My new favorite place to stay in Myrtle Beach! The check in process was very easy and quick. We were greeted nicely. The sites are well set up and all offer water and power. The walk to the beach was not far at all. The beach access was amazing and was never busy for us, we were always able to find a nice open space. The bath house was very clean and was cleaned pretty often, I was impressed with its cleanliness. We did visit the store also which offers some really good items that you may need while camping. Im excited to come here again soon. Hopefully we can stay longer.

This is a pretty decent park that has access to the beach. The gift shop and pier are both nice. There is a fee to enter the park ($8 per adult). Its about a 4 mile walk along the beach to the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk from the state park gift shop and pier. The picnic area is right across the parking lot from the gift shop.

This park is a breath of fresh air from the surrounding beach campgrounds and hotels. The beachfront is beautiful, the dunes are intact, and the park is well maintained. There are hundreds of camp sites and the facilities are well cleaned and managed. The park staff are exceptional in their customer service and willingness to help. We cant wait to come back!

This park is maybe Myrtle Beachs best kept secret! With over a mile of clean sandy beaches, fun in the sun is never far away.If its trees and wildlife youre looking for, the forest is just a few steps away with lots of nature trails and even a nature center that houses some reptiles and amphibians and even a crab or two!The campground is a world all its own. Its quiet and quaint and everyone is super friendly. Campsites are well appointed and the bathhouses are clean and serviceable.Forgot something? Dont worry the park office gift shop carries grocery items, firewood (I recommend taking it out of plastic immediately to be dry enough to start a fire the first night), toiletries, and lots of sundries for your vacation needs.Park rangers are helpful and friendly. Just mind the rules about the raccoons! A couple came to investigate while we were cooking! This little spot has become our home away from home! 10 out of 10 would recommend!

Good state park on the beach, with some down-sides. We stayed for five nights in October. Site 222 on Circle 5.PROS: Its about a 5-to-10 minute walk to the beach from the campsites. Wide open beautiful beaches, near to pier, good paved walking path along the shore above the beaches. The sites are in the woods with plenty of nice hiking paths and a nature center. Bath houses were convenient and clean. Playgrounds for the kids in the campground and near the beach. Sites are all fairly level sand with some being gravel and have generous spacing between them and between rows for a bit more privacy. Hookups were fairly convenient. Staff was friendly and helpful.CONS: Our site was sand and mud. Two nights of rain caused a torrent of water to flow through our site, causing the outside to be sub-optimal for use for the next three days. WiFi is non-existent -- one bar at best. Cell phone service was also non-existent at the site -- one bar at best. Surprisingly, over-the-air TV reception was also very poor. Being in the woods, bugs are a problem. Sites on Circle 6, at the very back, basically back up to swamp land. Notices abound regarding snakes, etc. Also, the campground is under the landing flight path of the nearby airport. Planes land with regularity until late at night -- you will hear them. Can only imagine what it would be like if flight schedules were normal -- but there were a lot fewer flights due to the pandemic.CONCLUSION: The campground is a quieter and more private alternative to the jam-packed commercial campgrounds with beach access. I can recommend with reservations -- knowing the downsides.

Beautiful expanse of seashore, free fishing pier, clean bathrooms and gift shop. Both the beach and the parking were relatively quiet for the off season, which was nice. Did venture out and spent some time wandering around on the limited trails, that aren’t really mapped out but once you are on them they are easy to follow.

Site 191Stayed five days and wish we could have had more. Awesome SP....couldn’t tell you were in a tourist area once you pull into the trees. It is a big and busy campground but quiet and manageable compared to some others. Love the beach access and our site was awesome. Has some trees in both sides to shield some from the neighbors. I would say circle five and six are the best sites....more privacy and bigger sites. We were able to load the motorcycle into our toy hauler on the site. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Internet speed was perfect as we worked some days. Defiantly will be back.

This is not a beach resort campground. It is a state park campground at the beach. This is a very nice campground and park with picnic shelters, biking/hiking trails, a nature center, fishing pier and easy access to the beach. There are small stores in the campground and at the pier. There is a fee to fish from the pier but free to walk on. Campground roads are paved. Sites are packed sand, mostly level and have plenty of space. If youre not familiar with the area, the park is away from everything but still close enough to easily get in the middle of where everything is. Staff was super friendly. Beach and campground area were nice and clean. We had a nice relaxing week at the beach with no pressure to do everything we normally do when we vacation at the beach. Camping, hiking, biking, grilling and playing on the beach.

Camped here for 4 days & 3 nights. The best part was that there was a laundry area with 5 or 6 washers and just as many dryers. Despite the national coin shortage, the employee at the shop was able to provide quarters in exchange for dollars. Washers and dryers are $2 each. There was also several clean bath houses, none too far from anywhere. Our site was level, had water and sewege, and was nicely shaded. Was a 5 minute walk to get onto the beach. The beach was not even close to crowded, as it was mostly only other campers. There are 3 shower heads and 3 hoses to spray off with.

I had a wonderful day at the beach here. There were enough people on the beach that it felt normal (not eerily pandemic empty, in other words), but we had plenty of space to spread out (group of 9). The Sun was out, the air was hot, and the ocean was delightfully warm. I did a little wading, a little shelling, a little sunning, and a lot of watching the kids having fun. The beach is clean and everyone seemed respectful of each other. Best of all, the vast majority of groups and individuals took away ALL their mess when they left. Id recommend this as a great place to have a day at the beach.

We stayed at the campsite for my daughters birthday. On the plus side:. So close to the beach, with plenty of trails so you can walk right over. The staff in the gift shop are so sweet and helpful. The campground is beautiful and clean. So are the bathrooms which is a definite plus. Its a great site to get away for a weekend. On the con side, the campsites are tiny and really close together. Our neighbor coughed and it sounded like he was in our tent. The roads are one way, so if its dark and you miss your turn, you have to circle the campground and try again (ask my husband how we know that). The pier was closed for repairs while we were there but that didnt detract from our trip. It makes sense to do repairs in the off season, just a warning to others. All in all, we will come back. Small sites dont bother me too much when were only doing a weekend.

A nice cut away from the hustle in the area if myrtle beach. It has some walking trails and a nice pier to fish off of, cheap to camp close to ocean Blvd and other amenities. Obviously a busier camp site. And a air port right on the other side of the road. So very load planes landing and taking off at anytime and all hours, with that and the helicopter tours flying by it gets very annoying when trying to relax. The staff was very friendly and the bathrooms were clean. If you are just wanting to stay in the area and maybe be close to the beach this is a good fit. If you are looking for a quite getaway this may not be the best fit.

Myrtle Beach State Park is a nice park. The park roads are narrow and be cautious of trees and limbs. When the park is busy and you have a camper over 32 feet, a lot of the sites are difficult to get into. For the price of camping in M.B.S.P, I think it could use a little upkeep. The bathhouse in loop 3 was very well kept. Overall a nice place to camp.

I love this campground. Its ocean side, yet the campground is shaded. Family oriented. Loops 5 or 6 are full hookup, but there isnt much privacy between campsites. The cigarette smoke from next door drifted to our campsite. A few dead limbs were hanging over our camper at site 232.

Very nice park with several easily accessible beach accesses. One issue we had was checking in after a big downpour. Our site along with a few others had several inches of water to set our RV up in. I understand camping and rain get messy but there werent many sites that had this issue and it wouldnt take that much to fill in those few low areas in the park. Still a great park and value fo what you get. Will definitely be back.

Great park combining the best of the beach and woodlands. They have a couple of nice nature trails; a nature center; an outdoor recreation area with horseshoes, ladder ball, bocce ball, and cornhole; and a great playground. Combine that with the fishing pier and the nice stretch of beach, it is the perfect family getaway. Some of the campground sites can be tight for longer RVs like our 40 fifth wheel, but most are manageable. We have had a fantastic time here!

So the state park is beautiful and we always seem to find our way there. We love everything about the park! I have seen a ton of reviews and questions about the wildlife and mostly the snakes. There will always be chances of seeing things like this because, well you are in THEIR HOME! BUT my point of this review is to give a honest heads up to campers who are very concerned for running into these snakes. This is a state park and it is in the woods which means there are a ton of creatures lurking...and there are for sure a TON of copperheads just slithering around. We ran into 5 in the 2 days we were there. This is just a heads up to keep your eyes open for them when you are visiting!

Beautiful beach and good camp spots. However, I find the park rules inconsistent. They highlighted absolutely no alcohol rule, but people are allowed to smoke and to have their dogs barking all day long. I am personally a lot more bothered by the smoke that I smelled, and the dogs that I heard. I believe that they should either allow alcoholic beverage consumption, or prohibit all disturbing activities.

Beautiful state park. Sites are dirt though which quickly turn into mud after a good rain. We were at site 16 and found our outside big mats floating. Nice and shady in that site. Moved to 155 and it was a bit bigger, nicer site but not in shade. No rain but I think that site would have been okay. Had great fun riding our bikes all over. Stores were good. Had about anything you need but of course not cheap. I got some cute things though and ice cream one night. Very nice big laundry room and lots of bath houses. Very easy to get to the beach and the beach was nice. No condos in the background which was very nice. Nice long pier behind the main store. Enough dump stations but not made well for emptying RVs because hose wont reach and the actual dumping is even grosser than normal. Tons of campsites and some have full hookups but they are a bit closer together than were used to. Decent price and liked it there alot better than the humongous campgrounds down the road. They are more expensive and super close together. But they have a water park and a lot more amenities than we did which is totally okay. We visited our kids there and they love it. Each to his own.

This park is right on the ocean on the nicest part of Myrtle Beach, SC. The area has everything plus more of what a family might be looking for in a beach vacation, but the state park is tucked away in a natural setting with just enough of what you need to camp and enjoy the ocean. The only negative is that its close to an airport and you will hear both commercial and military planes during the day. This was not enough to change my 5 star rating because it is so quiet and dark at night. Would definately recommend.
