Gorgeous views and fun rock formations. Lots of stairs on the paths plus some fairly steep climbs. But our multi age party made it fine. The Punch Bowl is a MUST SEE.

So much fun and such a beautiful park. Highly recommend coming here with family. We did the Gorge trail and everyone loved it. Our 4-6 year olds hiked the entire trail.

This state park has a couple nice picnic areas and a good loop of a trail. The trail was pretty slippery the first time I went this summer, so more gravel would help. The second trip was great to go on the whole loop of the trail. That was about 3 and a half miles or so.

Very cool park with beautiful views. The trail marking system is awful. If you choose to hike the park boundary trail, beware that this is not a simple loop trail like the trail map indicates. There are multiple branching areas. Good luck to whoever ventures out on that trail and finding their way around as there is zero signage.

A great place to hike. My wife and I took our 3 kids there to hike (ages 5, 3, and almost 2). We stopped at the mill and enjoyed the view from the bridge, hiked down the train to a dead-end turned back then drove to another parking lot in the park. Not many strollerable trails. There were many stairs that were navigable for the kids (though my almost 2yr old needed some help in a few areas). Beautiful area and a fun hike! I suggest parking in the lot on the north side of the park for easier access to the cliff features if hiking with kids.

Absolutely beautiful treasure of a park in eastern Iowa. The trails are fairly steep but wide, and there is an abundance of gorgeous rock formations - mainly erosion patterns and carved out channels. The geology and relative isolation mean that you wont be hearing a lot of highway sounds. Just a host of birds and other creatures! A perfect place for adventuresome families.Camping is available at a site without water or electrical hookups. There is a modern bathroom facility at the nearby historic milk, if you need a flush toilet.I cant recommend this park enough. A genuine treasure. Im excited to visit again soon!

It has great trails. My whole family had a lot of fun. We only wish the trails were marked better. A trails lead into other trails and it is not clearly marked when you move onto another trail. The map is not very clear either. Overall we had a great adventure.

Great park and amazing hike for our 3 year old to do too! Trails were perfect for our family of 3 and our dog. 2x2 was the easiest and had nice lookouts. Even though the mill is closed the Pine Creek Dam and bridge to look at it were very nice too.

Start at punch bowl trail. You get to go down a ton of stairs to view a canyon like water area. Keep going all the way because if you turn around you will miss the best parts of this park. You will reach fat man squeeze and the bobcat dens. You will know you made it because you will see a parking lot on the bottom of a hill to your right. Plus it will have been the hardest upward climb yet through the tightest rock formations. If you stick to the left and go past the parking lot it rounds around up to a road. Take the road to the left and it will lead you back to your car after a 30 minute uphill hike. There are curbs you can sit on to recover a bit. It is easier than walking back uphill through the punchbowl plus you will have enjoyed the park thoroughly.

Excellent scenery, great experience for the whole family to enjoy the outdoors! Wildcat Den state park has always been one of my favorite outdoor attractions growing up as a kid to present day. The park has multiple camping grounds from RV to tent camping, endless hiking trails, caves and historic buildings. If you have never been to the Wildcat Den State Park I highly encourage you to take the time to experience all that it has to offer.

Family visited this State Park to try out some of the hiking trails and to visit the historical Grist Mill. The fall scenery here is beautiful, as is the landscape. Hiking trails can pose some difficulties for smaller children or adults who may have difficulties walking over uneven terrain. You can try out one of the picnic areas after your hike and enjoy a snack or a picnic meal. Great place to visit and bring your family. Ive heard the camping sites at this park are decent as well.

Awesome state park just only 30 min from the Quad Cities area.New to town from MSP and was looking for a place to go hiking/ camping. This is definitely the spot. We will definitely be back!Park is super clean with LOTS of steep hills to climb and a little over 7 miles of UNPAVED trails. The park offers different camp site locations including SMALL RVs. There are public restrooms that are clean with running water. All the camp sites have built in grills for cooking and parking is super convenient and FREE!

Amazing! 10/10. Ill definitely being going back sometime soon. I feel as if havent even scratched the surface of what the park has to offer. The mill is very incredible and so was the waterfall next to it. The creek was fun to walk by and see all of the animal footsteps in the mud. I believe I saw beaver footsteps and deer footsteps. I also enjoyed the hike to the top of the giant Fat Man Squeeze. The view was magical and it was also amazing to see how people have carved their names in the canyon. It was interesting to see how some people had written the year they came to Wildcat Den in. Someone had written their name in 1934. It is cool to see how the trend from years ago is still happening today. 10/10. I will come back soon!

We bamboozled the crowds by going on a day that was forecasted to rain but we knew it wasnt. This place is so cool. We took the pine creek trail into the loop, went along the cliffs to the fat man squeeze (youll know it when you see it) we went up through it, along the picnic area trail to the park boundary trail. This is the easiest trail of all of them. 1.8 miles of deciduous, prairie and pine groves. There are extra trails so make sure you have a trail map so you know which ones to take. You go behind a church, through the campground, and down into the devils punchbowl. It was 88 degrees out and in the punch bowl it was probably 70. Coming down into it, it looks like a hikers playground and it truly is. After we were done exploring, we got on the pine creek trail back to the car. Would totally go back if Im in the Davenport area again. Anyone should take the great river road into or going out from the park no matter what though. Its a beautiful highway even just the stretch between Muscatine and Davenport.

Beautiful place to visit. Very well-maintained. We got here at 9am on a Saturday morning to go on a hike. Not crowded. Plenty of tree cover. So green! Hike trailheads are not marked on Google Maps, and are hard to see from a car. We parked and walked around until we found one and there are paper maps at each trailhead, which was a saving grace. We hiked from the campground to Pine Grist Mill and back another way. Will definitely return!

Always a fun place to hike, and just a short drive from town. The only thing I would like to see the state do, is create trail signs. As of right now, there are none.
