The facility is clean. The front desk staff are hit or miss in terms of being inviting and just plain nice. I’ve questioned whether the community in community center could be applicable as I wasn’t really made to feel part of the community but my son and I returned numerous times for the swimming so I guess it doesn’t matter. The facility served its purpose. I will continue coming back my son benefits from swimming.

I was here to referee Adult volleyball. I went in, got my temperature taken and went into the gym. Between pools, they came and sanitized the entire area.

I’ve been going to the Murray Rec center for 8 years and this is the last. I used to be able to always get a good workout in but now it’s just too crowded. The staff rarely if ever greets you when you come in, even if you greet them. They continue to pack more and more equipment into a weight room that already had too little space to use if there’s anything more than just a couple people in the gym. The local fire department uses the facility regularly, which is obviously nice they get to use, but they bring in their dispatch radio that they turn up loud so everyone that wants to have a conversation or enjoy the music being played over the speakers instead gets treated to sudden loud bursts of dispatch operators calling out details of traffic accidents and fires. Enjoy that! There are a couple groups of juveniles from a youth home that show up regularly that will take over large areas but not utilize the machinery, just make sure you can’t use it. Oh, you want to run on the track? They’ll be there too, going the wrong way and blocking all three lanes.I’d written an email to the director (at a front desk worker’s suggestion) detailing my concerns and asking if anything could be done and received no reply. I’ve politely asked at the desk before that someone please help when matters are occurring but It’s never resulted in staff doing anything more than telling me “okay. We’ll check on it,” only to watch nothing happen.I’m glad so many people are able to utilize the center but I’m no longer able to get a workout in, not without a lot of frustration and waiting. Commercial gyms are not my thing but at least when I’m paying money there I can actually get a workout in. I’m sorry to let go of the rec center but it’s no longer worth it.

First time going there. The water are for my 16 month old was awesome. Cant wait for him to be slightly more autonomous, feel like he would love it even more.

Great place to practice sports and spend family time. The pool and the gym are great. Trx classes are awesome!

We only went to the indoor pool on this visit but it was an awesome place for kids! We will definitely be going back.

I like going here. I enjoy it better than going to a gym chain. They try to keep the equipment clean, updated and fixed. Recently they have turned the upstairs track into an area for the CARDIO machines. They have spaced out the equipment due to the pandemic.

Great park. Lots to go and also lists of places to relax and do nothing.

Come here to workout and swim staff is often welcoming.

This park is always clean and nice good place to hang out, have the family, and have fun. Plenty of room for social distancing as well.

I love this place. It has something for everyone. Two indoor pools, one lap, one for kids with toys and a slide. An out for pool. Fitness center, classes, etc.

Okay for adults but lacking for children. Needs to add a few things to compete with other rec centers. More ping ping tables, Racquetball, kids room, climbing/bouldering room. Its been almost the exact same since it was built... Time to for an update.

We went for a competitive swim meet for my children. The pool was a bit on the warm side for a competition and not nearly enough spectator seating inside the pool. Overflow was in the gym, which was freezing for wet swimmers. The meet ran well. I walked the upstairs track and used the functional equipment between events. Everything was clean, and some equipment was newer. Overall a three. Functional, but not fantastic for a large swim meet.

Great community recreation center, has 3 pools, large multi area gymnasium, weight room and all the other standard fitness center needs. Bonus is discount on membership and fees for Murray residents!

I was there because my son had a birthday party. I went into the pool area to get my son. I had my service dog with me. She is there for my health and safety not for fun. The people working there told me I couldn’t take my dog in the pool I explained that she wasn’t getting in the pool because she’s not supposed to but she’s just walking with me to get my son. They wanted me to leave my service dog to get him. So they were willing to risk my safety. I told them she is not going to get near the water. She is better trained than that. They eventually let me get my son, but they were very rude. You need to train your employees on the ADA laws. I wasn’t going swimming, I was just picking my son up from a birthday party. I’m calling and talking to management. TRAIN YOUR EMPLOYEES ON ADA LAWS!!! I could have passed out or gotten hurt.

They dont allow swimming on Saturdays. Got kicked out twice now because they needed the entire swimming area for a small class. Dont think Ill pay to come here again on my only day off.

My kids love this pool and the water is the perfect hight and temp. I do think they should refrain from having swim lessons during open plunge,the life guards have to blow their whistles every 5 minutes to get the kids out of the way of the swim lessons in progress.

New equipment at the gym. Sucks they should ask people what should be the best equipment. They tooked the best machines away. Just cuz is new doesnt mean its better. They arent the ones working out.

A great neighborhood recreation center but in need of some maintenance. Murray City has done a great job of providing a facility that everyone in the community can enjoy, but it really is starting to crack a bit leaving holes in the sidewalks out front that could lead to twisting an ankle. A little maintenance would go a long way. Accessibility is good and the pool is fun. The lifeguards seemed sorry and responsive and they do a good job of checking the pill every hour. Takes about 10 mines right before the hour. The pool closes 15 minutes earlier than the rest of the center but is open later than many other public rec centers.

The lifeguards and management need to pay attention to make sure those who should be wearing swim diapers are. Need to have regular pool breaks to check for things that shouldnt be in the pool. Last time I was there I told a lifeguard there was poop floating in the pool. They evacuated the pool and I saw a lifeguard scooping more poop into a trash bag that another guard was holding. Totally disgusting. Not sure that I will ever go back there. I understand accidents do happen, but management and guards needs to be more proactive.

Great activities available including a walking track, first rate exercise equipment. Classes are available for seniors for fitness and water aerobics.

Fun for the whole family as well as great space to workout for mom and dad! The pool has a playground. They offer childcare with advance notice. Walking track upstairs. Plenty of cardio machines available for use. The weight room is great, other users are courteous and follow rules for shared equipment. They have free weights and machines. There is also plenty of space for if you need to grab a mat and spread out, as well as other designated areas throughout the building for stretching, foam rolling, yoga ball, etc. There is a basketball court, and pool and ping pong tables.

We love the indoor pool, and the outdoor pool. Our daughter has been taking swim lessons here for years. Most of the teachers are pretty good and the prices are great.We haven’t used the other facilities, so I’m not sure how those compare.During the summer, or when there’s lots of activities, parking can be pretty tricky.

Just got to the Rec center with my 2 young children at 4:30 and was told that the pool area would be closed to the public at 5:50. I paid the $5 day pass, we walk in the pool and the lifeguard tells everyone they have to get out. It’s not even 5 yet. I mean what the hell? If you close early to the public it’s not a day pass anymore is it? It should be discounted. Now we’re just sitting here waiting for the go ahead to go back in. First time here as a Salt Lake County resident and I’m disappointed.

Really nice facility, but there’s no supervision over the weight room. There’s often middle and high schoolers allowed in there who don’t know how to use the equipment, don’t have proper gym etiquette or just hang around and talk. Very tempted to find a new gym.

Great place for the whole family. Theres something for every age group and they have activities that range from swimming lessons to being on a swim team definitely a great place!

Loved the play area in the pool. The water is a little too warm and the lifeguards having to get every one out like every 30 minutes for 10 minute breaks got a little ridiculous.

The pool always has to close early and no refunds even if you just get there. The longest we have been able to swim was 2 hours. Always bandaids floating in the pools. Distracted lifeguards. Not pleased at all

Went to my granddaughter and grandsons rugby games. The fields were nice but parking very limited.

Do you need to workout? Well come run on the indoor track it takes 10 laps to make a mile. Also you can swim in the kids pool or the lap pool. The kids pool has just been redone and is quite a bit safer with a better floor put in. It is a good family place to come and have fun.

From swim to birthday parties to open volleyball and basketball. This place is fun for the entire family.

They care more about their programs then the members. Have to many restrictions on the pools. They dont give resident discounts really a waste of money....

Keep your things close by or locked up. This place has a huge theft problem and no security to speak of (zero cameras) to help identify the thieves and get your things back once they have been stolen.

Undertrained staff in recent years.Discontinued swim lessons, and searching for new options for our children after a less than enjoyable experience watching a swim instructor that may not have know what he was doing. Several times worried if I needed to jump in myself to grab my 8 year old. This was after 5 years of my older son making it to the swim team level. This was a 5 star review once. There are other places.

Not sure why I see such negative reviews. I come during the day and dont see the crowds and maybe that is why my review is 5 star. A good variety of machines to get all the muscle groups. About the only negative I see is people will stay on a machine while talking to their neighbor. I just poke my nose in and ask if they are finished. They usually apologize and move on. Everything is summed up on the front door. Kindness is everything

Great place to work out as well as a place to bring the family. The leisure pool is just right for the kids and the water temperature is perfect and comfortable so everyone can enjoy it. The bathrooms and changing areas are well maintained.

Never been inside but cute place

Its a great rec center, Ive gone there for years. I mostly go to the pool and its a very nice all deep pool. They also have a seepage pool for kids to play in.

Weve had a membership here for our family for about 3 or 4 months now and Im loving it. The people are nice, the facilities are great and usually quite clean. I love the both the indoor family pool and the outdoor one--extremely kid friendly.

If you can figure out the schedule for the lap pool its good. Nice locker room and not a too heavily chlorinated pool. $96 for a 3 month adult membership.

They are really trying to do some improvements to the park, which is nice. I would like to see an outdoor basketball court again.

Great place for recreation

Ive been a customer for just about a year.Pros:1: Cheap. My wife and I pay just over $30/month.2: Generally nice facility. Nothing fancy but it usually gets the job done. Employees are nice, albeit useless.3: Track. Has a nice track on the top floor for runners.4: Pool. My wife uses the pool occasionally and likes it.5: Not too busy. The times we frequent are usually not too bad, with some exceptions.Cons:1: Cleanliness. Mens bathroom usually has a solid half inch coat of urine across the floor at all times. Bathrooms are maybe cleaned once a day, although Ive personally seen filth carry over day to day. I have never personally seen an employee clean anything, although Im sure they do at night. When they feel like it.2: Maintenance and facility. Gym equipment is in okay repair, but most of it is very old. Weight room is lacking in several key pieces of equipment, such as a deadlift rack. Cardio floor is lacking in stairsteppers. The cardio equipment is nicer than the weight equipment.3: Staff. Employees are mostly teenagers. While this isnt inherently bad, most of the kids on staff here are completely useless. The kids I talked to couldnt answer basic questions as to why the WiFi was down for 3 weeks straight. The kids dont know the managers names. Speaking of which, I have never actually seen a manger in the time I have been here. There are anywhere from 3 to 6 kids that sit up at the front at any given moment and do absolutely nothing. They sit in a circle and talk instead of cleaning equipment or the bathrooms. I have never witnessed an employee clean anything in the hours I have spent working out.4: Basketball courts. The courts themselves are nice, but they are nearly continuously occupied by hordes of annoying teenagers. Parents drop their kids off after school so that they dont have to deal with them, which means that the customers of Park Center get to instead. Any rules of the gym are never enforced because the employees sit up front all day.5: Creepy and weird old men. Every gym has creeps, and Park Center is no exception. There are 3 or 4 regular old men that stare at the young women constantly. Im sure that the Department of Corrections would like to see what their offenders are doing on their days off. If these gross sacks of skin havent committed several sex crimes already, Im sure that they will in the future. Gym staff do absolutely nothing, probably for fear of their own lives.6: Hours. The hours of operation for the gym are constantly changing from month to month. It is impossible to keep straight. One month the gym is closed Sunday, the next it closes randomly at 7 PM. Without an explanation, it would seem that the managers change the schedule to give themselves plenty of time off. Except there are never managers present at the facility, so I have absolutely no idea.Overall its O.K.

Love the pool. Reasonable rates. Kids love the water slide.

Awesome place! Great atmosphere centrally located and you have a choice between indoor and outdoor pools and they are both in the same area. Great evening activities in the summertime as well.

This is where we bring the family. The entire park is the size of a city park with a neighborhood park feeling.

I know the enough about customer service to be aware it is not correct to welcome a guest with a What do you want? with an unfriendly voice tone. (Blond lady, around 50 years old, front desk, today) they literally made me cry.

UPDATE: The facility is getting cleaner and I do see lifeguards patrolling in the changing room. I have not seen e-smokers and cellphone users in the locker room lately. I do however carry my stuff around to avoid theft.The rules are not always followed. People should NOT be allowed to play in the recreational pool during the 8 mins pee break. Otherwise, just cancel the pee break. Non swimmers should NOT be allowed in the competition pool. Floating toys should be prohibited in the competition pool. Just enforce the rule on the book.OLD: There are thieves; my phone was stolen. So was my iPod Mini. I have lost other stuff over the years.I see people smoke e-cigarettes inside the gym. Kids are taking photos and using cellphones in the locker room, even though it is prohibited.I hope that the center would NOT only worry about their liability and reputation (See attached photo), but also care about the patrons. My recommendations:1. Off-duty lifeguards should patrol the property more often. They sometimes walk quickly through the locker room without even looking around.2. They should give out warnings about potential theft and robbery.3. They should keep an eye on suspicious individuals.4. The center ought to enforce rules.A successful theft will breed more crimes.I have voiced my concerns multiple times. No apparent actions. I will rate 2 star until they take concrete actions to prevent theft and other disorderly conduct.Here is my old review:Recommended, but there is room for improvement. I have been a member for 10 years. The staff are friendly and efficient. The facility is clean and well managed. There is plenty of equipment. In sum, this is a good place for exercise and for recreation.There are some downsides: 1. It does not open on Sundays during the summer. 2. The weight room is pretty small and can get crowded. 3. There are sometimes wild kids roaming around and taking photos in the locker room. Enforce rules!

Really cool double swing and very fast slides. be careful ! - One of the slides has a very dangerous twist for anyone under 4 y/o.

I love the environment, and this is usually are Forth of July spot,.... (not by the park but by the school in the field area), soo...... and the parking is nuts, i think its best to just zoom out of the area before everybody else cause getting out can take a while... id suggest parking outside of the school zone,... the fence area.

This place is Okay. The weight room is like an apartment gym weight room, its really small! Please add more equipment to it and make it bigger, it gets overcrowded. You pay 3-4x the Amount you pay for Vasa fitness/planet fitness and you should expect it to be huge and really luxurious, but no, its the same as Vasa fitness except way smaller. And get better life gaurd, these lifeguards are really mean to kids.
