Definitely not impressed. I performed only one show with this theatre, and it was enough to understand that the way this group functions is through pure favoritism/nepotism. In other words: if youre new to the scene, you wont be treated favorably versus if youre someone this organization has worked with for a significant amount of time and fall under their similarity effect, youll be treated with higher appreciation. In addition to this immature social norm, the way issues between cast members are dealt with are beyond unacceptable, especially when it is applied to minors. I had my own personal experience with this when it came to an official of the organization pulling me aside to have a firm conversation with me and another cast member. She had pulled the both of us into a separate room with other officials, and proceeded to accuse me of acting inappropriately with this said cast mate after an individual had reported their concerns to her and the stage manager. The stage manager, also in the room, then voiced that I had made a statement towards this individual that initially marked a sense of defiance and disrespect to an adult, which was not true. The entire time this was happening, I was accused of things that I did not do, not permitted to speak my side of the story, and on top of that: my guardian was not present. The way that this ordeal started and went down was not right at all on part of the people who were supposed to be ensuring that this is not only a respectable environment, but also a safe one. I would not recommend this theatre for new beginning actors, and definitely not for people in the minority age group.
Really fun date night for my wife and I to see The Diary Of Anne Frank a few weeks ago. This place has a good atmosphere and even a wine bar! Looking forward to visiting here again soon, I could see MCFTA becoming one of the places we frequent. Reasonably priced tickets as well. Its sad to see that the one star reviews are mostly from wanna be beginning actors that auditioned and were denied a role. With this attitude and posting their frustrations on review boards, these people better keep their day jobs because they will never have the perseverance to become a success in acting. Keep practicing, get better, then audition again folks. Dont misdirect your anger towards the MCFTA staff. Put your big boy pants on and keep trying, and dont vent online because you were not good enough to be chosen that go round. Keep venting on review boards and your failure is guaranteed.
My husband and I were very impressed with last nights performance of Beauty and the Beast. It was our first show at Center for the Arts and we are thrilled to have such a quality community theater to enjoy! The casting was excellent and the performance was far better than I had expected. What a treat!! We will definitely add CFTA as a regular part of date night entertainment! Thank you to all who work so hard to present such wonderful productions!!
I am only reviewing based off of a recent audition experience with my two children. This theater company unequivocally casts its productions by favoring those who have taken their classes for a significant amount of time; nepotism to the core! The audition atmosphere was long, chaotic, and cliquish at best. My kids were heartbroken because they worked hard on their scenes, and attended an audition workshop-yet were not even given a chance to perform the scenes at the audition. I received an email after the fact, saying in so many words that they werent good enough-when in reality, they both have professional experiences in Los Angeles and Nashville. Theres enough politics in mainstream media. We werent expecting the same political garbage from a small community theater in Murfreesboro. Two thumbs down.
Great Shows ! I took a few classes and enjoyed them.
My 5 year old was in the Little Olafs this year, his first time doing any stage acting. The teachers and everyone there is so nice & welcoming! My son loved it and he cant wait to go back and do something else!
Very Covid19 aware facility..
I came tonight to a dress rehearsal to see my friend in his show with his family. Because it was a dress rehearsal, his family had notified and got the ok from both the staff and the cast and crew that we could come. However, when we arrived we were told by an extremely rude docent that we would not be seeing the show tonight because a private group had reserved the theater. We tried to explain that we planned to come and were approved by the staff, but she wouldnt have it and even walked us out of the theatre. Extremely disappointing and repelling. This was my first experience at this theatre and I will not be going back.
The place give you not only great entertainment but, also gives you a sense of community.
This place runs on pure nepotism, no one who hasn’t known the audition board since they were in first grade gets into shows. You have to get into a show to be let into the community but you won’t get in a show unless you’ve been in one of their shows before. This theatre is unwelcoming and has a staff of rude unpleasant people who are catty and stuck up ESPECIALLY Mark Williams.
Small theater with good sound and lighting. Saw Young Frankenstein and it was great. Singing and acting amazing for community theater. Looked like everyone on stage having fun. Got a standing ovation. Have discounted tickets for military, seniors and students.
Went and saw The Music Man. They all done a great job. Tickets are general admissions so get there early to get a good seat. Probably not but around ~150 seats. Not really a bad seat in the house though. Will defiantly be going back!
We have seen into the woods, Pocahontas, and recently a few good men. Loved it every show. Plan on seeing Carrie soon. Cant wait
Saw a wonderful performance of 13! I was very disappointed with the experience however because it appeared that more tickets were sold than available seating. Myself and my daughter were forced to watch the performance from the stair aisle on the floor, in dresses. Additional seats (three on one side and four on the other) were put at the top of the stair aisle and were also full. In my opinion this is not a good way to conduct business or enhance the quality of life as their mission states. I will go elsewhere for my art.
I’ve seen some truly amazing shows here! What a gem in the heart of Murfreesboro.
Awful Organization
5 to 9 was great!
Good shows.
