This walk is a little strange walking through everyones backyard but is also amazing offering up great views of the ocean, beach an grand cliff side homes. The walk took me about an hour to get from the bus stop to the Lighthouse, taking my time and about the same on the return. I think the bluff walk is a mile and a half one way with another half mile to the Lighthouse. Some people seem to be real engaging with painted shells that interact with jokes and invitations down their stairs while others have private signs up. Try to be respectful and appreciate this access to great views!

It is a beautiful walk! I came here mid-August with very nice weather and a breeze. You can hear the ocean and look at all the beautiful flowers and houses. Even though you are in someones backyard, they dont seem to care and they are used to seeing visitors. You can see the beach and it is absolutely a wonderful sight to see.

15 minute $2 bus ride from historic Nantucket Town Center. Beautiful walk behind carefully landscaped classic New England Style homes on one side, and beautiful beach and ocean the other. Very tranquil and inspiring.

Incredibly easy to miss the entrance, but if you find it, definitely take it. Rabbits abound on it and you can get some amazing views. However you will feel like you’re walking through people’s backyards and trespassing (despite this legally being here since the 1890s).

The bluff walk was absolutely beautiful. One thing to not is if youre coming from the lighthouse which is directly north, the path is kind of hidden with a break in between 2 houses. I believe it will be marked with a Public Way stone on the street to let you know where the bluff path starts on the north side. You will walk along the bluff line and through paths carved into the brush, bushes, and overgrown areas. Its all very beautiful and quiet.Word of warning though, you will be walking through and along peoples backyards so please dont provoke or pet the animals. Also, there are stairs leading down to the beach (most of which are privately owned) so use caution and be sure to not trespass by using someone elses stairway. Most of them are closed or locked and clearly marked so you shouldnt have any issue identifying them. Overall, its a very lovely and picturesque walk. Enjoy!

Easy walk that runs 1.7 miles to the lighthouse (even flip flops will do). Narrow at points, advised no wheels (strollers, etc). Say hello to the friendly neighbors welcoming you through their properties!

Nice straight walk with beautiful views. No bikes, dogs need to be kept on their leashes as you will be walking on people’s lawns. The path ends at erosion area, you can walk half a mile to get to the lighthouse. Just make sure to mark the exit spot so you can find it on your way back!

Beautiful walk with some terrific views. You are walking through peoples backyards - though its a public way and they seem fine with it. Definitely recommend it if youre nearby!

Amazing public walk meandering through private back yards. No dogs, biking, or jogging. Ocean view was spectacular. After the trail ends there is a 0.5 mile walk on roadway to reach Sankaty Head lighthouse, definitely worth the hike.

The flowers were mostly out of season when I visited, which likely made it less pretty to walk through, but youre basically looking just down at the beach and ocean while walking through peoples backyards. Feels kinda intrusive and awkward, especially if you want to pop off early and not finish the whole thing, which requires you to do a dash through a yard. Its really just a dirt path through everyones property with a view and some flowers. Wouldnt come all the way out here just for this, especially if youre biking.
