Shoreline Lake Boathouse

Great place for the whole family on a pleasant day! Lots of paved and gravel paths. Great for biking or just walking with the kids. Paddle boats and kayaks a big plus. Lots of winged wildlife to see on the water. Also, the food at the boathouse is homemade from local produce and is better then one would expect from a local park restaurant.

A beautiful picturesque scenic location to set yourself free from the hustle.Loved the ambience. The location is picture perfect.Couldnt try the boat rides here though, but they seem to be really good too.Highly recommend

Loved the surprising watermelon salad, as well as the quiche and kale. Very nice and comfortable setting and seating.

I like this place, but now there is started some reconstruction near the playground and lake. anyway there is beautiful views and trails.

This place has been for a long time. Prices for rental equipment is very affordable, parking availability is really bad. Is is also very crowded currently (civid-19), no body seems to enforce mask in right places, now imagine if there no restrictions.

We rented a paddle boat after getting an email saying reservations would be online and limited by time, so we thought this would be a covid-safe outing. We were wrong. Granted we went on a Sunday afternoon, we knew the park would be busy but we thought our online reservation would get us straight on the boat. Nope.There was a giant line just to get to the pier, NOT socially distanced and only a handful of customers wearing masks (all employees wore masks). I finally get to the front and am told I have to get in ANOTHER line to get a ticket proving my online purchase. What was the point of my online reservation?!! I was exposed to sooo many people and the whole experience was chaos which the high schoolers running things could not control. At one point they ran out of life vests.We got on the boat about an hour after our reservation time. Once on the water it was fine, but coming back we had to go through a giant crowd on the dock waiting to get on, none wearing masks. It was awful. We will not be going again.

Its a great place in Mountain View, CA to enjoy trails, cycling, boating, picnics and many more relaxing activities

Nice nature resort in the middle of the silicon valley. When the weather is good, which is most of the time, this place is a slice of heaven, just like their pies :)

Very beautiful and serene. Can spend hours there. The greens and the shoreline make it an absolute treat to the senses.

Lovely place for a few hours of time spending. Go there before 5pm such that the kayaking is available. You will definitely be left with a wonderful feeling when you come out of visiting this place.

A beautiful place for walking, running, cycling. Nice lake and view of mountains. There is playground and childrens park. One can see many types of birds on lake & marshy land which. There is a boathouse and a restaurant.

I took my daughter to go kayaking at shoreline through the Girl Scouts. She had a great time but originally there were too many girls and not enough kayaks and they wanted to put her in the 2nd group even though we were one of the first to register and we had been waiting already for an hour. After I spoke up they let her kayak with the first group and she had a great time. Parking is limited, if its busy youll have to park in a farther lot. Theres a Cafe there but NO wifi.

Great place to find some open space rare to this area. Cafe has good food...a bit on the pricey side but you are paying also for a good view.

The water by the boathouse is duck poop dirty but still an amazing place to visit. If you come here do it mostly for the breathtaking shoreline walking / cycling trails in the back that show the Bay waters. You pass thru Google HQ to get here and its a little hidden but a great place to relax your mind

Nice place for a quick meal when walking around this nature reserve and watching the wildlife.

Did a tram building exercise here which was great fun. We built boats out of cardboard and plastic bags, most of which failed hilariously. My only advice if you plan to do the same, or go anywhere near the water is be prepared to get covered in goose poop, which is all over lawn and in water.

A place where you can relax your mind.

Spent a couple of hours including lunch at the Bistro and boating. Its a nice April Friday with clear sky. Will be back again soon.

We had so much fun! We took a tandem bike out and saw so much nature. Pelicans, ducks, geese, a snake, a jackrabbit and lots of birds!

Great place to relax and sail or paddle. Sailboats rent for 25 for one hour or 35 or 40 for a half day. Canoes are less.

My favorite goto place: serene lake with beautiful views, amazing sunset, a slightly expensive but great boating experience. There are also trails along the bay. Definitely worth going again n again!

I came for a organizational mini retreat and enjoyed all the activities. Ill be back to kayak again.

The lake water by the boathouse smells urine and sewer... but you walk around a bit, no other parts of the lake smell like that.... So is the boathouse dumping toilet waste water into the lake?

Best place to kill time and be near to nature and awesome sunset spots.

This is a great place to go to relax or habg put with family and friends. Sometimes my husband and I go there in the night to see the stars.

Loved this place, its calm, its clean and beautiful. You can get different types of boats here on rent and enjoy the place. It have a cafe and a clean restroom. Staff is very helpful as well. Its a good place to spend few hours on a weekend.

Nice place for outdoor picnic

This location is generally beautiful, and I have not had the food and I cannot speak to it, but Im fairly certain the water is not safe to swim in. My boyfriend and I went paddle boarding for an hour. I broke out in hives about 20 minutes into our session and had to come back to shore. He unfortunately fell in and has had a rash on his arms and face for the last 5 days. Neither of us have any allergies that we know of, so we were pretty surprised by these reactions. Again, its a beautiful space, but if you want to enjoy the water id recommend a canoe, not something that could risk you getting wet!

Very fine quality food and spectacular atmosphere T a lakeside staple on Lake Merritt. They keep the stagnant smell of the water out, and treat all their guest to a fine dining experience. Whether in the mood for vegetarian fare or a fresh take on California cuisine, the food is outstanding. Seafood is also available here.

There are not that many lake in the Bay Area ( I came from Minnesota) This lake reminded me of Lake Harriet in Minnesota, where they sell food and alcohol and you could wind surfing, paddle boat, stand up paddle boarding and more. The kids work at the shop are little intense other then that I had a great experienced.

Awesome date with my husband. Reserved a picnic basket The Bistro and added at pedal boat for $10! Ate by the lake and then watched the sunset on the pedal boat.

You can rent canoes and kayaks for about 50/hr and the lake was nice to boat around. The cafe on the lake was extremely overpriced as I paid $5 for a double espresso. I would recommend visiting for the boating but grab food or coffee ahead of time and not at the lake cafe

Beautiful place and a has a small cafe as well. It was a great place to spend an evening with friends. We walked around and got some great pictures.

It is a great place to go put and sea all sorts of wildlife. There is a lot of wild geese and it is cool to see so many at once.

Cozy area to enjoy a beverage or small plate - near the boat rentals and trails. I was displeased with the lack of cleanliness on windows, wind screens, and patio seating in general. Goose poop was smelly and prevalent on the adjacent grassy lawn. I quickly lost my appetite after sitting down... enjoyed the many birds and large ground squirrels. I saw one squirrel (not a tree squirrel, bigger), enjoying coca cola ... seriously!!! Definitely enjoyed the trails.

Great place to do activities on a summer morning. Boating, kayaking, biking or just walking on the many trails surrounding the lake. The food at the boathouse is awesome too! Sometimes we come just for lunch.

If you plan to rent a sailboat, bring your sailing certificate. Otherwise, be prepared for a test. Also available are canoes, paddle boats, and kayaks. Reasonable prices!

We cycle out here as a family and treat ourselves to second breakfast and coffee before the return trip. The cafe is great - a little expensive - but the lake itself is pretty ugly, especially in the height of summer when its brown all around. If the view was better thisd be a 5 star experience. The city seems to have been poking at improvements but it really needs a massive landscaping overhaul with a walking path all around and lots of tree cover. I think thats a pipedream.

Very cute place to go with an active date because afterward you can grab an exhausted coffee or Orangina and watch the sun set. There are a lot of families there and it feels safe.

Nice area and plenty of things to try out on the lake but the lake is rather small and the infrastructure seems to be a bit run down.

Nice and quality place

This place is actually great for team events, a lot of them happen here. They have kayaking, boat pedaling and other fun activities for team building. You can occupy the lawn for a while where you can sit and talk and organize some team building activity!

Ideal place for beginners considering water and wind conditions. I took sailing and windsurfing classes here. The instructors (Andrew - sailing, Omar - windsurfing) and the other staff were superb. Sailboat rental is cheap and is an excellent way of spending a sunny afternoon on a weekend. Windsurfing rig rental could have been cheaper. They also have a nice cafe. I recommend this place, if you would like to spend quality time on water (SUP, paddle boating, kayaking, sailing, windsurfing).

Beautiful place to spend on a moderate to hot day . Can kayak, canoe, pedal boat if you are adventurous. Or you could take a peaceful walk and let the kids play.

It is quick to get a boat, good service at the ticket window as well as in the dock. Various types of boats are available. We got the paddle boat and it is an easy and pleasant exercise. However, the boats are all dirty with bird . I wished the city can clean them daily /regularly. Price is not bad, $25/hour.

Great windsurfing place, although a bit on the beginner side. (But PERFECT for beginners and intermediate. Excellent classes.). Theres also a great cafe there... Superb for food and drink afterwards.

Nice place to unwind.....with friends or colleagues

This is a very open and airy park. There are boats and fun water stuff available for renting. The cafe is decent and usually busy. The trails are wide enough that the bikers wont take you out. Also, there is a sand area and mini playground fun for the kids. My guys have endless fun running around and playing near the water. Its usually packed and parking can be an issue on weekends.
