We have always bought season tickets and since Covid they have gone downhill. They have been rude to us at the shows and Unresponsive when trying to resolve issues. I have been calling for weeks and emailing with NO responses. Sadly we will no longer continue our yearly season tickets with them. They refuse to refund money but dont allow you choices for the shows and stick you in seats not compatible to what you paid for.
I love Music Theatre of Idaho. My granddaughters have been performing since 2011. My oldest granddaughter, Julia has cerebral palsy and has always been treated like a valuable cast member. MTI works to make her feel involved and special, whether it was as a munchkin in Wizard of Oz to a flower in Alice in Wonderland Summer Workshop. She has never slighted because she has a disability.
I would give 5 stars as I think the productions are very enjoyable and well done community theatre. However the new ticketing system is ridiculously expensive. For a $23 ticket there is a $4 charge. That is an over 17% markup. Then if you pick up your ticket at Will Call it’s an additional $3.00. I have season tickets but occasionally want to bring a guest. Not at that price.
The music theatre of Idaho is a Wonderful non-profit organization that puts on quality musical productions. I became a member after watching some of their shows and it was such a great idea. There is such a sense of community, everyone is valued and the friends Ive made will last me a life time.
I dont know I must have drove past it and Google thought I was there.but even though I wasnt there and know nothing about it I still can review it. Its probably in a building the name of it music theater so you know theater, probably live bunch of actors and actresses and they do a theater thing a show with music.A musical. I dont know but they probably have fresh coffee beer cocktails dancing girls lively crowd with a different show every couple of weeks or so I think. To sum up if I went there I might have fun your guess is as good as mine
I love there people they are the nicest group of people Ive ever met especially mac gene and Alex
While the quality of the shows are very high, in the way of directing they are very lacking. First, the audition process only makes you sing a song, therefore they have no idea whether or not any of those auditioning can act or not. The directors give no direction whatsoever to their actors. While it is good for actors to have some free reign on their characters, it is not good for them to not correct the actors if they are doing something wrong. The Music Theatre of Idaho also requires a large time commitment, forcing their actors to work for hours each Saturday building the set, preparing for the show, and even cleaning the building. Their theatre facility is very dirty, and smells of rotting food. The casting of the shows is almost solely based on if you know the right people and if you are part of the right family. Sadly it is one of very few theatre companies around. I exhort all actors who think of auditioning there to NOT. DO NOT WORK WITH THIS COMPANY
Always a good show, excited to see what they put out in 2020!
MTI is a wonderful company full of great actors. We recently did the show, Matilda the Musical, and the power went out during the big song, Revolting Children. Everyone was supposed by the fact that the children singing that song kept going, even though the mics were off, and the lights were off. This cast was the best cast, and that night when the power went off will be talked about 20 years from now. I’m very excited for Newsies and the shows to come after.
Music Theatre of Idaho is so much more than just a company that puts on shows, it is truly a community. After taking a break from theatre and moving away, we are finally back in the valley and my kids are old enough to perform. It is so magical being able to bring my children back to a community that helped raise me and to see the love and delight in my kids’ eyes. And that’s all in addition to MTI putting on fantastic theatre for the community to enjoy attending as well!
What a fun way to tune in to local talent! I absolutely love introducing my kids to some of my favorite musicals while supporting friends and family members who are performing. The shows are highly entertaining with mostly high-quality talent.
Last night I attended the MTIs musical My Fair Lady. I enjoyed it very much. Eric Pew and especially Mollie Ingram Petty were outstanding in their roles. I would highly recommend My Fair Lady .
Phenomenally amazing and talented company! Fun for all ages and first time participants and enjoyed by a plethora of audiences. Best musical theatre company in the valley!
I worked with MTI and have seen several musicals that they performed and have been impressed with the performances. They were a pleasure to work with and have an amazing family environment, perfect for evenings with your family to relax and enjoy some theatre.
MTI works hard to put on a variety of performances. We’ve been going for over a year now and have enjoyed bringing our kids! It’s a lot of fun!
Great shows with amazing casts a must see in the Treasure Valley.
Lots of fun With MTI! These guys are very professional, kind, and they do great plays! highly Recommend this company.
Great place to see a local community play. Also a great place to do community theater together as a family.
MTI always does a great job. I enjoy going to my local theater to watch them preform!!
I did MTI as a kid and a friend of mine is doing their Beauty and the Beast show this year. DO NOT AUDITION WITH THEM. They only cast main roles to the owners family, they charge you to be in the production, and they ask way too much time of you. Go to Starlight Mountain Theatre.
We love MTI! Thank you for all your wonderful performances, you make our life brighter
I have been a season ticket holder for 15 years. The casts are consistently good and the entertainment value is top-notch. Broadway comes to Nampa 6-8 times a year.
Weve been involved with MTI for close to twenty years. We adore the people and their commitment to quality, family centered entertainment and experiences for all!
A great place for kids to get acquainted with the arts. The actors make up one big family.
My family LOVES going to see shows that the Music Theatre of Idaho Produces! Thinking about auditioning myself.
Went to Your a Good Man Charley Brown. What a fun show!!
My son is a special needs child who loves to act. When I told the director my son was planning on auditioning for the Christmas Carol he said he would make a good tiny Tim Hmmm, I thought. I had to go online to see what kind of disability Tiny Tim had. I tried not to take offense. Later I put him in the summer camp to be in The Lion King. After auditioning for Timon he was given the part of Ed. The crazy cross eyed hyena who laughs and acts like he has no sense! I would not recommend MTOI to anyone with a special needs child! I feel my son was discriminated against and pulled him out of camp. I was told I could not get a refund.
Absolutely love Music Theater of Idaho. Have never been disappointed in a stage performance by MTI and have had seasons tickets for some years.
My daughter is a member here and has been for many years. They have a great staff, with great show selections each year, and are well worth joining
Top notch community musical theatre group. The quality at times surpasses the travelling theatre companies.
This is a great time for a date night out.
Best for my daughter, weve been a member for years
Idaho. You never know what you may find here, good bad, or indifferent. Every now and again, I come across a surprise of such great proportions that I am taken aback and left with tears of joy or sorrow. Last night was one such event, via the abilities and talents of the company members of the Music Theatre of Idaho on the second night of their running production of Sweeney Todd.Since 1979, this production has been electrifying, horrifying and delighting audiences worldwide with graphic gore, in an age old tale, with a twist. Boy meets girl. Boy marries girl, boy and girl have baby and boy gets set up and sent away so that the villain can have his way with the faithful wife. I won’t spoil it for you, in case youve not yet seen this modern day psychopath love story. My advice early on? Just go. You won’t be sorry you spent the money, or time.As for the acting company of the Music Theatre of Idaho, I applaud them. If hand claps were dollars, we’d all be very, very wealthy after last night’s performance. The cast was quite unnerving before the show began, as they locked eyes with incoming and seated audience members using their daunting and dismal stares. They set the scene for what was to come giving a foreboding and intriguing ambiance that left me uncomfortable with some trepidation. I had to look away.Their attire teleported my imagination to a place more than a century gone, that I had only heard stories of as a child. Every actor, whether supporting or leading roles put their best efforts forward and left no doubt that what we were witnessing was either an actual crime, or an actual depiction of some far off reality that has not yet, and God forbid may never touch our sense of reasonable sanity in his day and age. For a brief moments time, I actually felt that I was immersed in late eighteenth century London waiting for the bad guy to ‘get his’.The Orchestra never missed a beat. I question even now, was I listening to a recording, or a live orchestra? Indeed! Yes I saw the conductor, and yes I heard their tuning instruments before the show. They were just that good!!While this may have been one of the more serious morbid plots ever witnessed on stage, one of the actresses held true to live stage values and let slip her comedic side. In supporting role, amongst the patrons of ‘Mrs. Lovett’s meat pie bakery’ A voluptuous young actress who sat enjoying the meaty pie, slipped two meat pies in to her brassiere for ‘later consumption’ as it was assumed, and ‘Mrs. Lovett’ confiscated and or extracted said gooderies from same said hiding spaces. A slip of her hand, a gleam in her eye and the audience members near me erupted with laughter. Brilliantly done, as was the whole of the show. What is a show without mentioning the most important aspect? The scenery! how beautifully crafted and erected was this stage? Give your carpenters and set makes a raise. There is not just one who can be offered accolades for this production. It was all so perfectly done, that the producers of many New York Broadway shows would certainly feel the pressure that this one little musical company out of Tiny Nampa Idaho offers with their production of Sweeney Todd.I have never seen a better stage production anywhere. I left in happy tears. I love a good love story when well told. The entire company, from the Orchestra to the cast put on a show that even Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler would be proud of.
Amazing teachers I learned a lot
