after graduating!
Unique presentation just small.
It was very insightful though small it provided just enough information to make up for his size
One of a kind pieces by Fisk students and faculty
Loved IT
Great exhibitions, knowledgeable and friendly staff
This is a must see gem in Nashville.
Absolutely amazing!
Great collection of early modern art.
Nice gallery, but ther operations time are undependable.
I made s special trip to Nashville just to visit this museum. It was on Saturday, late morning/early afternoon. The doors were locked, no notes posted. So, I was very disappointed!
