I had visited the aquarium a while ago, but now it is more beautiful, they have renovated it. I really dont know what they did It, but it is fantastic and very careful of biosecurity measures, always an employee of the aquarium walking among the visitors and doing the observance if someone is not wearing the mask and keeping social distance, indisputably beautiful
Lots of fun for the kids. They are fascinated by the sharks and rays. They loved all of the fish, but especially those and the jellyfish. They also really loved the mermaid. They went back to see her 3 times. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I was surprised that the horseshoe crab petting pool is empty. I was told they deemed it insufficient. The moving sidewalk wasnt working either. They have plenty of Covid-19 sanitation stations set up and you HAVE to wear a mask the whole time if you are 6 or older. Dropped a lot of money for tickets, and inside for pictures, snacks, drinks and gift shop (around $300+ for a family of 5). I have stage 4 cancer though and survival odds are very slim so its worth it to make memories for my kids for after Im gone.
Used to go plenty of times before the pandemic. It’s a very expansive and intriguing aquarium! The shark tunnel is quite amazing, but the lines are very long and packed. There are a lot of other exhibits, too- there was one with stingrays you could pet, which was cool. The aquarium is very colorful, and perfect for kids. You can also pet Horseshoe crabs. Overall, this aquarium is a nice attraction on the Grand Strand, although it is often jam-packed with visitors.
Obviously a staple of Myrtle Beach and frequently visited. We all know covid sucks and guidelines must be followed. We would have purchased a family photo at the entrance, but would have been required to wear masks. Not even for a quick photo could we remove our masks. The flow of the aquarium was also pretty strict, but again understandable due to covid. Businesses are adjusting per guidelines of state and local restrictions. Outside that, the exhibits were great and even the quality of architectural design was impressive! I frequent the aquarium in Cleveland Ohio, and was very impressed with health of fish and sharks in every exhibit vs the apparent health of sharks in Ohio with lesions and scarring on most sharks. Our kids had a great time and it was one of their favorite experiences in Myrtle. My only reason for giving 4 and not 5 stars was the price. It was nearly double the price as our hometown aquarium. Just because its Myrtle doesnt mean it should cost double. With the number of daily visitors, prices should be fair and considerate. 2 adults, a 4 year old and a 1 year old was still $90. There was also ample bus parking as my son always has his bus in hand!
Great aquarium, check what is open though mermaid cove as well as the penguin tunnels and the telly fish touching was not available - probably due to covid-19, but still you are paying close to $40 dollars for the full experience for an adult $26 for a child over 2 years so maybe find out if they are fully open. That being said the tunnel was a wonder. There are a lot of interactive activities feed the rays touch the ways nobs and gizmos. It was great still
A bit expensive considering quite a few things were closed. The shark tunnel was great but the motorized sidewalk wasnt working and the lights were off on one side. Penguin exhibit was smaller than expected but the were super cute. Glad they were able to have the stingray touching tank and my granddaughter lived the mermaid. A lot of different jellyfish. The gift shop had a huge selection of items. Masks required and a lot of sanitizer stations. Good time.
Great place for kids to learn and explore. It was nice, clean and secure. My favorite things were petting the sting rays, jelly planet and the shark tunnel.
This Aquarium was a great add to our vacation. It did not take long to complete and there were alot of cool animals. The shark tank was really so much fun. We also got to feed the stingray. This is a must for me when we go to Aquariums. The gentleman was very nice and showed me how to place the food on a stick to feed. We got to touch them as well. They had bathroom located near by to wash after and they also had sanitizer all though the Aquarium to stay clean and help prevent the spread of germs. Must go !
We go here every year when we go on vacation. We always get a picture to show how much our daughter has grown. Its one of our most favorite places to visit. The penguins were a awesome surprise this year! They are the coolest things Ive seen in a long time!
Such a fun place for kids and adults. So much to explore and learn. Would definitely go back. Its exspensive but its completely worth it.
Beautiful place to spend an hours or two with the kids. Ours was super excited. Al of the crawling spaces for kids where closed due to the covid19. But the Fishes sharks jelly fishes and octopuses are waiting to be admired and pictured. A lot of fun.The only reason I am not giving this place 5* is because is a little over priced 34$ for admission is a little to much.
Love this Aquriaum! Its fun and has lots to see. My 3 year old son can spend hours here. We just left after 3 hours of fun. The stingrays are his favorite we spend most of our time there.
I really like this place, we were here two years ago, I came here a second time with great pleasure. Appeared in the aquarium,Penguins, very funny and interesting birds . I highly recommend visiting this place. Entrance costs 35 USD + taxes
The penguins were awesome. Also loved the sharks. Walking in the tunnel with all of them swimming overhead was breathtaking. It isnt a huge place, so it didnt take a long time to see it all. It was very interesting and beautiful. I will definitely go back.
We enjoy sea life and aquariums. We tried this for the tunnel of water exhibit which was amazing. The view is something that you don’t get at other places. We took out time and enjoyed the sharks. The groups with kids, moved through quickly which might have been a loss for the adults to really take in the views. They did have a few exhibits closed which was disappointing but understandable due to COVID.The only catch was that they up charged to add another attraction which we found out was not on the premises. We probably would not have bought the package if we knew we had to go to another location, such as the Ripley’s Believe It or Not. It did end up good as we did enjoy Ripley’s Believe It or Not.
I Love That Place Is my favorite Field Trip.
Plenty of things to see and the penguins are adorable! Takes about 1.5-2 hours to walk through and see everything, I was impressed with the tunnel you walk through because the sharks swim right over your head!
We were so fortunate to go near the off season. The shark area normally would require you to be on a conveyor belt to keep you moving through but it was not on, allowing us to take our time. So awesome.
Its a nice aquarium with lots to do and see. Its less than 40 dollars a person and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The gift shop is reasonably priced and it has a wonderful air conditioning system!
Omg! My husband and I had so much fun i thought I was a kid again. Its a must see. The tank with the sharks is an experience all by itself. I love this place! Great for adults and children. Texas needs to step up their game. Come on Grapevine give us more. Have fun yall!
Fantastic aquarium that is truly focused on public access and education. Even in times when it can be tough to accommodate the public they have made a great commitment to safety while still providing a great experience. I have visited this place many times through the years and is always worth the trip.
We were pleased with our visit. The Penguins were super cute and fun to watch. I loved seeing the different types of fish that you don’t find at regular aquariums. The shark exhibit was amazing. You could really see the teeth up close. And when it was time to check out I have to give a huge shout out to Alec and Jeremiah in the gift shops. Alec was so patient in helping my youngest daughter pick out a souvenir. And Jeremiah was extra patient when all of my children checked out individually as they were spending their own money.
Great place to take the family. My children are grown and we still had a wonderful time.
Great time even though cpl of the attractions was closed due to covid. The wife and I had a wonderful time together!
Ive been twice, once as a child and now as an adult! Its a must see for everyone!! The pics dont do this experience any justice!! We got in free from doing a tour with Wyndham so FREE felt really good!!
The aquarium was amazing, very few people there so we practically had the place to ourselves
Decent visit. Kids loved the fish. Neat items in the gift shops. They closed both restrooms at the same time I explained this to the lady at the front desk 4 times before she realized that both restrooms were closed. Not fun trying to find a restroom for 20 minutes with a 5 year old needing to go!
Was fun, many different exhibits. Not everything was open due to covid! But was still enjoyable.
Were from the Baltimore area which has a world class aquarium so we went here with limited expectations. The shark tunnel blew us away. Its a whole new way to view sharks and other fish up close that our aquarium doesnt have. We spent almost 3 hours here in awe!
Nice place to visit lots of things to see. Nice for the family. People are very nice. Place is very very clean. These are the cleanest public restrooms I have ever seen..
Best Aquarium we have been to for shark display/ walk through. Price is a little high but you can find coupons/ discounted tickets. Our whole family had a blast we would visit again and recommend you any who is in myrtle beach for a family vacation
Cool aquarium at the Broadway at the Beach. Lots of neat exhibits that extend out from a central hub, though due to Covid they had it set up to maintain a flow of traffic in a singular direction for the most part. Lots of informational displays and placards at exhibits. I would suggest they have a better presence of employees throughout the building because there were a lot of people letting their kids run wild, climbing on ledges and banging on the glass.Overall a really fun inside activity in Myrtle Beach.
The price is a bit high. They are taking great measures to protect guests from COVID. The animals are all beautiful, although I was expecting more variety. The gift shop is very affordable and the landscaping is well done!
The shark tunnel was incredible!! That alone might have been worth the price. A few of the touch things were closed but the touch a sting ray was open. We enjoyed our experience at Ripleys Aquarium.
Had a wonderful time even through this covid 19. Everything was so clean and hand sanitizer was located throughout. I took my daughter and son in law and the grandbabies. We all enjoyed it very much. Definitely will do again.
Nice experience a little costly took about 35-45 min to go through the aquarium. Masks required and its pretty hard to maintain social distancing but just be careful and have fun. I recommend going on a weekday morning or afternoon. We went on a Wednesday mid afternoon and it wasnt too bad.
I love the displays. One of my favorite aquariums. There were small children running wild which mildly took away from the enjoyment but the staff was friendly and helpful.
The aquarium was fun for the kids. It didnt make since to sell refreshments but shut down the seating area. The girls loved meeting the mermaid. They could have added more hand sanitizer areas. I also didnt see anyone cleaning frequently.
It was not to bad the shark tank was by far the best part. The hands on feeling the stingrays and the sharks was nice. Just a little to pricey to me.
Fun for the kids. A lot of things are shut down because of Covid but it comes as expected. Would definitely go back.
Such a great aquarium, they had so many interesting species. The exhibits were beautiful and well done! We spent a about 1.5 there, we got there early on a Wednesday and we almost had the place to ourselves. I am disappointed that they had the jellyfish touch closed, it was the whole reason we went. But still a fun day
Totally awesome!!! The penguins were my favorite!! Even thought it is a Ripleys place, there were no odd items there. But it was a great aquarium with a lot of creatures to see. The sharks were great as well!!
Wonderful aquarium! Very clean, great place to visit. Something for everyone to see and do. Interesting and educational. Absolutely loved the new penguin exhibit.
Wonderful place, they had penguins, sharks, and even cuttlefish. Everything was listed using LCDs which was nice and the place was quite roomy.
I really loved this place the shark tunnel was my favorite part
Sharks for days...lol. I loved seeing the new penguin exhibit. So much to see and not enough room to list it all. Great experience.
Great place for entire family. Even the parents will have a blast. The sharks were breathtaking... really every creature was lol!!*** Hand sanitizer stations are all throughout the building. Making it easier to have a fun and safe ADVENTURE!
Small but REALLY good jelly fish, sting ray area, and the BEST shark tunnel Ive ever seen. (We love aquariums and go wherever we go on vacation). Also had piranhas!
Kind of a small aquarium couple interactive exhibits that were nice. The petting stingrays and sharks were pretty neat. The shark tank was cool. The penguin exhibit was overrated. The air conditioning was good and a hot day and the gift shop is pretty nice.
We visited a couple of years ago and they have made quite a few changes since then. Its expensive to visit and its on the small side so it doesnt take long to go through. Its great for children with short attention spans.
Decent aquarium with a lot of potential to be wonderful, but the current asking price for tickets is far from worth it with everything closed. It is understandable that certain features and attractions cannot be accommodated due to COVID-19, but if primary features are no longer available, how can the $37/ticket price be justified?Additionally, my group/family had an 80 year old woman with us, and we confirmed ahead that the facility was wheelchair accessible. While it technically was navigable with a wheelchair, it was far from accessible. The gift shop was fit to bust with clutter all over the floor, so two of us were constantly clearing the walkspace just to be able to wheel grandmother through. Keep in mind, our trip was during the “off season”, so it was not really busy. People being in the way was far less of an issue than the facility simply not having adequate accommodations for immobile persons.Overall, I think this aquarium is worth a look if you have children under 12. The 6 month old that accompanied us had a blast, but all of the adults were sorely disappointed in how little there was to do considering the asking price for entry. Further, we felt misled regarding the ease of access for wheelchair bound individuals, so we were left with quite a bad taste in our mouth. For families with small children, I would loosely recommend. Your little ones will love the sharks and other remarkable fish on display. For other groups primarily comprised of adults or teenagers, I’d advise against spending your money here, unless you have coupons. Considering certain limitations brought about by a need for social distancing, I think nothing over $25/ticket can be justified. I think there are far more affordable and engaging activities in Myrtle beach that are priced more fairly for the entire family to enjoy.
Very nice aquarium so much bigger than VA Beach. Very clean and COVID friendly. Very safe! Love the fish life and I think this was the longest tunnel in an aquarium that weve seen this far!
We were very excited to visit this aquarium after hearing great things but the man at the ticket window did not talk to us after we asked two questions, very disrespectful obviously and the prices were outrageous, this place would have been fun, but the first guy we interacted with gave us the feeling that we weren’t wanted.
For a few extra dollars, we couldve visited an actual aquarium in Atlanta or Baltimore. By no means would I consider this an aquarium. We were done with the entire thing in less than 2 hours and thats with me dragging it out and waiting to touch a stingray and a tiny shark. For $80 thats not much entertainment. The website makes it look fun but its a tiny exhibit compared to others weve been to. Its worth maybe half of the price of what we paid. There were 6 or 7 separate areas and they were all very small. We have something like this in our mall that is maybe $15-$20 to enter.
Great place to kill some time and see some beautiful creatures. It is on the expensive side so I recommend trying to find some deals if you can (through your hotel or websites). Some attractions inaide closed but still a fun little place to visit
Great visit! This place has some great exhibits, amaz ing shark tunnel.
Definitely worth a stop!! We did not attend and additional options. The $35 to walk the space was just right for us.The penguins were super cute. The shark tunnel was awesome. We could have hung out there for a good hour or more just staring at all the fish swimming. Im sad I couldnt find Gabby the turtle, but it was fun looking. We petted some stingrays and could have a small shark but passed on that option. At least a good 2 hours of entertainment. Covid-19: Masks were required. Lots of hand sanitizer around. Good social distancing. All employees in masks.
ITS OKAY. its a tourist trap. Dont get me wrong I enjoyed it. They have jelly fish, horseshoe crab, shrimp, and stingray touching. How many times do you get to do that? Its so expensive though. Just go through the attractions and dont do the things on the side, its not worth it. Very cool fish inside and staff is awesome. It was clean yet crowded. However, I went when it was half off the aquarium. So I expected it to be crowded. Lots of little kids that needed to be on a leash or left at home. I almost ran a group of toddlers over because they just walk all over the place. However, it was still an very enjoyable way to spend the day.
This is a great experience, but not worth the cost at all. It’s by far the smallest aquarium I have ever been so and yet one of the most expensive too. The shark tunnel was cool. The penguin exhibit is not really that big at all, very small and underwhelming. Due to Covid they do not have any of crawl through tunnels for the kids open. We lost the fun of the experience when we could not crawl through these. It was kind of crowded, we had to wait in the rain to get a ticket since the ticket booth was outside. Once inside it was still very crowded. If you are worried about Covid, they keep a clean building, with people walking around cleaning surfaces often, arrows for everyone to follow, and masks are required throughout the entire building. It was fun to see the fish, we just wish there was more to see since we spent so much money on entry.
Not worth going to, during covid, if you have kids.everything is closed off. Not worth paying the price to only walk around. As for walking thru and seeing the fish its cool and alot of fun. Alot of fish you dont see else where.
Omg this place was amazing. Ive been to quit a few aquariums and this one is top 3. So beautiful and open, staff was friendly, 95% of the guest used masks and obeying COVID-19 safety measures in place and guest were all responsible and respectful to one another, i absolutely love penguins abd the penguins display exhibit was so awesome i just wish we could of went in the tunnel system they had to go in the tank and see them thats the only thing we couldnt do but besides that omg. A great time their today and i would highly recommend.
An amzing place for you and your family/friends to spend some time...An amazing and engaged team always ready to give you some detail and knowledge about wildlife and sea life...Enjoy the penguins, or just relax going threw the shark tunnel...a must stop at Broadway at the beach
Soo much better then other aquariums ive been to! Also this establishment did a great job at enforcing COVID-19 guidelines.
My family and I visited for labor day. The aquarium was amazing! Best I have ever been to. I have never been up and close with a shark before
The kids LOVE this place! Great place to spend an afternoon. Clean environment, friendly staff.
Pretty cool. The shark area was the best part.
Went here for my sins 5th birthday and got to pet Sting Rays, super cool jelly fish. We especially loved the sword fishs face. My son ended up playing with the penguins with a light up sword and Angel followed and played with him for almost an hour. It was amazing. They were super clean and everyone was on top of keeping things COVID square. We had an amazing experience! thanks Ripleys
Good variety of sealife to see in a well organized path, the penguins were fantastic as you got up close to them .This would be suitable for all ages and even though some things are closed for the pandemic you dont feel cheated out of a full experience. My one complaint was not knowing about the massive discount available not 100ft away in the tourist info centre, it would have dropped me and my wifes $60 entry down to $20, now a little discount missed we dont mind but thats an awful lot to miss out on.Still despite that small point its well worth a trip and after youve been there is a ton more to do right outside so its easily a day out.
It was my first time taking a tour of an aquarium. I had an amazing time. I believe that I was more excited than the children. Im ready to go back again
My favorite place to go when Im visiting Myrtle Beach. Good night life, a variety of unique shops and restaurants, multiple boardwalks, and limited attractions. However, the shops and restaurants are not cheap. They will cost you a good amount of money for food and items. I can tell you that the Auntie Annes large fountain drink cost $4... However, the reason this review doesnt loose a star is because you dont need to buy anything in order to have a good time.Broadway at the Beach is not only great, its even better at night. Lights shine everywhere and can really look amazing. The variety of stores can keep you entertained for hours upon hours, even if you dont buy anything! Some of the stores are entirely dedicated to hot sauce, gags, beef jerky, pearls, and much more. The boardwalks are amazing too. For only 25 cents you can feed a whole bunch of fish, ducks, and maybe even a turtle (if youre lucky!).Restaurants are around every corner and can sell a variety of foods ranging from Mexican, American, and unique restaurants that sell pure burgers and etc.Overall, Broadway at the Beach is an amazing place for amazing memories, with or without money.
I’ve been going to this aquarium for many years now, and it continues to amaze me. It’s grown so much since it opened, and is super clean with nice and helpful staff members. It’s my favorite aquarium/attraction to stop by while in Myrtle Beach, it’s very family-friendly. 5/5 stars.
Great family experience lots to see from penguins to touching jellyfish..
Covid update, I went here last year it was amazing they had cleaner shrimp you you touch. They had jellyfish u could pet and they had all new penguin exhibit and pirate exbit all was closed and couldnt do any interactive exibts honestly was disappointed they could of made you wear gloves or something. Paid full price to get to do half the things
Love seeing the penguins!! The shark tanks are great. You can tell they care about their animals. Kids alway have a blast
Had a wonderful time today. My son has autism and it was definitely a very sensory friendly environment. The staff was all very nice. It was very clean and I saw many employees around keeping it that way. Restrooms were very clean too. The gift shop was also very reasonably priced considering it is a large attraction and usually prices are very high, even for small toys. We did not get any food so I cant say how the prices are there but my guess would be average for an aquarium. Overall, a wonderful experience and I wish that our local aquarium was this nice!! Thanks for a memorable trip!
Overall a pleasant experience. It was very fun for my 3 year old. Had I not had my child I would have probably skipped out on it. My only complaint is that we payed for the aquarium and 2 attractions, which made the price go up about $45 between the 3 of us, once we got inside we found out that all of the attractions were closed due to Covid. We were not warned while buying our tickets nor was it posted anywhere outside, only at the attractions themselves. Just make sure to ask before purchasing as we were not given a refund.
Love Ripleys. My first visit. Was great
Very cool place to visit. Quite an array of marine life to see and enjoy. The displays are very beautiful. Both the kids and adults, enjoyed the visit.
We love Ripleys Aquarium! We go everytime we come into town. Perfect family outing.Be careful with the paper bags at the gift shop! The handles break very easily so buy a tote if you get a mug or something breakable. I dropped my mug because the handle broke. I went back and explained what happened and they exchanged no problem. I bought a tote bag to just to be safe.
Visited on Memorial Day weekend, during Covid pandemic, and although the hands-on experiences were Temporarily Shut Down, we still enjoyed it. First time for myself and kids, and it was truly a one of a kind experience. The staff were kind, and they had a well prepped plan to maintain social distancing and disinfecting every single inch of touched surfaces. It was awesome!!
This place is the best and it will be even better once they can open up everything inside I highly recommend this place for everyone of all ages the new penguin exhibits are great I was surprised at how many theyre were
Nice family experience...has handicap available spots and offered plenty of things to do with general admission and more for more money.... decent price and kid friendly.... couldnt experience to full degree because of COVID closing vegetation certain certain things like jellyfish touching etc. Didnt buy food or drink.... but small baby shark toy in gift shop was slightly less than $10.....typical tourist attraction pricing for souvenirs
Had an amazing time swimming with the sting rays, feeding the sting rays and just hanging out with the rays. Alex was amazing and knowledgeable about the rays during my swim. Rose helped me feed them the day prior to the swim. Overall the staff was great, the exhibits were fun, and the penguins feeding time was really fun to watch. Highly recommed!
Omg Amazing!! U get alot to see & do for the price! Very cheap considering what u get to see & touch! The best for us was the tank that surrounds u w sharks, stingrays etc all around in ir face! Had the best time w my daughter cant wait to go again!!!
Great experience! Well worth the cost if only for the Shark Tunnel! Definitely try the mini-donuts on the 2nd floor and be sure to pet the stingrays.
Its way too expensive for what you get to see. We spent $78 for 2 people. The worst part though was the social distancing and mask wearers, or lack thereof. They have a notice that plays over their loud speaker every 10 minutes or so that they appreciate people wearing masks and keeping their distance but there were several people not wearing a mask or wearing it loosely on one ear and virtually nobody was following the social distancing protocol. Its impossible to be safe when the people around you dont care. Its no wonder our COVID numbers are so bad. We were standing on the floor markings in line and through the aquarium trying to follow the outlined safe practices but most folks were ignoring it completely and there isnt anyone enforcing it. I understand its difficult to create too much space when everyone is stopping to see the same attractions and displays, but I didnt see an employee anywhere to enforce distance. In fact I didnt see an employee anywhere passed the ticket counter outside of the gift shop areas the entire time we were there. Between walking in and walking out its a free-for-all. For $80 we expected a better experience.
This was better than I expected! There is an area that allows you to walk under the water where all of the sharks and big fish are and it was amazing! Definitely worth the the money and time to go there.
With several attractions closed, like the petting pool (except the ray area), I dont feel like $37 per adult is worth walking through the aquarium with nothing else to do.The shark tunnel is amazing . The jellyfish area is sparse but pretty with the neon lights changing their colors. Gift shop was nice. The penguins were kind of cute.It was okay. Great for those under 12. Any aquatic enthusiast adults will likely find lackluster.Taking price and lack of interest into consideration, 3/5. Would go once, but not repeatedly. Resist once every 10 or so years.
Ripleys aquarium is one of the more entertaining attractions that they offer. Although I still think its quite over priced, its still fun to visit even if once a year. Weve been at least once over the last 6 or 7 years and the only major change was the new Penguin exhibit for this year. If it werent for our kids, we probably wouldnt go just because once youve seen it one time, youve seen all of it.
Go to see the penguins!! They are adorable. Not all exhibits open due to Covid, so expect to see things closed. The shark tunnel is awesome too!!
This is a great place for families with small children. Staff is very interactive and the many colorful attractions will keep kids engaged.
That was one of the best aquariums Ive been to. Loved it. Pics are from there.
This place is huge. I didnt think we were ever going to get out. I really enjoyed myself and especially seeing all the Christmas trees from every state.
Its a nice place. Not as big as I would of hoped. Sad that most of the interactive has to be off limits right now.
All the exhibits had creatures. It was very clean even the bathrooms. And the shark tunnel and penguins was exceptional.
Great place also offers a first responder discount. The place isn’t that big, so not many different types of fish, but the quality is great especially the shark tanks.
Awesome aquarium. The shark exhibit is incredible.
Very Family Fun great for people on vacation exploring attractions or Aquarium lovers. Tight Spaces so it was over crowded alot like to stop right in the middle of the walk space but for everything it offers it nice a little pricey though but great family fun
